Bailey's Gym Pay to cancel!

Earlier this morning I attempted to cancel my membership, but they forced me to pay for an EXTRA MONTH just to cancel. A month they claimed falsely that I owed them.

If I really had an outstanding balance, then why do I have club privileges from 2/17/2024 until 3/16/2024? A month that has not started yet... Wouldn't my membership privileges be up just before the next month began? (YEP!)

My blog with more on the matter: https://www.cosmicdimensions.net/blogs/entry/277-baileys-gym-deceitful-and-how-they-take-advantage-of-people/

Claimed loss: $52.68

Desired outcome: I WANT MY MONEY BACK TO MY CARD ON FILE!

Bailey's Gym Corp so call policies

Please be very diligent when reading your contract with these people, it's all about the money with them. I had to freeze my account with them due to a surgery. I also cxl'd my contract so that they would not charge me again after my 12 months were up( trust me they would try) I was told I could still use the gym since I had a freeze on the account (due to the surgery) , however they were charging me a 20.00 annual fee AGAIN ( they charged me that last April) I argued that point and was told that since the months I had on freeze went past April ( when my contract started) I would have to pay that fee again. I only got to use their gym for 3 months and had to pay for the entire year and they still tried to squeeze 20.00 more dollars out of me.

It is disgusting that you can't cxl at anytime, it's not like there is any promotions or they are giving something free with your membership, so why do they make you sign for a year and hold you to that. HORRIBLE I basically told them to take the months I had on freeze and send them where the sun don't shine, I will never set foot in another Baileys Gym. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! Plus their gym is ANTIQUATED big time!

Desired outcome: NONE

Bailey's Gym They hold you hostage with their policies.

RIDICULOUS! Don't sign anything with this gym! They will hold you hostage. The staff is unable, unwilling, or uneducated to help in the situation. I called to cancel my month-to-month on the 1st of the month and was told I would still have to pay for the month because, even though I fulfilled my 1-year contract several months earlier, they need a 30-day notice. I wasn't happy with that but agreed. So I assumed I was now canceled. I called back to make sure since I hadn't received a notice and they said, "Oh, you can't cancel with us, you have to send an email to corporate." O_o Why didn't you tell me that 3 days ago? I sent the email and now they are going to draft me for another month because the cancellation call doesn't count, only the email that was 3 days later due to the weekend counts! Ridiculous! So now I have to cancel my debit card to prevent them from drafting. I explained the incredible inconvenience of this and they have no care or consideration for anything other than their bottom line.

I'm leaving because there is always broken equipment. They only have 5 stretching mats, but those mats are so old they are ripped and they shed on you and stain your clothes. The cable machines are old and not lubricated so it's hard to work with them. Some of the cables are frayed. The janitor will vacuum around you while you work out. And while they are continuously vacuuming, they never mop or clean the mirrors. Strange.

Desired outcome: I'd like them to cancel my membership without an additional draft as I've asked them to do. I fulfilled my contractual obligation and called to cancel. The person that answered should have told me that I had to send an email.

The exact same thing happened to my family. We had a one year contract but they automatically enrolled us in month to month after I called several times about my cancellation. We were never advised to contact corporate at all.

As a result, only 0% of 11 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
  • You should not trust a website that appears to be parked, especially if you have already paid money to the website. A parked website may be a sign that the website owner is no longer actively maintaining or developing the site, and there is a risk that the site could be a scam.
  • Baileysgym.com has relatively low traffic compared to other websites, it could be due to a niche focus, but could also indicate a potential lack of traffic and popularity. The baileysgym.com may offer a niche product or service that is only of interest to a smaller audience.
  • Bailey's Gym protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.

Bailey's Gym billing and collections policy.

I recently moved out of Florida back to my home state and had to end my contract. I paid their 50 dollar fee. Now they a require a copy of a signed lease or up dated utility take over to release from the contract. Good luck with that I
with my brother and my mother in a house they own. The utilities are not in my name and family helping family does not require a lease. I did send them a copy of a change of address verification from the post office and bank statements with my new address. The move happened from 10/30-11/4.
my email is [protected]@yahoo.com and phone [protected].

Bailey's Gym Membership

I have moved out of the state, from Florida to North Carolina, in January of 2021. I stopped paying for my membership because I've moved out of the area. I was ensured by multiple employees of the gym, and it was written out in the contract I signed, that if I move away I will no longer have to make payments. I am getting multiple emails asking me to pay my membership fee. I have emailed back stating that I can provide documents that show I bought a house in North Carolina and that I no longer live in Florida and therefore can no longer go to this gym. I have now been notified that my credit may be affected. Who do I need to speak to about this?

Desired outcome: To no longer get emails about membership payment, And to stop a credit collection process

Bailey's Gym membership service

place looked okay
not busy. locker rooms.need help. I had a major.problem.because the person trying to sell me.a.membership (1 apparently wasn't listening to my questions or my confirmation of the information he was dishing out. He tells me a special they had going on was $200 off membership for 1 year.He shows me this laminated sheet that breaksndown membership type and rates. I asked himn3 times...I get 200 off 1 year, he says "yea yea". (2  I agreed, and I confirmed the Remaining balance would then be about $400 I'd owe and that I'd pay the whole year in advance. then he starts ringing me up contract and he couldn't figure out how to process me paying in full...(3 since that was too hard for him, .I said.okay if its easier you can do monthly and I confirmed that amount back to him as $400 divided by 12 = $33 a month plus enroll fee...he kept saying "yea, yea". (4  Then he prints a contract and it's like $60 a month and says 2 years. I asked him what in the world...then he looks at his mananger and says "oh I'm sorry that's not the special, we.can only give you 200.off for a 2 year contract". I replied " that's not what he confirmed with me like 4 times!" ...then they wouldn't even honor their [censored] up. So.I cancelled and said nevermond. If.that is the customer service they give and they don't even listen to.the customers questions multiple times...I dont trust them. I guess it just.pissed me.off so I am not willing to dish out for this gym yet. Maybe Ill.change my.mond later, but this was just bad service.

Bailey's Gym Membership

THE MOST EFFING ridiculous scammers ever! My wife was a member and then we had a baby and they wouldn't cancel the membership for months. And today my wife called - as directed to cancel finally (after trying to do so for 1.5 year) and an annual fee was charged even though she hasn't used the damn gym for 2 years now. INSANE and stay away. There are a million other, better options out there and not this crap!

Desired outcome: Get out of contract without delays and stupid penalties.

Bailey's Gym Misleading billing policy

Your gym has the harshest and most deceptive policies I've seen. They capitalized on COVID in order to enrich themselves using policies that they know are misleading, under the circumstances. I'm 66 years old and would not have considered going to a public gym after February. My pre-paid membership ended in July yet they "rolled" it on charging my credit card monthly hoping I wouldn't notice with their underhanded tactic so that the gravy train would carry on. They even charged me a renewal fee of $41, without my consent, 2 days ago, and refused to refund it, hiding behind fine print in the contract. Shameful and disingenuous!

Bailey's Gym the deal I signed was not honored

In October I was told about a new deal to sign up for that would lower my rate and I would get 6 moths for free. I am a new mother and a waitress. I only have 4 days out of the week that allow me to workout and 2 of those are before office hours. Anyhow so they offer me this new deal... Planet fitness moving in next door is cheaper but they say I should stay with baileys because with this deal it will give me November for free in addition to 5 more free months... That I would be charged a fee in December and that would reflect my new rate and I would also have an annual fee that month. Well I go to work out Saturday morning and my key won't let me in. I call when I get off work and I am told that this month is not free and that not only do I owe my original monthly fee I also owe a 20$ late fee. I am on a budget and I have no money on the card for this month because the employee lied or was ignorant about the agreement. So I am told to call corporate who in turns tells me they are going to fix it but in the end only offers to waive the 20$ late fee. This is not fixing this. A fix wpuld be honoring the agreement. So at this point I am extremely angry so I tell them I just want to cancel everything. I can go somewhere else. She tells me she can't do that that she can only revert me back to my original plan. None of this is solving the problem. Especially when the home office also says corporate has to cancel. All I wanted was my original agreement honored but obviously this corporation is just so money hungry they dont care about their customers. Even if I had ended up paying for this month it would be so late I wouldnt even get to work out this month... But if it wasn't for this false deal their would have been no problem I have a budget. And per this agreement this month at the gym was not in that budget. And now I am being told I am not allowed to cancel my membership. This needs to be resolved either my original agreement needs to b honored and everything for November be waved because there never should have been a charge in the first place or someone needs to cancel my membership entirely. Please contact me back as a low income mother I have to pinch every penny so if honoring the agreement is impossible I need to cancel everything as soon as possible. I am putting a stop payment on until everything is resolved

Bailey's Gym Billing/Collections

Billing/CollectionsI started a membership with Baileys in 2014. My fiancé and I both held memberships for a year and made month to month payments. His card was stolen and he froze his account and received a new card. We were not able to pay Baileys anymore but they continued to bill us because we had no card information entered. The last interim statement that I received from baileys was December 19, 2014. The balance was $208.34. I never received any other notice from Baileys until March 26, 2015 which stated "Thank you for your past patronage at Baileys Gym, Inc. In reviewing your account, our records indicate your account is pending collections due to your unpaid balance and or incomplete or missing information. We have not yet received the balance due or new EFT information to fund your account. Your current Balance Due is $613.70. Your account is scheduled for immediate transfer to an outside collection agency for further action in 10 days and additional collection fees will result. This action can and may affect your credit standing with multiple credit reporting agencies. If you fail to contact the Corporate Office within 5 days of receipt of this notice, and correct all default conditions with your Membership Agreement, we will have no other recourse but to continue with the collections efforts detailed above. This is your last opportunity to bring your account current. I was very shocked that from December 19 to March 26 my balance skyrocketed up $405. They could not explain to me as to why this was happening and said that it was because of missed payments, but I still can't understand how it became that amount. They had no way of mailing or emailing me how they got to the number $613.70. There may not even be any record of why it reached this amount. Nevertheless, I am a fair person, I knew that I hadn't paid in the prior months so I just took the lost and agreed to pay off the balance so my account would not go to collections. I managed to get my account down to $300 in February. I was on maternity leave from December until March without pay. And I have just returned back to work and it is the end of April. My fiancé was without work and we fell on hard times. So I could not afford to make a payment in March. The reason why I am complaining today is because on Friday April 29, 2016 I received this email from baileys gym. Thank you for your past patronage at Baileys Gym, Inc. Please see the attached. Our records indicate your account has a past due unpaid balance of $425.00 and our previous attempts to secure payment have been unsuccessful. This situation has resulted in our transfer of your account to our outside collection agency for further action. This action can and may affect your credit standing with multiple credit reporting agencies. MG Credit will be handling the collection process and has all the information regarding your account. For payments and/or further information, please contact MG Credit directly at [protected]. In addition, all payments and future correspondence regarding this account should be directed to MG Credit, 5115 San Juan Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. The attachment that I received stated that I had to pay an additional $125 collections fee. I have never heard of a collections fee before. In the email it clearly states that I had a unpaid balance of $425 when my balance was only $300. The balance was only $425 because they added a collections fee. If it was already sent to collections then how could this be a part of the balance that I owed them. Also, the email states that their previous attempts to secure payment were unsuccessful. This also was a lie. They never attempted to secure payments after February. I do not have a card on file because they said that I would have to call in each time I would like to make a payment or go to a Baileys location. Also, when making payments over the phone they always said they couldn't send me receipts through email only through mail. So I do have mailed receipts yet, the last email that I received had an attached receipt in my email. The day that I received this email I immediately called baileys to see if there was anything I could do to reverse this situation. This would obviously ruin my hard earned credit. When speaking to a representative I explained my situation and I asked her why I was not given a notice before my account was sent to collections like the time prior. She told me that it was because they sent me one once before. Which was a year ago in March 2015. I don't understand how this is fair to me if I was paying on this account every month up until February 2016. As I previously stated, I only had $300 left to pay. I also asked her why I was not notified that I needed to make a payment or that I had missed March which would be sending my account to collections. I asked this because there have been times that Baileys have called me and asked if I wanted to make a payment. She responded and told me that those are only courtesy calls and that they don't have to notify you of this. I don't understand how from March to April I had no notice that my account was going to collections. The woman told me that my missed March payment was the reason why it was going to collections. So why was I just receiving notice at the very end of April. I find this very unfair and unprofessional and they are not consistent with anything. I even told her that I could possibly pay the whole thing in full if that would stop my account from going to collections. She then told me that she could not reverse the account from going to collections. Which I am not sure is true or not. All in all, this one missed payment has led to a collections account that will ruin my credibility. This company seems to be stealing money from people and making up numbers in order to get money out of people. They are not lenient about anything, and this is hardly the case with most companies. It seems that they create the rules and policies as they go. This is unfair. I find that in my situation the lack of communication was unfair to me. I just want the justice that I deserve because I know that this is not the correct way to handle a persons account or credit.

ALSO, the Bailey's in Palatka, the parking area is not secure at any time of the day, and the gym has no video monitoring/or security in the parking area, only the inside.
Every time I go to this gym, I have to check our car every 10 minutes (from the inside door/windows), especially in the evening hours! Twice I had to call the police, and yes there were arrests! Even with an alarm on your car, the drug addicts etc. WILL try to break into you car - count on it!
In the late evening/early morning, you must be careful while getting in and out of your car! Always be alert!

Because of this, it really makes working out difficult at best.

Bailey's Gym They got cancellation fee and took another sum, when I thought that the membership was cancelled

I joined Bailey’s Gym, but after a year I moved to another state and contacted the customer services in order to cancel the membership. They said that I couldn’t do like this and it must be done in advance, so after some negotiation, we agreed that I would pay $25 cancellation fee and the problem would be solved. Ok, I have paid and my card was expired, so after I renewed it, I got the message from them that they wanted to update my payment details. I didn’t tell these details and they even charged me again.
