National Readers of North America fraud

On 3/8/19 I received a call from this fraudulent company verifying that I wanted to cancel my magazine subscription. I told the young lady yes and she started telling me all these things about the subscription that I would have to go thru with her so called supervisor! So this guy gets on the phone and start telling me that I would have to answer yes to all the questions but that if I wanted to have the magazine subscription cancelled I have to say no to the very last question.
He then says that everything will be recorded so I said ok that's fine. Then he asks me to verify a credit card that the first four numbers are 4100, only I have no credit card with such numbers. He then says well that is ok if you can't find it, just give me what you got. And stupid me, I give him one. Then he starts saying that I still have 30 months left on my subscription and that after saying yes to all the questions say no at the last one.
So that when something hit me, I don't have another 30 months left I told him, he say oh yes you do we just charged you for your first month of 49.90 after you gave me a credit card. That's when the sparks to started to fly on my ac count. I called this guys every name I could think of including thief, fraud, piece of sh^ and cussed this guy out immensely. He said I don't have to listen to this from you and I told him as long as your on the phone with me you do assh*^&%^. That's when he hung up.
I then proceeded to call my credit card company and report this and there was a charge pending, now they said they would put a note in the file but if the charge doesn't clear then there is nothing they can do about it because I did tell him not to charge my card. That charge has been pending for the last 2 days and has not cleared or gone away yet. That in itself was a little crazy. Kind of in limbo right now, but wanted to share my ripoff story with you guys and hopefully this gets around and these guys are put out of business.
I truly do hope that the attorney general gets of texas get moving on these frauds, I just feel really bad for the people that can not afford this an these guys prey upon them also. Hope they go to jail.

National Readers of North America charges for magazines

I was called by someone from this company National Readers services and was talked into there services. I did not understand what I was agreeing to and used a debit card for a one time payment of $65.17. I did not under stand that was a monthly payment plan. I called the number I found and was told they would cancel my debit card but was passed my trial period and could not refund my money or the monthly payments. They did offer a settlement which was not acceptably to me (over $500). I never have received any magazines and want the transaction cancelled.

I feel I was misled by the sales person and did not understand it was a monthly payment. I am retired and recovering from major back surgery and now they tell me I have a heart problem, but I still need more back surgery so you see I am on a limited income and cannot afford your services.

Would you make sure my account is closed (I have no account number) and the payment is refunded and service stopped.

My Email is: [protected]@gmail.com

Thank you

National Readers of North America magazine subscription

Called and first represented their self as The Publishers Clearinghouse and that my MasterCard ending in xxxx, which they somehow had obtained, was chosen for $250 in gift cards and 4 free magazine subscriptions. All I had to do was verify that the credit card number was mine. I verified the card number and then was told that part of receiving this "gift" from Publishers Clearinghouse was to accept paying for 2 other magazine subscriptions. At this point I declined. The caller stated that I had several payment options available and again I declined. The caller hung up. 5 minutes later I received a text message from my bank telling me that my account had been debited $64.47 by NRNA. I did not grant any person from this business to debit any monies for any reason from my bank account.

National Readers of North America magazine fraud

A few months back I got a ph call from nat.readers of North amer.stating I had won a diamond watch and some Wal-Mart gift card valued at $100 if I would renew my magazine subscription ! I wasn't under the believer that I ordered my mags from them but I said sure they said it was only $16.74 for 4 months which came out to be like around $65.00 but they then stated I could get 3 more mag free since I renewed and if I wasn't satisfied I could cancel they also told me I would get a welcome package with my watch and gift cards I got the package exactly 10 layers with a bill for$782 in installments of around $64.27 A month so I called to cancel because they lied to me my monthly DISABILITY check isn't much more than the whole amount for the mag.but they wouldn't cancel because they said it had been longer than 10days since I renewed and they hung up the ph on me I cannot get them to stop sending magazines and collection noticed. National Readers of North America Unwanted magazine subscriptions - unauthorized credit card charges - unethical behaviour

10/12/16 husband was contacted saying he'd receive a free watch, only had to receive 6 magazines. 3 for 4 years 3 for 1 year and was $57.50. He understood it was one time payment. Received info on it on 10/29/16 and saw 12 payments of $57.50 ~ in US dollars. We are in Canada. I called and told them we wanted to cancel. They said it was past the cancellation date. He called his credit card company to say we did not want this service and to see if they could block payment. Was told had to wait until next bill to see if it was charged again. It was, call credit card company again and they did an investigation of the situation. called again in December 2016 and again told them we wanted to cancel. Was told we'd have to pay $400. The 6 magazines we are suppose to be getting are not what we are getting. They are sending magazines we would Never Ever subscribe to. I talked to customer service today and told her were were getting magazines other than what she told me we were getting. I was told, "it must be from someone else". We are being billed out of Hudson, FL by Magazine Publishers Service which is actually National Readers Headquarters of North America in Great Falls, MT. We are suppose to be sending our monty to Montreal, Quebec, Canada

National Readers of North America Poor customer service

On April 7, 2016 I reached out to this company on behalf of my mom, as her guardian. My first call resulted in talking with Tyrell. Tyrell refused to talk to me regarding my mom's situation, nor would he let me talk to a supervisor. After 4 calls and Tyrell answering the phone, he refused to help me or let me talk to a supervisor and then he hung up on me. On my 5th call I got Ashley, who is Tyrell's supervisor. She was rude and refused to help me without my mother's consent. She also refused to let me talk to a supervisor. She then hung up on me.
I called my mother and asked her to call the company and give them HER consent to talk to me regarding her account. My mom did this and then called me crying saying that Ashley 'was rude and griped at her because I was rude to them'. My mom is disabled, which is why I am trying to take care of her business. It really upset me when I heard this.
On my 8th call to this company, I finally got a lady named Cathy on the phone. As it turns out, Cathy is Ashley's supervisor. I expressed my disgust with how I had been treated by both Ashley and Tyrell. Cathy gave me the opportunity to explain everything, as well as how Tyrell and Ashley had treated me (and how Ashley had treated my mom).
The biggest problem I have with this situation is how rude and unprofessional these people were. There was no need to put me through such stress. Cathy was able to handle the situation professionally, and we resolved the problem. Unfortunately, it took almost 2 hours of calling in and being hung up by Ashley and Tyrell before I could reach Cathy, which happened by chance.
Both Tyrell and Ashley should receive disciplinary action for their extreme poor customer service and unprofessional behavior. I cannot see how any owner, CEO, or leadership team would allow employees to act as such, which leads me to believe they are unaware these people are acting so unprofessionally. Not only has this company been harassing my mom by bombarding her with an over the top amount of phone calls each week, but the experience I had today has to be THE WORST I have ever experienced when trying to remotely conduct business.

I asked them to cancel my account because I couldn't afford it anymore and they wouldn't. I sent in a publishers clearing house letter back one time but didn't follow through with the rest. I didn't know that National Readers of North America was with them. So I found myself signed up for 2 years which I still tried to cancel but they wouldn't. My sister called and called to have them cancel my account they wouldn't now they have me signed up for 5 years that I didn't ask for I send the magazines back but they won't stop. I know they Gove fat checks to the price is right show to for contestants to win. I wish they would be closed down for good so they can't scam anyone else again I even told this to the BBB.

National Readers of North America Magazines

They called me on Dec. 23 telling me that the company wanted to do a renewal of magazines I ordered 2 years ago. I told them I didn't order any. They said I had to say yes to several questions then no to the last one, that I did not want to renew. One question I had to answer yes to was to pay 49.90 at that time. I told them I didn't want to but they said that was the only way I could get the renewal stopped. I was in tears telling them I could not afford the payments as I just had open heart surgery on Dec. 3, 2015. They took out the 49.90. A person named Elizabeth gave me a contact number [protected] along with a reference number 918796 that I could contact her about this any time. Tried the number 12-27-15 at 2:10pm got a busy signal. This is all the information I can give. I will inform my bank not to pay any money to this company if they request any. This has me vey upset. Thank you and keep me updated. This is all the information that I have. Please help me

National Readers of North America Company is a complete scam and fraud!!!

This magazine company is scamming people into 30 month bills when the victims never intended for that to happen. I will file suit against them if I have to. Then they flat out lie when they tell you the last question ( recorded ) they ask you will discontinue any further billing. I went through this verbal contract 3 times and I stopped every time they asked this one question about being billed for the magazine. Each time I told them I had no intentions and never did of paying a 30 month bill, they would tell me the last question would cancel any further billing. This happened about October 12 th or 13th 2015. Today 10/16/15 I get a confirmation of a 30 month long bill that I supposedly agreed to but I did not agree to it. On this same confirmation it states I will be getting these magazines that I did not order, Better Homes and Gardens, Vogue, Womans day, Allure, and Shape! What single straight man would ever order these magazines? This is a complete sham and scam. I will cancel my card and get a new one. The FBI should be notified.

Yes. Me too! I said no that’s too much and they kept going on and on then I hung up on them. Now I’m getting calls saying they are going to take legal action against me. Best part is I never got the magazines. This has been going on for a few years. Every time I ask to hear the reordering there’s some sorta issue and they can get the recording. This time the lady said it’s beyond the point of hearing the recording and kept telling me I agreed. I said no way would I agree to pay that much. They also said they were with publishers clearinghouse. All lies. Be careful and say no!

National Readers of North America Being charged for magazines not ordered

These people won't take no for an answer! I cancelled my debit card to get a new card number so they wouldn't have access to my finances, but I started receiving magazines that I DID NOT order! They insist that I gave permission, but I did not. I'm a widow, and I have a special needs son, so I don't order magazines and the like because of my financial situation. I refused to give credit card information this morning, and the women rattled off a phone number and hung up. I spoke to someone named Veronica and she gave me the number 2371. This phone number as well; [protected]. I have no clue what city this company is in. My name is Phyllis Young. E-mail address is [protected]@yahoo.com, and my phone numbers are [protected] and [protected]. I do hope and pray that you can help me get out of this mess!

National Readers of North America Unwanted Magazines

My wife clicked on a website about a year ago and has been receiving magazines ever since that somehow was connected to her looking at a shopping network site. We have been contacted several times and each time when trying to cancel magazines or find out who they are most often told will transfer call and then they hang up. Usual calls from them are an attempt to renew?

Same thing happened to me a couple years ago and I still haven't been able to get them to stop. They sent me magazines and billed me even though I never remember ordering magazines. To this day I still get magazines even though I begged and begged them to stop sending them. They told me I had to pay them more to stop. I changed my card after that and havent answered my phone from any of the known numbers they have on scam list.

I received a call from them this morning and the sales lady didn't even ask if I wanted to renew - I had told them before I did not want to renew - but asked if I wanted to be removed from the Automatic Renewal and added to their Do Not Call list. She asked me some "security" questions: 1. verify my address; 2. my age; and 3. what I do for a living. She then sent me to the "Floor Supervisor" who could take me off the Auto Renewal. This guy "verified" the security answers and then asked if I owned my home. I answered yes. He proceeded to tell me that he would need my credit card number in order to verify which one I had used to make the initial purchase. I read him the last 4 digits of the card I thought I'd used. He said, "No, it should begin with a 4 since it's a Visa." I told him that I was only going to give him the last four digits for verification. He continued to ask for the whole credit card number and he even stated that he had the whole number and just needed to verify my card. I asked him to then read the card number he had and I would let him know if it was the one I had. He said he would lose his job if he did that. We went round and round and I kept telling him that I was not going to give him my credit card number. He said that I could not be removed from the Auto Renewal if I didn't give him the number. I also told him that if I gave him my number and had any fraudulent charges, I'd know who to go after. He didn't like that. He went on about how I was in a "contract" and that I was bound by this "contract, " blah, blah, blah... I kept saying, "No, I'm not. I canceled my subscription just after ordering and am not under any contract." He finally hung up on me. Should I have any charges from them, I will dispute them immediately and report the company to our State's Attorney's office as a scam.

@ xmarine they just called me and said the same thing! I did fall for it once and got screwed. That was several years ago and will never fall for it again, they will never get a CC # from me. He said that if I didnt give them the number it would automatically renew because they have a way of knowing my new card and charging it. This is the information he gave me "Chris Smith from Discount Magazine he called me from [protected] employee# 5864 the numbers he gave me to contact them back are [protected] and [protected] which have all been reported online as scammers.

National Readers of North America Magazines charged no subscription

I received a few magazines on a free trial and then I get a call trying to get me to agree on a subscription for 50 months at 59.90 a month and they put it on my checking account while I was on the phone with them trying to cancel. When you contact the office they have people who talk very fast and try to get you to agree to things that you have no intention of agreeing to. I am hoping someone will stop them.

National Readers of North America cancellation of magazines I never subscribed to

I have read other complaints about this sham and have had all the same experiences: i was signed up for 5 different magazines for 5 years (something I've never done in my life!), called to cancel, was offered an alternative price and # of magazines and when I mentioned and looked up the Better Business Bureau, they are not recognized by them, but the rep. got all snarky with me, stating that there are lots of companies not affiliated with the BBB and proceeded to tell me that they (North American Readers) would not only cancel my subscription, but would reimburse me. One month later, here I am, with all the magazines being mailed again. HELP!

First I tried to call their toll-free number. Three times I dialed, and three times the call ended in a fast-busy signal.

So then I called my credit card issuer and filed a dispute with them. I laid before them the full particulars.

National Readers of North America they won't cancel my subscription

I was called on 6/25/13 and asked if I wanted to start a magazine subscription for 5 magazines for $59.50 a month for 3 months then I would get the magazines for 3 years. Yesterday I decided against it and this morning I called to cancel. They told me that my two weeks were passed due to cancel. I explained to them that I just can't afford them and that I am living on a fixed income.
I get $900.00 dollars a month SocialSecurity. They said the two weeks were up and there was nothing they could do. The two weeks were up yesterday. I begged them to forgive this since it is only one day. After going through not only the representative but also a supervisor they said that they could ofer me an early buy out of $500.00. I am on a fixed income how am I supposed to come up with that kind of money? It is only one day. Can someone please help me? I am at my wits end.

On 08-20-13 I got a call from National Readers of America wanted to sell me 5 magazines and I would also get a $150.WalMart gift card for getting the magazines. The way it was explained to me did not sound like the amount they told me. When I found out that they took $57.50 out of my checking account, I immediately called to cancel. It took me about 8 calls. before they would answer .The lady I finally talked to assured me they were canceling my subscription. I had brain surgery last year and a stroke .I am not making good decisions when it comes to sales people .I don't know how I'm going to fix this mess.

National Readers of North America Scam

This company (National Readers Publications) has some how gotten ahold of my debit card number and started automatically withdrawing funds from my bank account. They began sending magazines I never signed up for sparadically after they started withdawing money. I believe another company sold them my card number because I had multiple companies withdrawing money from my account and it all started from signing up for a trial tooth whitening product.

I belive I have ran into this scam before on my cell they say that they are located in Utah located 23oo South Street draper Utah. Wonder If they said that was the address because I don't trust anyone on the phone there just telemarketing scammers. Sorry to hear about that. You should complain to your Bank If your concered about your teeth I would just go to the Dentist or buy those Crest whitening strips those are two options that work. If your going to buy things online from now buy a Visa Gift card those are the easiest that way when the moneys gone Its gone no scammers can take whats not on the card. These scammers also told me I am in running for the Dream come true sweeps for 25, 000 dollars. They also said that my info would be encrypted If I just give them my credit card and I didn't do It, the magazines where crappy as well they where selling to me even IF the magazines had been good I would they said 4.99 a week for a year so its a Big Scam they called there self top publications or nrp.

National Readers of North America SCAM

They call you and say they are your magazine provider and next thing you know you are in a NEW contract with a New magazine company who is not the magazine company you are not already subscribing with. All you think you have done is changed a few few magazines and confirmed that you still have x amount of payments left and since you have been such a good customer it will now only cost you x. They never tell you that they were NOT your current provider. The next thing you know, BAM you start getting debits from your bank account from their company, more magazines than anyone ever needs and when you call them they say oh well we have you on record saying you want this magazine and that magazine and you know you have x amount of payments at x$. Then a year or so later they call you again! same MO with the beginning of the conversation--We are your magazine company... We need to verify your information and make sure everything is okay with your magazine service. It isn't! I am transferring you to a supervisor since you state there are problems with your account. ( They started sending me magazines I changed 6 months ago-- just recently--I should have known something was up!) I am so sorry ...Let me see what we can do. I will lower your payment by $10.00 a month and this will leave you with only 36 months on payments. I will send you out a complete list of magazines to choose from, the list is too long to go over on the phone, you can change them then. Blah Blah. I say Okay that is fine. The next day I check my bank account on line and guess what! They have taken X$ out of my account. NEW subscription is what I am told when I call. Two days before they took their 1st crooked debit out from the first scam I got hooked into! Yesterday they took more and guess what today they took more! Same name just changed a little, same reference phone number, just changed by 2 numbers, same $ amount. Oh but they don't know anything about this! Right! They have taken nearly $150.00 in 3 days. I called the bank and put a stop on their name(s) and #s but I am going to have to check each day for any new ones to pop up. They just change them a little and move one.

I have a charge from HMD your magazine today. I have not talked to a person from a magazine in forever in a day. I have been paying Active Periodicals, which will be all paid off by October, I have confirmed that with them. I just don't know where this extra charge came from or ever heard of this company till today. What do I do?

Here are some more names of magazine services that have scammed me: Central Subscriptions Services, Certified Readers, Readers Club of America, Magazine Service II, and HMD Your Magazines. They scam you into believing it isn't a new subscription and they also renew your services after the two years of paying on the magazines.
I've tried to call and cancell but they won't allow it because it was after the 3 days that they allowed for cancelling.
I finally blocked some of these services and changed the numbers on my cards. This is a total nightmare and don't know how these people sleep at night knowing they are telling lies to the public.

My [censored] had been had by 3 damn companies. All with similar names that I didn't realize were actually different till later on when I saw 3 separate charges of 69.95 in one of my monthly magazine statements. In my case.. they didn't even play back the recording for me. But yes, they BS like no other and tell you that you cannot cancel because you agreed to pay in full and say you have to pay now or they will take it to the collector's agency.
After plenty of strenuous research.. I gathered information on how to fight back. Unfortunately, it'd been already too late to get back over $400 that's been dished out to the companies.. possibly even more, but I can't remember. Anyways... when you call the company, ask to speak to their supervisor. When you talk to the supervisor, ask to speak to THEIR supervisor (and if possible, the highest superior you can reach.) If you have the means to record the conversation, DO SO. Take note of the DATE and Time of the call / Their First and last name / Their job title / and aske for the COMPANY's full name/ADDRESS/ numbers of any Licenses they say they have / and the TYPE of company (Corporation / LLC / Organization in state) and let them know that the conversation is being recorded. They, too, have the right to know. Tell them that you want to cancel your contract and that you will report them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). If possible, demand a refund. I live in California, and learned that California's statue of frauds make the "contract" illegal because I never signed anything. Write "SUBSCRIPTION CANCELED / Return To Sender" on any incoming magazines from the company, so you won't be sucked in again. DO Follow up with a certified letter unequivocally cancelling the service, THEN file complaints with the BBB and the FTC (Federal Trade Commission).

Terms to look up : Statute of Frauds / Violation of Business & Professions Code Section 17200 / Better Business Bureau / Attorney Generals Office / Federal Trade Commission

Please do your own research as well. I hope I was able to help even just a bit. Best of luck to all of you with the same issues. Oh.. and also get advice from a lawyer if possible. I'm sure you can find some through a search engine.

I got taken by this one also, they also go by US Readers Service too. They get you on the phone and talk so fast, tell you that you have won free magazine subscriptions and that you are in the running for the "BiG" prize. Yeah right! I point blank asked if I could cancel if something happens and couldn't afford it anymore and the lady said sure but at this fantastic price who would want to. Then because I live in Alaska I don't get my paperwork until over 2 weeks. Of course there is no mention of a 10 day cancellation period. So when I read the very very fine print and see that the bill will be about 1200.00 dollars I call to cancel. I called and called, I just kept getting the real busy signal. Finally I got thru by a miracle. The lady was extremely rude and played back the conversation that they had taped with me saying that I accepted. I said ok but keep playing the tape where I asked about if something happened and I would have to cancel could I and the lady said yes. The lady on the phone said oh we don't keep the entire conversation it would take to much to keep that much we only keep the acceptance part of the call. I said that's a bunch of bull ###! I wrote a letter to them explaining what had happen. Had my credit card that I gave them put a stop on the charges so they couldn't autocharge on my cc anymore. They sent me a nasty letter saying they would send me to collections if I didn't pay this. So now If I am so much as a day late on my payment they start calling day and night until they get their fricking $39.90 monthly payment. A few days ago I got the call where they tried telling me the same thing that they we asking me about my service if I was pleased and that I had won more choices ect... she says well I see you like Redbook lets go ahead and reupp that one and dodaodjodo you get the picture then she has the balls to say Well that will only up your payment $10.00 a monthy. I blew up then I said what happend to the free ones I just one I told her loudly enough for her to have no doubts that I did not want any more magazines and I will not pay anymore. I told her to put on my account for them not to call me anymore regarding "FREE STUFF" as you can tell I am still pissed off.

So I hope this helps someone else so they don't get rooked.

I call the number given by Linda simpson (501 855 [protected]). just in case I needed it., After holding on the phone for 1 hr and 45 minutes no one ever answered the phone., I ALSO LEFT MY NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER, BUT NO CALL BACK. I finally checked the internet and
saw a lot of complaints against this company. I called [protected]) and Ed Kobs answered the phone. He was polite and promised to
remove anything with my telephone number on it. I am going to check tomorrow (8/4/16) and confirm this has been removed. he also gave me a
