Arnel Residential / I have had to deal with some shady apartment complexes over the years, but none that were this bad

1 United States Review updated:

I went to look at an apartment, at an Arnel Residential property, Wimbledon Glen at 1142 Buckingham dr. in Costa Mesa CA.

The apartments were fairly nice but nothing was available. My wife and I were informed that we could fill out the deposit form and put down $200 to get on a waiting list for an apartment. We figured great, if we cant find anything else, at least we have a back-up plan. The policy was, as they told us, and showed us in writing; if for any reason we do not come up on the list with in one year, or if we decide to drop off the list, our money would be refunded with in 60 days by the arnel corporate office.

That was about 4 months ago. Every time we call, they tell us they just processed the payment and it was sent out, or they havnt gotten to it yet, or it will be there Monday, EVERY TIME FOR almost 4 months. We paid with credit card, is it really that hard to process a refund? I use a credit card machine where I work and I can generate a refund in 3 min or less.

We have talked to the property manager, and we have tried to contact arnel. The only contact the corporate office gives on their site is a e-mail address. when you send a letter to the address, it is routed back to the property manager and you are told it is in process.

If anyone has any thought on how to deal with this company, please let me know. I am about ready to call a collection company.

I've had to deal with them before, but unfortunately you must not understand the rule. It takes up to 3 weeks to process is what they told me, you must make sure they have the right address to your home or billing address.
