American Laser Skincare fraud! scam! services do not work!

I wish I had researched ALC before I went there. If I had seen all of these complaints, along with other websites, including the BBB, I would have never went there!
I signed up for 8 VelaShape sessions for $2520.00. In the end, I was a half inch bigger than I was before I started. Of course, they don't guarantee anything, so you're just out the money, PERIOD. They don't even act like they care. It's all a scam, so once they get your money, it's all over with. It took me 2 months to get them to send me my records so that I could show my attorney. Of course, they didn't include everything. The Technicians made hand written notes with each visit. I had voiced my concerns each time, but I have no record of it. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

they said i had to get my own anesthetic/ numbing cream!
i felt like they didn't care so i decided not to go back to them after those initial treatments and now am trying to get my refund but don't know how to...called customer svc for a week+ and did not get any response...opened a dispute claim w/ my CC to get my $$ back

I agree with all these comments, too. I have been going to ALC in Virginia Beach for 1 1/2 years. After 10 hair laser removal on my legs, I am still dealing with hair. They state that it can take up to 12 sessions for some people, but they only say on the contract that it can take more than 6 treatments. I have been burned several times and no doctor has even looked at my burns.

I also requested my file with no results. I think we all should get together and sue them big time.

i agree with these complaints 100%. as a matter of fact, i was amazed at how accurate they are to my own experience. American Laser Centers has been blowing me off for three years. It is true that they are rude and do not care at all. AT ALL! In my opinion, i do not see how they have not had a major lawsuit against them. the treatments from their staff are most of the time are done without any precision or focus. I felt like i could do a better job. I thought they were a professional company, but now realize without a doubt that they do in fact scam people out of their money. It is companies like these that take advantage of people and give honest legitimate companies a bad name.

American Laser Skincare poor company!

American Laser Centers is such a scam! I work at the Head Quarters in Farmington Hills, Mi. We bug the hell out of people calling them every other day, making them think that the $300 coupon they just received is something special! HA! We are at every show/expo we have raffle boxes in every tanning salon, hair salon, gym etc. Don't fall for the WIN Free Laser Hair Removal It's all a scam! Our services are Thousands of dollars and with this economy who they hell would spend that kind of money. You could buy a new car or give your kids something useful like a college fund! On top of the complaints we get from current customers. Customer Service SUCKS! You will be on hold for an hour and they are no longer giving refunds! The head honcho is back, Rich Morgan the founder for ALC. He is all about money not satisfaction! He would rob a blind man if he could! DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT book a consultation with the call center. You are only setting yourself up for HELL!

Update by American Laser Centers.. SCAM!
Apr 03, 2009 11:18 am EDT

Correction. There is a way I would post something like that. I could give a flying rats butt if I make a bonus. and by the way it is only a dollar per invoice. Way less then 1% commission. They rob their own call center reps. We bring in more then half the money for that company, does management care NO! They are laying people off, not giving refunds, it's a damn sweat shop in that call center. Not to mention we are cold calling people and telling them they entered a contest. I did not sign up to be a telemarketer. I have a freedom of speech, and [censored], if I want to voice my opinion and warn people about the dangers of singing up for a package, I can. I still make $10 an hour if I don't book a consult. Thank you for your concern.

HELP! I went for my first visit for Velasmooth. OMG it hurt so bad I couldn't continue. She signed me up for a credit account. Do you know if there is any way to get out of this credit card. I am 50 yrs. old and getting married in 6 wks thought this would help for the Honeymoon. The back of my thighs have bruises and are really sore to just sit. HELP! They told me to come back Saturday to finish the front. Should I try to continue or will it damage my skin and make it worse for my Honeymoon June 10th 2012? vineis3@aol.com

American Laser Skincare vela shape treatment is false

American laser has an incredible bad reputation, when it comes to customer service and honesty. "vela' do not get this service, you will be extremly disappointed and with $2000 less.

On sept. 2008 I signed up for a "vela" treatment, they promise 9 sessions each for an hour, also the manager hillary made it seem like it was as good as a liposuction that I only needed 9 sessions and I would get ridd of my belly fat.

The staff in the office where giving me a half hour sessions, instead of the hour, then when I complaint they gave me 45 min. It was like I had to constantly remind them that the treatment was for one hour.

I paid $2000 and im still with my belly fat, I have being working-out and dieting, the results are extremly poor.

American Laser Skincare crystal medina & american laser centers

March 2008 - had consultation with Crystal Medina @ American Laser Center in Mesa, Arizona. I agreed to procedures and $6, 000.00 was ok'd by Care Credit, payments to be made to GE Money Bank in Orlando, Florida beginning April 2008. My husband was not happy with this and because I was having alot of problems with my back after the surgery and needed medical attention, I decided I could not go ahead with this. I called Care Credit and was told American Laser Centers should never have billed me until the procedures were performed. I called Ms. Medina several times and left my number and email address to no avail. I also went to their place of business and they always told me she was doing a consultation. This has gone on for months. I have been paying Care Credit becuase I didn't want my credit to be affected. I have not had one procedure done, but have paid Care Credit over $1, 000.00. Care Credit said they couldn't credit my account without authorization from American Laser. I have written letters to American Laser, Ms. Medina, called Corporate several times - spoke with Amy, Amber, Ovita and others. Ovita took my Care Credit account number and said she would file a complaint with Ms. Medina's regional manager and would get my refund processed - this was 09/08/08. I also spoke with Amber on 10/05/08 @ 11:18 am at American Laser Corporate, she stated refund was in process and it would take 4-12 weeks. I also spoke to Lisa at corporate on 12/06/08. I spoke to Jennifer and she told me to call customer service ar [protected] or email them at customer [protected]@americanlasercenters.com, which I did and found this site. I have been more than patient and tried everything I can think of to solve this. Not once has anyone called me or emailed me with the status of this situation. Something needs to be done. At this time I cannot afford an attorney. I am writing to Care Credit to see if I can get any results. My email address is carole.[protected]@yahoo.com and my phone number is [protected].

Thank you,

Carole L. Pease

I am reading all these reviews and am finding myself getting angrier and angrier. I too have had a very dissapointing experience with American Laser Center...Yes, I won a great package deal for $1500 and still had to pay an additional $400 out of pocket just to have one small area of hair removed using the laser treatment. A year and a half later...I am still having treatments and still have to shave! I am so frustrated with the whole process. Everytime I go, they tell me their software has improved, they change the frequencey that I need to come and tell me that now it will be even better! Well, it never is. On top of that, the floors are always gross and dirty as well as the glasses they make you wear. I too was told it was mandatory to purchase the post laser treatment lotion...which is nothing speical and does nothing for me! They are constantly trying to get me to sign up for more packages even though I have told them I am not interested and I am still waiting to see if this works. I think after 1 1/2 years, I should not have to use a razor. This is a major rip off and I agree that they should be closed down! Luckily, I have not had any burns and I did not put this on a credit plan. But I still feel ripped off! I am an educated person. I own a nationwide company myself. I am so dissapointed that I let myself pay this kind of money without checking them out further. I met them at a health fair when I entered the drawing and expected them to be above board. Boy was I wrong. I dread every appointment and can't wait till this is all done. I am beginning to think now, that the hair will never be removed and this has all been a huge waste of time and money!

I had the exact same issue. Difference is that I did not pay credit card bill as I felt that I did not receive treatment. I totally agree with everyone, this is not legal business practice, but still alive and keep rubbing more people like you and me. Is really nothing can be done?

I had the exact same issue. FOUR hours after purchasing my very large package I called and said I didn't want the procedure because I was uncomfortable with the terrible reviews I read online after signing the papers along with having blonde hair. My husband was less than thrilled to say the least. They told me once I signed I was locked into the contract. I called Care Credit and they said only American Laser could issue the refund. Needless to say I have not used Care Credit since that day. I went ahead a month later and started treatments after several regional managers became involved and denied any type of refund. I was more than dissatisfied. I was told upon signing my contract that due to my blonde hair they would need to double-pass each visit. After my first, they said their new policy no longer allowed double-passing but my guarantee period would be enough to eliminate the hair fully. After my 6th appointment a disgruntled nurse told me their systems don't work and I'll still need to shave regularly and then proceeded to pull up her pant leg and show me her leg hair - which looked normal after having a full series of treatments! Once my guarantee period kicked in they were suddenly "booked" and in a two year period could only fit me in a couple times due to "office merging". My guarantee is now expired and they followed up with a phone call letting me know their schedule has cleared up with hiring some new staff and I can come in for my appointments at a discounted hourly rate - WOW. Really? This is legal business practice? Amazing.

I had a problem with them as well. What you do is send a certified letter to care credit stating that the charges made on your card are being disputed and care credit will take care of everything.

I went to Mequon, WI location. Run away from this place as fast as you can!
I purchased 10 micro procedures. After 1st one I had to go to see dermatologist & pay for his services + meds. I called ALC & asked for a refund - guess what? they don't care! They refused to give me my money back. They told me that perhaps it was not done properly last time, it was cold outside & bluh, bluh...So, I tried treatment # 2 - same exact results, and I ended up at the Derma doctor again. I told ALC I will not be doing any treatments. After about 4-5 months of discussions, they offered to give me bikini hair removal for the remainder of my micro services & I was stupid enough to agree to it. There was no paperwork completed for this & I have not signed anything! After 2 bikini treatments, I got a letter that now I have to pay $50 per service, I called ALC, and what is really interesting - manager does not have a voce mail there ...Can you believe that? so, I tried & tried for several times - finally I got to talk to Ms. Amy, she said she needs to review my chart, and she was doing so for 2 weeks. I finally got sick of it & I called customer service, they logged a complain & she called me back.

When I asked to see my personal file, she told me that she needs to talk to her regional manager & see if its OK. I reassured her that its my right as a Patient to see my file...she does not know how long it takes to get this file to me - does she know anything? why is she being paid?

I will fight, I will not stop! I will get my file & I will go to court! if you would like to call me, here is the contact: [protected]

Also, I completed laser on my face, 2 years of treatments are over & I see no result...waste of money!

DO NOT get their services!

I was an unLUCKY winner and they hustled me into buying a 5 treatment each of microdermabrasion and IPL Foto Facial package for $1900. I don't want to go into the specifics right now but I did it to treat my Enlarged Pored on my cheeks. After 2 micro's and 2 IPL's I am starting to think that it is making my skin worse.

They also hustled me into buying their products, so they milked me for another $200+. I showed up and after the treatment was told I must purchase their "PLL (Post Laser Lotion)" and "Sunblock". I was told these two products were MANDATORY. I also bought at their recommendation the "replenishing mask" and some "Gentle cleanse face cleanser".

I was also burned on my nose and this mark looks like it may scar. I called them the day of and they said they would call the next day and I never heard from them. Its been 8 days and the scab is still their and the wound has not completely healed.

I just used the mud mask tonight and after about 10 mins I went to wash it off and it would not come off my face. I scrubbed and scrubbed (irritating my pores to the greatest extent possible) and finally got it off. It was a horrible experience and I can't believe how much of an idiot I am to have went through with this and spend all this money.

I could not find any conclusive evidence that these treatments would even work for my condition.

I am 1/2 way into the treatments. What should I do?

UPDATE: 3/27/08

If "cj" was referring to me I would like it to be known that I have been to THREE of their clinics which were all three located here in Southern California.

The clinic nurse who performed on me relayed a message claiming that I already had the weird blister on my nose (Note: it took 2 1/2 weeks to heal, only laser wounds or burns cause damage to skin tissue like that). I laughed in disgust and I told the lady speaking at the other end that I don't play games. I am known by my reputation to be as honest as they come.

Personally, I am trying to keep my name from the public because its my right to privacy. If I am pushed to that point I will reveal my name as well as all those involved and locations, dates and so on.

Well I decided to cancel the IPL Foto Facial and continue with the Micro. They said it was in my contract that I could not cancel. I pleaded how the laser burned my nose and how that was documented with my doctor and I have pictures. They remained firm and said they couldn't do anything other then offer me more micro's or something sufficient. I was also given a bag full of products and was told I would not be charged for any of them nor any of the procedures I have had done to date. If that's true my balance should be still around $2100. I should also have 19 Micro treatments remaining.

I received my third micro and they day after I notice a few deep lines on my face and a purple rash on my forehead. The other two times I had this procedure these symptoms never arose. Usually day after I felt a slight burn and the PLL would calm that. This time I felt lightheaded, dehydrated, had this purple rash on my head and almost cat scratch like lines all over my face. One next to my nose and the other above my left eyebrow.

I called and reported this with the clinic. They said just to use the PLL (post laser lotion) 3 times daily and the replenishing mask at night. I also noticed a
local place next to where I get my haircut who does Micro. I called and set up an appointment for today and will see what they have to say.

I will keep you posted accordingly.

p.s. I am not the only one, just one of few who has enough courage to stand up for what's right.

UPDATE: 1/09/09

This is BurnedByALC. I'm not going to respond to any comments left towards me. All I have to say is I pay my bills and take care of business. For anyone who questions the legitimacy of this I feel for you and wish you the best.

Now back to the matter at hand, ALC and how they burned me more ways than one. I was lead to believe that my refund was going through and I would receive it. I come to find out in July just 2 days before my birthday that it was denied. I did not get an explanation on why and the Clinic referred me or in other words "passed the buck" to Customer Service where I have tried on numerous occasions to contact the Supervisor.

After almost a month I finally spoke with the Supervisor in late August and she said she doesn't check her Voicemail's and that somebody else does for her. I explained the situation and she said would get back to me "later that day or early next week". After a a few weeks I tried to contact her again leaving voicemail's in September, October and decided to take some time off to enjoy the holidays.

Today (1/09/09) I spoke with a Customer Service rep and had them notate the account and left another Voicemail for the Supervisor.

I have notes regarding every visit, conversation as well as audio recordings and documentation from a outside source (Reputable Plastic Surgeon).

I have decided to move forward with a complaint with the California Medical Board and to follow with a Lawsuit. I strongly urge anyone else who is interested in doing the same to message me immediately so we can discuss this matter further. Please leave your name and best way to be contacted.

Thanks,

American Laser Skincare ex employee and I can tell you this company is a scam!!

Embarressed to admit, but currently an employee of American Laser Center and want everyone to know this company is fake! The treatments do not work, and only work temp. giving the elusion that it works. I am leaving this company due to unethical practices. The company is based on sales only and if techs do not make their goal they are fired. Thats why we push sales on clients! Please people beware of this company! Do your research and go to a doctor for treatments only! The regional manager Theresa Nelson is on a mission to make her bonus and goal and so are the clinical managers Joan Passow. They will do anything to make a sale and get their bonus! Including taking you for a ride! Also if you get a treatment and want a refund, the company will not give you one! And if you get burned, know one cares! The owner who just got out of jail said its not a big deal! Please dont go here!

American Laser Skincare bad results and custmer service

I have gone to the place in Denver and have never been so upset. On there web site they state that it is pain free, yes on the neck it is but the face wow it its like getting poked by a nail and then some one comes and burns the hole and then they forgot to give me the lotion. My first 6 appointments for a week, a full week my face was red with pimples and I have never had that problem. People at my job make fun of me ever time I’m done with a operation It looks like someone beat me up or some one took a razor after me. Face hurts for a week after as well. So I go in for more treatments after the 6th one and still I have to shave every day. So I’m basically paying $ 3700 to have some one burn my face and then it does not even work on top of it and also I have to have a red face for a week after the procedure. So I have been trying to get a refund and that has been a nightmare. On May 14th I called to ask for a refund, I went down there they took pictures and stated they would submit to the doctors and they would call in 7 to 10 weeks. well 12 weeks went by and no one called so I called 3 different days and finally I got through on August 13th Denver management stated that they need more evidence I sent them pictures as well So 12 weeks go by and I have to call them again and they stated that your request was never sent in. So then this new person states she will submit it and it will take 1 to 2 weeks so I call again and they state nothing has came in and then 4 hours later some one calls from Denver and says its been denied. I don’t think this ever got through to a doctor. And How do I get a refund, Do I take them to small claims court on this?

The customer service level and success with treatment may vary greatly depending on which office one visits and what sort of skin type / hair color they have, as well as other factors. Laser hair removal is most effective for those with pale skin tone and dark hair, though that's not a guarantee that it's going to work perfectly. I've been receiving treatments at American Laser Centers for over a year and have always been greeted with an exceptionally friendly, caring staff that takes extra time to make sure I'm comfortable and understand everything that is happening both financially and with the actual procedure (power settings, etc.) and they check in on my throughout the process with questions like "Does this hurt too much?" It's not comfortable, and there is some tenderness and redness for me afterward (I am having my face treated) but I have been very pleased with the results and while I haven't been able to quit shaving entirely, I do so much less frequently, and the change in growth has been drastic.

I agree. They did not hurt me as badly; however, they closed their office and took off with about $1000 of my money. I contacted the Better Business Bureau and they never got a response from American Laser. As a result, I NEVER want to pay for any service "up front" again!

American Laser Skincare erroneous and dishonest information to lure me to purchase

I have no issue with the employees at the Novi location as they are all very hard working and wonderful people, but it is their management who are dishonest and make statements which are false.

This company has an employee who is now a Regional Sales Manager that sold me two packages by making untrue statements, which, if I would of known at the time, I would of never been their client. Statements were made by this employee who now conveniently does not have an office telephone number that their Novi office is allowed to give out. I have never heard of anything so unprofessional and unethical about a someone who is a salesperson that sells packages and after they sell it, are unreachable.

These were erroneous statements that were made solely to get both sales. In order to procure the sale for her company, this employee kept reassuring me not to worry about the guarantee if the results are not right which they certainly were not. I am taking serious issue with this as it is very disturbing to me and professionally and ethically not right. I have purchased 3 packages with American Laser Center. When I was contemplating on what company to go with and speaking with people in the industry I decided to go with American Laser Center because this employee made it very clear to me that if the guarantee is up and the hair is not gone to my satisfaction that she will make sure that it will be taken care of beyond the guarantee. Because of her words and confirming this with me verbally I decided to purchase the first package for my t-shirt- back. Before I gave this employee who was calling me trying to get the sale and using erroneous tactics to reel me in she confirmed verbally to me if I purchase this that she will stand by her word. She said that she means what she has stated that if the guarantee expires and the results were not as expected that she will stand by her words.

Professionalism and honesty is what we look for as a consumer and this person has no respect for that or her clients, obviously. All that was wanted was my credit card # with false verbal statements to procure a sale.

I am a very honest and upfront person who always treats people the way I want to be treated and the sales tactics of this individual is unprofessional, wrong and purely unethical. I still am on my guarantee on my beard line which I will take until the 3 year guarantee expires, but I am going to do everything I can to alert consumers and government agencies on the tactics that this company's employee has used on me to procure their first two sales from me. This employee was well aware as I told her my concerns that if she did not tell me not tow worry about the guarantee if the hair is not gone that she will make sure it would be honored. Its too bad that this employee put the sale before honesty.

Signed contracts surely do mean something, but verbal statements that mislead the consumer are wrong and if I would of known this from the beginning I would of not purchased these plans from this company and happily gone someplace else.

This employee Gayle Wolman refuses to acknowledge or return calls. I would appreciate any help very much as I am very actively pursuing this.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Marc

American Laser Skincare customer service and refund

After I realized that I was getting ripped off I decided to ask for a refund before my first treatment. They said that the manager was going to call me to get my credit card information. She never called me. I left 6 messages before I decided to call the corporate office. I called the corporate office and couldn't get through. Their hold times are 30 minutes! I kept getting the voicemail for the corporate manager and she never called me back. I left 4 messages and finally had to threaten to call the CEO when they finally connect me to her. It has been 8 weeks and I haven't recieved my refund yet.

I have been waiting for a refund for over 12 weeks. I do not recommend American Laser to anyone. Their customer service is horrible and their clinic managers can never give you any information and tell you to call customer service where you have to wait on hold for 30 min +

DO NOT GO TO AMERICAN LASER...if you do ...make sure its a treatment you want because if you don't and want a refund you'll be waiting forever...

American Laser Skincare ex-empolyee how to get a refund

I am an ex-employee of American laser centers and every complaint is true on here now when trying to get a refund they will tell you it will take 4-6 weeks (not true) Demand your refund with in 1-2 weeks and make sure you get the 10% they try to take from you. Even if you have had treatment you can still get a refund don't let them tell you otherwise. They discount based on what you look like if you look poor they'll drop the price if you look rich they'll give you the minimum discount for the month. Some managers are great and some can be MEAN! do your self the favor and don't go to ALC.

I agree with the complaints that are posted. I had "laser hair removal" and the vela shape to reduce the fat. I had no results from both treatments. AND I'm still making payments. Boy do I feel stupid! If I could get my money back I would fight for the $2, 000.00+. If there is a class action law suite I hope I'm included.

How do I get the 10% they will try to take from me? I am in the process of getting a refund and canceling the credit card they signed me up for without my permission. (Medchoice Financial)

BEWARE of Velashape procedure at American Laser Center. I received a supposed Third Place prize of $300 towards any service at ALC. I went to my local Brentwood TN branch as I was interested in the Cellullite Reduction service - called Velashape. The manager - Melissa was very nice. She ranted and raved about the new inproved machine. AFter I saw the forms that said no refunds and that results could not be guaranteed I asked if she had ever had anyone not receive results. She said she had never seen a "non-responder". She said at most some people may need a few more treatments to get optimal results. I paid $2600 for 5 treatments and guess what? No results. My cellulite looked exactly the same. I understood that they could not guarantee specific results but I got NO results. She said she would send my file to the Doctors for review and after following up many times she kept saying she hadnt heard back. I called corporate who told me there was no refund. I said that should not apply to someone who received NO results. She said she would speak with the Regional Manager and I have heard nothing. I sent a letter to the CEO and still nothing. BEWARE! I am still going to fight this as $2600 is not chump change and not money I can just give to a company when I was just trying to do something nice for myself. If this was a legitimate and upstanding company they would refund me as a "non-responder". Since that was the managers term and not mine it has obviously happened!

American Laser Skincare burn scars

I have been a client of American Laser Center for 3 years and nowhere close to seeing any results! The only thing it did was scar my legs permanently! Not too mention the ridiculous price I paid. I think the public should be more aware of the consequences and the truth about laser hair removal. I have called the office manager numerous times and left messages but no one has responded. The last time I went in there was to take pictures to supposedly send to corporate but no one has bothered to keep me posted and follow up and this was over a month ago! They are the most unprofessional organization ever, and I have never known a company to change managers and have such a high employee turn around! Its crazy, they need to be shut down!

I can def. feel your pain, imagine having it on your face?! omg! I am going crazy, I have been a client of theirs for 3 years as well and I went to talk to them yesturday to tell them that it was it! since I didnt get any results, actually it made it worst because of all the shaving my hair grew thicker on my face! and what they did is tell me they were going to try one more time and I should see results, ... but what they really did is finish killing my skin and my confidence, I have really BIG burns on my face because they increased the level of the laser and now I am going out of my mind and dont know what to do... so much pain! and I have missed two days of work because of it... i have clients to meet with but I CANNOT show up to work like this.
should I contact a lawyer?

The dermatoligist in the ER when I went last night told me that I have Perm. scarring =0(

American Laser Skincare fraud and cheating

I attended a bridal event with a friend who was getting married & we both wound up "winning" a $300 coupon from American Laser. Once you go in they overwhelm you with information and get you to sign up for services that don't work (my friend got the hair removal package for the face & I went for foto facials). They are not trained professionals, their staff are not dermatologists & my skin developed MORE problems because of the extreme sensitivity to light that occurred after I started. I was told that I should be wearing factor 50 on my face... AFTER I received serious sun damage. I am locked into a package I do not want and what they offer you is cheaper and safer elsewhere. DON'T do it.

I won a gift certificate at a Bridal show too. They called for a free consultation. The tech was almost 1 hour late and did not even apologize. I agree customer service was horrible. The tech tried to tell me that I needed to go see a hormone specialist. I did not tell her that I am a doctor myself but I asked her how she knows I need to seek out hormonal therapy and she stated because she doesn't think my hair grows evenly". I asked her what amount of schooling she has attended and she stated she was trained on the job and this was her third month. I told her she should not be giving out medical advice without appropriate training and she got upset with me and refused to finish the treatment session. I spoke with the clinic manager regarding the situation and the clinic manager, spoke with her and she agreed to finish but I requested another tech at this point and since none were available, they said they would do that area of my body over next time.
After this, I could not get them to schedule me or call me back for 3 months. Finally, I spoke with the woman who signed my friend and I up and she scheduled me. I drove in 4 hours away and they called to tell me (less than 24 hour notice) that they closed the clinic this day. I switched to a different clinic and explained what happened and stated I have been trying to get scheduled for 3 months and they assured me they would help. Now on top of everything, they just called me today (less than 24 hur notice) and stated they can not see me tomorrow due to the only tech having "personal issues". After reading all of these complaints, I feel I have been scammed. Does anyone know how we can get our money refunded?

American Laser Skincare skin tightening package

I bought a skin tightening package thru American Laser Center which cost me $2200.00. I have had 5-6 treatments and I do not see any visible improvements. I am paying the balance of $1132.00 to G E Money Bank, the finance company recommended by the Temecula American Laser Center. I am very unhappy with this treatment and the lack of results and would appreciate the balance be deemed null and void, leaving me with a zero balance.

Thank you,
Patti A. Webster

I also purchased a laser skin tightening package from American laser center in Irvine and had 5 treatments. I have seen absolutely no results. At the first two they told me it would take a few treatments to see results. They took pictures of my face. At the third they told me I would see results in two weeks. They stopped taking pictures after the first two and when they asked me what percentage of change I was seeing each time I told them none. They nurse just wrote it down and did not comment. At the final treatment she told me I would see results in a month or so and it would be subtle.

Stay away from any kind of laser skin tightening, it does not work! And is a huge waste of Money!

I just wanted to warn others out there about how bad ALC actually is. First, most people go into ALc because they won a drawing for $300. Well, everyone wins if they put their name in the drawing. It's just a strategy to get new consumers in the door. Second I used to be a tech at ALC and could no longer take it because of how many disatisfied clients I dealt with. ALC doesn not train their employees well at all. The lasers are very poor compared to ohers lasers I have worked with at different companies. Also, the celulite tx's don't work at all! I did sooo many tx's and not ONE person was happy with their results! I just felt bad for all the clients who paid so much money and were complaiing that they still high high percentage of hair left after two years. Basically, they will do anything to get you to sign a contract, because once you sign, they will not refund! When you are a tech at ALC your main job is sales! They don't care how your treat your client or how well you are charting and making sure you are giving a good tx. If you don't upsale you will get fired! So, I left because I went to school to do treatments not SALE.. So, I promise if you want laser hair removal GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Totally agree. I paid $1000's for a package. The treatments barely worked. Not only that, I was totally lied to. I was verbally promised that I would be hairless on my legs. After 1.5 years of treatments (of the 2 year guarantee), I expressed concern that the treatments were hardly working and the head of the Northeast area promised to extend me 6 more months. After my two years were up, the head of the Northeast denied ever promising me an extension and I was told that any reduction in hair is considered a success and that they never guarantee results. What a scam. I never would have paid so much if the results were not guaranteed.

American Laser Skincare bad buisness

Do not waste your money on photofacials or microderms. They have you sign and initial paperwork that states if you do not have any results, sorry, they cannot control results. Well you probably will not get any resul;ts because the lasers are outdated or lame. I think they buy reject lasers at a low costs that do not deliver results. I wasted alot of time and gas to get a smoother and clearer complexion. I received zero results and spent over $2000 on nothing. Do your research and research the laser they will use, Ask how old it is and ask to see real patients and real results before you buy anything. I will not do any more business with them.

I disagree with the person that did not get results from the photofacial and or microderm... the person complaining may not have followed the correct procedure before and after. I am 47 years old and I received 6 treatments and I sware I look 10 years younger.
EVERYONE noticies my skin and my wrinkles are hardly there. Yes, it is costly -- but way worth it and much much less than botox injections every 3 months, or those expensive facials at Spa Winghaven which are way way overpriced. Trust me... they have great equipment -- they are featured all over the place and have had wonderful results. They use the up to date equipment out there.
Some people want a magic wand...

Thanks American Laser Center of Chesterfield. Everyone was just great. I'm looking forward to my cellulite treatment next!

American Laser Skincare belittled and no refund

On May 12, 2008 at 6:00 in the evening, my sister and I had appointments at the 41 W. 72nd Street location of the American Laser Centers. I need to inform you about not only the most unprofessional situation that my sister and I have experienced to date, but also the most inhumane treatment my sister has endured. You must understand that it is extremely important to understand the entire background to this situation prior to me explaining about what one of your “professional employees” has done.

I will begin with the fact that my sister and I have purchased two Laser Hair Removal Packages…including a full leg, face and Brazilian bikini process. Previously, we were referred to the American Laser Center from a friend of mine that has had positive results from her treatment. We were then referred to the Center on 41 W. 72nd Street in New York City. We live over an hour away from this site and still chose to come to this facility because of the good things we have heard about the clinic manager, Marisa Penkalski, and the results I had observed on my friend.

My sister talked me into the purchasing the package, and although I was very nervous, decided to do it. On the way down to our first appointment, I was so nervous my hands were shaking. My sister on the other hand was the one who was not nervous at all and trying to console me to tell me everything would be okay.

Upon arrival, we filled out paperwork and awaited our procedures. My sister went in first to a room with a woman (and I use the term loosely) who even from the beginning seemed quite unprofessional. My sister explained that after she entered the room, ANGELA nudged Marisa right by the door and said “You are going to do this?” Marisa jokingly responded with “No.” Angela responded with “You know how I am!” and laughed out loud as Marisa walked away. Now, this could have meant just about anything at all, however, when you are there about to undress and hear someone laughing, you can imagine the thoughts that run through your own head-just unprofessional.

ANGELA asked my sister to undress and then lie down on the table. The first thing Angela said to my sister is appalling! She asked her in these exact words, “How many pounds are you? “ Normally, this type of question wouldn’t be questionable in a medical setting, but when my sister answered her, she looked at her with a face and widened eyes and she said, “Oh” in a condescending manner. My sister, although unhappy with her remark, didn’t think much of it because she had thought the employee needed to know the weight possibly to set the laser machine (which we later found out is not the case at all.) The session went on with a ‘quick lasering’ to the upper lip. (At this point my sister was asked about the strength of the laser…but as you will see there was no other time that she was asked about the tolerance or intolerance of the machine).

The employee then moved to the bikini area. (Later, after I spoke with her about EVERYTHING that this woman did to her…Her procedure was nothing like what I experienced…and like I stated previously, we ordered and paid for the same exact package.) In any case, after a very quick time spent in the bikini area, the employee lifted up the paper cover and told my sister that she could put her underwear back on because she was finished and going to start the legs. She then said, “You are not getting the back done right?” My sister said, “Yes, the back is included in a Brazilian, right? That is what my package includes.” With no verbal response at all, the employee rudely placed the paper cover back over my sister and went right on to the legs.

I should also say here that my sister said that it hurt on a certain area during the bikini portion of the treatment, and the woman told her “The pain is normal on these sensitive areas.” Having the same procedure done with another employee, I know that if I ever stated something hurt, the first thing she would do is stop and say, “Oh, do you want me to lower the strength?” Why wasn’t my sister given that respect of even a choice of what she could do to prevent increased pain?

As rude as it was for this person to not respond with a verbal answer to a question that my sister had obviously asked, and that she just moved on to another area of the body the second after my sister told her that in fact was a Brazilian that she paid for, is unprofessional and rude. She could have very easily said that she was sorry for the confusion and explained the next steps of the process.

At this point, the employee stopped where she started on the upper portion of the front of the leg, looked at the clock in the room, and said the following…in these exact words, “You know, your legs are going to take over 2 hours because they are really big.” My sister was shocked by the words she chose to use and then said, “Oh, well Marisa told me that it was going to take an hour or hour and 15 minutes for the entire process. How long is my sister’s going to take?” The employee responded with, “Is your sister as big as you are.” My sister was again surprised by the response and only responded with one simple word, “What?” She said, is your sister’s legs as big as yours are?” First of all how dare her! To make matters worse then they already were… She continued to tell her, “The bottom of your leg is the same size as the top of mine. Usually when women come in their 2 legs are the size of one of yours.” What person in their right mind compares there own body to someone else’s in a professional setting such as this. And when a person is in such a vulnerable state to disrobe all of her clothing in front of a stranger and then get ridiculed is beyond my understanding.

My sister could then only respond with this, “My sister is smaller than me…much smaller then me, ” in a sarcastic tone. At this point, my sister informed me that her eyes began to well up with tears out of shear embarrassment. My sister explained to me that the sarcastic tone in her in conjunction with the tears that had welled up in her eyes appeared to change the demeanor of the employee at that exact moment. The employee asked, “Are you okay?” My sister responded simply with, “Yes.” The employee continued on to say, “I don’t think you are okay.” My sister was mortified at this point but thought she should just stick out the horror to complete the procedure she had paid for. “She told the woman in tears that she was “fine and to just finish.”

A few seconds later when my sister swallowed the ‘frog in her throat” she explained this to the employee, “You know many people are VERY sensitive to things such as weight and that you really made me feel uncomfortable.” The employee stated that she was sorry and didn’t know what she said. (Obviously you can now tell that that remark is more condescending then anything else because right from the start, she had asked my sister’s weight which is NEVER asked of a client for this procedure. And of course, with the other remarks leading up to this, it doesn’t make sense that this person says, “I don’t know what I said.”)

When the employee finished the top of her legs and asked my sister to turn over, my sister was so embarrassed that she started to cry and told the woman, “You know what, I can’t do this anymore.” The person turned off the machine and told her, “No just sit and relax and I’ll get you water.” My sister said, No! I want to get out of this room!” As she dressed herself with the lady still in the room, the woman continued to profess that that she didn’t know what she said. My sister could only bring herself to say through tears, “The remarks you made to me in the manner in which you said them have made me feel extremely embarrassed and uncomfortable.”

My sister being the good person she is went out to the waiting room and cried as she later told me she didn’t want my new and exciting experience to be ruined like hers was. Without knowing anything that was going, I happened to be experiencing the exact opposite of experiences my sister had. A little more than half way through, my technician, Libby, went to the room my sister was previously in to see of the other technician was finished with the other machine. (It was quicker than the one she was using with me, and she wanted to use it on me when my sister’s session was over.)

Libby came back into my room and said to me, “I just want to let you know that Angela just told me that your sister seemed to be “upset” about something and that Angela said “she didn’t know why.” (We already know that my sister explained to her why she was upset, so her remark, again, was a lie!)

Then Libby had to go out one more time and when she returned she said to me, “Listen, I don’t know your sister but it looks like she may have been crying. ( I later found out that this was approximately 15 minutes after my sister had left her room). Shocked, I just asked, “No, that can’t be. Is her face just red?” Libby did say that her face was red, so I assumed that she was mad about something that went on with the procedure itself. Never did I think that it could have been anything so horrible and embarrassing and abusive as what I was about to hear. As I finished my process, Libby professionally explained to me that I should go out and speak with my sister in private to see what happened and that she would wait with the door closed to give us privacy. She also very generously offered to try to “fix” anything that may have happened to my sister during the procedure. Little did I know the only thing she would be attempting to fix was a broken heart.

As I opened the door to the waiting room to ask my sister what happened, my sister looked up at me and began to sob so horribly that I couldn’t even make out a word she was saying. Libby then came out of the room right away to see if everything was okay. My sister was crying so terribly as she tried to explain the story to Libby and me. At that point, I asked Libby to call Marisa, the manager, because this was more than unacceptable. She did so right away still offering her sincere apologies to my sister and me.

My sister attempted to tell the story to the manager still in tears, and something interesting came out of this. Marisa had informed my sister that Angela had called her earlier to say, “I think one of my client’s was upset during the procedure. I think she might have got upset because I told her that it might take a little longer to do her legs then what was planned.” (Here we know that THAT is a LIE, because before she had told my sister and Libby that she “didn’t know what she had said” and that “she didn’t know why my sister was upset.”) So all of a sudden, she decides to call the manager and she miraculously knows ONE of the reasons that upset my sister---of course with a little sugar coating.

My sister went on to explain to Marissa the EXACT words that came out of her employees mouth as well as the rest of the horrible things Angela had said and did to her. She made it clear that the remarks relating to her legs were just the last straw to one full hour of the most embarrassing experience of her life beginning from the second she was rudely asked for her weight.

As I took the phone to speak to Marisa myself, Libby tried to console my sister as I spoke. I don’t want to disregard the fact that I had a wonderful experience and that my person made me feel more than comfortable at all times and was very skilled in her technique during the laser removal process.

However, when I compared every step of what was performed on me to whatever was done to my sister, I was even angrier. My procedure was very thorough and throughout the whole time, I was asked about intensity and how much I could tolerate or not tolerate. My sister was not asked this at all except for in the very beginning on her upper lip. Also, I compared where the laser was placed on her body compared to wear it was placed on mine, and it was NOT the same as what this person did with the laser on my sister.

Honestly, we have paid a lot of money between the two of us for these procedures and I feel that even with all of the horrible things that have just happened put aside…we should have been getting the same detailed and precise work as the next person who puts their trust into your employees to perform fair, equal, and legitimate treatment procedures.

It is imperative that this be taken seriously, as I am classifying this as verbal abuse and harassment. It breaks my heart to watch my sister cry and hear my sister say to me, “I feel like this woman just did not even want to work on me from the beginning because of my weight.” I mean really, imagine something you have dealt with all of your life-both internally and externally- day in and day out-and then it happens…your worst nightmare comes true! All of the things you are scared of and think about on a daily basis…come to surface by the words and rude unprofessional actions of an ignorant, animal of a person in your most vulnerable moment- (naked in front of a stranger.)

I can’t explain to you the pain my sister is now going through at this moment, but it was and always will be harassment in the form of verbal abuse. This is by far unacceptable and what happened on this Tuesday evening at the 42 W. 72 Street American Laser Center is not going to end there.

There is nothing that can be done to heal what my sister has endured and is still going through at this very moment. I am sure the feeling of embarrassment, horror, sadness and even shock that a person could actually say and act that way, will not ever really leave her heart or mind.

---- It has now been over 2 months and not only has my credit score been affected, but my mental state has really been affected in a horrible way. All we are asking is that a full refund is issued. This has been mentally draining and I need this to be out of my life. I can’t understand how a company could treat a human being this way and it is appalling. Below I am going to list everyone I have left messages for, e-mailed, or spoke with without any resolution to my case.

American Laser Skincare false claims on hair removal

I went to American Laser Center in January of 2005 for hair removal treatment. I paid a total of $2980.59. It is now July of 2008 and I have more hair than when I started. I have not recieved what I paid for. After hearing other people's stories I am certain that they are hustling people. After the first year I started to worry and they just told me it take a while for people to respond to treament, then they said it was because of hormones. Each time I get a different excuse. This is unacceptable and I refuse to be their victim.

I started hair removal in South Africa in 2006 and they assured me that after 6 sessions, close to 90% of the hair would be reduced(back and chest). Its 2008 now and after R10 000 ($1500-6 sessions) I too have more hair than when I started. What yacks me off the most is what a waste of money that is! What made it even more discouraging was that session after session, I had even more hair( i.e - I was having more and more pulses fired per session) And my specialist offered no guarentee of any kind, they are happy to make you pay time and time again for the hope that this "wonder" treatment will work, but don't be fooled. I'm going back to waxing because at least I know the hair will grow back.

You're right, he referred me to a lawyer in San Antonio who I haven't contacted since I was trying to go through the Better Business Bureau. I did register a complaint, and would encourage everyone to do the same since my location had NO negative records with them. They did agree that the Laser Center made no effort to resolve, so they have a negative now. It is a form online at their site and all correspondence is through email, so it is very easy to do... Please go file so at least it will be on their record.

I am in the process of suing ALC. They burned me, never informed me of any risks or had me sign a consent form before the procedure, promised to correct it but did not and then started canceling all my appointments with just a few hours notice. When I tried contacting their corporate offices or a higher up manager no one returned my calls.

Anyone else in the Los Angeles, California area have trouble with them? Let's sue them. Please contact me by email: shantilly9@yahoo.com

I starting looking into customer reviews on American Laser Center after receiving 8 treatments and still not satisfied with the results. I just wished I would've done this before I handed over the money. Anyway, I looked at my original receipt from ALC and the fine print at the bottom said that "If no services are performed under this agreement, a refund will be issued at customer's written request minus a ten percent administrative fee." So maybe you can find your receipt too and see if it says the same thing. Hope this helps.
On a side note, I don't think I'll be going to any of the remaining treatments now that I've read of all the horrible blisters and such that others have been complaining about. For one the original office I signed up the contract with moved and now the clinic I'm going to is about 3 hours drive and recently they kept changing my appointment time without notifying me so I'd drive 3 hours there just to find out that my appointment had been rescheduled. For that reason along I've seen 3 other clients stormed in the office saying that they wanted refund or threatened for law suit. It's too bad I never saw any of that when I went in for the initial consultation (the original office was much nicer and friendly and more organized, probably because it was independently owned and operated).

I went through the BBB online and filed a complaint only to receive a response from some legal clerk at American Laser who says they have a ZERO REFUND POLICY. Does not matter if I never received a treatment. They ran my credit card and apparently there is fine print in the contract that states NO REFUND even if services are NEVER performed. I am so upset this company is still in business. They are crooks and if I can't get my money back I want everyone in the world to know AMERICAN LASER IS A SCAM!

I WOULD LIKE TO WARN EVERYONE INTERESTED IN GETTING TREATMENT AT ANY AMERICAN LASER CENTER LOCATION

I GOT A FREE $400 PACKAGE TOWARDS LASER HAIR REMOVAL
WHILE I WAS DOING MY CONSULTATION THEY TOLD ME ABOUT AMERISMOOTH WHICH REMOVES CELLULITE WITH LASERS
SO I AGGRED TO DO IT ON THE BACK OF MY LEGS
MY FIRST THREE SESSIONS THE LASER HEAD WAS BROKEN AND THEY USED IT ANYWAY, I NOTICED NO IMPROVEMENT
BY THE 4TH TREATMENT THEY HAD TO RESCHEDULE ME 2 TIMES
THEN TO TOP IT ALL OFF WHEN I FINALLY WENT IN THERE THEY BURNED ME!

I HAVE LASER BURNS ALL OVER THE BACK OF MY LEGS
THEY WERE REALLY RED AND PAINFUL AT FIRST
THEN TURNED INTO BLISTERS
WHICH THEN POPPED
AND GOT INFECTED
NOW I KNOW THEY WILL POTENTIALLY SCAR

WHEN SHE TOOK THE LASER OFF MY SKIN I SAW THE SMOKE COMING OFF IT IN THE MIRROR
HER RECATION WASN'T SHOCKED BUT MORE OF "WOAH, HOPE SHE DIDN'T SEE THAT"
I AM SO ENGRAGED I KEEP TRYING TO CALL AND GET MY MONEY BACK
NO CALLS
NOTHING

IT WAS $2, 147 TOTAL AND I'VE ALREADY PAYED IT OFF

I AM GETTING PERSUING THIS UNTIL I GET MY MONEY BACK
I SUGGEST YOU DON'T EVEN START TREATMENT HERE

American Laser Skincare horrible customer service

This will be short and simple. Do not go to any American Laser Centers. Especially the clinic in
Greenwood, IN. I just recently moved in the area looking for a place to receive great hair removal BUT OH MY GOD I was in for a nasty treat when I step foot in this place. My first tx was terrible some new girl burned me, at first I was going to let it slide, but I called and spoke to the manager Amanda her name needs to be AIR HEAD INSTEAD she was very short with me and rude she even had the nerve to say she was having a bad day and was very red in the face. But to make a long story short I for gave her. Funny me and Amanda even became friends, and she gave me corporates phone number for a friend of mine in Miami, FL that is having problems at the clinic there.[protected] aks to speak to or leave a message for the regional mgr or HR. STILL PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE GREENWOOD, IN CLINIC those girls need to be retrained.

I used tothere and you would be correct about the way the office is ran. They hire girls and then in 3 days throw them into a treatment that they have never performed before without any training or experience. The manager that used to run that place quit as far as I know and they still dont have another one. Amanda was a raging ### anyway so there is no big loss there. The reason that no one answers the phone is cuz they pack clients in like sardines and they have no receptionist. That location is an absolute mess. Shea is the one running things now cuz they cant find someone to be the clinic manager. She is incredibly unqualified. She could care less about what happens to the clients or the people that work there. She is there for a paychech with minimal effort. You can usually catch her on her cell phone texting or ordering people around to do work for her. She also has no manegeral experience to be dealing with employees. Her idea of communicating is sending a text message. I worked there for only a short time and you couldnt pay me enough to go back to that hell hole. We burned people constantly and they just cover it up as if nothing happend. They make you work a 10 hour day with no lunch breaks or even a 15 minute break to use the rest room. They also need help so badly that they keep the ### workers they have cuz they cant afford to let them go and start all over with people who actually give a ### about their jobs. The corporation is incredibly unethical. They will do anything to make a dollar. they dont care if you see results or not, they just want your money. Once you give it to them its incredibly difficult to request a refund because corporate is the ones who issue the refunds and they could care less about getting them done. American Laser Center is the biggest scam! They treat there employees like crap along with clients.

I have just read all of the other posts regarding American Laser and it is amazing how we have ALL experienced the same treatment-nationwide! I was burnt two weeks ago by having a Photo-facial done. I stood at the reception desk and made other appointments, all the while the technician was looking right at me and booking these appointments. I walked home, and as I did, my face felt very tight and burnt. The best way to describe the feeling-go to the beach, splash some ocean water on your face and then bake in the sun for twelve hours! That's how I felt. When I got home, I went into the bathroom to put on more of the "special" American Laser Post Laser Cream...mmm...and when I looked in the mirror I was horrified. I had several burns on my cheeks, bilaterally, and a huge burn on my forehead. I could not believe this technician looked at me and booked appointments and never said a thing about how my face looked. After speaking with the manager, I realized that this company will try to put the blame on you in one form or another, and not take responsibility for any of it. What's funny, the manager tried to offer me another package for other treatments, rather than refunding me my $2600.00. I told her that in no way was I going near another laser. My daughter works in the industry and she warned me about this place and Sleek. She worked for both companies for a very short time. She told me horror stories as to how most of the technicians are not trained to do laser and do not carry a license to do most of the procedures. She left both companies for those reasons and would not have her name/reputation connected to them. She has since worked in other spa's and she said that if the consumers could see the difference, then anyone even contemplating going to either Am. Laser or Sleek should run! So, long of the short-I am seeking legal counsel due to the unprofessional treatment, and the fact that I was BURNT. They do not take any responsibility for that, amazing. The tech was so rude when I went in to fill out an incident form. She refused to help me obtain the forms and copies of information in my chart. The lack of customer service is just overwhelming. WARNING: NEVER GO TO, OR REFER AMERICAN LASER-EVER! Spread the word ladies.

American Laser Skincare terrible business practise

I met with American Laser Centers Clinic Manager Sara Patton on August 19, 2006, where we discussed the process and signed the paperwork, and I had my first laser hair removal treatment at the Cherry Creek, Colorado, location on August 25, 2006. The brochure Ms. Patton gave me states that it will take six treatments for the procedure to work, and ALC has a two year guarantee, which begins to toll after the hair is gone. I found out later that she lied about this; the 2 years begin to toll after the 6th treatment, regardless of whether or not the procedure was successful.

There was no difference in the area I had treated after 10 treatments in almost 2 years. According to the brochure I was given on August 19, "treatments must be repeated six times;" I have had almost twice that number of treatments with no improvement. My main concern was that my 2 year guarantee would pass without the procedure working and I would be out of luck.

I expressed my concerns at each appointment, but I was told over and over that I would see a difference soon. There was still no improvement, even with a higher laser setting and more frequent visits.

I contacted the corporate office last December in an attempt to speak with someone about the issue. I called multiple times, leaving messages for Kevin Piecuch and Robert Seffinger, but never received a call back. The following is a record of my phone calls and the duration of each:

I finally spoke with a Customer Service Manager, Eva, on December 31, 2007 (the only call more than 3 minutes long - the other calls were me leaving messages for corporate management). She advised me to have the Cherry Creek ALC take a picture of the treated area, and the corporate office would make the determination of whether I should continue treatments. She told me that if they decided that I would not benefit from any future treatments, I could begin the process of getting my money back. According to Eva, I would get a response from the corporate office within two weeks of submitting the pictures.

After not hearing anything for over two weeks after the picture was taken, I tried to contact the ALC corporate office, but was again unsuccessful. As a last resort, I filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau on April 4, 2008. After repeated attempts by the BBB to obtain a response and the threat of losing their status as an accredited business, ALC finally responded with the following:

I have recently received your correspondence directed to American Laser Centers. We at American Laser Centers take immense pride in our services and products offered to the general public. Therefore, whenever a consumer is not satisfied with his or her treatments, we not only take it very seriously, but do everything in our power to rectify the situation. Ms. Goldberg concerns are of no exception to our guiding principal of complete customer service.

After reviewing a non-responder report our technicians do not believe that further treatments will change the outcome of Ms. Goldbergs results. Therefore, out of the spirit of good customer service, we have begun the process of issuing Ms. Goldberg a refund for the amount of $1563.73. This refund is equivalent to the purchase price of Ms. Goldbergs package less 10% administrative fees as agreed in her contract.

Given the explanation above, it is our firm belief that this matter should no longer be in dispute. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I responded with the following:

I read the response sent by Ashley Willis on May 12. I appreciate that the BBB was finally able to get a response from them. Ms. Willis said that "out of the spirit of good customer service" they are refunding me $1563.73. However, I still expect the entire amount I paid without any deduction for administrative fees, as well as interest of the standard 8% that I am entitled to by law. She states that I agreed to the 10% deduction in the contract I signed with American Laser Centers. While this is true, they also agreed in that contract that the services they were providing would be completed in six treatments. As you are aware, they took quite some time to respond, which as far as I am concerned does not reflect their "spirit of good customer service." It is unconscionable for them to expect me to adhere to their contract when they would not do so. I also highly recommend that the BBB investigate American Laser Centers for false advertising and unfair and deceptive business practices.

After again not getting a response, I contacted the legal department representative who sent the letter directly. She had not received my rebuttal or additional information, so I e-mailed that directly to her, along with the following message:

Ms. Willis:

The following is what I sent to the Better Business Bureau after receiving your letter. Like I said, I do expect reimbursement of my full purchase price plus 8% interest. Please also send me the contact information for the registered agent of American Laser Centers who would receive a court issued service of process. Thank you.

After a week with no response, I wrote again and finally got an answer: I apologize for the delay in their response. I forwarded Robert Seffinger and Jacqueline DeLuca your message upon receipt. I also spoke to them regarding this issue. They are both currently in a meeting but I will urge Jacqueline to call you when she returns.

Have a nice day!

Ashley M. Willis

Corporate Legal Department

American Laser Centers

ALC is offering to reimburse me $1563.73, the purchase price minus 10% for administrative fees. They claim that I agreed to the 10% deduction in the contract; nowhere in the contract does it state this. Furthermore, rather than a check, ALC gave me a credit for the amount. It is an absurd assumption that I will use the credit towards future services.

Based on the circumstances, I am not satisfied with this. It has taken over five months for ALC to take any responsibility. I believe I am entitled to $1878.88, the full $1739.70 purchase price plus the standard 8% interest I am entitled to by law. Note the amount of time it took ALC to respond (I filed the complaint 4/4/08 and they did not respond until 5/12/08). I have attempted to contact ALC in addition to the 28 phone calls listed on the BBB report to get an explanation, but no one will speak with me. I will be serving them with legal papers in the next couple of weeks.

This company is incredibly unprofessional and something must be done about their false advertising - their brochure guarantees "complete satisfaction" and states that treatments must be repeated six times. This is not true and a violation of Colorado Revised Statute § [protected])(r), Deceptive Trade Practices. They deserve to be sued and shut down.

DO NOT EVER GO TO AMERICAN LASER CENTERS

American laser center ripped me off how do I fight back? I have tried Barber and cosmotology schools complaints and the care 1 credit card co and ALS and no one will help
Back in February 2008, I went to a bridal show in Citrus Heights, CA. While I was there, I entered several contests for various bridal gifts and beauty treatments. Within 3 days of the bridal fair, I received a phone call from American Laser Center (ALC) to tell me that I had won a prize for $350 worth of laser treatments. I went to ALC on 2/29/08 to collect the prize and spoke to Jen, the sales manager. She was a very high pressure sales person. ALC specializes in laser hair removal but Jen told me that I could use my prize money for foto-facial treatments. I didn't know what that was and she said that it is for wrinkle removal. She said that it was a safe, quick procedure with no recovery time. I asked if it hurts and Jen said no. Then she told me that the foto facial package with my prize money costs $2, 752.31. I told her that I couldn't afford that and she told me that she would sign me up for their credit card (Care Credit. She told me that if I qualified, it would be low, monthly payments. I didn't think that I would qualify, but I agreed. She signed me up and I was approved in a matter of minutes. Jen set up my appointments right away. My first treatment was on 3-6-08 for a foto facial. I was told that an esthetician would be performing the procedure. During the treatment, I told the esthetician that it was burning my face and she said that she would "go softer". That helped a little, but it still burned. When I got home, my face was red and burning. I called Jen at ALC and told her that I didn't want to do any more foto facials because it was very painful, unlike what she had told me and my face was red. Jen proceeded to tell me that to remove the redness, I needed to have the next procedure in the package, which was microdermabrasion. She convinced me to proceed with this treatment, which I had on 3-19-08. Jen also told me that this procedure would not be painful. The same esthetician performed this treatment and it was was more painful than the foto facial. Again, the esthetician said "I'll go softer", which seemed to help a little. When it was over, I went home and my face was still red and burning. I called Jen and told her that I wanted to cancel the rest of the treatments because of the burning pain and redness. She was very angry with me and said that "you can't cancel because you have already had several treatments". I told her no, that I had only had two treatments - one foto facial and one microdermabrasion. She angrily told me that I would have to take the matter up with Care Credit. I called Care Credit and they told me that any refund would have to come from ALC. I told Care Credit that I had already spoken with ALC, so Care Credit advised me that they would mail a dispute form to me. I received the form in about a week, filled it out and sent it back. Approximately one month later, Care Credit sent a letter to me stating that they would not issue a refund and that they felt that the charges were valid. I called Care Credit and the ALC corporate office and requested another dispute form. I received the second dispute form approximately one week later, filled it out and returned it to Care Credit, but also sent a copy to the ALC corporate office. This time, I received a letter dated 7/1/08 from Care Credit stating that they had issued a credit to my account in the amount of $1910.77. This leaves a balance of $841.54 from the original amount of $2752.31. There was no explanation for why there was a balance so I called Care Credit to find out why. They told me that ALC was still charging me for the two treatments and some Ameripure post face lotion, which did not help ease the burning as ALC had stated. They told me that because the treatments that I had were not part of a package anymore, they were more expensive. I asked them about the $350 prize money and they told me that it only applied toward the package price, not toward individual treatments.

You can't imagine how happy I am to have stumbled into your site! I have been dealing with ALC since approx. 2004! Yea, four years of total unprofessional and fly-by-night clinic(s) and employees both local and corporate.

My story is lengthy and very similar to some of those I read. However, I had consulted an attorney back in 2005 for help, but I only received a recorded message from someone out of Michigan telling me that they would do nothing to rectify my situation. We were living in Houston, TX, when day after day I saw ads in the Houston Chronicle for American Lazer Centers offering specials. I have been bothered with unsightly hair growth on my face and body and attempted every other source, except lazer treatment. The price was not cheap but okay; so I decided to try ALC. Big mistake! After paying upfront $1, 650, I received only three treatments (never by the same technician). When it was time for the 4th treatment, ALC informed me that they were closing that clinic in downtown Houston and I should go to another one. Fortunately, I found one close to my home in Cypress, TX. I had two more treatments there when they suggested that I have my forearms lazered. So, for an additional $1, 600, I signed on the dotted line. That was the last time I ever so them. My husband was transferred to AR and I asked ALC if they would refund that amount, plus the remainder of the unused treatments? I wrote a letter, tried to access them online, telephoned all to no avail. I had my attorney write a letter for me with no response. One day I found a message on my answering machine (months later) saying that they would NOT refund ANY money. I would have to just look for another ALC and they would transfer my records there. Of course, the closest ALC was Dallas (7 hrs. away). Couldn't do that. One night I was listening to the late news out of Tulsa, OK, where ALC was closed down because they had no physician on staff. The next day I called only to find out that they had hired a physician's assistant and were back up and running. I asked if they could get my records from Texas and they agreed. So, in January 2008, I began my treatments at ALC in Tulsa, OK. That very first appt. rendered me no treatment as they said that I had too much "sun-damage" to lazer further. They convinced me that I required Skin Tightening and Toning which amounted to an additional $3, 300. So, you're the doctor, I said. Okay, and I put it on my Care Credit account. There paid in full. That's where it ended. I made an appt. for the next week to get started but later that week they called me and said they would have to reschedule, as the manager that sold the new treatments had been fired and also they had to doctor.

That's how it's been since. The next manager was fired in August and now I'm told the clinic is closing. Guess what? I've just lost again. Please tell me what to do first.

I am a former clinic manager located in El Paso, TX. I can tell you that American Laser Center is a very deceptive company. They send us to extensive sales training seminars. After being with the company for a year I had start to get at least one complaint a day about the treatments not working. When I questioned Dr. Kanase about this he explain to continue to treat the patients and shorten the time in between treatments. With no change the patients progress I met with him again and refuse to address the problem. I got a call from Viviana Chavez the Vice president that told me to sell and not worry about any thing else. I told her I could not do that without having some sort of a response for these patients. She said to do my job and not worry about anything else. That I was hired to sell. Later that week the clinic manager in Tulsa emailed me a story that ran on her local news. Alc was being investigated by the Oklahoma Medical Board and Medical Examiner office. I immediately question Dr. Kanase again he gave me some general answer about not being able to share information about this until the lawyers say it is ok. Shortly after I was fired and was replace with another manager with no explanantion. I was told I was not meeting company standards.

I could have written this complaint myself. I, too, have gone to ALC for almost 2 years. I went for 11 sessions, 4 of them being double passes. I was burned 3 times (blisters), and I paid $6, 000 (yeah, SIX THOUSAND) dollars that they are not willing to refund. They started a "nonresponder protocol" that they have just decided to stop in the middle of after claiming they saw no hair in the pictures (Yet they refuse to address my request for copies of the pictures) that were taken after not shaving for two weeks. And then contradicted themselves by telling me to keep coming in for treatments for the other year of my guarantee.
They (read: EVA and JOANNE) are now not responding to my numerous phone calls and messages. I filed with the BBB last year and ALC refuses to respond to their attempts at contact. I am now in the process of getting a lawyer to sue them.

I have emailed you.

I have read your expirience and I would like to share mine. I finally met someone that is not HAIR FREE after such expensive treatments, please take the time to read my message below>>>

*******I am sooo happy to have found this website!***********

Please READ!

This is soooooo crazy! Like many here, I too purchased a full face package in year 2004. Paid $3, 500+

My story is a little different ...ALC has not only affected me financially, but also my personal life. My self esteem has gone done tremendously---TO THE FLOOR!

I only had peach fur, could hardly see hair on my face but "won" a "hair romoval package" at a local event.

Because it is required to shave before treatments, the hair on my face are thicker, and I am sooo upset and DEPRESSED! I have to hide my face with my hair and I can't even see my self in the mirror. I feel so embarassed! I can't believe my hubby knows that I have to shave my face. Not only that but my face breaksout when I get the laser.

I should have never EVER gone to ALC! I regret it with a passion.

Four years and they always say the same thing... ITS A MYTH... YOUR HAIR CAN"T BE GROWING MORE OR THICKER!

THen they had me go to the doctor and CHECK MY HOROMONES WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE FINE!

These people have switched management like 6 times in the last 2 years.

Then they tried telling me... well we got the new laser machine, we can offer you a "buy a treatment for one part of your body and get the other one free plus we will give you microderm treatments free"

I looked at the woman and said " ARE YOU INSANE? WOULD YOU GO TO THE SAME PLASTIC SURGON TO GET A TUMMY TUCK IF HE MESSED UP YOUR BREAST LIFT?"

The only reason I keep going back is because I have the hope of ONE day working! but I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW?!

Last year I had paid money to continue the laser treatments.

WHat should I do? CAN I STILL GET MY MONEY BACK? BUT.// WHAT ABOUT MY SKIN? MY FACE? MY CONFIDENCE?
I cant believe this is happening to me? I have to shave EVERY DAY like a MAN!
=0(
AMERICAN LASER DESTROYED A GIRL THAT WAS FULL OF CONFIDENCE AND SMILES!

I would never imagine doing any harm to anyone ! I can only imagine how many lives they have destroyed!
Please help ! SHould I SUE? keep going for treatments in hope of it one day NOT BURNING MY FACE AND ACTUALLY TAKING THE HAIR OUT? should I ask for my money back?

++++++++++++++Please Help!++++++++++++++++

In May 2008 I went to American Laser Centers in Santa Rosa, California.

I was told about this company because my friend gave me his $300 coupon he won at a fair.

Long story short. I too signed the contract. The next day I was feeling I was being charged too much for only 6 appointments = + $5, 000

I talked with a friend who said you should not be paying in advanced.
His example was: If you go to the dentist, get a haircut, dr. appt = you pay as you go-- NOT in advanced.

I called to cancel my laser appointment. No work or services were ever done to me.

I was then told I had to pay the 10% administration fee.
(I was furious! = + $500)

I told the laser people under the California law according to the “State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, The Consumer Transaction with Statutory Contract Cancellation Rights there is a three-day no fault cancellation.”

American Laser Centers would NOT honor this Law!

I then consulted my friend who is a business person.

That DAY I DID THE FOLLOWING—

This is The MANUAL BOOK FOR KICKING ### AGAINST AMERICAN LASER CENTERS:

(REMEMBER: ALWAYS BE professional and business like in your letters.)

1.) Called my CareCredit number [protected] CLOSED the account over the phone. WRITE DOWN YOUR CONFIRMATION NUMBER!

American Laser Skincare illegal services performed by estheticians

At american laser centers, estheticians are performing procedures are not lawfully able to perform.

I was reading some updates that texas department licensing & regulations has made. For those of you in the esthetics industry, you should read this and watch your back. Employers will try to make you do things that are not under the realm of your license! Yet when you get caught, you're on your own. Tdlr will come after you. . . .

9. As a facialist in a medical spa, may I perform laser hair removal, laser resurfacing, or laser teeth whitening through delegation or supervision by a physician, nurse, or dentist?

No. A facialist specialty license does not authorize facialists to use lasers, including lasers for hair removal, skin resurfacing, or teeth whitening. To the extent, if any, that a physician may delegate the use of lasers to a non-medical licensee, please contact the texas medical board at [protected] or [protected] or at http://www.Tmb. State. Tx. Us. To the extent, if any, that a dentist may delegate the use of lasers to a non-dental licensee, please contact the texas state board of dental examiners at [protected] or at http://www.Tsbde. State. Tx. Us. To the extent, if any, that a nurse may delegate the use of lasers to a non-nurse licensee, please contact the board of nurse examiners at [protected] or at http://www.Bne. State. Tx. Us.

10. If I hold a facialist license, may I perform additional procedures (Procedures not authorized by my facialist specialty license) because I work with or am supervised by a licensed medical doctor or nurse?

No, a facialist specialty license does not authorize a facialist to perform additional procedures or a more advanced or expanded scope of practice depending on the facialist’s place of employment or title of employer.

Lasers

15. Does my facialist specialty license authorize me to perform laser hair removal?

No, a facialist specialty license does not authorize the use of lasers. Under 16 t. A. C. 83.10 (8) , a facialist may temporarily remove hair by depilatory, mechanical tweezers, or wax. Laser hair removal is not a temporary hair removal method, and cannot be performed by facialists.

16. Does my facialist specialty license authorize me to perform laser skin resurfacing?

No, a facialist specialty license does not authorize a facialist to use lasers. Laser skin resurfacing methods affect areas of live tissue below the epidermis. Facialists may remove dead skin cells, but may not affect or treat live tissue. You may learn more information from the texas medical board at [protected] or [protected] or at http://www.Tmb. State. Tx. Us.

17. Does my facialist specialty license authorize me to perform laser teeth whitening?

No, a facialist specialty license does not authorize a facialist to use lasers. You may learn more information about laser teeth whitening from the texas state board of dental examiners at [protected] or at http://www.Tsbde. State. Tx. Us.

Unregulated services

20. Does my facialist specialty license authorize me to perform body wraps?

No, a facialist specialty license does not authorize facialists to perform body wraps. Under occupations code, sections 1602.257 and 1602.002 (A) (7) , facialists may only beautify a person’s face, neck or arms. However, as of the date of this publication, the department is not aware that body wraps are a regulated service in texas. If unregulated, any person may provide body wrap services.

Delegation to facialists

7. Can a doctor delegate cosmetology procedures in a salon to a facialist?

No. Regardless of a facility’s name (Salon, medical office, medispa, etc. ) , a facialist may lawfully practice under the facialist specialty license in an establishment that holds a cosmetology salon license, without delegation. In fact, a doctor cannot delegate cosmetology procedures. A doctor may delegate only medical procedures in accordance with the laws and rules relating to the medical license. Also, under occupations code, section 1602.403, a salon must, at all times, be under the direct supervision of a cosmetologist.

Each state is different, you will have to check with each states Board of Cosmetology. Usually if a person is trained, in a school or work setting, and works under a Licensed doctor or nurse practitioner, they can operate a laser. They are using a laser for COSMETIC purposes, NON INVASIVE laser. Meaning, the beam doesn't penetrate the skin and cut you open (that is called Invasive). There are different types of lasers with different strengths. You can buy a laser light for at-home use for teeth whitening and for facial purposes -- it's just not as strong as you would find in an Aesthtician's office, and definately not as strong as you would find in a Surgeon's office.
