I filled the gas tank not more than 3-5 miles from the AVIS rental return at Orlando airport. I was charged for fule service ($17.49) an overcharge

This practice is still being used. We filled up just before returning our Avis car to Logan Boston airport. The garage attendant just handed me the receipt with no comment. Luckily i checked and had been charged 18.77 for fuel. When the attendant agreed that the fuel gauge was on full, she stated that the computer automatically charged me for the fuel and i would have go to customer service to get the charge removed. The customer service agent again blamed it on the Avis computer. Computers do what they are told. I said it seemed like a systemic attempt to over charge customers. She replied "I have no comment to that". Check your receipt and don't use AVIS again!

did you drive the car less than 75-100 miles? some rental companies have a flat rate fee depending on how many miles you drove, that instead of filling the car up they will charge, I am betting that this is not the case. Did the gas gauge still read full at time of return or was it still slightly under? Depending on the location and level of activity it could become difficult to know how each individual car reacts to refueling. As far as legal action on the refueling of cars, I assume that as a law firm you understand contracts? the rental agreement states that a visual inspection and interpretation of the gas gauge is interpretable by the agent. That coupled with a signature pretty much aleviates any legal case

We are a law firm and want to talk to persons who were charged refueling fees by rental car companies. We are especially (but not exclusively) interested in people in the state of Ohio. I had the same thing happen in Springfield, Mo. Get this...called them up and they would not handle the issue over the phone. Whatev...so I'm traveling the next week and stop in the airport, show them my receipt they remove the charge and say we took care of it. Ok, how about sorry Mr Preffered Customer that you had to go through such a hassle over our mistake. Then the smart ### kid in charge behind the counter said well, this doesn't really prove anything, we're just giving you the benifit of the doubt. Avis if you even cared at all, which obviously you don't because of another issue in extending a rental for a few day call you lost preffered customer. Sure, I'll be setting right by the phone waiting [protected]
