I cant really say its a complaint I really need some further feed back on the Barbizon/Appollo Agency-IMTA. My son auditioned received a call back, I then went to visit we the advisor at Barbizon who states a head talent scout Laura Gentry picked my son loved his look, states he looked go on camera but needs some polishing, training done she then states how much they charge to put him their classes which would be $125.00 a month is there anyone who can tell me if this company is a scam.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I would assume that not all Barbizon schools are equal. As in any business, there are ethical and unethical people. There are people that see people as human beings and care about them and then there are people that see others as dollar signs. That's a fair assessment across the board in any industry. Here's the bottom line...Barbizon is a school. Some people attend because they have awesome potential in the industry. Others attend for the skills they need in life - confidence, self-esteem and "polishing". If your child falls into the latter category, you're more apt to be welcoming of this opportunity no matter the cost because you just want your child (or yourself) to have these skills that don't necessarily come natural for all. If you're interested in attending (or your child attending) for the chance to get into the modeling/acting industry, you do indeed have an advantage if you know what you're doing when entering an audition. You learn this at Barbizon. Could you learn other ways? Sure, probably. Will you get the correct information, someone to let you know if you're doing it right, tweak your techniques, offer you means of testing your talent by doing it yourself? Get refresher courses for free whenever you feel the need? Be presented in front of the best of the best within the industry? Chances are not likely. You have to weigh the advantages and costs to see if it's right for you. I think too many assume because they paid money this means they should graduate class with a million dollar contract with Revlon or something. You're being ridiculous. Ask any seasoned person within the industry how much work they put in and I guarantee 999 out of a thousand will not be able to tell you that's how it happened for them. LOL
I took my daughter there today and they wanted 2995.00. And Judy lied to me on the phone too.
I just went to the Richmond Convention Center, Barbizon is a scam. They selected every girl that showed up and charged the parents $2000.00 each. I was lied to on the phone by the director from Florida Judy. Do not join a company that lies from the beginning. Some girls have no business modeling, but they let anyone in. Watch them at the local mall. They recruit anyone that will fill out a card.
Hi! Sorry this response is a little late...just saw your post. My daughter went through Barbizon so I figured I can help you out from first hand experience. Barbizon is not a scam. Actually I found them to be quite wonderful. Just to give you some background: Barbizon is school for modeling. That is why you pay (you pay for classes). The classes teach them techniques of modeling and acting and also work on poise and self confidence. They do have an agency element to the school as well, however it is not a traditional modeling agency. They way it works is, they put the kids in training and then if they do well they can attend some of the competitions where agents are present. They also have a placement division in most schools in which they will alert students of castings and auditions.
I was so glad I enrolled my daughter in Barbizon. She graduated as a respectful, confident young woman. They just did wonders. I would recommend their programs again and again.
