Baptist Health System did not do my pre authorization form for my diabetes products (free style libgra)

I visited my doctor on 9/26/19 I was seen by my doctor dr meil I advised him that I had contacted my prescription insurance company about getting my diabetic supplies, they advised me that I was covered to get the free style libra system but it needed a pre authorization form to be done by my doctors office. I told my doctor and he sent in a nurse who stated to me that she knew what to do and that it would be done. Well two days later I went to my pharmacy to pickup my presciptions and found out that no preauthorization was submitted to my prescption insurance company. I gave it a few more days and still nothing was done. I called the prescption insurance and was told no pre authorization had been done but that they would send the form to my doctors office marked urgent so that I could get the prescrption. A few more days passed still nothing? I called the doctors office and was told that a person named felicia who handles those thing had just recieved the form and that it would not be done until later that week? That was last week as of today 10/07/2019 I am still waiting for this pre autorization for this presciption to be sent to my prescription insurance company? I am without the diabetic testing supplies I need on a daily basis? Hard to figure out why it was so hard to do this when I advised the person 0n 10/26/19 that the pre authorization had to be done. Very upset about this whole ordeal.

Baptist Health System sent away from er in paducah, ky, with no treatment or pain management

My 18 year old daughter, Caroline Rasche, had an acute attack of pain in her abdominal area and we went to Urgent Care at Baptist Health Paducah on August, 24, 2018 at 7:00 am. Due to her pain level, the attendant was unable to perform an abdominal examination and sent her straight to the ER via wheelchair. Our experience that day seemed to be golden and I even turned in glowing email survey results because of the compassionate, and what I thought was thorough, care she received. Dr. Cleo was so kind and appeared genuinely investigative and thorough. Caroline had to be given morphine in her IV in order to be laid back on the table to have an abdominal examination, and the nurse was so kind and caring in handling her that day. The CT scan results came back and we were told she had "free floating fluid" that may have been from a ruptured cyst, with no mention of what kind of cyst. We were also told that her appendix was not identifiable because she is skinny so her intestines just "looked like a bowl of wet spaghetti". The nurse had let us know that it would be 3 days before the urine culture "had time to spin down" and someone would call us to let us know if it was a UTI, even though I questioned that time lapse. Dr. April Jackson was the surgeon on call and came for a consultation. She was so kind and thorough and explained that Caroline was the picture of health and even though her gallbladder was perfect on the CT scan, the attack was likely her gallbladder. I was so impressed that Dr. Jackson was not quick to cut and assured us that Caroline was the picture of health and probably just needed to start eating real food cooked at home rather than her new habit of fast food between college classes. She was dismissed from the ER with instructions to schedule a HIDA scan and possibly a gallbladder ultrasound, then schedule an appointment with Dr. Jackson for followup and further testing. It just made no sense to go chasing gallbladder issues when we were assured her gallbladder was beautiful and her lab results were perfect, so we never scheduled the tests. When I asked how to manage the pain, I was told we should alternate Tylenol and Ibuprophen. For the next 2 weeks, Caroline was in near constant pain, was a pasty grey color, spent most of her time in the shower or bath, and missed work and college classes because she was delirious with pain. On Friday, September 7, 2018, she was supposed to leave town to attend a 4-H state competition but could not stand up or walk without assistance due to the pain, and was also complaining of joint pain. I was scared to death, to say the least, because when you're sent out of the ER with no answers and the problems get worse, where are you supposed to go? Her father and I decided maybe the family doctor could help and went to see him on that Friday afternoon. He spent almost an hour reviewing her records from the ER on 8-24-18 and then came to tell Caroline and my husband that whomever read the report after she left the hospital had seen a 2.1 cm ovarian cyst, a thickened appendix wall, and her urine culture had been positive for a UTI. My child, who has just begun her college career, had lost 12 pounds in exactly 14 days between the ER and the family doctor's visit. I am disgusted with the mishandling of her health and her lack of pain management by Baptist Health Paducah's emergency department. What if she had gotten an infection in the cyst or an infection from the cyst rupturing? Why couldn't she have something mild to manage the pain that caused every professional involved not to be able to touch her without morphine in her system first? What if the UTI had affected her kidneys? What if her thickened appendix wall had been the beginning of appendicitis and she was sent away with no help? Gallbladder testing would not have resolved any of these issues. I am beyond frustrated, hurt, angry, protective, and done using Baptist Health Paducah and I am making sure to tell anyone and everyone who will listen. I do not feel that my husband or I should be responsible for paying one cent on that hospital visit. We walked away with a very sick child, no answers, no real path forward, and no hope for her recovering well. At the very best, I would now consider their practices careless and at worst, I would consider them negligent. It is my hope that emergency department personnel becomes more familiar with diagnosing issues related to female pain, and specifically the excruciating pain that accompanies ovarian cysts.

Between Medicare and Blue Cross the hospital was paid over $10, 000. This amount should have been paid as well.
Mrs McCoig is in a Memory Care facility and does not intend to pay this amount. I am her son and have her Medical Power of Attorney.

Baptist Health System rules being broken by upper management

The main thing that needs to be addressed is that the security guards are not allowed to carry anything to protect the patients, visitors, employees, or themselves. Children are being allowed to go into the Critical Care Unit to visit family members. This is being okayed by the ED department head nurse, RN Mason. They are also allowing more than 2 visitors to a room. of the ere admissions clerks are not giving out ere passes. When this happens, the guards have to give to visitors that do not have one. Of all of the things the guards have to do, they do not get paid enough. Especially when they have to deal with rude people. There have been shooting victims brought in and a crowd of family members show up and the police have to be called. The guards are not allowed to put the hospital on lock down themselves. They have to get permission from the house supervisor. Please do something about these problems before something bad happens. I request to be anonymous. Thank you.

Went to Baptist Health twice in one month. First visit for Gout, Uric Acid Urine level of 16.0 which had just started breaking through my skin, pain and swelling in my ankles and feet. Only asked do I drink, examine my left big toe, an X-ray of my feet, drew blood for a second draw which claim first one was botched and given antibiotics. Second visit same thing they attempted to draw blood twice again saying first draw was botched but I refused second draw. Ultrasound of my legs taken, seen no blood clots. Issue at hand not address but given numbers to contact other doctors? When requested copies of visit, x-ray& ultrasound, the report states (lymph nodes)a condition not pertaining to the visits, gout, Uric acid, pain or swelling only part of my body that was examined was my big toe. Three attempts to obtain care for the issues at hand with no prevail. I was told this was a good place to obtain healthcare, go to show you can’t believe everything you hear. This is 1of 4 attempts to get the medical issue at hand treated, but no willing participants…what’s with all the hatred? 8/19/23

Baptist Health System this hospital needs lessons in empathy and ethics

Senior citizen waited in pain for hours to see ER doctor in nearly empty emergency room. ER doctor Michael Brazda was both arrogant and abusive. Left 84 year old patient abandoned and confused. This hospital needs lessons in empathy and ethics. It lacks both. Too bad this hospital is so poorly run. It used to be a first rate hospital. It is now an uncaring institution with no compassion for its patients. This hospital fails miserably at its stated goals.

Abusive hospital. Left my mother stranded for over four hours in nearly empty emergency room. Dr Brazda failed miserably at his job. Hospitals stated goal "to prevent delays" What a joke. CEO Brian Kelley made aware of the problem. Took no afirmative action. Shame on you. Beautiful building. Terrible hospital.

I had a similar experience with this hospital and the same doctor Michael Brazda. Total incompetent. He spent more time flirtiting with staff then with attending to patients. Hospital staff was abusive and condescending. Contacted corporate offices to no avail. They never returned one of dozens of calls for help. Truly a second rate hospital.

Baptist Health System avoid this place at all costs

We had to take our son to Baptist Hospital in Winston Salem because one of his meds he was one was making him very sick and we were needing answers, We waited in the ER room for over a day, I told the nurse he would probably need something to help him sleep after my husband left to go home that night she gave him some meds that completely knock him out they when we went back the next morning on March 25 2010 we almost never got him awake, and they told us they had a room for him at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte N.C. so we took him there but before we left Baptist Hospital they gave him so more meds it made him so high he could not hardly walk without staggering and was high even after we got to Charlotte, The nurse's that would in the peds er are very rued and never came and ask him if he needed anything or not, someone needs to look in on this, because they put your child in a room, not allowed out of the room only to go to the bathroom, these children that's in his waiting room needs to be treated better then this there not dogs. our sons is only 11 years old. and will never go back to Baptist Hospital. I feel sorry for the children waiting for a room there, some of those children had been there for 3 days, think about that, would you like to look at four walls for 4 days.

Baptist Health System hospital failed to record serious fall and injury

My wife and I have received fine outpatient treatment at Baptist Hospital ("East") for many years. But on Sept 30, 2010, she was admitted with chest pains. No heart trouble was found but she weakened rapidly, perhaps due to narcotics administered. A nurse, having been warned that the patient was unsteady, dropped my wife (or allowed her to fall) while moving her from bed to toilet. My wife had extended unconsciousness and delirium.

The fall was apparently unreported and there was no exam for concussion or broken bones. Our complaints to the nurses and doctors and swelling in my wife's foot were not charted.

Increased painkiller was administered. After my wife was released from the hospital and I took her to a doctor, she was diagnosed with a broken foot, broken vertebra, dislocated vertebrae, serious digestive complications (gastroparesis, presumably caused by narcotic painkillers administered without stool softener) requiring drugs with bad potential delayed side effects. My wife was in considerable pain for two months and unable to resume normal life for three months; I lost three months of my usual life caring for her.

Many thousands of dollars of medical expenses were met by the taxpayers (Medicare), not by us, that should have been paid by the hospital.

The hospital refused to give any help or information; it refused to return phone calls for months. After I wrote to city council members and legislators, I received a letter saying that my wife had been treated according to Baptist Hospital standards.

Baptist Health System scam, beware

I am Kidney Transplant patient and I am often placed in the hospital. And I have medicine that I must purchase on a monthly basis. I have been paying on my accounts and they had turned me over to a collection agency and they stated I was not paying enough money monthly and have turned me over to a Lawyer and they are taking me to court and suing me. I have 6 bills with them just from 2009. If I am unable to buy medicine then they are unable to collect from me.

My Name is Raul Arias - Email rsarias@bellsouth.net Cell [protected]
Last week, September 29th. I had a medical appointment with Dr. Coren Menendez at the Baptist Health Primary Care - Kendall Breeze, my doctor kindly renewed my prescription medications. My main medicine is CREON 24000 units, so my prescription is 900 pills for three months. The prescription was sent to Optum RX for 300 pills, the next day (09/30/17) I went to the medical office and explained the error, they told me they were going to talk to the doctor, The next day (10/02/17), I go back and I speak with OptumRx, they inform me of the error that instead of canceling the 300 pills and putting a prescription of 900 pills they put a prescription of 600 pills, with this I will pay $ 87.00 twice.I returned to speak to the office and I explained again that please cancel both orders the one for 300 and the 600 and that only put a prescription for 900 pills.Today finally Oct 5, I talked to Yanelli, and she told me that a supervisor was going to call me WHEN SHE HAD TIME, I told her that they are playing with my health and my money, that I have been operated since 2007 on the pancreas and that I have few medicines left in my home. She repeated twice more that the supervisor will call me when she has time. The assistant of the doctor, Yanelli, is quite conflictive a little complicated and always speaks with attitude, I have been patient with her, but everything has a limit. I request that my case be taken care of by a supervisor and with this I make a formal complaint against Yanelli.I request that my medicines be put in OptumRX for the amount 900 pills for 3 months and with their respective refills.

Before you call them to make any arrangement Google these and become an informed consumer.
1-what to do when you are contacted by a collections agency.
2-your rights under federal laws FDCPA and FCRA
3-Validation of debt (VOD), cease and desist (C&D), CMRRR
4-Your state's Statute of Limitations (SOL) on debt.
5-post your questions at debtorboards dot com if things get thick
Then obtain a letter of settlement stating how much you will pay (first negotiate the amount to a third of it if you can).
Don't pay anything with out the settlement offer first no matter what they say.
Submit payment via CMRRR mail (or signature required), check or Money Order only, no electronic access to your bank account. They will clean you out.
Keep all the payment documents for life. They resell your paid off debt and then it's the same collections story all over again.

Baptist Health System no compassion

Took my elderly mother in law to Baptist Hospital for emergency operation. Emergency room was empty. Had to wait approximately six hours until physician ordered proper blood wook to have her admitted. When I bruised this doctors ego he had me thrown out of the hospital leaving both my mother and father in law stranded. The hospital would not let me be their for her operation leaving her both confused and distraut. I am their primary support. This hospital has no compassion. They have never apoligized or offered an explanation for their negligent actions.
