I did the 7 day free trial. On the 6th day I cancelled. They still charged me for 1 yr. I have called my credit card company to get it taken off and to block them. I should have looked at your complaint board first. This is about looking for your heritage and they take advantage. DON'T USE THIS SERVICE. Can't find on the site how to e-mail them?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I signed up in November when I needed an official birth certificate. Then I thought I'd keep it up and do a little research. EVERYTHING had more fees attached. So I canceled after 4 months.
Today I was looking at my bank and found a $55+ charge for my annual membership fee. I was trying to find an actual email address to send my complaint asking for my refund within 12 hrs. All I can find is support@Archives.com, or a form online. So I will fill out the form online and send an email to the other form. I really didn't want to have to get a new credit card, but it looks like that is what I'm going to have to do. I just want something in writing, proving that I sent my letter. I'm a scrapbooker and will post links to this site and another, as well as info on all of my internet media sites where other scrapbookers follow me about them. At least then they'll get a little negative press.

I have just got off the phone with the BBB in Omaha, Nebraska, where this company is supposedly based. I have found out the following information: This company is ACTUALLY known as INFLECTIONS on the BBB records. The complaints started 6 YEARS ago in the Omaha BBB offices.
The INFLECTIONS company is based in San Jose, California - the Omaha, NE post office box is a front. The BBB is NOT happy with this company, and they receive DAILY complaints about them and their business practices. The Omaha BBB is asking that complaints be filed with the San Jose, CA BBB, along with filing one with the Omaha office.
This company is operating under a dummy name and address in Omaha that is displayed on the internet. Next, I'm calling San Jose to get additional information. I was only ripped off $39 - got that stopped by cancelling my little prepaid credit card, so they can't get any more money from me. But for those of you who have been ripped off to the tune of up to $100 and more - YES! Pursue this as hard as you can! These people need to be STOPPED.
I do not have a complaint. but, I came here first. I do want to find info about my background, so bad. but, I don't have enough to start searching. I want to say how sorry to those that got taken. but, also thanks to them, I will not fall the same way. this company should be ashamed of the way they are cheating people out of their money. and too bad charges cannot be filed against. its so sad to know there is so many dishonest people in the world today.
this company is such a scam they tell you its free then they give you no helpful info and in order to get the info you want they charge you 39.95 and you still dont get the info. then you cancel and they still charge you. and you cant get hold of them by phone only by email. but dont you know they dont even answer your emails. i am so pissed about this. BEWARE BEWARE DONT USE THIS SITE!
I got nothing. They claimed they had tons of information, and they had nothing. The Omaha BBB is NOT happy with these people, especially since they are using an Omaha P.O. box and address as their contact. Plus, they are in the BBB files under another company name entirely, which is not going over well with the BBB either. They are getting tons of complaints on these people.
The site says they are affiliated with ancestry.com so I called ancestry also. And THEY are getting complaints on them, too. Ancestry also stressed that they are only an affiliate - they have no control over moneys being taken from clients, but they are NOT happy with them. They did tell me that this company does not have access at all to our personal information or any of our account information - ie. credit/debit card numbers, personal info, etc. I will agree with ancestry on this - nothing that I have on ancestry is on archives.com.
San Jose, California - where they are REALLY based out of, under the business name of INFLECTIONS, has a huge file on them also. This is a major fraud and scam, and should be completely avoided at all costs.
I agree it is a Scam. I got hooked into a free trial as well; once I learned that very day that the information they said they had was not there I cancelled. I got a confirmation that the account was cancelled. They charged my credit card anyway. When I called to complain they said that I had not cancelled. I insisted I had. They said they would then cancel it so I would not be charged again. They refused to refund my money. They have a face book page. I suggest you take your stories to their wall. This organization is a scam flat out.
their 'free service' reminds me of the ClassMates.com "free service" -- all hype, and NOTHING free -- Now I hear that there is a settlement, which Classmates does not direct admit guilt but will 'refrain from prior behavior' sending unrequested email messages, that send you to a "membership signup" page with nothing else provided...watch out Archives.com -- if you aren't careful -- members may decide you are not being truthful with them.
