American Sales Network, LLC Scam

American Sales Network is obviously a scam. When I called about a specific job posting on Monster, my call was answered by an ASN rep. The rep never mentioned the job that I called about, but told me he could see a number of openings in the area paying $40-$60, 000/yr. This struck me as strange. Next came the offer to get me started with a profile that would cost $27. BAAHAAHAA! I think this company is shameless. If we were in a different time I would be with the crowd to burn this place to the ground.

American Sales Network, LLC Ridiculous FEES

If you see ASN on ANY job posting site - RUN RUN RUN! I called after seeing their number on Career Builder. First, they make it look like ASN is actually the COMPANY whom is HIRING people, they don't even spell out the name they simply put in ASN, not American Sales Network. Second, I called and was greeted by the most fast talking rep I have ever heard, I could barely keep up. He gets me excited about what they will do for me, but the next minute says it's a fee of $27 bucks. THEN - and ONLY because I grilled the man, did he disclose that an auto fee of an addn'l $20 buck would be taken from your debit acct ea month unless YOU call and cancell.

So THEN after I agreed for some reason, he THEN tells me the total is actually $34 bucks due to "MY Area" happens to incur an extra shipping cost. I then found out that was a flat out LIE because he tells me a Sales BOOK would be sent in the packet, so that shipping chg HAD to be every STATE since it incls a freakin BOOK!

Oh, and this book is part of a Sales PROMO that will cost me a DISCOUNTED amt of $65 bucks! And again - I would have to cancel in order not to be charged. I told him NOT to send the book and he agreed but said there is still the shipping fee. So, right, an almost SEVEN DOLLAR SHIPPING FEE for an envelope of FORMS? I highly doubt it! I then hung up and Googled " Amer Sales Netwrk COMPLAINTS" and pulled up TONS of scam alerts and complaints. I called ASN back immed and cancelled the whole thing. I was surprised they didn't KEEP some or all of my $$ - but the one good thing I can say about ASN, they let me cancel and refunded the whole amt. If you are still thinking of calling them - read some of the online complaints. ASN doesn't work!

These people don't even deserve the service that ASN offers them. There is nothing misleading about the marketing. If they had read the job postings on Careerbuilder carefully they would know not only that ASN is an online employment service and not the employer, but that it has various levels of service: free, basic, and premium. These last two levels of service cost money and the fees are listed. Moreover, the posting is very clear that it is not for a particular job. Each posting is general, describing positions from entry-level to management with a quite wide-ranging salary.
Now to fault ASN for not being a recruiter is ridiculous. It does not pretend to be a recruiter. That it is why it charges the jobseeker and not the employer. The fees cover the cost of paying its employees, maintaining its job database, and sending out the qualifications package. ASN does not guarantee interviews either or promise that you will get them in one week. What they do guarantee is that they have lots of positions that you can apply for. ASN is not the only employment service that charges jobseekers: try also National Sales Group, The Ladders, Blue Chip Careers, Doostang, and Monster.com.
While you may be able to fault them for the quality of their sales reps and the service they provide, the quality of jobseekers is often really poor. Some of these people are just plain unemployable!

I actually worked at their Santa Monica office-- for one day, realizing it was a complete and utter scam. Michael, the owner, has a pitch sheet you read off. At first, it sounds legitimate; for only 27 dollars, you get priority job listings. Then it turns progressively worse. There's a 20 dollar monthly charge that's breezed over (not one client knew he/she would be charged on a continuous basis). Then the coup de grace: an extra 60 dollar charge for a book that's supposed to increase your job chances. It's all pitched in an assumptive tone; there's no bottom lining whatsoever. It's amazing that every single 'client' doesn't ask for a full refund when they see their credit card bill. It's a scam, plain and simple.

This is all true! ASN advertises on Careerbuilder RIGHT NOW for "healthcare/medical sales" and boasts about high paying jobs. Interesting though, that unlike REPUTABLE recruiting firms they don't even ASK FOR YOUR RESUME. There is just a phone #. When you call, they give a schpeel about how you'll make $80-$120, 000 first year in your new job and you'll get an interview within 1 week. WHO CAN GUARANTEE an interview within 1 week, especially in this job market?! Especially when they havent' even seen my resume and know nothing about my qualifications?!

Then they tell you they need "$27.00 from you in order to present you to clients." I have NEVER heard of this and have been in medical sales 10 years. THIS IS A SCAM! I asked "If you are a successful job placement firm, why do you need a measley $27.00 from each caller?" I'll tell you why--they aren't going to even try to find you a job!
The first guy told me "Their hiring companies don't pay them." WHAT?! So, ASN stays in business by collecting $27.00 for each person looking for a job? BULL. The SECOND guy I talked to said "Some of our hiring companies pay us, some don't." This is different from what the first guy told me. They are scam artists.

I asked "How do you stay in business if your client medical companies don't even pay you?" They didn't have a straight answer, just jibber-jabber. Someone below also said which I didn't even know, they KEEP DEBITING A CREDIT CARD EVERY MONTH FOR THIS "Service" until you make them stop charging you!" Trust me, REPUTABLE recruiters do not charge candidates a penny. THEIR CLIENTS PAY THEM TO FIND YOU. We, the candidates, shouldn't have to pay a thing and again, what good is $27.00 going to do to keep any reputable business running?! Good luck everybody and God bless!

Don't sign up for the ASN recruiting. It is a scam. I signed up for it and after the billed my credit card for more than what was agreed upon, they wasted my time and money for 3 months. I was promised to receive calls from them on a regular basis to help further along my resume. I could rarely get people on the phone without being on hold for an hour. As I was on hold one of the many times, I found this report on the BBB. Please read before signing up! They are rated with an F! Enough said.

I was reading this article as I spoke with the ASN sales "rep". Will said there was a $27. fee to sign up and I should be placed within 3-4 weeks. As I read the article, I noticed there is a monthly dee to stay on their list of candidates. He said, " yeaaah, uhh, there is an "OPTION" to stay registered monthly. Gee thanks for making me ask that. I asked if there are any other fees, he added that there are shipping charges too. How much I asked, he said, "4, 5, or 6 dollars, gee which one is it? Started to realize this is a big how much can I upsell these desperate unemployed folks for, raquet.
I let him know, I would be doing more research on ASN and decide later...

I saw the posting on CareerBuilder.com but became leary based on the wording. The job description was too generic and sounded liked it guaranteed you the job. However after debating with myself I gave them a call. Lo and behold they ran their spiel and asked for $27.00. Immediately turned off I told them it was against my policy to ever offer any money to gain employment, and hung up.

THANK YOU for the heads up! I bought into their pitch this morning after calling the number on a Career Builder job posting. After reviewing all the fees I scribbled down while I was on the phone with the agent, I had buyer's remorse. I thought it to be prudent to research them on the internet & have read enough negative feedback to convince me to back out.

On a positive note, I called American Sales Network's customer service agent promptly offered to refund my credit card--no questions asked.

I just called and cancelled the subscription. I found them on Careerbuilder and after I pay which I honestly could not completely understood how much I was going to end up paying for their services, I decided to research the company and found this and other complaints so I cancelled. But on the good note the consultant I spoke with to cancelled was very polite even when I told him about what I found on the internet. Just in case you need the number to reach them is [protected] Don't know if I did the right thing or not. Its very difficult to find opportunities in the job market so I'm not sure if I did the right thing by cancelling. Any thoughts?
