ARGUS Insurance Group / Charges prorated on duplication of policy

I decided to switch home owner insurance to Citizens and the cancellation arrived 5 days later after the bank issued payment to ARGUS. Therefore, I had duplicated coverage of two insurances for about 5 days. ARGUS, although, had no risk of loss cost or claim to be issued to their organization, stilled prorated charges totaling $120.74 for the five days until the cancellation was processed. I called customer services and explained the situation where their company had no liability or risk of losing money for those days and that they were strictly generating revenue due to a technicality and duplication of policy. Argus response was very definite and cited their company policy. Furthermore, they were very specific in letting me know that they are not making exceptions with anyone at this point regardless of the situation. I will recommend consumers to think before utilizing ARGUS as their insurance carrier in the state of FLORIDA.

    Call the Florida Department of Insurance. If you provide a copy of the declarations page for the new policy showing it's inception they may have to give you a refund, unless the cancellation was in the middle of a policy period.
