Class action lawsuit against aspen dental forming
Within the first 3 days of posting the notice alerting consumers about the formation of a class action lawsuit against aspen dental, there has been an overwhelming response from angry patients wishing to participate in this action.
To answer the question posed by many frustrated patients – yes, aspen has designed its patient service department to effectively diffuse your isolated complaints; this is why you will never successfully receive any justice from aspen dental when presented as an individual complaint. But, aspen cannot evade and will be held accountable to the thousands of angry patients who are collectively unified under this large and comprehensive class action lawsuit.
With the high volume of feedback and interest in participating in this class action lawsuit, we are requesting that in your email you identify your complaint as being in one of the three following categories:
1. Dental malpractice – in which you have been physically injured by their dental “care. ”
2. Consumer fraud – includes cases in which office personnel of aspen dental used high pressure sales tactics designed to take your money with false promises of providing competent dental health care.
3. Combination of malpractice and consumer fraud.
To respond to one of the most frequently asked questions: yes, you can remain anonymous!
When you email the description of your complaint for inclusion in this action, simply request that we assign you a confidential identity.
As a new patient, a reasonable person would not expect aspen dental to take unfair advantage of a dental problem – after all, they are considered to be a healthcare facility; however, when you sit down with the office manager to discuss your dental treatment plan it becomes clear that your money, not your health, is aspen's primary objective. The job of the aspen office manager is to force you into accepting the most costly and extensive dental work possible. This is termed “conversion” and is against the law.
To respond to another frequently asked question - yes, aspen dental rewards its employees with financial bonus incentives for exceeding monthly production goals. This bonus system is based upon aspen's internal use of “metrics” which pressures each office to compete against other aspen offices. Unfortunately, since aspen’s management team is composed of individuals whose background is in “consumer retail” – not in healthcare - they operate the dental care facility as a retail business in which you are not viewed as a patient - instead, you are simply a paying customer. Aspen dental’s motto is: “to create a happy, paying patient. ” but, unfortunately once you pay, you quickly discover that you are not happy.
This class action lawsuit will effectively make aspen dental accountable for their acts through the unified and coherent voice of thousands of patients who have been wrongfully injured by aspen dental.
This class action lawsuit will channel thousands of patient complaints into a collectively powerful force which will finally stop aspen. Your participation in this class action lawsuit will not cost you any money - the legal services are free to you. And, you may be entitled to receive money as compensation for your loss and suffering.
To participate, please direct your questions and interest to ted bleckstein, dds, ms at: dr. [protected]@gmail.com

I went to Aspen because my teeth were severely hurting me. They got me in the day after i called...great! Well i got the free xrays and exam. I knew what was needed, 2 teeth pulled..a root canal...a crown...and a filling. They took my blood pressure, which I've NEVER heard of a dentist doing, it was pretty high. I sat for a few minutes in the chair and she returned and took it again, it came down a couple of points. After that the woman who does the billing took me on her office, have me the run down on what had to be done and had me prepay almost $2400 for everything that had to be done. Actually got appt for later that day..great again! Nope...blood pressure high again. I tell them I'll sign a waiver or whatever...just get me out of pain. I even called my regular Dr. who immediately faxed a letter staying that it was fine to do the procedures. They still wouldn't. Made another appt. for a couple days later...bp high AGAIN...it fluctuates, its never as high as it was at the dentist..but i was in severe pain! So after saying they wouldn't do it that day, the woman who does the billing wall's me out and says they'll issue a refund. Im like WHAT? I wanted my teeth fixed! But apparently they didn't want to take the chance of killing me from pulling a tooth because of my bp (again...WHAT DENTIST TAKES YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE ANYWAYS?) So i asked how long refund would take...she told me a few days. Ok, i guess I'll SUFFER through it. Few days later i call and ask about it, of course can't get last receptionist to talk to the billing lady. The receptionist reels me I'll receive refund in a FEW WEEKS! Im like A FEW WEEKS!?! I NEED TO SEE A DENTIST NOW! Well of course i get nowhere with her. Just a happy little "it will be soon" im sorry but SOON to me is NOT a few weeks. Now I'm suffering in pain trying to figure out how to handle this situation. My BP was high before i pre paid for EVERYTHING so why would they even tell me they'd do the procedures? I'm furious! I have no dental insurance and paid out of pocket, and can't afford to pay for another dentist until i get a refund from this place! I don't know what to do. This sounds illegal to me...and if not its damn sure BAD BUSINESS! Im going to contact the news, the BBB, and the ADS on this office!

I had a terrible experience with Aspen Dental. Shotty partials fillings that won't even allow dental floss between teeth. Fixing a gap in top front by making the right top tooth bigger to cover the gap. Can't eat with the partial. Because of the fillings can't taste like I did. I had two missing teeth on bottom front. First partial made with only one. This after 2300.00 dollars because you have to pay first. Would like to tell you more and all story.

I also was very upset over my one visit to Aspen Dental. Made appt. for routine cleaning. Waiting room awhile, then back and was told I must have Xrays. I said I do not want them. They insisted I talk to office mgr, who told me they would not clean my teeth w/o Xrays. So I finally agreed. They did a full circle head Xray plus the individual ones. I did not want the radiation. But I did want a cleaning, which I take very good care of my teeth and wanted one spot between the two lower front teeth which was tearing my floss and I needed help getting this placque off. They had me wait again, then took me to the chair. Finally two girls came in and picked my gums all the way around, and wrote down figures. Then the Dr. came in and said I had bacterial infection in all my teeth and would be losing them and they were all loose. I said, No, they aren;t. and felt them, and she said, YES theyt are loose, you just can't tell Then she said, we have to do a deep cleaning, and on another day. I said, No, I only want a routine cleaning. She said we would be committing fraud if we did that, when you need so much more. I did not believe her. I was sent to a financial plan manager, after waiting in their "green" room once more about a half hour. Then he took me in and showed me a bill for I don't have it in front of me but it was approx, $1500. I told him I only wanted the routine cleaning. He sounded like a quote of the Dr. He said, it would be fraud if we did that, when you need so much more. I couldn't convince him, and he said, no charge. I said what about my Xrays, and he said, we will bill your insurance co. for that, but no charge to you. I left. I contacted on internet SC Dental Assn. and got no reply. I looked up Aspen Dental on line, and saw many complaints. I can go to a local DDS for $75.00 and pay for it myself, as soon as I get the money. My insurance, Humana Plus at the time, paid Aspen. I wrote them a letter and complaint, but I doubt they did anything. I think frauds like this should be put out of business. I met two friends after that, who were asking who to go to.. One spent over $7, 000 and still needed to get plates now. the other was told the same as me and losing all her teeth, and was scared to death. I did not believe them, so I am not scared like her, but I still need the cleaning, I wasted my time, waiting to be seen, and going through all that, plus the radiation and exrays and my day wasted for nothing but a bunch of horrible lies.
Thank you for listening. Lorayne Pate, 532 E. Airport Road, Greer, SC 29651

In 2013 I had my teeth pulled and dentures made. I had a small raised are on the left side of the roof of my mouth. Instead of the dentist finding out what it was, he made my dentures with a hole in it to go around the raised area instead of finding out what it was. I kept returning and telling him it was growing and he told me it was my gums and bones settling and would reline them again. In April 2015 I went back again because I was experiencing severe pain and could not wear my dentures. When I returned there was a whole new staff there and they were completely shocked rhat the dentures were made this way. I was sent for a Catscan and was told that this was a tumor and most likely high-end cancer(thank god it was not) Aspen Dental by business description that there doctors can determine if you have adequate bone to support your dentures, plus check for bone fractures, cysts, tumors, etc.

I have never in my life ever had a toothache but after having work done at Aspen Dental, I am in so much pain. They did a bad repair job on my front teeth and when I came in to get it fixed along with fixing some other work that they had done. I received another bill for the same job. I am in the hole for over $3500+ but now I have to go to another dentist to fix all the bad job that Aspen was suppose to be fixing. They guarantee their work but do not honor their guarantees. What can we do to rectify this bad business practice?

Aspen dental did my daughters teeth almost a year ago. i paid 13, 000.00 up front and my insurance paid them 1700.00 to remove her teeth and have have dentures put in. it has been a nightmare ! the temp dentures did not fit at all causing her to not be able to wear them at all. 6 months later they claim that it is her fault that she has bone spurs on her gums now and in need of yet another surgery ! this other surgery will cost me 4000.00 more to get done and then they will make her final dentures. I did learn my lesson on paying up front on anything with this ! My daughter is disabled and age 26 so she does not have the 4000.00 to get the second surgery and I myself do not have anymore money to pay out !. I spent what savings i did have to them to even get her teeth pulled. I need to know if i can come in on the lawsuit or if I need to file my own... 15.000.00 is a lot of money to put out just to remover a half of mouth of teeth and a set of dentures that she can't even get right now !

I only went to aspen dental because they were a preferred provider for my insurance company. Now I'm wondering what the kick back was to my insurance. Why else would anyone refer to this bunch of con artists and thieves.

I started with Aspen in Nov.2014, had I done more research I would not have set foot in the door. To start the financial adviser insisted I use their credit company although they took Care Credit (no interest) which I had. Expecting a check to pay in full in 8 weeks I said okay...1'st bill I paid $1000.00 next bill had $149.00 in interest and I paid in full. Now the fun begins..at every point..any inter-action..they have a script they follow...The temporary teeth were full of pointy pieces of plastic and were not properly smoothed and I had to return 4 times...after being told " I should expect discomfort" over the phone..when they finally saw the temps and fixed them I was comfortable..the teeth were pretty...then comes the permanent teeth UGLY all gums little teeth..when I complained I was told that the" smaller teeth were more feminine ". When I signed off I added an amendment that I hated the teeth...so now I had a credit balance of over $800.00. And after my last cleaning ( I've had two)of my 8 remaining teeth it's $407.00. I asked for a refund and was told I would receive it within 7 to 10 days..guess what...so I called and was put on hold 5 times and then told that the office manager would have to call me back before the close of business..guess what...And I find out that they have been charging $231.00 to clean 8 teeth! This was yesterday..I have asked in the past for a print out of charges and they looked at me like I had two heads...

I am in complete agreement with every complaint I have read. Everything I experienced was a total lie or misrepresentation down to what I would consider credit fraud as I was approved through there ACTION for a carecredit card with a 5000$ balance, which they billed in full before completing work. I have had horrible credit and unable to be approved for any sort of financing from the time I fell deeply in debt to creditors and collection agencies in my early 20's yet through their in office application process I was approved and immediately billed for $5, 0000 dollars without any proof of income or required forms of identification. I came in for 1 chipped tooth to be examined and was talked into and convinced I would need all 8 of my front teeth top and bottom extracted and would be having them replaced with temporary partials and all dental work that would bring me to the point of a totally and completely healthy repaired mouth for the $5000 dollars I was approved for and be prepared for and awaiting an upper and lower bridge for an additional $5000 dollars. Well as it stands the agreed dental "plan" they proposed left me with No front teeth and temporary partials that are not formed to my mouth (do not remotely fit) that I can't really wear as a result as they gag me by the bite being so off that my tongue is restricted to the back one inch area of my mouth, as the bottom partials "teeth" contact the highly mis shapen "roof of my mouth" part of my upper temp partials when I close to bite. I complained about this from the time they took the mold to cast them and could feel a huge gap in between the casting material and the roof of my mouth. I was repeatedly told, they are just temporary. Not too mention within the first week of having them a front tooth came out of the partial and my call for an appointment was deflected for over a week. I had to super glue it back in just to be presentable for my job. When I finally saw them for an adjustment, as that's all they would offer to do and rush me out the door, I many times complained of the total inability to wear them based on their misshapen form told me there was nothing they would do, as I voided the warranty ( I was unaware existed) by superglueing in the tooth that fell out, as that had no effect on the issue I was having with them. I also am left with a rotting molar that they now say needs a $1000 crown (not part of the agreed plan) a filling I received a month ago fell out today, as I complained the next day and every week sense that it was coming out in a sandy disintegrating form every time I brushed too be told it was fine, until it fell out today. 5, 000 dollars in debt, not including the $975 they just billed me for x-rays and additional work I didn't not ask for or agree too. A toothin horrible pain that the filling came out that when I called was told the office SALES MANAGER would return my call to know avail, and on top of it all, no chance ways or means to do anything but be in debt, pain, left without teeth, or even fitting patials and know way or chance I can get any further work completed or even their poor work repaired. I was lied to misled, and manipulated in so many ways under the pretence of having a repaired affordable fix to my dental situation by my desire to do something for my health, self confidence, self esteem, and painful situation only to be left worse off than I was before my first visit and now ignored left high and dry with nothing more than debt, no front teeth and a lot of pain. I am far from a person looking for a free ride, free work or to be debt free. I am currently on the verge of bankruptcy actually. It is a matter now of being taken on an expensive ride and left in a horrible situation through there what seems to be many dishonest and fraudulent actions and now lack there of any action. If my account of this experience only serves as a warning to others my time writing this was well spent. I would love anyone's help and guidance in information or direction on any action I may be able to take as well. Being it sound advice in righting a wrong properly or a class action lawsuit. I am in Indiana and my email is soulsincommunion@Gmail.com. My name is Nathan and would appreciate any help on this matter. Again at the very least as I am not optimistic about this situation being corrected, please beware of this HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ASPEN DENTAL can lead you into. Thank you. And again any help or advice wpould be appreciated greatly.

Hello,

I recently had an absolutley horrible experience at Aspen Dental. I was lied to and have the print out of 3 to 4 thousand dollars worth of work that they said I needed which my Uncle who was on vacation and is my actual Dentist confirmed with multiple X Rays that I did not need any of this work and I was being taken for. I have not moved on this yet and am going to leave my tooth the way it is so we can prove they are a rip off and thieves. I am willing to work with a private investigator and go in to get the work done undercover knowing they are going to do it so we can catch them in the act if anyone wants to work with me on this let me know. Thank you. You can contact me at sharp1213@gmail.com

I worked at this terrible place and I am ashamed. They used to have meetings about pushing sales in order to win bonuses for beatings out the other aspen dentals in the area. The doctors would joke around about how stupid the people were. The great prices they offer on the dentures are a scam. They make them out of crappy acrylic material and market them as premium dentures. They actually make most of the dentures in the office with people who don't even hold degrees. They constantly had people complaining about the dentures fitting right. They would only adjust them and keep pushing the people out the door. They would push out people who actually needed to be seen for people that already had procedures scheduled that wrre going to make them more money. I saw a man in the office sitting in a chair with teeth falling out of his mouth and he waited over an hour to just be seen. They only cared about cash and pushing people into expensive decisions when there was many other alternatives. I am disgusted by the stuff I witnessed

They charged me for pulling more teeth than I had. The tops teeth are not straight. The bottom partial did not fit and was told they had to re-due it I am still waiting for it 2 years later. I went to a real dentist and received a bottom partial and now my insurance company will not cover any of it because aspen charged my insurance for something that I do not have. You are only allowed to receive partials every 5 years so far I am in the hole for 3550.00. I am appealing this they are the worst! They actually told me I was dismissed because I wanted to know when and where my partials were that I paid for!

I was not aware of thus action. I went to Aspen Dental because Mt teeth were falling out. I spent many appointments there. I had teeth removed to "make room " for the partial plates. I had my teeth ground down which I was not ttold needed to be done. I got my terr and they are terrible. They run up hill fro left to right. They are no where ne'er the color of my.
teeth. They do nit fit. They gag me. I had care credit and the bill was 4400$. I think I was taken unfair advantage of. I think work was done that was not necessary. I often say that I did nit get my teeth. I do not wear them as they hurt and gage me. I did go back and they did one adjudtment. Then I was told Tnt needed a feline...they. were new teeth!

I'm probably the most angry + frustrated consumer with every aspect of Aspen Dental's practices since 2/26/2014 and still continuing now over 1 yr. later. Since being sucked in by their misleading + deceptive advertising constantly on TV + in print I brought my son (with no dental insurance) in for the free exam, xrays + evaluation. It was the worst + most costly mistake I've ever made in my entire life and I was a fool to go along with their ploy. The whole nightmare is so involved it would be too much to say right here but we both are so disgusted, disgruntled + desperate. The office is located in Haverhill, MA and should be held accountable for the lies+ all the problems they incurred. PLEASE HELP US ! Is it too late?

I currently have an abscess because the Dentist drilled to far when doing a crown. They left cement in the tooth which caused nerve aggravation and all around pain. I was provided oral antibiotics instead of topical so the infection never cleared up. Now I have to have the 1000.00 crown drilled into and the antibiotic put directly in the tooth, grt a root canal, then get another crown. The messed up part, there's no dentist to do it I was referred to an outside dentist who wants 1000.00 up front😡 Is out of network and will still have to do a crown. In need of a lawyer! !

My insurance company covered 60% of my procedure. I checked both with my insurance company and aspen before the exam. I paid my remaining balance in full with cash. For the past 8 months I've received debt notifications from aspen dental and third party bill collectors. Aspen claims that every time they submit the information to my insurance company that my insurance company sends them a notice back stating that aspen needs to provide more information. Also, when I first started doing business with aspen dental they recommended all of these additional procedures. Out of no where they lost their oral surgeon and recommended me to one in the local area. When I went to see the surgeon outside of the company the oral surgeon was absolutely astounded that aspen dental would even recommend oral surgery and said what aspen recommended was not necessary and a waste of money. When I went back to aspen dental they apologized and claimed to be confused. I had some crowns and a bridge put in. That was it. I paid everything the day of my appointment via check and it waswas a good check. I double checked with the bank. This company is ruining my credit and sending me debt collections. I need a lawyer in the illinois area that can help me my I can be contacted via email at marirhianna@outlook.com or mobile phone at [protected]

I had the very worst traumatic experience ever at Aspen Dental. I had a tooth that broke off and in order to keep my teeth from shifting and to extract the sharp point of tooth still left in the gum. I had braces as a teenager and my teeth shift very easily. The tooth was unsaveable due to me having a root canal in this tooth about a year before w/an oral surgeon and never could financially afford to get both processes done; the root canal and the cap. Eventually over time the tooth became brittle and broke off. I choose to go to Aspen Dental due to them being a new business in the area and I feel it is good to support new businesses in this economy. They also had the market cornered for evening services and being a full-time college student, wife and mother of 3 boys, and Federal Student worker for the college, the evening appointments seemed like a perfect fit. Little did I know that I was going sacrifice time with my beloved family. I had no problem with the friendliness of the office staff, they were all very nice and inviting. First, i was x rayed and examined and then shuffled along to the office financial manager, who was also nice. He then went through different financing plans for a huge amount of money over $3, 000. He could not break down any charges for me and could not tell me how he came up with the amount. We are not borrowing people typically but there was no way that we could pay that out of pocket. I also do not have dental, health, life insurance due to attending school full time and mu other responsibilities. My wait time in the waiting room was not bad either but once I was in that dental chair I was left for hours - yes hours at a time. I missed dinner with my family and sporting events to sit in the chair and watch their TV. I was literally full of anxiety with just the thought of having an appointment after work. They were very rough and would disappear for long periods of time. I received a bridge eventually. It took several months and I have had infection pockets arise under the fake teeth The overall look is surprisingly good but I was the one who actually chose the proper color. Every Time they gave me shots in the roof of my mouth and cheeks that hurt soooo bad. Terrible experience and will never go back even if they offer evening hours and financing plans. Not trying to bash them - just unsatisfied and have had pain and emotional damage due to my bad experience.

There is a class action lawsuit being filed and we need your help with information relative to your experience with Aspen Dental.

Please contact me at researchpartners@verizon.net to provide a contact number that I can provide to the attorney filing the action. Your help would be very much appreciated. Aspen has complaints against them all over the country and we need to put a stop to their wrongful business practices.

I'm glad to come across all this comments, my boyfriend is currently going through a horrible experience and we have contact a few lawyer in NC and no one is welling to take the case, we are desperate to find a solution. They extracted all of my boyfriend theeth and told him he will be permanent fixed denture and after the completed the extraction he was referred to talk to the manager because someone in front office make a mistake with pricing and the work he was told to cost $10, 000 went up to $21, 000 but now after our complain with the manager and the owner who is the doctor, she says that permanent fixed denture is above her skill level and told us to find a prosthodontic in the are. So, we went to a prosthodontic and expend extra 2, 000 in evaluation and they came out with the total cost of 50, 000 to fix the disaster the made on him.

Aspen dental is far from cheap if you are looking for cheap and nice go to affordable dentures . At least they look nice and fit perfect from everyone I know . I truly wish I would have researched more I went to aspen and what a mistake it was I got the most expensive set of dentures they have thinking they would fit good and look nice well neither happened. They say they'll give your smile back oh ya my smile is soo ugly I have to cover my mouth when I laugh because of the big gums and teeth they put in my mouth it is so embarrassing I am almost in a depression because of this I only had them put in right after I had all my teeth pulled so I wouldnt have to go without teeth and be embarrassed well that didnt work . I have tried and tried to get them to fix them or give me a new pair but they say o dont worry bout how ugly they are just remember these are just temporary and your new set will be much better. So I guess just stay inside for 6 months and dont worry .. Ya easy for them to say, , , I would really like something done about this and trust me they will do something about it or I am planning on seeing a lawer.I am having to pay almost six thousand dollars for this set of teeth that I hate. Sad very Sad...

When profit trumps competence, capitalism becomes piracy. My experience? They insisted a tooth could not be saved and had to be pulled. I just discovered that not only COULD it be saved, but the tooth the DID pull was the WRONG one! They also tried to rip me off for several thousand dollars in periodontal work, which I subsequently found out (from a REAL dentist) would have been unnecessary. They botched work on my wife as well.

Also, I cannot figure out which business model they are going for since they do not offer low prices, good customer service or quality care. I have found several news articles/reports about Aspen dental law suits and that the Attorney General office had to get involved forcing Aspen to pay people back and to change some of their policies and procedures. Yet people still go there even after they are on the news about their shady practices. But then I am sure everyone can think of at least one if not several businesses in their town or city that you have to wonder how they stay in business. I know of an auto dealer where everyone who has purchased a used car there complains that the cars dont run right and yet they go right back to buy another car. There's no explaining other people. But one thing is for sure... they can't claim that they were not warned.

I attempted to contact them numerous ways and only got an answer after threats of law suits. They claim they will answer your emails and return your calls but dont expect that to happen. I have never in my life had an issue with any doctor or any dentist. But honestly I would rather let my teeth rot than return to that place. Anyone who goes there after reading the thousands of complaints on several websites is a fool. I wish I had been smart enough to check them out online before I went. I am now left with permanent damage. I did not choose them because they are cheap. Actually they are one of the more expensive offices in the area in which I live. I choose them because they could get me in quick. I have no issues at all with paying for good dental care. It is worth it if it is quality care. I had to go to several dentists since then to correct their mistakes. These other offices told me they get a lot of people coming from Aspen whose dental work was not done correctly. The one said they should be closed and the other dentists cannot figure out why they are still in business. They are good however with coming up with settlements once a lawyer is involved.

I have an appointment with Aspen Dental next week. I have read all the complaints, and still have to ask myself, if they are so bad, why are they still in business. They have to have happy customers somewhere. I am going to take the knowledge that I have learned in the complaints with me, I am not going to be "forced" into anything, it is my money I'm spending, and I'll spend it how I feel it's needed. I could complain about every doctor I have ever seen. I could complain how it took 4 years to be diagnosed with fibromyalgia...however, I know that just because I wasn't 100 % happy doesn't mean they didn't do their best. No one has said anything about calling the 800 number that is given to them for complaints. I am also going to do some more research into the class action lawsuit. I'm a pretty opinionated person, so if I feel pressured, or if I feel they are not doing their job (which is telling me the best route to take with my teeth) then I will say something...and walk out...I will repost afterwards however, because, i agree with Gar and elephant... You have to pick and choose, if you want cheap..that's exactly what you are going to get all around.

I posted above . Another son who lives in Gainesville also went to Aspen, had all his teeth removed and got dentures . He has had so many problems, he did call the Corporate Office and talked to them but it has been
two months and he has not heard from them . He is still paying on his dentures, . He said when he gets them paid for he is going to " a real dentist " and get dentures.

GAR you are right on. I get so tired of reading the complaints of these idiots against dental offices. The snake who posted the class action lawsuit promising no cost legal representation is an ambulance chasing shark. All of the complaints I have read lately are people pissed about paying for services & not liking the prices. They think that if they ### & moan loud enough after they have had their dental work completed, that they will get their money back & end up with free dental work. Dentistry would be a much easier job if the patients were not attached to the teeth.

I just posted the reply above . I didn't go to Aspen because I thought they charged less. I went there because I had a low credit score . They got credit for me in just a few minutes . I had $1000. to pay down.
SO I thought that was the only way I could get my dentures . It seems that they have dental students or students who have just graduated working there with no experience !

Aspen is known for large treatment plans. I worked an office on the other end of a strip mall from Aspen. We could watch out our front window, patients would walk out of Aspen, papers in hand, down the sidewalk past the grocery store, and into our office. This happened almost daily. So I saw the treatment plans. Did the full work up myself on these people. We even re-took the x-rays at no cost. They charted cavities that weren't there. Recommended scaling and root planing, when pocket depth measurements were in the normal range of 0-3mm with no to very light calculus present. An $8000 treatment plan was reduced to $400. This type of scenario was repeated more often than not. Technically what Aspen was doing was malpractice/insurance fraud.

Oh hell no you irresponsible idiot. I went and not only have a terrible bite but got suckered into crowns across the front. They wedged them in so tight it hurts to chew. One I should have had a root canal but was ignored. My husbands crown sticks out so bad his partials don't fit. But we are paying an not arguing about having to pay but about coming out hurting more.

For me it isn't about the price. It's about the insurance fraud and malpractice. I paid my portion which I didn't complain about.$850 out of pocket in advance. This is exactly why I have an HSA. At that time they cleaned my teeth and took impressions for a partial. When I came for my next appointment to get six teeth extracted they tried to charge me another $750 and wouldn't see me till I paid again. Luckily after I came out from a partially completed procedure they found the error and refunded me the second charge. Now about the procedure itself. They were supposed to extract six teeth. They refused to give me gas. They had all the equipment but said everyone in the building had to be certified and not everyone was. They could give my anesthesia but it would be $800 more. They could only get three out and left one mutilated because it was too hard to get out and they decided to leave the other two alone . Mid way into extracting this tooth and breaking it into several pieces they tried to jump to the other side. They couldn't give me enough numbing to even work on that side. I had no pain or abscess to negate the effects of the numbing. They had given me about six injections in each side. So they went back to the tooth they busted up. About another thirty minutes in the doctor rolled over to the computer. "Did we take new x-rays? These are three years old!" So they told me they couldn't work on me any more at this point. So they test fitted my upper partial and it was crooked and wouldn't sit against the roof of my mouth. They also forgot the clasps. They told me to use it anyway until they could have now made them pulled them out. While I'm still sitting here bleeding they proceed to take another impression then shove the partial back in again. They wanted me to wait three weeks with a busted tooth and a fully exposed root for their surgeon to be back on site. Or they would give me a referral to an oral surgeon which I accepted. Luckily I got an appointment scheduled the next week and had to go to work in pain the entire week waiting. They only gave me enough medication to last two days, my left lower jaw was swollen up to the size of a golf ball and I couldn't open my mouth more than an inch for a week. I had to have my wife call and insist they prescribe antibiotics to prevent me from getting an infection with the exposed tooth of I didn't already have one from the swollen jaw. . Now to the insurance fraud. I'm still waiting on my existing if benefits to arrive but I found out after getting a bill in the mail for my first impressions and cleaning the insurance didn't pay for the cleaning to the tune of $247. I got a text the last week thanking me for confirming my appointment on November 1st. I was their with my wife for her appointment the next day. (Long story, her crown was the wrong size and color, detached within 12 hours, they refused to see her the next day to fix it for free) I ask about it because I did not confirm it. That's when I'm supposed to see their surgeon. She told me it was too take impressions for a partial. I told her I already had two impressions taken and already went to a surgeon to finish the extractions. She checked and found my partial in a drawer by the desk but told me I couldn't have them unless I came in for an appointment on November 1st. I asked about a refund for the teeth they didn't get to finish and make sure they didn't bill my insurance for the three teeth. She told me they couldn't refund me till the insurance was cleared up and use my money to pope say anything they didn't cover them credit the rest back to my account for future visits not back to my HSA. I called MetLife to check any they explained to me that they hadn't paid Aspen anything yet because they never submitted my full updated x-rays. So I expect to be getting a bill for several thousand dollars from them in the mail and day now.i told them they won't be getting one from Aspen and they should make sure they don't get charged for one.

Things Aspen Administration needs to change if a patient has insurance utilize that first before requiring a cash deposit to schedule next appointment. More Productive Xrays, dental exam and evaluation by hygienists should be completed in 1 visit not 3! UPFRONT Transparency that you might not receive treatment by 3rd or 4th visit and all other dental issues must be taken care of which will be included in your treatment plan on average btwn $2000-20, 000. My discovery was Aspen Dental didn't request my insurance benefits . I spoke with a representative that informed me of this. Aspen financial Services Clerk required me to pay a 1/3 down of the cost she stated not covered by my insurance. They also push clients to fill out their credit applications. They also get a incentive %. I requested that they send these charges to insurance for authorization. They said my request was sent to the main office however if I want to keep the apt I would have to pay out of pocket expenses in full upfront. I question again "How do you know what the insurance is going to pay?" I only chose this provider because they were in-network and I wanted to have my teeth cleaned! In-network to me doesn't mean $700 out of pocket for cleaning and having to pay upfront to schedule an appointment!

If Aspen participates in Everybody's Insurance, then by default, they are the lowest cost provider. Aspen advertises Dentures starting at $295.00..., you cannot even buy the quality materials to make a denture at that price, much less pay for the fabrication cost from a high quality dental lab, and you still have to account for the doctors time and the overhead of the business. High quality dentures made by a prosthodontist would run anywhere from $2200.00 to $4000.00 per arch and would take 5 or more visit to the specialist before the dentures would even be close to being finished. It is reasonable to believe that a majority of dentist at Aspen are just General Practitioners, not Specialist in every field of dentistry. If you were to have heart problems, would you rely on a General Practitioner to address your heart problems? No, you would go to a cardiologist or any other heart specialist that has the additional schooling for your particular issue. We do not shop around for AFFORDABLE brain surgeons, eye surgeons, or heart surgeons, but we do for cosmetic surgery (liposuction or boob jobs) or dentistry...And then we are just flabbergasted that we did not get the results we expected. Dentistry is affordable in Europe and Russia, I've seen these results first hand, and I would not have that kind of dentistry done on my family dog. You are basically going to a YUGO dealer and expecting it to drive like a BMW, good luck with that.

To Gar8601, Aspen does NOT offer the lowest price by any means. Have you compared their rates or do you even know their rates? Definitely not the "cost effective" choice, especially considering their malpractice will cause further medical or dental bills.

In order for a business to be profitable, they can only offer 2 out 3 choices from a business model to be successful. The choices are price, quality, or customer service. If you want great quality and great customer service, you cannot be concerned about price. ( Think Macy's, Lexus, Mercedes). Now if you are shopping at Aspen because they offer the lowest PRICE, you can choose great customer services or outstanding quality but not both, that is the business model you have chosen by price shopping . Obviously the people complaining choose ASPEN because they offer the lowest price, so to make up for being cost effective, ASPEN must pick either lower quality materials or hire less experienced employees, or go out of business. You get what you pay for & if you want to go CHEAP, the you will have ill fitting dentures, fillings, etc. If WALMART offered dentistry, all the complainers would be first in line.

walmart will do refunds. they will take phone calls . they will listen to complaints . I complained many times during my procedure of getting teeth each time they tried to fix them they just got worse . I paid $ 2200. for these teeth . They look like they came out of a Cracker Jack Box . My mouth gets blisters and hurts terrible when I eat anything . The teeth hurt me just being in my mouth . I live on only $1000. a month and can not afford another set of teeth . when they dismissed me my son was in the last stage of cancer and I made two or three appointments with them that I couldn't keep because I had to take him to the hospital suddenly . I informed before the appointment each time . After I didn't see them for THREE MONTHS they said " you have waited too long, we are under no obligation anylonger to help with your teeth or refund !" I was the only one to take care of my son, he passed shortly after that . When I try to bite a pizza it HURTS . I am still trying to find a way to get teeth that fit . I had a dentist in Louisiana that made a set that that fit perfect, but I live in Florida now .

Aspen is NOT low price dentistry ! The advertising done is "bait and switch"! They get you in their office and sit you down to sign treatment papers and never reveal the true cost until after treatments and it is NOT low cost ! Duped and "forced" to have unnecessary work saying the Dr will not work on "bridge" until the gingivitis treatment and cleaning is done ! I do not have gingivitis :( but they will tell you that you do ! I was forced to have the treatment . Charged for an appointment that was two months ahead ($153) Never again will I use Aspen Dental !

GAR. . . I think you are seriously misled in regards to aspen being so much cheaper than everyone else. That's not really the case. I chose Aspen due to how well they advertised the fact that they accept plans which can be activated immediately upon payment, as well as payment plans. There is also the fact that this is a chain and there are multiple location to chose from in the event you are in another location and need dental work and want to get it from a provider you are familiar with. Other dentists certainly do accept various plans and have payment options, but most of them do not advertise to the point where you can set up your coverage and appointment online with just some clicks to get started, without even having to make a phone call. Believe me, I shopped around and although I was aware of the plans and payments options, I had no idea what the bottom line charges would be until after my first exam. Looking back, the prices are not that much different from other dentists I spoke to that did quote me various prices for certain procedures I knew I would need. Of course they could not give a full assessment over the phone, but I did do isolated procedure price comparisons. Your explanation as to why some people deserve to get screwed proves that you are so far out of touch with what is really happening here, that you should be ashamed you even posted. If you are not ashamed for that, then you certainly should be ashamed that you would excuse MALPRACTICE as a matter of price. How stupid and thoughtless can a person possibly be? Regardless of how "cheap" a dentist may be, that will never excuse not properly cleaning equipment that has been in other people's bloody mouths.
