AMPCO Contracting / Fraudulent company

1 United States Review updated:
Contact information:

We did a job for AMPCO, and only received a fraction of the total amount due. We have been waiting for well over 6 months for the balance due to us. They recently purchased a new excavator for over $100k and yet, they still can't pay their bills.

The owners are very immature and have a hurry up attitude, that causes equipment damage, property damage, and soon will result in employee injury or worse.

I would definitely think more than twice of choosing to work with or contract with AMPCO. There are too many liability risks involved.

Have you verified that all of the documents are in place and the lien release tracking has been exhausted? Has your companys collection process been worked thoroughly?

Not getting paid for a job that you've already completed in the construction industry is a rare occurrence but it can happen. This can totally be avoided if the right steps are being followed in the lien releaseprocedure and the payment collection process.

The process and guidelines are there for a reason. And it allows you as the subcontractor to get payment on time before the job is complete or you lien the job. The lien process also makes it so that all subcontractors on the job all the way up through to the general contractor have been paid. If you dont pay your subs, than you dont get paid from the GC.

The general contractor on the job should not pay subcontractors who have subsequently not paid their own subcontractors or better known as tier sub-contractors.

I find it very hard to believe that Ampco Contracting or any one of their spinoff companies would allow a subcontractor to go without payment for a job that is complete, even if the job was short and only required one billing.

Try contacting Ampco's controller and ask for a breakdown of the job, your portion of the job, and get the matter resolved. It may just be a document was not submitted correctly or it may be something simple like a lien waiver has not been submitted or is not in place.
