I ordered several magazines from this young man and paid him cash of $149.00 back in June of 2008, and as of today January 5, 2009 I have yet to see my magazines. I have tried calling the phone number and recieve nothing but a busy signal. I believe this company is a scam and I will be fowarding my complaint on to the Attorney General.

I ordered 3 magazines from a couple of young guys who were selling door to door on August 5, 2010. I paid them with a check for $129.00. Today is February 3, 2011 and I still have not received any magazines. I contacted the company on January 3, 2011 and was told there was a problem and they would not be able to deliver any magazines for a couple more months. I was told that I could wait, or get a refund. I asked for a refund and was told that I would have it within 10 days. I still have not seen it. When I spoke with them on February 3, I asked where my refund was...I was told that the manager had just approved it and I would have it within a few days! What a crock. This company is awful and you should not order/buy anything from them.

Elderly aunt was taken in by Atlantic Circulation - Paid $46.00 cash and never received a magazine! Phony business - where are their ethics? Just take money from people and give them NOTHING in Return! Wrote to them in Mountville, PA and NEVER received a reply! Horrible company ripping off people!

I too fell for this magazine scam. I was approached by a girl who claimed she was trying to win points for her trip . I have always been careful with door -to-door salesperson, but for some reason I felt sorry for this girl and let my guard down and wrote a check rather than giving cash thinking I can cancel this order if there was ever a problem. Was I wrong. I should have followed my instinct that day and decline to buy any thing. It has been 4 months and no magazines. I called the number listed on the internet and receipt, [protected], and it was disconnected. This prompted me to google their company and all I see are complaints about this company and what a scam...it made me sick to my stomach - the fact that I decided to help someone and got ripped off. I did filed a complaint with BBB and they responded that it was unresolvable due to the company has closed its door and closed my complaints. So sad that I will never buy from another person because I won't trust anyone that comes to my door. KARMA - what goes around comes around - if you feel you need to scam people - then you shall be scammed yourself by someone else.

I ordered a toddler magazine from a nice gentleman for my youngest child. After a month of not receiving anything I called the company, they told me that I had to wait 120 before i could call because it could take that long for me to get my magazine. I ordered the magazine in July of 2010. I called the company after 120 days and they informed me that they sent my magazine in the mail the day before I called. In February of 2011 I called the company and informed them that I was tired of waiting for the magazine and they informed me that the subscription I ordered was out of circulation until August 2011. I asked for a refund and they tried to tell me that I could not cancel over the phone. I told them that I have representative from the judicial system on the other line that would beg the differ. They said they would have the check in the mail by the next business day. I have yet to receive a refund or a magazine. I july 7, 2011 and they said a check would be sent out on that thursday. I called today and they told me there was a misunderstanding and the check was sent out yesterday. I will never do this again. What scam artists.

Yes I ordered a magazine almost a year ago and never got it. I called them a million times and finally they told me to send the receipt to them in the mail and i would get my money back. That was about 6 months ago. I didn't see the money or the magazine. Today I tried to call them and their number is disconnected. I should sue.

I ordered a magazine for my 4 year old nephew June 20, 2010. It is now june 7, 2011 and I now live with him and my sister so I know for a fact they did not get any magazines. I called the customer service number multiple times, each time some kind of misconnections happened like the called was lost. I finally talked to a "representative" and she stated there was a problem with the publisher and the magazine could be sent out in a few weeks. Kinda strikes me as odd how it has taken a year already and then they can miraculously pull a magazine out of their @$$ and send it to me right away. If I don't get a refund check within the next month there will be hell to pay, I will never buy magazines again, from anyone. I should've listened to my gut when that fool walked up to my door.

I too did not receive magazines in a timely manner. I called to complain and the lady told me I could have another year of magazines for free or I could request a refund. I requested a refund and was told they would issue a check that week. When a month passed and I still did not receive my check, I called again. They said "we must have over looked your request, we will issue this check this week". I then went to http://www.bbb.org/ and filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Magically a refund check appeared the next week.

Please file all complaints with http://www.bbb.org/ I received a FULL refund and an apology from Atlantic Circulations.

My saleskid Jed was quite loveable. I felt sorry for him as it was dark and getting quite cold outside and he only had a teeshirt on. He was starting to shiver and said it would be awhile before they came to pick him back up. I was not expecting to get a magazine nor did I want one. I really just wanted to help him out. If I had thought it through better, maybe I would have given him cash and told him to just pocket it instead of writing a check that some [censor] boss will get. I think most of you know when you open your door and there are kids beggin you to buy mag's that it's probably not legit. So either help them out with a small "donation" or maybe even ask if they are hungry. I would have loved to help this kid out a lot more than I did...maybe offer him a jacket to keep... and I feel guilty for that. Kay

I just had a young boy and girl come to my door with the same song and dance. We live in a region of Florida that is highly populated by military personnel, so they had a better than half chance when they guessed that I was in the Air Force. They asked me what rank was on an insignia she had on her and after I told her, she said that that was the rank her dad was. She told me her and her family lived nearby and that she was selling the magazines to earn points, etc. When we ordered one magazine subscription, they asked if we could pay in cash. We told them that we did not carry cash and they insisted that they'd get more points if we paid in cash. They continued to ask (more like beg) for any cash we had on hand. After we said no for the final time, they accepted our check and left. We had a lot of dead time when my wife and I talked it over in the other room. My aunt was here at the time and noticed that their stories changed drastically as time went on. They then were worried about the guy in the van that was driving them because he would be very angry that they were late. The young man asked for some food and the young girl asked for some wine that we were enjoying even though she said she was underage. Her speech was very erratic and she seemed on edge. There's no doubt in my mind that these young kids were being mistreated. It's sad, but beware of this scam. We cancelled our check the minute they left the house.

I ordered from a boy and I also didn't receive my magazine either. Very disappointed I was looking forward to the magazine that I wanted. So I will not order from any more kids unless I know them first hand. That's to bad you cant trust anything anymore. The story I was told it was boys against girls to see who could raise the most money and then who ever did got a trip to Germany for a school sport. What crap!

I guess this company has really CLEANED UP IT"S ACT! I was approached by a young girl in an RV park. I bought the subscriptions and asked they be sent to the military as a gift. Afterwards I figured I had been ripped off. But I went to the Atlantic Circulation web site/ contact us page and sent off an email. With my receipt numbers. WITHIN MINUTES I got a return email from Nikki. She said that yes they had received the order but they could no longer send the magazines to soldiers so she would issue a refund right away.
Once I realized that all was legit I made contact with Soldiers Angles and they said they would take the magazines. I emailed Nikki back about three hours after she had emailed me and told her to stand by for a new address for the magazines.
By the time I emailed Niki she had already sent out my check and canceled the whole deal. I should receive the check in about 7 days.
My only complaint is that I have no way of contacting the legitimate young woman and getting her the points she really did earn.

The [censor] that you all talk about on here is some freaken crazy [censor], hi im debbie i work for this company i have been for 2 years, this company is one of the best companys that i know of. its inspiring to youg adults, keeps kids out of trouble and have fun traveln around the world maken money and seeing new places. before i joined mag crew i use to be bad on drugs did alot of bad [censor] and always running the roads, my parents wanted to put me in a home cause i was so bad. i joined mag crew and now i been drug free for 2 years doing a whole lot better, i mean every one thinks that people dont get there magazines but you really do it takes 4 months thats 120 days, and it is a contest also at the same time you got to collect points and the most kid who collects 35, 000 points gets 2, 000 dollers and a two week vacation trip. its not a bad company to work for, like that one boy said on here that it is very inspiring to young adults and it has changed alot of young adults ways of life. but you know what people can talk [censor] all the time but we kids on mag crew we love it. so what ever you all got to say so bad and gossip about it, YOUR F***** crazy!

SolarDisciple... perhaps you should post your e-mail address here so you can take care of the hundreds of people who have been ripped off.

Savannah came to my house last night. Parts of her story were inconsistent, but I wanted a Parent & Child for my daughter who is a new mother. $55.00 for 4 a year for 32 issues a year for 4 years. Good deal, eh? Well, if it turns out that Savannah scammed me, I'm going to find her.

I was visiting a friend in Portland, OR. when we were stopped by two young men who were pleasant but very misleading in their true intentions for stopping us. What seemed like a simple survey to rate which magazines we liked the best turned out to be, "okay now out of your top three favorite magazines, which do you want to buy?" We were caught off guard and basically guilted into buying a magazine so that these kids would receive points for some contest so that they could go on some trip somewhere. Afterward, I too felt that something was wrong with what just happened. I felt bad for spending all that money but I felt that I was really almost tricked into doing it. But I really wanted the magazine I had purchased (with cash, which was supposed to get the kid more points) this was 3 months ago and I have yet to receive my magazine nor has my friend.

Is this a contest or what? If not then [censor] on that, they shouldn't be lying to people just to get their money, someone should be held accountable for this. These kids were obviously trained to scam people because they are very good at it, to be frank they are conniving and sneaky and manipulative. What the hell kind of environment have these kids been in?

The thing that still makes me wonder is when the two kids were talking about shipping and handling. The boy who was selling a magazine to my friend waived the shipping price because someone had given him a donation earlier in the day, but the boy who sold me mine didn't have that luxury. So this causes me to think that it's not a scam, and that maybe SOMEDAY we will get our magazines. But as of right now, whoever is behind this and in charge of sending the magazines needs to get their act together and start sending what we paid for.

Someone else posted something about the fine print saying something about it being a contest and if you are chosen you get the magazine, well that is crazy BECAUSE I DIDN'T PAY $62 TO ENTER A CONTEST. Aren't there laws against selling people things under false pretenses? I thought I was buying a magazine, not a [censor]ing raffle number. This is [censor]. I'm praying that I didn't throw that receipt away during many of the moments I've kicked myself for falling for this scam.

And to "Solar" who posted earlier, I would support a "lifestyle" if I was asked to support a lifestyle. I'm angry, we are angry because we thought we were buying magazines, not paying so these kids can stay off the street. At least be honest with us for christ's sake.

Who can you trust when there are companies, organizations sending kids on the streets to basically hustle money from people? This whole [censor]ing world is corrupt, man, playing on our weaknesses and compassion.

theres scams everywhere, atlantic circulation is the most reputable company ive worked for, and trust me ive worked for some of those scam companys .ive seen these companys treat people horrible, so im not arguing the fact that there is bad things going on, but i know for a fact that ACI is legit. if for some reason you dont recieve your magazines its not the company, its dirty business done by these (so called helpless kids). i run a crew and i tollerate no drugs, alcohol, or dirty business. i get bad apples walking through that door everyday looking for a job. i take these kids who would end up on the streets, doing drugs, selling drugs for that matter, and probably commiting crimes. so when i take these hopless cases and turn them into sucessful young adults on the right path, i get no praise. you never hear the good stories because theres no drama. and as far as the office number its correct, i call it everyday!

LETS GIVE THESE LEGIT KIDS A BREAK, ITS ONLY MAGAZINES. 50 DOLLARS WOW I SPEND THAT ON TOILET PAPER.

Hello, I will not give out my name or my information, but I use to work for ACI, I was a mag crew agent. Yea they really pulled a fast one on me, promises of money and I got to trvel the U.S. In nice hotles and have fun. Wow was a scammed...
I worked for three months and for that time I went through alot, Its commision based so either you sinnk or float in this business, and the only way to float is to lie out of your @$$ completly so you can make the sale. There is this thing called our quata, its the least amount of sales expected out of you; mine was 10 sales a day. If I did not make quata I would not make full pay on my sales and everytime a check was brought in (no matter how much it was worth) I only recieved $5 for it. Im talking about 100-300 $$ checks here.
Now I did learn alot about the job and what they do, It is sadly not a scam, just a very messed up slavery. The reason some of your orders did not come in is becuase of the following (Some sales agents will not turn in a sale and keep the money, 75% of the orders have to be sent in, the other 25% "are lost in the mail" meaning the managers keep the money and never send in the reciept, and the last one is the order was not filled out right.)
We stayed in very crappy motels where the whole crew ended up contracting scabies, well all the kids did, the managers had time to go to the clinic and get it cleared. All the kids working on crew had torn up nasty peeling skin becuase the bug was not treated for a very long time.
Our work week, We have to be awake by 8:30am to get ready for 9:00am meeting, Sometimes if we all missed quata it would be earlier meeting. Meeting was to see who was in what van and which town they were to sale in. We arrive in our town at 11:00am and work different neighborhoods until 10:30 pm, we get back very tired from walking and have to stay up until 11:00pm meeting to go over the day. I hated 11:00pm meeting, this is where you would get humiliated if you did not get ur quata, even if you were one away. All the managers called us names from [censor], [censored], not worthy, [censor], well the list goes on. We worked 6 days a week and got wednesdays off. Well we never really had wednesday off, The managers would promis us something for our hard work and the when wednesday comes, we end up useing that day to jump to the next town, we also had to work when we were in the middle of jumping, so really we never honestly had a day off. No crew in the nation has a permit to sale, so its all ileagle. We were stopped by the cops almost everyday becuase someone will call. I was always told to keep many things secret. Like our hours we work and how many days we work and how much we make. So they can let us go and not hassle us. Its a lie parents when thekid says he does not have to pay for his room and board. They pull $12 out of our total sales to pay for a room.
Did you know a manager will make well over $2000 a day and the kids working under him/her only make 50-100 a day(and thats if they are meeting quata) I was able to come home beacuse the cops forced me to come home. My last day there i brought in 3 checks, 1:$185 2:$200 3:$51, I only made $15 off of those sales, and I had to ride back home on a grey hound that they almost did not pay for. So parents who read this bring it to your kids attention that not everything is how it sounds. I thought I was going to become rich off this but unstead I was used like a slave to make some one else rich.
Well there is more but I cant type it cuz it will give away who I am so until next time, Peace and Love to all who are still stuck in a mag crew.

Personally I have been working as an agent for about 1 month now. Agents are told what to say and do so we get clothing, shoes and a small bit of cash in our pockets. It is true that we get 2000 for college/towards entrepreneurship goals and a 2 weeks trip to Europe if we get 35, 000 points. If we dont sell any magazines we get yelled at and get no points. I dont think this is a scam, but there are some crews that are scammers. Just be careful of who you order from.

A young man came to my door in February. Well, it seemed strange from the beginning and I told him to save his pitch because I didn't have cash on me and I don't give my account information to solicitors. He went on to tell me of how he was in the lead for this contest. The store is right around the corner so I told him I would order one magazine. As I was getting in my truck, the kid asked me if he could ride because it was beginning to rain and they wouldn't be back to pick him up for hours. I allowed him to ride. Anyway, as I was getting the money out, I looked at the price of the magazine in the store and did my calculations for the magazine I ordered. The store was less. I made it back out to the truck and I told the kid, I'm sorry, I feel this is a scam. If you needed money this is not the way to go about it. You are hurting people and taking advantage of them. I gave him 30 dollars anyway said a little prayer for him and let him out. Although, he completed the transaction I don't expect any magazines. My advice to people is this: stop giving out your account information to strangers. These kids are professional hustlers. Don't fall for the sob story.

I recently was aproached in a Walmart by two young guys selling these magazines subscriptions. One said he was in college, the other said he recently returned from Iraq. I'm an officers wife, and wanted to help, so I bought one magazine subscription for 36.00 dollars. During the whole transaction, I had a gut feeling that these two guys were scam artists. I even asked them if the walmart knew they were soliciting in the store, but I still wanted to trust that they were being honest. I was careful not to give them any of my bank info, or credit card numbers, so I gave them cash basically to go away. I did not appreciate being singled out and put on the spot like that. So today, I pulled out the receipt and found all this info on the magazine scam. I really wish that I would have followed my gut instinct and reported these people to the store managers. If I end up getting my magazine, I will be very surprised. If I'm approached out in public again, I will let the store manager know next time.

Ugh, I feel stupid as well. This guy came today with the exact same story. He was in a public communications class trying to win a trip to Paris. He got points for selling magazines. He had all these military badges and said he got extra points for those. When I said I didn't have any cash, he looked all disappointed and said they got extra points for cash. He also said that other people were going around and volunteered to put a sticker on my door, but after he left, I found the sticker on my table. What a scam! I stopped payment on my check. Now I have to pay a fee to stop the check, but at least it's not $49. I paid for the children's magazine.

He kept talking so fast and said he was all nervous and didn't know how to talk well, etc. They just give you no time to say "NO". I learned a lesson today. I thought I was helping someone out and helping children in hospitals.

I am a college student myself, living in student apartments and I was also scammed by Atlantic Circulation, Inc.

After the boy who took my momey left, and I thought about what just occured, it was obvious to me that it was a total scam.

The boy selling magazine subscriptions had a very unclear story, with missing details, and whenever I asked him a question, his answer was hesitant and mis-matchy.

I thought I was being generous, but in reality I was being scammed.

Just recently someone from this same company came by my apartment AGAIN, trying to sell magazines- this time a girl.

The lines this girl said were all the same as the previous guy- they must be taught to say something and have to rehearse it before going out to scam people.

I feel nauseus at the memory of these incidents, and how these people sleep at night knowing that they are taking money from innocent college students like me and my neighbors.

I knew something was wrong! I followed my gut on this one. I'm a college student living at her own apartment complex, and i got a knock on my door today, and it was a young man, not much older than myself, who was extremely charming in personality, very friendly, and right off the bat shook my hand and told me that his name was _____ (don't even think i caught his name) and he had to do this for a public speaking class as part of a program that he was doing to study abroad. He told me he was part of a program that helped him earn points so that he could go to study in Italy next semester, and as part of it, the boys and girls were split into teams, and the girls were winning, so he needed my help. He said he was majoring in business, and gave me his emotional story. I will admit he seemed like a really friendly and sincere guy.

He said he needed to raise funds as part of this program, and whipped out a pamphlet with magazines. He asked to come in when I said I'd be happy to support him. He sat down at my kitchen table and made friendly personal converstion and asked me about school, music, etc.

Then after pushing me to subscribe to two magazines, I let him know i could only afford one right now. it was a two year subscription for 49 dollars, and thats when something started telling me this wasn't right. He asked me if i wanted to pay cash or check, and when i said check, he said, "well do you want to help me secure it with just partial cash?" and I thought, hmmm okay? that was another sign that something was wrong. I gave him 10 dollars cash and told him I would pay the rest in check, and wrote out a check for 39 dollars. When i asked who to make the check payable to, he said Atlantic Circulation, INC. And i thought "...why am I making this too some company i've never heard of?" I knew something was wrong, and when i gave him the check, he said thanks a lot, and I told him good luck. He said he had a tag to put on the clip next to my apartment door to let the girls he's competing against know that he already got my support so I wouldnt be bothered. He showed himself to the door and left.

Right as he left, I ran to my computer and looked this up and found that I was totally right all along. I felt stupid for going against my gut feeling! and to make it worse, he didn't even put the tag on the clip next to my door. I found it crumpled on my floor right at the entrance of my apartment.

Within 10 minutes I called my bank to put a stop payment on the check. They charged me a fee, but I was just lucky that this jerk wasn't getting the money he thought he was from me.

It was so awful, and I can't believe people can sleep with themselves at night.

Personally i have preformed legal work for one of these "crews" The boss matthew was falsy accused for scaming a person in new york. After talking and meeting with all parties we found out that his "crew" was not the ones who took the money. In a settlement the couple were given credit towards mag purchases. Now they are still continued customers. Be careful, if you are dealing with anyone else check id's. I can personally vouch for Matt's crew as for any other i do not offer gurantees.

I did submit a complaint to the BBB (waiting), the kid who sold me the mag really made me believe this was for charity, it is not, You can get through to a live person on [protected], but they told me they work for subcontractors, so Atlantic Circulation, Inc is only a processing company for these people who are doing wrong, she had my order in the system. She told me to write a letter explaining why I want to cancel. I wrote a letter explaining why, I faxed it, mailed it, then sent a complaint in to the BBB, which I think everyone should do, it's important that Atlantic Circulation, inc knows that they are processing orders for people who are misleading. I told the woman I just don't understand why I can not cancel something that will not start to ship out to me for another 120 days. The rep kept explaining to me that there was nothing she could do and that Atlantic Circulation, inc will forward my cancellation request to the original sales company, but its up to them if they refund me or not. lol I'm sure they will right, has anyone ever recieved his or her funds back from Atlantic Circulation, Inc?

This company is a total scam I worked for them and they even scam there employees!
I would suggest never to trust or buy from atlantic circulation inc ever and I do mean ever!My own family ordered from me and never got there magazines. There is nothing but drugs and drinking that goes on after they get home and the violence is too much. The kids that do the sales are not all bad but you can bet the person they work for is.This company was the worst experence of my life allwe deal with on a daily basis is thug bosses like Brandon S. of Blue Dimond sub. Jake B. of Berlingery sales the only manager I liked was Melissa B. she was very nice and treated her agents like gold the others are like the maffia so never spend your money with A.C.I again

My name is Solar.

Now look.

Atlantic Circulations Inc. is a company that clears and sends out subscriptions for the independent contractors (A bunch of kids in traveling door-to-door magazine sales crews) who you get at your door. The business of door to door magazine sales has been around since the great depression. It began as a work reformation project founded by the government, at a time when hundereds of other federally funded work opportunities openned to the public, such as Job Corps, and LaborReady. While the door-to-door magazine sales failed officially in the long run, it has reached beyond federal funding to keep the program alive. These kids are honestly competing for a 2 week trip to most anywhere in the world they want to go with the condition that the destination be agreed upon by all 4 contest finalists. When an agent on the sales crews gets to 35, 000 points, they truly do get a $2, 000 bonus as well.

This is a pyramid scheme in it's definition. Atl. Cir. Inc. Is not the company responsible for your misfortunes. They are not actually selling you anything, just clearing all orders that are sent to them by the sales people. These crews are all managed by managers, and then there are supervisors, and then there are agents. It can have more levels than this example, but generally, Atlantic takes their half of the sale, the supervisors take their 10% of each agents "production", or what is remaining after the clearing house gets their portion, the manager then takes half of the remainder, leaving roughly 23% of each sale for the agent. A manager would then be responsible for housing the agents. Any good manager will always make sure that the hotel rooms for the agents are paid for, even if it means they all share a room for the night. Everyone takes care of eachother in making sure everyone is fed, and it really is a family atmosphere, for these young people who most of which come from broken homes. They are learning positive communication skills, as well as responsibility, comradery, and getting to travel and share in life's experiences while they do it. Some of us are among the most interesting people I have ever met. Talk to us, see how we work. If you like us, buy a magazine. I won't even go into the lists of highly successful people who started off selling magazines in door to door crews, but this is a system taking kids off of the streets, people without anywhere to go, and showing them love, and teaching them the power of communication. I have heard some horror stories, believe me, but not from my crew. Not from most crews.

So when you are about to say no, remember. You aren't buying a magazine. You are supporting a lifestlye. Granted there are "scam crews" that won't send your receipt in because their receipt are counterfeit, more than likely. These crews are often the ones who have to endure the most abuse and unfair conditions. Like I said, many of these people have no home to go back to.

If I could ask any one thing from you, Mr. and Mrs. Jones... It's not to call the police. We deal with the police each and everyday.

I put my email address on every receipt, and if you don't recieve your magazines in 4 months (that's worst case scenario), I will make the calls to take care of it.

Here's the thing... As an agent, I can assure you that these kids are more than likely not:

Homeschooled
In R.O.T.C.
In High School (We travel a lot)

If they say they are, then that doesn't mean they are representing an illigitimate business, it just means they are lying to make the sale.

P.S.
The troops and children DO get their magazines.

Tip to make sure your agent is good for their magazines:
Check their paperwork. Their receipts should ideally be in numerical order or close. Double receipt numbers more than likely means that this is a "scam crew".
