Aurora Health Care - Billing

I had an emergency gallbladder surgery and let me make myself very clear.

This complaint is for the billing and codec people only.

I went into the hospital by car. My husband brought me and I did not take any i.d. with me. We told the people that were admitting me to the hospital that the bill is in my name. I am under my husband for insurance and so my insurance ends with a different number. I am a female and he is a male.

The hospital had to call our insurance company to get approval and because it was an emergency, it was in my best interest to stay at Aurora South.

Fine, but the claims were being denied because my husband never had surgery. The hospital put the claims in my name and never double checked. It is has been 5 months since the surgery and I am still getting bills, unpaid bills; because the hospital could not double check a single digit.

What a ridiculous mistake and you wonder why health care is so expensive? We have to pay for the mistakes of people that can not do simple bookkeeping.

Don't ever try to dispute a bill that you know has been coded wrong, because Aurora will always tell you it was correct, it's happened to me 3 or 4 times now, meeting for "same" appts. For last 20 years, and getting coded differently, so not covered by insurance, at times, having to pay out of pocket a lot of money.

Doctor Yoganand Gundamraj is transphobic.

He was respectful to my face but misgendered me so many times in the notes, which all future doctors at Aurora will be able to see.

I will never be using any Aurora location again because of this.

I cannot explain how terrible Aurora Health is to work with. The customer service is rude and unhelpful, their billing practices are unethical, and most of their doctors barely spend 5 minutes with you and bill you a million bucks. PLEASE do yourself a favor and do NOT go to Aurora.
