Ariella Ragdoll Cattery review: unethical behavior 1

Erika Jaracs of Ariella Ragdoll Cattery advertised one of her "healthy" Ragdoll kittens for sale on Facebook marketplace group.in addition to the group rule requiring all for sale kittens to have tested negative for HCM (or through parentage) + providing proof to buyers, it is also standard for breeders to genetically test cats that they breed so that they are not putting more genetically deficient cats into the world.

Purchase price was 1800€ ($2, 209.89 USD). She requested a deposit of 400€ ($506.59 via Paypal) which I paid. She then said her friend Aniko Kreszan would deliver the kitten to me, but I had to meet her at an out-of-state airport. I asked her to call her airline to get airline rates, but she insisted on using Aniko. Aniko then requested $600 USD (which I also paid) and an additional $600 upon delivery of the kitten to me ($1, 200 total to deliver the kitten to me in addition to the approx. $2, 209 for the purchase price of the kitten).

Before tendering the full remaining balance of the kitten to Erika, I asked her to send me a recent picture of the kitten, picture of the vaccination records, veterinary exam / paperwork, genetic testing results, and a picture of the kitten with the carrier as proof she was shipping, all of which amounted to proof that the kitten was healthy. She was not able to provide this. After a back-and-forth very stressful conversation, she admitted that she does not genetically test her cats, not even for HCM. She then told me HCM is an unreliable test, most breeders do not test for it, and if a cat looks healthy, then it is healthy and will live a long life. All false information, I knew for a fact. I corrected her and told her she should not be breeding cats that she does not genetically test!

I then requested my initial payments back from both Aniko and Erika.

Aniko declined to refund my payment. She then started saying it was "nonrefundable" yet she never said that before I paid her. She then went on "yelling" at me through Facebook messages. I had to dispute the payment on Paypal. She messaged me mocking me for disputing the transaction, said she called the airline to cancel the flight, and then told Paypal the flight was booked and confirmed. Paypal declined my dispute because of that, so I had to dispute it with my credit card company.

Erika said she would refund my payment. I waited patiently for a week. Then she sent me a payment for $470.58 (Paypal then deducted $21.01 and then sent me a notification to provide tracking information for my shipment to Erika). I messaged Erika and asked her why did she send me a payment as if she's buying something from me and why didn't she refund through Paypal? She said she wasn't going to be responsible for any Paypal fee, and then went on and disputed the $470.58 payment to me to which Paypal now requires I provide tracking information and proof that I shipped her something. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company for this as well.

Dealing with Erika, a breeder who does not genetically test her cats for diseases / disorders and markets them as "healthy," has caused me a lot of money damages.in addition to the refunds of more than $1100 I am trying to get back from her and her friend Aniko, I also lost an additional $280 booking a flight to the out-of-state airport I was supposed to meet Aniko at.

I hope that my experience will caution anyone who comes across Erika Jaracs to buy a Ragdoll kitten (pet quality or breeder quality) as well as her friend Aniko Kreszan who will "ship/deliver" the kitten. I sent both of the ladies good faith payment, and in return, they misled me about what they were advertising, are fighting tooth and nail to keep my money and inconvenience me as much as possible.
