American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter I had a service call set up between 9am-1pm

I had a service call set up between 9am-1pm. I called in the morning to verify my appointment they said yes we have you set up they would call me before they come. I had a missed call from a number I did not recognize so they did not leave a message so I did not call it since I get so many spam calls. If they would have left a message I would have called back. they put it down as a cannot contact customer so they canceled my appointment. I called later that afternoon and they said it was cancelled because they could not reach me and left a message. But it is not true they never left a message. I had to reschedule for another date. That is very inconvenient I am not happy with them. They had like 3 different numbers they could of left a message.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Our air conditioner suddenly went out - a brand new system installed 5 years ago by ARS

Our air conditioner suddenly went out - a brand new system installed 5 years ago by ARS.. Still well under parts warranty and has been inspected each year by ARS tecnicians. The ARS technician that came today to quote/repair was clearly drunk, was spitting tobacco, and barely keeping his mask on. Told us that repairs would probably not last so we need to replace our entire Lennox system. Immediately after ARS salesman came to give us a quote for a new system- who was very surprised because our system is still young and has been maintained every year. ARS technicians can't be trusted to inspect and maintain their work. We can't believe we spent over $9k for the system and even hundreds more for yearly maintenance just for it to break down so quickly.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Called this Company out to do a maintenance drain cleaning and root scraping, same thing we have done every spring for 12 years

Called this Company out to do a maintenance drain cleaning and root scraping, same thing we have done every spring for 12 years. We tried this company who sent out an inexperienced technician out, Kuran, who then proceeded to punch a hole in our outside drain access the size of a mans fist. It was not there as we were the ones who opened the drain first. Called the company immediately who turned it over to their Senior Service plumber, [Senior Service plumber's name], who told us they would only fix it if we used their services to fix the entire length of the line, but give us $1200 off the $7700 they quoted to fix the whole line. Since we didnt want the whole line replaced they are refusing to fix it. A Pre-existing Condition contract was signed, naively, thinking Pre meant conditions that were there before (Pre) they got there. Customer service representative [Customer service representative's name] said well thats actually used for problems we might cause after the inspection. Very long story short, they are not here for the customer, they show up, have you sign a waiver, break things, then hide behind the waiver.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Absolute disappointment

Absolute disappointment. After having ARS quote us for a service, a technician came out and told us we had to contact our HOA in order to have the water shut off, so we had to reschedule. The second time we had an appointment scheduled from [specific date]. At 12:45 we call to reschedule for a later time frame since I had an appointment and they were late/never showed. So the new time frame was from 3-5. At 3:30 the technician (d-bag [technician's name]) came out and I asked him to wait for 10 minutes so I could get my daughter from school. His reply in a snarky voice "is it really going to be 10 minutes or 40? because I want to get in and get the job done, I have other things I need to do." I end up telling him that they were already late and that he can wait 10 minutes. When the technician gets in I show him the way to the tank and my kids followed him (he must have not known they followed because my kids heard d-bag [technician's name] say "god I hate that woman.") That was it for me. I called and complained about the lack of customer service/incompetence and that I wanted a new technician. A new technician comes out and STILL could not replace our tank. I decided to call [alternative service provider] and they sent DRF the next day, saved us $800, and had the job completed in an hour without having to shut the water off in our complex. After all of the hassle, we were still charged from ARS and had to get that resolved. I also posted this review on [review platform] and it never showed up.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter My AC went out in July

My AC went out in July. I have a service plan with ARS and scheduled service with an 8am to noon window. The guy shows up over an hour and a half late, and is there for 5 minutes. Tells me he can't do anything because the coil is iced up and the system needs to be off for at least a day to thaw. That could have been easily solved over the phone with a little troubleshooting, but they didn't even try. Got to get those service call fees, after all. That was only the first issue. Once the system thawed, they came out again (on time this time, which was nice) and told me I needed a new blower motor. So I got one, which cost me about $1300, and then the tech told me that would not actually solve the problem. Due to a clogged evaporator coil, the system would inevitably seize up again. He recommended I replace the entire AC unit and immediately sent an "installer" who was actually a salesman to talk me into it. Fortunately I asked the salesman how old my current unit was (something the tech hadn't bothered to check). It was six years old. Average lifespan for a residential AC unit is 15-20 years. But the tech decided that a $2000 coil replacement wasn't worth it for such an "old" unit and instead I should drop 8-10k on a whole new unit. And if I hadn't asked how old it was, they clearly weren't planning to tell me. What a blatant scam. Now I'm waiting on them to come out yet again and replace the coil, which was all I needed in the first place. It'll be interesting to see what they try to charge for it.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter First, I'd like to say when it sounds too good to be true, it normally is

First, I'd like to say when it sounds too good to be true, it normally is. My technician was extremely courteous from beginning to end. I was approached by a sales associate when I was shopping in their store about a daily special they were having of a $9.00 A/C tune-up provided by ARS / Rescue Rooter. I asked $9.00 for them to come out, clean out my AC line, check the refrigerant, etc. Yes, ma'am! Sure. Why not. I have a maintenance service with another local (Amazing) company! Wanted to save money and see what ARS / Rescue Rooter had to say. Boy, was I in for a surprise! First, my AC is not giving off any cool air. Then it was low on refrigerant, down 2.5 pounds. I must have a slow leak somewhere. My motor is running at 0 when he connected it to the meter. Yet, it's still running? I just kept listening and taking note, asking questions. We continue upstairs to where my handler is. He takes note I have a cat. When he opens my air handler he sees it has normal aging of the coils. Immediately tells me my unit is no good. My UV light is not working because of this. I said, No, the UV light has been disconnected due to me having been scammed by a previous repair person. He points at the dust build-up and notices how I use one cup of vinegar in my AC drain once every 14 days now with my allergies and asthma. He began to tell me my house is terribly infected because of this. No good. It's just no good, ma'am! I have had my AC leak twice before. ARS / Rescue Rooter had 4 different AC companies work on it. Two, now 3 in the past year alone. Funny, none of the other companies told me I needed a complete new system. That I'm leaking refrigerant. My motor doesn't work. Ummm, if the motor doesn't work, wouldn't my AC NOT be turning on? I asked, he said it was the slow roorooorooo noise I hear. Sucker is not written on my face or forehead. ARS / Rescue Rooter has been taught well. Before my father passed away he did this type of work. I used to help him. I remember the basics. I also know I never received that $9.00 tune-up either. Shame on you ARS / Rescue Rooter! I'm a female. I really do see a difference in how we are treated. Let's not assume because we may not act like we know what's going on that we don't. Discrimination of any kind is not appropriate. I wonder what you're doing to people who really don't know right and wrong. I live in a two-story home. My AC rarely goes below 76. We like it cold. Even in the summer. Does that sound like I need a new unit?

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter The words of concern that this company provides when calling in is not genuine

The words of concern that this company provides when calling in is not genuine. I have had nothing but issues with this company. Phone calls get me no where. Called on Saturday afternoon for service on my AC. Their pre-recorded message says they provide Emergency 24/7 service by quickly responding and providing excellent service. It is now Monday evening and I still have not had service. I was told on Saturday that they would call 30-40 minutes before they arrived. When I hadn't heard anything by 9:30 p.m. I called and requested that the technician come on Sunday. I was given three time frames to choose from. I chose 8-12. At 12:15 on Sunday I called asking when I could expect the technician since they hadn't arrived yet. I was informed that I had talked to a phone service and they didn't have the ability to schedule times for service. I then asked when I could expect someone. I was put on hold as the person said she was going to try to contact the on-call technician. When she got back to me she told me that an HVAC supervisor would be calling me soon. I waited 3 more hours. No phone call. I called back again only to be told that she didn't know why I was told a supervisor would call me since no managers where in the office. I again asked when I could expect a technician and was told that she didn't see a work order for me. I asked why I wasn't told that when I had called 3 and 5 hours prior. I was put on hold so she could try to contact the on-call technician. When she returned I was told that the technician was on a call and had a couple before me, but he would call when he was finished with the call he was on. Again NO call. The company did call the next morning. Unfortunately, I didn't hear the phone. I returned their call within a half hour of their call. I was told I was I was listed as "on stand by". At 3:53 p.m. I call the Customer Relations at the Corporate office to report my experience. She apologized and said she would contact the local office and find out what was happening and to get an appointment set for me. It is now 6:55 p.m. and AGAIN NOTHING. I swore I would never use this company again since this is the type of experiences I have had repeatedly with this company, but I have had two other companies out and their want to or could fix it. Since ARS put in the unit 7 years ago and have been out to service the AC each year, I gave them one more chance. I get nothing but the run around.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Damaged product

I had a water heater installed 8/15/2023 & it is damaged. I was neither informed prior to the install or after of the imperfection of the unit & it is noticeable visible. I called immediately upon getting the picture from my son to report it. I spoke with customer rep #066938 as it was also necessary to get a copy of the receipt emailed to me. I called again 8/17 to follow up & spoke customer rep #33883. I was advised that responses typically take 2-3 days. Today is 8/24 & I have yet to hear from anyone to even acknowledge or address my concerns. I paid $3,700 and received a dented product.

Desired outcome: I am seeking a response to discuss an appropriate discount for the installation of an obviously substandard product. I did not pay a scratch & dent price.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Overpricing of main drain clean out service

On April 5, 2023 An ARS plumber and I agreed on a price of$490.00 to unblock/clean the main drain (approx 30 ft) on Norwich street, San Diego Ca. 92117. He found the stoppage was about 5 feet past the city installed "Tee pipe." He unblocked the pipe and water flowed but he could not get the snake to go further in the drain. At this point he stopped work and called a co worker with a camera. They detected a Tee in the main drain that blocked the snake and camera. Actual "hands on" work was less than a hour.

Subsequently, I saw aTV advert that ARS main drain clean price was $83.00.
That prompted me to check local pricing... San Diego zip 92117 average price to snake main drains is $190.00 up to 90 ft.
Considering work time to clear the drain and camera a generous price would be $200.00
ARS San Diego invoice # [protected] dtd 4/5/2023 refers

Desired outcome: I respectfully request a partial refund of $300.00

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Toilet repair

Service Call/Quote [protected] 1/13/2023

Jose Gomez came to my house on 1/13/2023 to check out 2 toilets that were potentially leaking. Jose has been to our house before for service and all was good. In fact, we have been using ARS for over 28 years, in 4 different residences and have always had a good experience. I do not believe that Jose was deceitful, I simply think he was incorrect in coding the charges.

Jose was here for maybe 45 minutes. He looked at the first toilet and said he thought it was leaking from seal. He looked at other toilet and said the flapper needed to be replaced. Both jobs were done in under half an hour. He sealed around Toilet #1 (using sealant that I provided because he did not have any) and replaced the flapper in Toilet #2.

He notes on the Invoice: Install Toilet. Jose did NOT install a toilet. This has to be an error in pricing.

After several nights losing sleep, I reached out to 2 other plumbers and a contractor and went over the job with them. They all told me that this job should be $300 - $350 TOPS.

I have called ARS twice. both times I have been assured someone would call me back but it has been over 10 days now with no reply.

Desired outcome: I expect to be reimbursed for anything over $350.00.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Drain cleaning

Please Read All the Negative reviews about this company and save yourself some frustration. They all have a common theme, no show, no call. shoddy work, and the same generic response from their customer service.

I called this company for a drain cleaning. They gave me a two hour window when they did not show up or call within the two hour window I called them back. They told me it would be an additional three hour delay. Three hours later No show / no call, I called them back again and they pretended they were unaware of my request and tried to reschedule for the next day after 3pm, When I brought to their attention their text and emails . They had a “manager” Anthony call and try to BS me by offering a discount, The discount he offered was higher than the price they had originally quoted in the first place. At that point I attempted to cancel with the assurance that I would not use ARS in the future.

So he agreed to send over a tech at no cost the following morning.

The next day, Elijah showed up with a broken snake. (See the pictures.) When Questioned him how he could possibly remove the blockage with nothing on the end of the snake, he assured me that they would honor their 90 day guarantee. However, a week later when the drain backed up, they had me sit home all day and called me at 3pm to refuse to honor their 90 day warranty.

When the actual plumber from a different company came to do the work and saw the pictures of the broken snake, he told me oftentimes companies will use no cutter on the end of the snake to guarantee a second more costly visit or to upsell you on other work, just his opinion. Don't take my word for it. Read the other reviews and be forewarned.

In my opinion both Anthony and Elijah were dishonest with me. I will not use this service ever again. You get what you pay for.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Air condition — new condenser

We purchased condenser with paying almost $9000 in July 2022. Then within one week, the condenser did not work, so they changed another condenser for us. Then in September around 19th, the AC did not work again. They sent the technician to check by saying it is the issue of compressor needs to be changed. We do not understand is this is a brand-new condenser we purchased in July, how come the parts will be bad so quickly. Anyway, we let them change the compressor on 21st. After one day, on 23rd the AC did not work again! By then the room temperature is 87+ degrees. Since so many issues of this new condenser within two months, we decided to return this product instead of keeping repairing the new condenser. ARS seems agreed to refund back our money and remove the condenser. There was a gentleman called me and told me that they would move the condenser on Friday morning which is 23rd of Sept. We were happy that they could move the product, so we can install new other brand condenser from other company on Friday. But surprised me is they do not move the condenser till now 26th Sept and our upstairs’ rooms have high temputure since 23rd. The reason they provided me is because the legal department is doing refund Paperworks? Here I don't understand is they should think during such weather, AC will be needed asap especially we have little baby. They can move the condenser first and then doing refund paperwork. So, our house can have AC immediately. Anyway, we are not happy for this arrangement, and we really hope ARS can pick up the condenser today. We cannot handle the heat anymore.

Thank you.

Desired outcome: not solve the problem!

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter AC/heat pump

ARS installed a new AC/Heat pump at my home on 08/27/2022. The very next day the AC system shut down showing a E73 error on the thermostat so I called ARS and they sent someone out and he discovered the drain pan in the attic full of water. He drained the pan and flushed out the drain line and the system worked again. On 09/05/2022 the AC went showing the same error. I called ARS again and checked the attic to find the drain pan again full of water. The old system never had this issue and I want them to install whatever is defective to correct this problem.

Desired outcome: install a new system of at least correct whatever is causing the drain pan to flood.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Tankless water heater

August 25 2022.

I called you because I have a leak on the tankless water heater Naiven 210 that was installed New on 01-14-2015 according to Invoice # 9131- R70252.

Technician Showes up at 09:30am on 08-25-2022 and he did the repair and charge me the total amount of $ 1,152.00 Invoice # [protected].

What I complaint about is on his comments about ""Completion Notes"" said he replace the condensate media, plus tank cleaning. Also replace part that's under warranty for customer.

He charges me $ 410,00 for the replacement part that was supposed to be under warranty as he said on his report.

So that means I was charged $1,152.00 only for labor? That was to much for a customer that has been with you since 2014.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter Did thousand of dollars in damage to our home

ARS Rescue Rooter of Orlando refused us insurance after we refused to sign a disclaimer stating we would not give them a bad review. That is after they did a horrible job, flooded our home and missed two appointments that were supposed to be with management. Horrible company with many bad reviews. We decided to build a website and tell our story. Will link to this resource. Consumers need to know to at minimum double check the work these clowns do.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter false collection claims

My brother was contacted by ARS and they left him a voicemail saying that they needed to speak with me so they could deliver papers and that I needed to go to a court appearance regarding a $7000 medical bill back in 2012. I was freaking out! When I called the number the lady was VERY rude direct like [protected] EXT 5437. She said that she needed a card on file to lock in my payment plans so that I don't get sued. I told her I wasn't giving her my card information and she responded very snappy almost like she failed at getting a payment from me and was disappointed. I told her I would contact my lawyer and she asked for my lawyers name and I told her no! She then said if I don't get her info by the end of day today that I would be served. It's funny that they didn't have the correct address or phone number on file, but I've always had the same number for 7 years now. Don't give them any information! She didn't ask for an updated address either. I just had my brother block their number and I did the same!

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter overcharge and said pipe broken when not

The technician showed up and told me it would be $200.00 to clean out the kitchen drain. I said the website said $88.00 and he made me show him. He acted upset with me and then proceeded to do the job. He called me out and said he could not unstop the drain that I had a broken pipe and showed me sand on the end of his snake. Did I want to call the guy with the camera to come out and show me the problem. I told him no and would get with my insurance company.
After he left I put a ticket in with AHS and had their technician come out. The first technician had stuffed a sponge and cloth down the drain. AHS pulled out the stoppage to show me. ARS/Roto Rooter technician was totally unethical. DO NOT USE THEM.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter unfair pricing

We called and scheduled to have a drain cleared in our bathroom sink. Advertisement said $88. To have one drain cleared. Serviceman arrived and immediately said he wanted to do a "free inspection" of house. Although I was only interested in getting drain unclogged - I agreed. He then tried to sell me on various hot water heated valves etc. I declined and asked him to service drain. He looked at drain and said it was going to be $376.! I was shocked - but needed to have work done and had already missed a day of work waiting for him to arrive so agreed. He completed the work in less than 30 minutes. I do not like ARS's deceptive advertising... and I do not like that service companies are trying to sell you extra service work through their bogus free inspection. VERY VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS COMPANY.

American Residential Services / ARS Rescue Rooter scam

ARS is a scam. Let me start by saying that asking for 50$ up front even if you dont work is a scam...you can give a 2 mil dollar bill and just go from house to house all day long collecting 50 bucks. (which is not far off from what happened to me) This is YOUR business YOU need to go out to peoples houses if you want to be in the plumbing business.. sometimes you can do business and sometimes you cant. How dare you make me pay for the ride over here. every plumber needs to go somewhere.

I needed to take my bathtub faucet off and put a new one on. I took the faceplate off and tried to loosen the faucet from behind the faceplate. It felt really tight so i called a plumber to come help me. They shined a flashlight behind the faceplate and said there are threads they can see. then without even trying to loosen it he said we can get your shower working again. he proceeded outside to his truck with his accomplice, did some talking with each other, wrote something down on an invoice then headed back inside to talk to me. he handed me an estimate for over $2, 000 dollars! I said look guys i just want you to unscrew my faucet. they told me its so old they did not want to risk breaking anything. I grudgingly gave them 50 bucks and told them to be on their way.

The next day I called a different plumber and when he got there he said and i quote "This faucet is made to be unscrewed without removing the faceplate". it was so simple he almost removed it without any tools. Now granted iam not a plumber i dont know anything about plumbing and it cost me 100 bucks to learn how to unscrew a faucet. But that is exactly why i called a plumber. These guys dident even know how the faucet worked and if they did know then they were purposely trying to scam me out of $2, 000 dollars. Either way its not a business i ever want in my home again. Iam writing this hopefully to keep someone else from getting "ARS'ed".
