ATT Cell Phone / Claims NO record of rebate request
I purchased an AT&T phone for my mother through Altell. I purchased this particularly EXPENSIVE phone because of the promised $100.00 rebate. At the same time she purchased a phone for my step father, which had a $50.00 rebate. The salesperson was nice enough to generate two receipts (one to mail in and one to keep). We promptly cut the UPC code off the boxes, finished filling out the forms that were initially started by the salesperson and stapled the original sales receipt and put it all in the mail with a FOREVER stamp (so I know there was enough postage). It has been over three months and ATT claims there is NO RECORD of our rebate request. I checked it online myself and sure enough, the database indicates that there is no record of it. I am sure that we did everything correctly, who wouldn't when there is $150.00 to lose? I think this scam is run to trick people into buying expensive phones with features they don't need and probably won't even use. I'm pissed b/c I bought my niece a phone about a month and a half ago and already got the $50. card. Is it that they don't want to send more than one rebate to the same address? Most households typically use multiple cell phones I would imagine. I would cancel the contract BUT in order to get this phone in the first place, we had to sign on for another two years of service. I never had these issues when it was CINGULAR!
