ANTHONY HAIR BOUTIQUE Staff did not inform me of charges - Ridiculous charges as a result

On 3 October 2012, I went to Anthony Hair Boutique to have my fringe cut. My hairstylist told me that it is $10 for the cut. Upon sitting down, he asked if I wanted a wash and I agreed to it. However, he did not inform me of the charges. When washing my hair, another hairstylist told me that she would put a special conditioner after shampooing and I recalled her saying "$5". I thought that the hair wash was only $5, as she said it fast and under her breath. My hairstylist who cut my fringe seemed like he did not know what he was doing most of the time. My fringe as a result, did not even come out the way I specified it to be, and it looks like I could have done a better job myself. Upon paying, the lady (curly haired middle aged) informed me that my bill totaled up to $41. I was in deep shock, and questioned why there was an ADDITIONAL $26. She stated that the $26 is for cut, wash and blow. BUT THERE WAS STILL THE $10 CHARGE FOR MY FRINGE. I was confused, and said that the $26 should be inclusive of the fringe. Anybody with common sense would assume that CUT, WASH AND BLOW WOULD OBVIOUSLY INCLUDE THE CUT, NO?
I told her nicely that they should inform customers of the additional charges, which in my case, is the ridiculous price of $26 for a pathetic wash and blow-drying. However, she blatantly told me that "I SHOULD ASK NEXT TIME WHAT". I was furious and really disappointed. I didn't want to make a scene and just paid and left without hesitation. I tried searching for this company's facebook page but to no avail. Maybe this company has many defected customers? Is this how a (fresh) company operates? I somehow think that they are CHEATING MY MONEY BECAUSE I AM ONLY 19. They can be assured that I am a defected customer for sure. I have already warned my friends, colleagues and whatsoever to abstain from going into their salon. I am not asking for a refund here, I just wish that companies like Anthony would respect customers in the future.

ANTHONY HAIR BOUTIQUE creative director not skilled

I went to this salon at Tampines One an hour ago, after reading the reviews online i decided to give it a try. I chose the creative director option because i am very particular with my hairstyle due to the nature of my work. I must say that the service is not bad, the staff are friendly and served with a smile. I instructed the creative director to cut my hair and to be neat. By the end of the cut, my hair was very messy and lacked style and shape. I also kindly asked him to cut shorter for me cause it was very messy, after everything there seem to be no difference. but that's still ok. The overall shape was disappointing, and there was a severe lack of style, like some army boy cut. I also told the creative director that i wanted my fringe to be straight and no parting, but after everything my fringe was not straight and it was really ugly with one side being longer than the other. The worst part is that when he trimmed my sideburns to be flat straight, i told him that i want it to have some shape and to be more pointy, but after 3-4 attempts, he just kept trimming it horizontally flat straight. it was dismal. I can expect this from a junior stylist but not from a creative director. I feel that a stylist must be able to listen to what the customer wants, and cater to his customer's needs. People patronize hair boutiques because they want to look good, not ugly. I was so disappointed that i just left quietly after paying. there was no point for me to make anymore comments to them at that time.

ANTHONY HAIR BOUTIQUE High charge for doing nothing but ruining my hair & cheating manager

I went to the Anthony Hair Boutique in Tampines 1 to have my hair curled. I chose a senior stylist whose rate is also higher than average: $158 for permanent hair curling. After 3 hours in their chilly shop and finally had it done. Then the so-called stylist tried all that he knew to make it look a bit different than before: he used a super-sized hair dryer and various gel and cream. But honestly, it just made my hair bigger but definitely not curlier. After i washed it the next day, nothing is there! But messy-cut hair.

I went back to them 2 days later to ask for refund. But the most radicular thing happened: the manager told me that's "how curly hair should be like" and I had no reason to come back except for coming back with straightened hair, and, of course, wouldn't get any cent back to me. The thing made me stunned was she said that after the same stylist told her the curling actually failed. Although her voice was shaking and she didn't dare to look at me in the eye, I still find this manager rather rude and ridiculous.

From Anthony Hair Boutique -

Regarding the above complaint by little voice. I would like to voice out my part of the story.

On 25th Sept 2010 - she visited our salon and requested to have her hair perm. As she was the first time customer, she was then offered to enjoy the first timer promotion for a perm+cut+treatment @ $158 (stylist) $178 (leading stylist) $198 Director services).
She chosen the stylist level therefore we got our stylist to attend to her services.

During their conversation, she told my stylist that she doesn't want anything that is too curly because she prefer a natural look. So my stylist proceeded with her services after the whole process has ended, the stylist need to blow dry her hair so he used a hair diffuser ( the super-sized dryer she mentioned above.) She do not want to have a complete blow dry and questioned my stylist why is he applying creams on her hair. So my stylist explained to her that it is necessary to apply a leave in volumizer to enhances the curls as well as a hair protection. So she accepted his explanation and left the salon on a semi dry hair condition!

On the 28th Sept 2010 - she came to our salon at around 7.45pm, wanting a full refund due to no curls on her permed hair. So my stylist offered to wash her hair as he will be able to see if it was curl or not. Initial she refused to even have her hair wash and claiming she only want to have a refund! So after much unpleasant conversation, she agreed to let us wash her hair.
After the hair wash, from our professional point of view there was indeed curls on her hair but she claimed that it could hardly be seen. So my stylist asked did she apply anything on her hair to enhance the curl and she said she do not like to apply anything on her hair!

As she was still fuming, My Manager came in to the picture, offering her a re-perm but she insisted she doesn't want a re-perm as it will damage her hair. Hence my Manager offered her a free session of our intensive hair treatment that cost $95 and still she doesn't want to accept and insisted that she wants her money back!

My Manager mentioned to her that we could not refund her any money as this was the Company policy however we are willing to re-do her service for her if she is not satisfied and if she doesn't have time to do it today, she could chose another day at her convenient time.
Her replied was, she do not want any services, just her money and she will not mind if we will refund her half of the services amount.
In a firm tone, my Manager apologised and said that she could not do any mode of refund!
She then commented, " Why Singapore service industry doesn't offer refund to customer?"
Lastly before she left she told my Manager that she is working in a law film and she will blow up this matter.

Thank You.
