Aspen Dental billing/misrepresentation of what insurance will cover

Good Morning,

Account Number: 6386428

I have been a patient with Aspen Dental for almost two years. I began working with Aspen Dental at the Bloomington/Normal office and then transferred to the Lady Lake office when I moved to Florida.

I am very, very afraid of dentists. From the very beginning all the personnel were super supportive, kind and provided excellent care...from teeth removal, to the denture process and recently, at the Lady Lake office for lower dental implants. Every time, I have been pleased, comforted and received excellent dental service.

When I moved to Florida, I was on limited income due to a pending divorce and on limited time because I am taking care of my elderly parents (85 and 86). My mom has Parkinson's Disease and Dementia. Our life is loving but very difficult.

After a small procedure, early last November, I looked into the costs of lower implants. I was still married and was advised what my husband's State Farm insurance would cover ($880) and I decided to spend my small savings to make lower implants a priority to me and my dental and mental health.

The procedure was November 27th, prior to that date, I was advised my costs and what insurance would cover and agreed. On the morning of the procedure, I once again asked if the insurance had been covered and was assured, once again, all was in order. I made my own final payment and had the procedure done.

I love my implants! The dental service, cleanliness, friendliness and professional staff made the entire dental procedure and experience less stressful and very rewarding. Every time I needed a quick fix or adjustment...done!

Come, the end of February, everything changed.

I received a bill for $880.00! Almost 3 months AFTER the procedure. I was completely floored and wondered what had happened. I called the office and asked what was going on...I was told my insurance hadn't been paid yet... I told her that I had asked over and over to be sure the insurance would cover this before having the procedure and was assured again on the day of the procedure it would be.

You see, I told her, I am on limited income and can not afford this additional costs. I was assured that the insurance company, then the owner, then the corporation would be contacted and I would be called back. I was also assured that even if insurance wasn't going to cover it I would not have to pay any, or very little. I waited and waited.

Another month passed.

No word from Lady Lake Aspen Dental. I received the March bill for $880. I then called back, there was no one at the Lady Lake Aspen Office that claimed to have said what they did in February and then I was told that sometimes the insurance takes months to be processed and to wait...

and I waited...worried...

No word from Lady Lake Aspen Dental.

I then received the $880 bill in April. I called Lady Lake Aspen Dental and was told the insurance requests was still pending, I asked them to please make a note on the bill so my credit wouldn't be affected. (They hadn't offered to do this either).

Please help.

I am an honest person. I do not want/like or have outstanding bills, nor in my 62 years I have ever had such a problem happen. I do not have the funds to pay $880. I would never had the procedure done if I knew that it would be that much more.

Please help a very satisfied dental procedure patient that believes that I was completely and still am being misrepresented by my out of pocket costs.

Sincerely,

Deborah

Aspen Dental dentures

Started denture work in Jan 2018. Top denture fits just ok. Working on adjustment on bottoms. On Friday May 11th while sitting at a table in a nice restaurant, while talking my front tooth on upper denture fell out! The dental office is in Bradley Illinois and I'm walking in there with these lousy dentures tomorrow and will be demanding full satisfaction, an explanation why a tooth would just fall out of a denture, and if satisfaction isn't met . I'll demand full reimbursement and use that money and go somewhere else! I'm very mad (pissed) and will go more public if you don't satisfy my complaint. Feel free to call them and straighten Bradley aspen dental out on my request! My # [protected].Thank you

Aspen Dental dentist

Aspen dentist Dr Klepes located in Panama City Beach Fl removed a crown from the WRONG tooth and when the temporary came off of the back two crowns he removed he would not give me an appt for 6 days to replace it . I have a medical issue that requires that I eat solid food or I will end up in the hospital on IV lipids, very expensive ! His assistant started to numb my upper gum line and the chipped crown needing work was on the bottom, I told her this and she argued with me saying the chart said #13 I think she said, I told her my chip was at the bottom and she got mad and stomped out. So I tell the dentist I want the chipped crown replaced not an upper tooth he said ok he numbs me and starts drilling. When he left the room I got a mirror to see what it looked like and realized it was the wrong tooth. I was upset and told the assistant. He said he would pay for the mistake and his assistant said I was not worth it!
Then my temporary broke twice and he is making me wait 6 day before he will fix it! No empathy what so ever

Aspen Dental poor work quality, deceptive billing

The crown they did failed within three weeks - shattered to bits in my mouth! When they placed it originally, it was cut too big. So the dentist couldn't get it back out to to seal and then bond it in. So they actually SENT ME OUT OF THE OFFICE WITH AN UNBONDED CROWN AND ACTUALLY SAID IN WORDS - You just have to wait for it to fall out and well redo it! The dentist actually laughed and said try eating gummy candy to pull it out. But yet I still paid them the balance they said my portion would be. I had sat down with the office manager who gave me my billing amounts. As I was walking out of there with a crown that was incomplete, because they didn't cut it properly, I still paid my portion in full. I tried to understand things happen. I didn't get mad or upset. Just said I guess I'll be back when it needs to be fixed.
Three weeks later and the thing shattered. I almost swallowed pieces of it. I actually had to collect the shards and put them in a Baggie to take back to show them. Had to get it all redone. The whole process, so i had to make three more trips. The crown was completed then. At no time in any of these subsequent visits did the office say I'd owe more or that there was any indication of a future bill.
Six months later, I start getting bills saying my insurance didn't cover as much as they thought. So they were charging me another $418. I've refused the bill. They actually have a commercial on tv right now talking about how "we deal with your insurance do you don't have to." Not in my or many other people's cases I guess.
Now they just had their bill collectors somehow find and call my ELDERLY PARENTS home looking for me! I'm 42 years old, haven't lived in my parents home since I was 22. Yet they called my parents! They are disgusting and it seems many of us have had the same experience.

Aspen Dental service

I had a tooth crack and I called Aspen Dental to get in and get it fixed ASAP, as it was extremely painful. They told me they couldn't get me in for a week. I said, I'd try to manage as long as I could. On Thursday (3 days later) I couldn't bear the pain anymore and my entire jaw was swollen. I called Aspen and after being transferred three times and waiting on hold for 45 minutes they still had no availability for an emergency and I'd have to come in on Monday. Well, I just showed up, on time, and they told me they cancelled my appointment because they're "short staffed"! 6 days waiting in pain now they pull this on me? Aspen, you and your people suck.

Aspen Dental broken partial

I went to Aspen because I had a toothache. It was stated that the tooth was infected and I would need a root canal. I was given amoxicillin and scheduled for an appointment. When the appointment date arrived I called and told the Dr. that my infection was not cleared up and I needed some more med and to cancel the appointment. He said no come on in he had given me enough meds to clear up the infection. I kept the appointment, he could not do procedure, because the tooth was still infected. The pain eased up and the procedure was performed in several steps when I went back before the final step I told him I was still in pain he advised me it would stop in a few days. It did not, I went back in he could not find a reason for the pain, he gave me more amoxicillin. The pain eased up but came back, I went back 3 or 4 times and he could not stop the pain. He finally sent me to an endodontist who said he needed to go back into tooth and add more medicine. I went to him again where he and another dentist (who I later learned did not even work there) decided that it was actually my bite that was causing the pain and that if the filed my teeth down with the drill it would relieve my pain. I stupidly allowed them to do this and the next morning my bridge that they had been filing down fell out while eating a bowl of oatmeal. Now no one from the office or their patient satisfaction office will respond to my calls and I had to spend an additional 2700 dollars to the 2100 dollars I spent at Aspen Dental. I am not giving up I have reported them to the BBB and I am going to small claims court.

hi was wondering if you got your money back. I had the same thing and July will be a year. They don't fit right and I have trouble eating. They remade them once and I told them they are too big they said they can't remake them again and I have to take these. I heard the money back guarantee is only in the first 30 days. I spent a lot of money and am still paying for them (they were only the top) they cut the side of one of them too low so food gets in there and I have to totally glue them in every day or they fall out and I can't bite or chew food.

Thanks

Aspen Dental dentures

First if all your customer service number in now disconnected. Real good customer service! I had my upper teeth removed and some of my lower teeth to be replaced by dentures, this processed started on May 28 2017. It has now been 11 months and two sets of teeth later I still can't eat. In too much pain. This process has cost me $ 9900.00. I have talk to the manager (who avoids my calls and is rude). I now have to go and get my dentures replaced by someone else. Why have I not walked away satified? Why can't after 11 months I can eat anything no sold foods? What happened to taco Tuesdays or your ad saying if I'm not satified I will get my money back? I will go out of my way to let ever one I know and don't know what a scam this company is. Why can't I get customer service call me. I have a phone number [protected]. Rosann palmieri

Aspen Dental defect workmanship on dentures

January 2017 (6844264)

Transaction Date:11/18/2016-$425.00 & 12/17/2016-$282.00=$707.00

Dear Aspen,
Heard about how professional Aspen Dental was pertaining to denture work and Aspen was running a discount on dentures so I tried Aspen. I made my appointment in Nov 2016 and had made over 8 trips just to get my dentures aligned to fit my mouth. My wife got so tired of driving 140 miles round-trip and on some services we had to stay up to 4 hrs just to get a fit that didn't fit. The Dentist were different along w/the Lab worker almost every time we made a visit to get my dentures to fit correctly. It wore us out w/their services and the staff was polite and seem professional until they couldn't get the dentures to fit correctly. I paid w/my credit care and still paying because of my limited income. I asked on 04/24/2018 could I get them aligned correctly this time and the receptionist quoted me over $300 it would cost me. OUCH! First of all the dentures never fitted I just got tired of the run-around by the staff. HELP! My gums are steady shrinking and I don't look very good w/o some teeth! A Refund would be appreciated or a reasonable negotiation.
Thank you,
Arthur L. Carter

Aspen Dental being charged money I don't owe.

In October of 2017 I went into a aspen dental office to have multiple fillings refilled, a tooth pulled and some hygiene/cleaning. Before I had any work done I signed a treatment acceptance payment arrangement. The amount of all the work totalled $2316.00. But I have insurance and the insurance I have participates with aspen so I got a discount of $1042.00 and my insurance paid $825.00. So in total I was responsible for $448.80 and that included my deductible. So I accepted this treatment and instead of being out almost 450.00 upfront I did a 12 month no interest finance thing with dental first financing. Well I get my work done little by little and finally finish the end of October into November. Well my the beginning of December I had a broken filling. So I go into office have it looked at and was told no charge because the filling that failed was one I just had done. So everything's fine for next couple weeks until January I began receiving bills from them for $800+. After first bill I went into office to talk with the billing. They tell me that it was due to there upstairs people not taking off the discount and they would take care of it. Next in january I received another bill for same amout. I called In to office talked to someone else and they tell me same thing. February comes and I get a final notice bill. Stating that I owed $800+ for services and stating if I didn't pay it would go to collection. I again paid and became very mad and who I spoke with this time actually did something and I thought it was done. But then March comes and I get a collection notice in mail for not $800.00 but $125.00. I don't know how it goes from 800.00 to 125.00 but I called In and talked to a very rude man that attempted to argue with me that when I went in on December I didn't pay my bill that I signed saying I owed $86.00 for hygiene. I had to argue with him that the dentist told me no charge for fixed filling. And after he read further on the paper he saw he was wrong and told me it would be taken care of and hung up on me. Now it's April and I got a second collection notice. There are some incompitant people working at the butler Pennsylvania office. What's sad is the dentist and his hygentist and assistance are wonderful but this experience has made me so jaded that I won't go back to this office. Buyer beware. As of today 4/24/18 I am still dealing with this issue.

Aspen Dental product and service

I got the highest priced dentures aspen offers (which is a far cry from the price they advertise to get dentures). I went to my credit union and got a loan for $4000.00. That was the balance after my insurance paid. I have had nothing but trouble with them... They've never fit properly! Within a year after getting my permanent dentures I was told that the only way to make my lower plate stable was to get mini implants (steel posts) put in to attach my lowers to. The office manager amber told me the good news was that my insurance started over the first of the year and she had called them and they'd pay on the implants! My part would only be like $1500 more dollars! She went on and on about how they'd much they'd helped her mom blah blah blah. And "let me give you a hug" congratulations they'll make such a difference! So, I called my cu and asked for more money on my loan. Sure, no problem. I have the procedure done and then the harassment begins! I got numerous calls and bills for the $2400 my insurance was supposed to pay! I finally cooled off enough to go to aspen and I talked to val. After explaining everything, and her checking her info she said yes they should indeed pay that, it is listed as something they pay. She spent forever on the phone with my insurance company & then her headquarters and told me 'they were aware of and handling it'. I told her I would never have gotten these implants if I wasn't told my insurance would pay for most of the procedure! But I was told they would pay! I even have a letter from sspen stating my balance would be... She also told me she'd have them quit sending me invoice after invoice and calling me until 'we' got it worked out. That did a lot of good! I never heard from her and today (april 19) I got a letter that I had been turned over to a collection agency! Now they've ruined my credit over something that is their fault! I am soooo angry, I can't afford to pay a lawyer, I don't know what to do! I absolutely despise aspen dental. I wish to god i'd had the sense to go to a real dentist. Please help me!

Aspen Dental aspen dental at 7th street and bell rd

My appointment was scheduled for Sunday, April 15 2018 at 930 AM. I got there at 915am. I didn't get back to a room until 1010am and was left in there unspoken too until 1050am where still no one notice i left except the receptionist cause i cancelled requested refund of $1, 685.00 WHICH HAS NOT EVEN BEEN PUT INTO PROCESSING YET to be refunded 3 days later. Because "they are behind and trying to catch up" I already found a new dental surgeon and need refunded as soon as possible. the waiting room was also packed, some people were left standing. the assistance in the back rooms were all in and out talking and seemed confused and it was hectic. for a SURGICAL procedure that is costing you A LOT of money, i would recommend you go somewhere else then aspen. They should not be that over booked, confused, and hectic for SURGICAL procedures.

Aspen Dental have made over 20 visits and my dentures are still not right

Had to have upper teeth extracted. This was done by a trainee dentist. After that bone shards inside of gums. Cut my gums from front to back. Still have bone fragments in gums almost year later. Got intermediate denture and took 4 or 5 visits to get them adjusted right. Was scheduled 9 months to 12 months to get permanent denture. Had that done and went to get dentures and they came out looking like a bucket tooth beaver. Went back 3 more times for adjustments. This was done by the trainees in office. On the 4th visit back the dentist took a look at denture and said those are not right. Decided to make new impressions and wax dentures and then the permanent again. 3 visits in one day. Got those dentures still not right. Went back done more adjustments. Came back home again and the front teeth still are bucked forward and it sits crooked in my mouth. I really don't know what to do. I'm thinking that I need to get a lawyer as well contact the attorney general's office to try to get something done about a service that is costing us lots of money with a unsatisfied and a abundance of consumer complaints. I wish that I would have went somewhere else other than aspen dental.

Aspen Dental dentures not fitting

I went to Aspen Dental at 620 James Campbell Blvd in Columbia, TN. I had 17 teeth extracted and my temporary dentures were put in immediately and I was sent home. My mouth hurt so bad before I even got out of the room that I had to remove the dentures. They did not fit together in my mouth. It's been 2 weeks and I have yet to be able to wear my bottom teeth! I paid $5, 400.80 up front and they won't even see me to try and fix my teeth to fit in the bottom. I'm not able to eat and can barely drink with the top ones in. I have to wait until 5/02/2018 to even be seen! I am very disappointed in Aspen Dental and considering contacting my attorney! I paid cash and was given a 100% satisfaction guarantee and I aim to have just that! I don't get my permanent teeth until September but I won't settle for this kind of treatment until then! I expect the top of the line dentures (Comfylytes) that the doctor recommended for me to be perfect and I expect these temporary teeth to be fixed so I can wear them until September!

Aspen Dental professionalism

I'm highly disappointed in the customer service skills, professionalism, bed side manner and last respect, your female Dentist E. Spencer, DMD needs a reality check! This is my experience as I laid back in the procedure chair a small short petite girl blonde walked in quietly and put a drape around my neck from behind. It scared me because she didn't make her present known. So I said aw you scared me and she quietly said sorry. She never introduced herself even though this was my first time seeing her. She proceeded with preparing everything for the extraction. Than Dr. Spencer walked in the room to extract my upper right wisdom tooth after I just finished up in the next room from getting a treatment called scaling and root planing with the hygienist. She was followed by Dr. H. Li She stated to him that she doesn't work through her lunch and he needs to speak to her about scheduling because she doesn't work through her lunch ever! So Dr. Li calmly said Erin you can go to lunch I will take care of this patient. She act as if she didn't hear him and they was 2 feet apart one another. Then again she stated with disappointment again that she just doesn't work through her lunch! Mean while Me the patient the client the paying customer trying a new dentist sits there in the chair waiting with my mouth wide open. Dr. Li waits on her to respond and she finally says, no I will take care of it. But know I will be late coming back. Dr. Li said ok thats fine and walks out leaving me with the angry woman to work on my mouth! Keep in mind I have always been under local anesthesia when having a tooth cut out or pulled. So with that said I would be out of it. But no here at aspen dental u are fully alert and aware. But I can say they do numb you well. Now Dr. Spencer is pulling and rocking my tooth back in forth with force then the small petite blonde grabs my jaw one direction and Dr. Spencer pulling the other directions as all this is going on I hear cracking and feel pressure and then a rip. Within 3 minutes my tooth is out. Dr. Spencer looks at me for a split second and asked if I have any questions. Before I could get my bearings on what just happened. She dashed out the room! By now its about 5 minutes after she pulled my teeth. The Xray tech from earlier and the petite girl that assisted Dr. Spencer just started ripping paper off the chair I was sitting in. Never asked are you ok do you need any help I got nothing. Except the impression I had or was ruining someone lunch break. Because they rushed cleaning that room. Now I'm preparing to head out to the room and the small petite girl hands me the aftercare paperwork and extra gauze and a prescription. As I focus my eye sight the prescription reads penicillin I'm like ok so what am supposed to the about the pain. The petite girl tells me to take Tylenol and Advil alternate them out. I said what! You just took my wisdom tooth and plus scrape under my gum getting rid of dead tissues on of my 12 teeth and u just want me to take aspirin. So the petite girl said she would ask Dr. Spencer. She comes back and says Dr. Spencer said some aspirin will be fine. I was blown away! I even said look give me 800 IBuprofen that will work just fine. I was told no we cannot do that. So I asked you can't do it or you want? I just got a death stare. I stated after I spent my money with you all you could careless how I feel when I walk out this door. As I preceded out the door with tears just seaming down my face not due to the pain because I was still numb. The tears was from hurt! I felt like they didn't care one bit about the patient! It was all a illusion they put on to get your money. I learned my lesson about going to a big chain businesses. I will stick with the private Dentist offices even If I have to pay more to professionalism, sensitive to the patients care. I have had two additional teeth pulled in the past and I never left the office feeling the way I felt leaving Aspen Dental on Lebanon Rd in Hermitage Tn. The sad part about everything is I was right. As I sit in my truck still in the parking lot trying to pull myself together. I mean I had been sitting there about 5 to 6 minutes. I look up and here comes Dr. Spencer in the shortest shorts she possibly could find and a halter top. Looks like she heading to the gym. And then the 2 assistances jumps in the car right beside me and pull off. So I guess I was the one that was holding up their lunch. This floored me. I got treated like crap because of their lunch break. This is the imagine your company want the public to know. Because I'm going to tell my family, friends, coworkers, church member's, facebook friends, Instagram and snap chat. Hopefully I hear back from you all about this complaint.

Aspen Dental failure to uphold, satisfaction guarantee promise

AT the Deland, FL. office I was falsely told that the changes needed on my wax mold were going to be done, told to sign some papers about the wax mold, approving them. asked what about the changes I want, told thats between you & the (whoever making them) person, not to worry sign here, Well when I came back for them? nothing done, , , You have taken my overbite & EXTENDED it outwords. How Hideous I look! You Now refuse to refund my money, and also refuse to refund my money for the lower set I CAN"T WEAR EITHER, , I still have teeth there !
You advertise satisfaction guaranteed Please take note, , , I am a totally unhappy customer, I feel I was treated poorly in you office & pushed out the door as fast as they could, because I was a cash paying up front customer! The excuses I was given afterwords are totally unacceptable
I am not happy with my smile because of Aspen Dental, You have made it worse! Visiting this office once again reminds of my past horrible experiences with dentist,
I am retired, I also am a card carrying D.A.V. with this horrible experience & you failure to uphold your guarantee, I feel obligated to tell my story to my fellow brothers & sisters in arms.
