American Income Life Insurance employment opportunity there

Dear Sir or Ma'am,

I'm writing because of the very disappointing opportunity I just completed with AIL.
I spent considerable time and money to prepare for a chance to work for your company.
Study, gasoline, testing, hours in training. Two months of time.
I did, however, meet your company standards at each level and was assigned leads as an Agent.
After just THREE WEEKS, I was fired for failing to meet quotas.
That's right, THREE WEEKS.
To say that I was treated unfairly and unprofessionally by your Ohio is a considerable understatement.
Worse, others at that office are now taking credit for my work. Two of my sales have been taken. Leads I cultivated for three weeks are now going to be pocketed by someone else there.
You call yourself ' a company for the working man and his family ', but I am also such a person. You certainly did not stand by me. Three weeks is no kind of fair opportunity for any applicant. I can only now discourage anyone I know from having any interaction with your Ohio office.
If I were in your shoes, I would take this complaint and these reported events seriously. But, at this point, I would find that surprising.
I will never forget the poor, unprofessional manner in which I was treated by your company.

I had a call to day from this company in Riverside Calif, They told me that they received my resume through Monster and it seemed to have all the qualifications that they were looking for. They also asked me if I had any managerial experience. They proceeded to tell me that this is a company that sells insurance to the unions, when I asked for more detail about the company and if this is a commission based or hourly and they refused to let me know, stated that there manager would not take the time to call me with the information. Thank God I found this website!

American Income Life Insurance not a real job they $ charge

American income life insurance is a total fraud! Dont even bother with that company if u are looking for a job their nothing but liars and hypocrites, the managers tell u ories and not the truth until you do ur own research about the bad reputation that the comapny has with its employees. A company that charges u for the training its a fraud and a waste of time and money this company is only comission pay and not hourly or salaried. This company is a fraud like another fraud company known as vector marketing,

Experienced, i live in a condo and i was desperate for a job, i was laid off from my last job. I got a call from american income to come in for a management position at their company and my first interview, i was excited at first, then i passed the interview and told me to come in for my secound interview the next day, it wasent even an interview its was a presentation of the company's history, either way i went like i said i was excited of getting a full time job. . . Anyways i went their was about 20 other people who also attended the reginal manager was giving the presentation about the company and how it works the training and pay, i saw a lot of people excited that day because in this economy right now its hard to get a job right now anyways, after the meeting he gave everybody a folder then its said that they charge for the training and that this company is only commission based not hourly or salaried, when i was at jcpenney i was in jewelry i was hourly and comissioned but here at american income only comission witch totally sucks! Anyways what makes me upset is that the reginal manager that was giving out the presentation that day about the company and its history never once told us that the training would cost money$$$$$ companys pay for ur training u dont pay them! And he was saying that their looking for trustworthy employess and this guy is not even being honest with its audience. I feel bad for the other people because in that meeting i saw a lot of excited people looking foward of getting a new job and it all turn out to be a complete total fraud and lies. I cant belive theirs company's and people like that especially in this time of need and the hard work and pressures of looking and getting a new job. I got invited to a third interview today, im going to go not for the job but because i did my research about the comapny and all its complaints about being a scam and its employees, i printed them out an when i go to the interview im going to show all the complaints to the reginal manager in his face and tell him that im not interested in a comany and managers that lie to its employees and that this company american income life insurance its a waste of my time and anybody that applys for this company right in his face lol!

Scam is still alive in 2018! Got an email saying I’d be a great fit for a position at “San Diego CA inc.” and that they wanted me to call them to set up an interview. Seemed sketchy from the beginning but I called anyways. No answer - said the google user was unavailable. No real phone number - sketchy. She called me back and I asked what the position was and she told me benefits coordinator for a company working with unions. Once she sent me an email with the interview time and address I was able to find out the real name of the company - American Life. I canceled my interview immediately.

Glad I found this posting! I received a call from [protected] and the woman told me her supervisor had looked at my resume and thought my skills were a match (didn't say what I "matched" with though). She was calling supposedly from the "Career Group" and I had just woken up and was too groggy to ask questions. She told me the address- 5703 oberlin dr ste 106, san diego, ca 92121- and set up an interview time. I was wondering what job I applied for so I searched the name in my inbox only to find nothing. Searched the company name and that company has no locations in San Diego. Searched the phone number and found nothing. Searched the address and found American Income Life Insurance. All of this was fishy and then I found this thread!

Yeah, I got the same call yesterday. Except I asked her to repeat it several times because I kept mishearing her. They're going by "Furer Group". But I googled the address and it's still American Life! She said the same thing, that my skills are a match which was clearly ridiculous to me because my bachelors and work experience is all in chemistry lol. My interview is today, though after reading all of these comments I feel like I should cancel it.

I'm happy I didn't waste my time on this Company! I too had an interview scheduled for today which is a Tuesday. I thought it was strange when the HR person who called couldn't answer my general questions about what the position. I was told the same thing, that the opening was for a manager and that I would be hiring and other offices duties. I guess always trust your gut feeling! Thank you for the warning! If your a salesperson maybe you should check it out but I would never give money to an employer no matter what your selling and I hate to brake it to you but insurance is a scam if this is how they are operating, I just hope that others read this post so that they don't waste thier time and money. Thank you again everyone for posting the warnings!

Thank you so much guys for your comments. I received the call today and assumed I had applied for a job in this company but just couldn't remember . So I closed the appointment for a face to face interview while on the phone. After checking my applications I found out I had never applied for any position in this company. Then I saw your comments on this board while googling about it. Now I have cancelled my interview. Interviewing for a job I never applied for, without even a basic written job description tells me they are the ones trying to sell me something, while it should be the opposite. Thanks again

I received a call today, the lady on the phone tells directly " You've got an interview 'at this address' without telling anything about the company she was calling from or the position for which I would be interviewing !" First I felt bad for not remembering where I have sent my resume. Then I called back on the same number and landed on IVR that said American income.I looked it up on google with the address and landed here !
Definitely a fraud. Going to cancel my interview asap.

So I'm sitting here in my car looking at this review. The ONLY reason I caME all the way here from downtown was because when I asked him what the companies name was he said it really fast both times and I couldn't here him. They wanted to interview me for a management position. I asked them "did your boss fully read my resume?" because who would call me in for an interview for that position based on a resume in security, home health care and a lead at a fast food place?. Well I was gullable and decided to cancel my normal morning exercise for this. What the he'll was I thinking?deep down my dad taught me better. So I went inside to look at the name on suite 106 and googled it to see employee reviews. Thank you guys for posting this because my time that I have I have to use very wisely and it would suck to cancel more things just to be let down and scammed at the end. Had they told me it was sales or marketing I would have declined at the first phone call because that's not for me.

I got a call from this company toda . The woman told me her manager saw my resume online. She said the company was called "American Life" I did not hear her clearly, so I said " Did you say American Life Income?" She then stated " no, American Life." I questioned her because I vaugly recalled hearing that nsne before, and I associated it with insurance. She told me it was a manager position and I would be managing employees, hiring, and other office related tasks. I decided to kook them up on glassdoor. Its Totally an insurance company! Why would the be so misleading? So I did more research and found this site. I definitely am not interested! I thank everyone for posting their experiences. I will not be going to the interview.

To everyone, if you are looking for a job where you get hourly pay insurance is not what you are looking to do.
Insurance is you building a business. You don't get paid until you sell something that is the way insurance is with the exception of three companies. As far as a scam, if you think that it is contact insurance Commissioner Dave Jones California Department of insurance in Sacramento if they were a scam that they would not be allowed to practice in the state of California. For those who really want to check things out here is the number to the state of California Department of Insurance you can call the number toll-free. [protected].
Until you get your business going you will need a job to pay your bills and work insurance full-time also that's the way it is.

I just got the call for interview . Same address was given to me . and management position was offfered to me.Definitely seems like a fraud. Beacuse I checked on the facebook account of the guy who called me.Even his wife works at American Life Insurance .But this guy told me he works for Torchmark Cormporation. When I checked online there is no office for Torchmark Corporation in San Diego. and the company is based in Texas. All this indicates its s FRAUD. I will now be cancelling my interview.

American Income Life Insurance hr call

I got the same call from a hr rep claiming they saw my resume online. I bit because i like the others needed a job as quickly as possible. I was suspious as well when she said she could give me the details of the position, after i stated i was not interested in sales or telemarking. I set the interview a whole day away to goggle the name and i can across these complaints posted.
Thanks to all who posted. You saved me time and money!

"Rainfire" is a perfect example of another kool-aid drinker for AIL. She's probably young (in her 20's) without much more than a high school education. If I'm wrong about that, then shame on you. As an adult you should know better than post these type of comments. Just because someone (and by someone, most everyone on these forums) had a bad experience with AIL does not make them lazy or a failure. Most of the blame should go to AIL. I really don't care if you agree or not, keep posting though. Each comment you place on here shows everyone the type of character that AIL looks for in its employees. I actually feel sorry for you. Oh, Torchmark never has been a Fortune 500 company despite what they tell you.

Wow. What a sad soul. Another under acheiver trying to influence the general population to ease the pain of his failures. This is a total and complete lie. I am amazed by some of the garbage people are allowed to post on the internet. When a person accepts a job for 100% commission, they have no one to blame for their inability to succeed but themselves. Its hard to look at oneself in the mirror and say, "I am a failure because I did not use my time or resource correctly." It would be much easier to blame an entire company for one's failure. For those of us who are intelligent, I will say this, the day you let the internet dictate your success and your destiny is the day you have surrendered your own ability to think for yourself. Never let anyone's poor experience keep you from achieving your goals. Remember that internet garbage is a one sided story. You may be agreeing with a lunatic . Who knows why this person was not successful. Perhaps he had anger management issues that could not be controlled. Or maybe, he was not as bright as he thought he was and would do better working as a w2 employee. Whatever the reason, it takes an angry vain person to post such negative garbage with the sole purpose of keeping you from realizing your ability. I would like to invite all readers to the ailife.com website to view the increase in stock and client base. I love the company that I work for and the clients that I serve. They are happy with their products and come from all different walks and backgrounds. From the businessman to the farm hand, I will always be there for you to handle your insurance needs. May God bless you.

1099 employees shouldn't be a red flag, just how AIL "interprets" its agents as 1099 employees. IRS clearly states that an Independent Contractor(s) are not required to show up to mandatory meetings and be forced join unions. Most people have a problem with AIL in how they treat their agents and their definition of an independent contractor/employee relationship. Basically you are an Independent Contractor with AIL when it is convenient for them to be so, otherwise they force you into an employee/employer relationship cause it is best for AIL at that moment.

Some construction jobs are 1099.
Tax preparers( or better yet CPA) 1099
cosmetologists 1099 in a lot of respects some times W2 and sometimes 1040
Licensed nurses 1099
any mucisian (technically) 1099
Writers 1099
I could go on for a while, but i think that's enough. I dont think that just because one is a 1099 employee, it should be a "big red flag"

Plus any job that requires you to file out a 1099, and considers you an "independent contractor", is a big red flag. I've done sales, and was good at it, but now I'm over the whole having your source of income be solely based on not how hard you work, but on how many sales you generate. Plus, the simple fact that they called me out of the blue, and didn't feel the need to give me a synopsis of what I was interviewing for, really brought questions to my head. They maybe classified as a legitimate agency, but I think we can all see that there practices are morally compromised.

Well I had an interview for AIL tomorrow at 9:30, but I wanted to do my research so I can come into the interview well prepared. But after reading the overwhelming amounts of disclaimers, I think I'm just going to cancel the interview, and spend the rest of this night watching movies...thanks for saving me gas.

If you don't have a clue how to sell into a low pressure environment, and you do want it handed to you on a plate ... then join the queue with the unemployed. My personal experience with AIL was $85, 000 in my first part year, with minimal poor leads. Having said that I did use their system to source most of my leads myself and make my own appointments. Still a satisfactory result for only 35 to 45 hours a week. And I was never humiliated by my manager for not doing a good enough job!

Forced to run dead leads at your expense? How so?

The agents don't pay a penny for the leads...

The leads are provided for free by the company.

Running a dead lead? I'm not exactly sure what the connotation to that was but a dead lead i'm guessing are people who just have a name no address no number no city and no state.
considering "dead" would essentially mean there is nothing YOU can do.

Sometimes their numbers are bad.
Knock on their door.
Sometimes they have moved, so the number and address is bad
There's this amazing website called super pages, try it.
The company gives them to you for free.
Any other insurance industry makes you pay 2-50 dollars or more, per lead. which 9 times out of 10 times, are way worse.

American Income Life Insurance they expect too much

I too interviewed with American Income Life. They did not inform me until the interview that this would be a commission only position. Since I was desperate for a job, I went through with the interview, was hired and started training. The first two weeks after training I worked hard with my supervisor and I made great money. But once I was done with trainging they expected me to continue to work 5-7 days a week to make a great income. I am like most of you where I got a salary most of my life whether I worked hard or not. With American Income you only make money if you work hard, if you sit around, you make NOTHING. I do not think it is fair that I have to push myself to make money!

Are you freaking kidding me?! This can't be a legit complaint...I'm a manager with AIL and maybe it's cuz I am a workhorse and think that you should get paid for how hard you work but you're complaining about having to work 7 days a week? Hell if there were 10 days in a week I would try and work 11! I've had plenty of positions in my life and I feel like salary positions are the ones we should be complaining about. Think about it. You bust your balls (if you're like me) to get your job done quickly and efficiently while joe blow just goes through the motions until payday. Checks come out and you have the same paycheck. How could that not piss you off?! I just don't understand some people...but hey I guess somebody's gotta take advantage of that minimum wage ...

Are you serious?! I am shocked that people actually think like you. I take that back.. I have met lazy bums before. I am an American income manager and I couldn't imagine doing anything else. This is THE greatest opportunity I've come across in my entire professional career. I find it relieving that it is performance based. Because personally, I am a VERY hard worker and expect to be paid as such. In my other salary jobs I would bust my ### just because that's how I'm wired, while joe blow that worked there too would slack off and just go through the motions and at the end of the week we get paid the same. Not cool. I have a feeling you would be my Joe blow... And that my friend, is NOT, let me repeat that...is NOT the type of person AIL wants to be associated with. So thank you for weening yourself out. And please don't ever talk bad about my family (cuz that's just what we are) again.

Is this really a legitimate complaint?!

"...once I was done with trainging they expected me to continue to work 5-7 days a week to make a great income. A company that pays you great money for just two weeks of work and doesn't expect you to work hard? Where are you from? I don't mean to be offensive in any way, but this is just upsetting. that the 'average' american has absolutely no work ethic, absolutely no self worth.
You should have to push yourself to make [great] money. If you wanted to make okay or just enough money to survive, then what excited you the most about this opportunity?
Anyone who goes in for an interview is told it is commissions, it requires hard work and a strong work ethic, if you don't have the last two, this is not a position for you.

Darn stuff- with that same mentality that you have as the OP, that is proof why most people don't work out in AIL. They don't want to put in work to make good money, they feel it should be spoon fed to them or that they shouldn't have to work hard to make a great living.

I pray that future generations don't have this same idea of how america is and should be. America was built on sales, and hard work. Selling ideas that freedom and less oppression was the way to go that the freedom to believe in whichever religion you want to believe is right. The hard work put in to establishing colonies and government and systems. It's been lost in a sea of internet/ entertainment/ porn and instant gratification.

I attended a job fair and somehow American life got ahold of my resume, and they sent me about 15 emails and called a few times trying to get me to set up an interview. I cannot see myself selling insurance, and I was getting kind of wary of their persistance, seeing that I don't have any experience selling insurance. After reading your post, I think I'll let this "opportunity" pass me by. Thanks Randy

American Income Life Insurance job opportunities

I have been unemployed for almost seven months. My resume is posted on several web-sites. I receive a call about managing an office for a insurance company. They were pretty sketching on the phone about the position. I scheduled an interview and went in. When I get there I am greeted by a young lady sitting behind a desk. I noticed right away that this was not a typical office. No computer or phone on her desk, not much but clipboards, blank resumes and a sign-in sheet. I signed in only filled out a small portion of the application since I had my resume, as she directed me to do. In just a few minutes a gentleman came out of a office and asked me to come in. We sat down he told me how lucky I was and how they had picked my resume out of 1000's. Then he took me to small conference room where, along with others, I would be given a description of the job. Afterward there would be another personal interview. There were about eight of us that sat and listened about how great it is to work for their company. How in just a few years we could be making $100, 000 if we were really dedicated. Then started taking people back for their second personal interview. I was the third person to go in. I was told that since I was more mature they would like me to be a manager in charge of training others. Then they slide a piece of paper over and asked me to fill it out with my credit card information to pay for the class to get a State Insurance License, which was $280 and I would also have to purchase a lap-top computer if I didn't already have one. I told the guy that I would like to think about it and I had another interview across town that I needed to get to. He stated I should go ahead and fill out the slip so I wouldn't have to come back. I told him again that I wanted to think about it. He then told me I neede to be back before 4pm or he would have to give the position to someone else. I said okay and left. The more I got to thinking about it the thought came up..."if it is to good to be true...it probably isn't true". Then I thought about the young woman that was standing in front of the desk as I was leaving. It dawned on to me that the guy that had been talking to me had told the person behind the desk (now a young man in a suit) not to let her leave until she had "the slip of paper" filled out. The more I thought about it the "shifty-er" the whole office seemed. A desk in every office a picture or two and a company banner. No phones, post it notes, pens and nothing personal existed in any of the offices. I did not go back or call them back. When I got home I found the other comments on this website. I thank God I did not fill out that "slip of paper" with my credit card information on it.

I replied to a craigslist ad and immediately got a call saying they saw my resume on Monster, and I would be a perfect fit? First Red Flag, there was a lot of background noise and I could tell he was in a call center environment to say the least. He too mentioned a Mr. Guzman which I have seen in previous comments. Mr. Guzman expects two references. Please add those to your resume and resubmit it. Hmmm...I told him I would just email him and he can provide those to Mr. Guzman, he wanted me to bring a fresh copy of my resume. I asked him to print one for him as I had no printer and the interview was scheduled for early the next morning. He hesitated and fumbled around and finally said he would. He also told me to dress professionally. I said what? (it was rather insulting) and he said, you know dress to impress. I asked him for directions and he couldn't provide them. This was to work with union benefits, where the new union person gets information and they call if they are interested. I am very disappointed, however not surprised. Sad state of affairs we live in. Some people may be naturals, bet you end up a recruiter to keep the ponzi scheme alive. Thanks everyone for letting me know and say a little prayer for me and my children.

I just got the phone call for these people this morning. For one they didn't ask about my background..and the woman didn't even tell me what the position was for. Just that I would be a perfect fit for their company. Asked if she could email me the information and there was a pause and then she goes on to tell me that she will text me the address and everything. Ok...that is a little odd...what if the number on my resume was for a home phone. But whatever. She sends me the text which has an address and everything. I then ask her to clarify what this position was hiring for and she tells me it is for Sales Customer Service Development Programming and Leadership (what even is that?). To which I respond - I am a graphic designer and currently not looking to change career paths. Like many of you I am curious about why I would be a perfect fit...for something that is not even remotely in my field = I am so glad I looked up the information and found this site or I would have wasted time and gas on driving out to them!

I went to the interview and did the training. I made about $800 a week while in training and am now out of training and making about $1000 a week pretty consistently. You do have to pay for a class to get the license but after your first week out of training you are reimbursed for expenses including money for the laptop even if you already have one. I was unemployed for over a year and they were the first people to give me a chance and I am able to provide for my family now thanks to them. also for the guy upset because he is a soldier, think about this when 9/11 happened American income life insurance company was the only company to pay death benefits to their policy holders. All the other companies refused to pay because it was an act of terrorism. So you might need to get your facts straight before bashing a company. We work with State police, fire fighters, teachers, etc. the back bone of America and we do handle all of their benefits, so you do have to have an insurance license in order to go over these benefits with the people that they get through their respective organization. Again all you people are passing judgement before you have the facts. And a lot of you have missed an opportunity. The good news is, is that I did not miss out.

TORCHMARK AMERICAN INCOME LIFE SURACE SMITH ALL A SCAM. I am unemployed. Received call - "Our CEO saw your resume and was very impressed, you meet all our qualifications for our Fortune 300 company and also top OH best place to work (Torchmark) and we want to meet with you right away." Needless to say, my resume, albeit impressive, is in another class - I have lots of sales, but it is in marketing now.

Then she proceeded to ask me what kind of sales experience I had. If he had seen my resume, then why was she asking me about sales? Secondly, she NEVER mentioned Surace-Smith - or AIL - and I didn't know about either of these until I walked in the door. In fact, I checked for the best place to work list, and never found Torchmark. Did my research on Torchmark and was already hesitant.

Once I got to the interview, I was hussled into a room with about 25-30 other people to watch a "rah-rah" video and then listen to a spiel about why it is the best place to work. Quite frankly, if it really is, then why do they have to sell it so hard? I think it is a huge scam. Also, they are busy taking notes on us (they have cameras in the room) and monitoring our behavior, so they know who they want to hire. I was a bit of a rabble-rouser, so I won't be getting a call back for sure. I got the room in a bit of an uproar before they came in for the presentation...haha.

I had a rude lady call me from American Income. I asked her to email me the details regarding the job. I told her that since I didn't apply for any job with this company I would need further information regarding the position in email. She got rude and told me that I don't think you are serious about finding employment. Then she hung up. I was just thinking no dear I will never want to work for a scam company, so I just saved myself the bother of going in for an interview, not to mention gas and my precious time to seek actual employment.

I knew something was up when my boyfriend kept getting calls from this company for a job. Since he was at work, I took the messages. Then a few days later, that same company Surface-Smith called me for an interview. I asked questions and I never got a straight answer. They set up my interview for Friday morning. Something told me to research this company and I am so glad I did. I do not have time to waste, I'm looking for a real job opportunity that does not involve sales. I would like to thank everyone for sharing your stories. It saved me time, energy and disappointment.

Thank God I decided to check out the company. The website for them did not seem real / fake more like it. I am looking for a real job - an honest one not to scam people or to be scammed. I am a single mother - who like so many have had a really hard time, struggling day to keep my home. Finally - as of 2 weeks ago - I no longer have that home - the home my kids grew up in.
Then I get this call - I had in fact posted my resume - so I thought "Oh My Gosh - finally a break" ... but then I thought, wait something didn't feel right. So I Googled - and Thank God that I did not waste my time or my gas to drive to Lexington, KY.
Thank you everyone for sharing so people like me know in advance what these people are doing.

I just got a call from a "recruiter" this morning. By the end of the interview, the guy told me " you know what, this isn't going to be a good fit". Probably because I asked how I got paid, and what the job actually entails. Sounded to good to be true, and it was.

just so you guys all know, i went through the interview process... you don't need anyone under you to make money. You sell life insurance to families that need it. I didn't need a single person under me in order to do that..

Surface-Smith managers need to "REAQUAINT" themselves with EEOC laws. This is a typical "BODY FACTORY" type of employment. Your told you will work hard and make gazillions of dollars. This agency has NO INTEGRITY to their employee's whatsoever. Being raised in a family whose livelihood was insurance sales, I can tell you this agency is bottom line Snake Oil salesman. The only thing they care about is fattening their own wallets at the victims who are stupid enough to believe their MIRAGE they sell to prospective job seekers. The worst thing is they PROFESS to be Christians...I ask of what religion? Do yourself a favor... DO NOT WORK FOR THESE PEOPLE...you will be used up...abused and thrown away like trash. Note to Surface-Smith study this web page...people are coming for you!http://www.eeoc.gov/employees/

One thing I have learned in life...never I repeat never underestimate who your previous employees are connected with.

American Income Life Insurance job

How do you know if the JOB that you have interview for at American Income Life is VALID?

Here is HOW..

I submitted my resume for an ENTRY LEVEL/MANAGMENT position here in Middlebury, CT. I DO have insurance experiance. Have had experiance since "07". Went in and it was like a class room full of people. And the "employee" was talking to us about how much money we can make. I left their thinking it was a great chance for me to work for a great company and a great chance to make some CASH. That was until my Husband ( just for HA HA's) sent in his resume too. Mind you that the position is for Insurance. My husband is an HVAC TECH. ( Nothing to do with ) insurance. His resume states nothing about experiance in the insurance industry, nothing ever remotly close to what the position was for.

GUESS WHAT...

They called him and told him that, they would like to set up an interview right away because he has ALL the qualifications to be MANAGEMENT. He has never delt with insurance before. So if your thinkin that this is a great chance. Think again!

I have a job interview there in the morning. I am a recent graduate of Business Management, so of course I was excited to have the opportunity. Then red bells started to ring in my head due to a previous experience from a job in Denver, Colorado that turned out to be a scam also. I decided to investigate before I waste my time and my gas. To my surprise my warnings looks as if they were right. My question is who do you report businesses like this to? Why are they still operating? We need to report them, because this is ridiculous.

I once sent my resume to a few places and never heard from any of them but this slimy outfit keeps calling me...just happened again and in the middle of her last sentence I picked up only to hear her hanging up and when I called back no one was there and no way to leave a message. They also have no email. They hacked my privacy to get my number in the first place and they don't even know I have NO qualifications for this work. I don't think they want anybody "qualified" because from what info I have gathered the work is cold calling, banging on people's doors and NO salary. And MOST people never break into the next phase, which is probably that of "slave-manager". Avoid this sleazy cesspool like the PLAGUE!

I sent my resume to a few places and never heard from any of the jobs I applied to but this sleazy outfit never stops calling me. I have NO insurance experience and wouldn't want to. I have heard they treat people like slaves and anyone who can survive that may have a fighting chance to scrape up into something else. I have also heard they will take ANY warm body. They just called me now and I picked up in the middle of her last sentence and not only didn't she hear me but I called back immediately only to discover that no one was there (surprise surprise) and they don't take messages. SCAM alarm right there. Avoid this crooked cesspool like the plague!

American Income Life Insurance - scam

I was told to come to an interview in Springfield, IL and dress professionally and all that as well. When I called to cancel my interview I did reach a voicemail, but not an actual person, which I found odd. This company is definitely fishy...I'm glad I researched it before I drove all the way there to interview for a scam. Do Not Go To An Interview FOR THIS COMPANY! Lauren

American Income Life Insurance fishy

I had my initial interview today on Ridgely Road in Lutherville, Maryland with Ms. Thompson . The company "found my resume' on careerbuilder.com" Mr. Vann gave the orientaion and I swear that his speech seemed like something off of a commercial it seemed like an act. I'm really not sure what the situation is, but all I know is a few peolpe stayed and a few people left. Ms. Thompson told me that I would know if I was hired by the end of the orientation and I "luckily "" I was hired ! There was no application, criminal background check, drug test, no indication that this job was real. Most jobs ask you for atleast a social security number/ card or something. Not them. I asked them( Mr. Vann and Ms. Thompson) a variety of questions and there was no type of consistancy in their answers . If things were real and true how come they had 2 differenct answers to the same questions? When I got back to my desk at work and actually thought about what just happended it just sounded like a whole bunch of crap, so I called Ms. Thompson and asked if this company was a scam, of course they said no but you know when something is too good to be true it usually isn't especially the figures if you make 6 sales per week you can make $115, 804 per year, and they offered me a managers position even though the only person that I have ever managed is my 10 year old son. I am only a secretary for the State of Maryland (Intern) BCDSS so how can you just make me a manager every thing is just so fishy. Once I got back to the office I started doing some research and I am not liking the thing that I am hearing about this company! Beware ! June 24th 2010

More American Income trolls trying to pull the shade down over your eyes so you cant see the truth. Its obvious that whoever is writing in support of Robert Chobor is probably his wife. He gets paid to recruit you and continue the scam so he will sweet talk anyone or anything. Sorry Robert you cant scam me and get me to do your dirty work. My advice to other who go into this place for an interview is to RUN! They will hire anybody talented or not. Thats not a good thing

wow I am so shocked at all these complaints about robert chobor I have been working with him for a year now and he is Very professional. and not to mention making great money. robert is very honest about the company and what it entitles... Funny a lot of people get fired for not being able to keep up with us in the company, its is a sales career and most don't keep up with the sales, so they either leave or get fired.. SO which makes me believe that they are all just very upset at the fact that he is doing wonderful and is making lots of money. Some people need to get over them self's! Wow I worked with a Robert chobor in the staten island office and that office was the most unprofessional place ever . I was only there for a short time and left after he went to work in D.C. I think. I'm surprised the company even hired him and others there as he always bragged that he did a year in rikers island jail for drugs and there was a bunch of them always smoking weed during work and fighting in the office . If it's the same guy from new York I would stay far away from what ever he's doing . I'll take a comfy banking job with a guranteed pay anyday.

American Income Life Insurance shady business tactics

My husband and i received a call from ail a week ago. The woman i spoke with on the phone said she wanted to set up a meeting to discuss our union benefits. I agreed to have her meet with my husband & i at 11:00am because he works second shift and wouldn't be awake earlier. She called at noon the day of the meeting and said she was running late. She also had an appointment she needed to make it to, and asked if she could meet with us at 1:30pm instead. My husband leaves for work at 2:00pm, but i figured we knew enough about his benefits that we could probably be finished by the time he had to leave. When she did show up, she had a great life insurance opportunity for us. We were a little taken back by this, but listened thinking she was telling us about the life insurance my husband is entitled to through his job. Long story a little shorter, we gave her a check for $65 dollars to cover the first month of this insurance . I was contacted a day or two later concerning automatic bill pay. By my own personal choice, i do not allow anyone to automatically take anything out of our account, and i told them that i wanted to receive billing statements. I received a call the next day telling me it would cost more for the life insurance if i received statements, but if i allowed them to take out the next months premium through automatic bill pay, i could change it after that with no jump in cost. I said okay. He then told me i had to change the date of when the money would be pulled or our new premium would lapse. Again i agreed. Long story a little shorter, this man asked if i was a stay at home wife. I said yes. He said he would have hr contact me within a day or two to start me on my way to a new job. Nice thought. Never had a job just fall into my lap when i wasn't necessarily looking for one... The next day i received a call, and was given the address & time of my interview from hr. I spent some time thinking about this company and how quick and helpful they seemed. Then i remembered a job telemarketing i used to do. And a vacuum company that did business in a similar way.
*the company my husband works for had him fill out a union card. That card gets copied and sent to all of their affiliates (Lead list) ail called us making it sound as though they were part of the union my husband works for, and did not actually tell us different in the meeting.
**add insult to injury, this wonderfully nice woman that met with us told us about a great opportunity for 5 people of our choice to receive, free of charge, $2000 dollars worth of life insurance. All we had to do was fill out the cards.
Those cards were 5 more free leads for this company to go after!
I will not be seeking employment from ail and i am cancelling their insurance do in whole to their shady business tactics. I realize no one really wants to deal with telemarketers, but be honest and forthright with what you are actually doing. My husbands union should have never been at the forefront of this meeting. It is misleading and i truly believe what i have been reading about this company! Maybe not quite a scam, but not good business ethics.

DonGotta- I'm glad that you came on and did your research, I am sorry to hear that you declined going in to the first interview. I hope your movie was good though, I don't think that's going to be something that helps you get a job and get the bills paid. Whether it be AIL or any other company, my assumption of looking for a position with a company is to have one main ingredient which is ferocious. Ferociously looking for a new position.

I hope you have since found a position.

I am 24 years old. I have been with AIL since i was 21 years old. That makes me 3 years in the business.

AIL has built relationships so many different groups and individuals of Associations, Unions etc...
And one thing about dealing with 95% of the families i have met with and will probably be meeting with is that hardly any of them first off, know what benefits they have through work. If they do, 90% of it is "i think i have..." "I think it's..." "i am pretty sure it covers for ..." but none of them REALLY know. Some have no idea if they even have ANY coverage, so for people to say that they already know what they have through work is 95% of the time a bold faced lie, or half hearted truth. Its just the same as car insurance, there will be a COUPLe people who really know what it covers for, and a bunch just speculating.

We do work with your union (in most cases, considering we work with over 50 thousand groups)
That is a list lead... You still filled out the card, you still requested benefits. We do not call on any member unless they filled out a card through their union (or were referred by someone else in their family or union). That again is a lead, but how else do you expect us to contact them without a lead? Osmosis?

I do find it slimy or more so, salesy, that the person who contacted you about your insurance and the billing process, tried to hire you. But that does not mean we have shady business ethics, much less a scam. It's essentially the same idea when you talk to a friend about your favorite ________ or the most interesting show called ________ . Or anything to that extent, he may be 'sold' on the opportunity, and wanting to give many other people the chance to see what he sees.
Either way, that's all just speculation...

I think you should have done more research on your work benefits, called and asked the higher ups if we(your hubbys union and AIL) actually work with you guys and if these have been set up for all of the members of _______.
They will tell you what you need to know.

Ail does not advertise and we only see the people who have asked us to come out, or those of the families (and their friends) of whom they refer these benefits out to.

I am sorry that you did not feel the same and hope that the bad taste in your mouth has subsided.

This sounds just like what my wife and I just went through 4 hours ago.I have been getting madder and madder with every passing minute thinking about the $20, 000 policy for $65 a month, and HAS to be auto draft from my checking account. 65 for 20, 000? It was all bull, lies of omission! Now this person has a check, a voided deposit slip, my signiture and my wifes, I do not feel good about this at all!
She didn't even offer me a job !
I'm going to the bank monday to stop payment on the check and stop any auto drafts.I don't trust the agent to cancel, you know, lies of omission...

American Income Life Insurance horrible experience

I used to work for AIL. It was a horrible experience. The company is completely unprofessional. Employees there seem to get positions where they have no experience in just because they date the right people.

They will call you and say its not sales. Its ALL sales! Its ALL commission, nothing more. You will make money, with time and effort, you will make lots. But if you dont like sales, your wasting your time and everybody will lie and say there are other positions. There never is!

AIL is a recruiting company that happens to sell insurance. Their main focus is getting more people in for sales. The more people in the less work the managers have to do. With the people in they use them as puppets to do all the dirty work and they get a cut from the work.

I went for my first interview today. I thought something might be amiss, so I've checked it out enough, I am going to go back to an extremely hard working job as a CNA, absolutely no sales experience ever. I'm a very hard worker, you have to be in my position.
Thank you for helping to make up my mind not to go to that interview tomorrow.

Wow. This is a total and complete lie. I am amazed by some of the garbage people are allowed to post on the internet. When a person accepts a job for 100% commission, they have no one to blame for their inability to succeed but themselves. Its hard to look at oneself in the mirror and say, "I am a failure because I did not use my time or resource correctly." Some people do not have the stamina or motivation to work for 100% commissions. Currently, I am making $110, 000 annually. I did not have to sleep with anyone to get the the management position that I now hold. I train agents how to build a new career so they do not have to wait in the unemployment line or wait for a recruiter to call them out of thousands of applicants. It would be much easier to blame an entire company for one's failure.

Your right that sales isn't for everyone, but one thing I will disagree about in regards of "AIL", is the manor they go about recruiting people. I got a random phone call from the HR from AIL today about a job interview for tomorrow. They said they got my resume from Jobs.com or something; but I never submitted anything for an insurance position. I had to see what this company was about, so here I was looking online reading all the disclaimers from all the customers and sales representatives affiliated with AIL. I've done sales, and was highly touted, but now I want to have a more legitimate career that didn't involve me promising customers all the rewards, but down playing the risks. AIL is not for everyone, and I command the agents that have made a successful career out of selling insurance. I only hope the company is forthright with job seekers about what positions they maybe initially applying for.

If you didnt know that Insurance + commissions = sales.

I can guess, you're the only one who didn't know that coming in.

Because we tell you this is NOT sales in the sense that you will be cold calling and door to door selling and what not (like TYPICAL insurance) but never once ever, do we ever say
THIS IS NOT A SALES POSITION THERE IS NO SALES ASPECT AT ALL.

I am sorry that you had a terrible experience in AIL, but I don't think it is because you were told it wasn't sales, or even that people were getting promoted because of whom they dated. Though, I doubt that's even relevant to a promotion.
I think it's because you came in with different impressions of what AIL is, to what it's really not.

AIL is sales, I'll tell anyone and everyone. Sales is not for everyone, I think that you may have fallen in the latter part of the catagory.

I hope you have found success in whatever else you do though.

American Income Life Insurance scam

I, too, was duped by a phone call suggesting that the manager, Mr. "Star", was interested in my resume. Upon further discussion with the "interview-setting-person", something just didn't sound right - in particular, it sounds like she had not even read my resume. This morning I woke up early to prepare for my 9:00 a.m. (seems to be the theme for most of us) interview when I decided to check this company out. Thank God I did (wish I'd done it last night - I'd have slept in). I sincerely appreciate all of your comments and appreciate this Web site. I may have wasted a great deal of time on this SCAM. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your comments.

I did some research of my own when American Income called me for a job interview today after reading these I'm not going. There were some things that sounded strange to me over the phone especially when the man named Troy mentioned to me about sending me an email and that he had to check the email for spam before sending it.
I mentioned this to my husband and before I had a chance to finish telling him everything he said that this whole job interview sounds phony and very strange. Thank you to all that posted these complaints.

American Income Life Insurance - harassing phone calls

This company will not stop calling my home phone number. Several months ago I had requested that a representative from the company contact me about supplemental life insurance, however after speaking with them I decided I did not want the coverage and explained that I was not going to do business with their company. At least once a week since then, and for...

American Income Life Insurance you people are tripping

you people are tripping. if you don't want to work that is onyou! i also went to ail for a job, i paid for agot a life and health lic. i did not end up working for them because, i could not retain the 9 page script. now i know that if a nut thing to have to retain 9 pages of script word for word but, i stll have that lic. and i am able to make a plethra of cash. i am signing a contract today with another company making a hell of a lot more money the i would have at ail (about 10k a month) . so i just wanted you people to know, they are not that bad, aslong a you are willing to spend a lot of time and hard work to learn a 9 page script. everyone in the insurance industry says ail is a good company and there sales people who worked in the past for ail ar the top producers makin in accesses of 20k per month and more.
i truely wis i had the time to learn thier script and i will say 1 more thing. the people i had met in ail were very nice and helpful with everything i had needed to get my lic. and any other questionsion i had. ail also had a class to make sure we had a fair chance to pass the state exam, find that at another company, if you do youare fortunate. i wish all of you folks who didn't have a very nice expieriance at ail have better luck in the future finding something that fits you but, remeber this. if you want a job that pays the big bucks, don't think itwill be handed to you, you will need to work for it!

Bob Fleming is a ###.

Jut the type of person that AIL wants to work for them. Someone that reads at a 2nd grade level and can't form a sentence. After reading your first paragraph I have no doubt that you couldn't memorize a 9-page script and that you are lying about making $10k a month with a new company. I'm sure you did your resume in crayon and no one in their right mind would hire you.

American Income Life Insurance wierd

First I was contacted via email. I rarely follow up on those as the majority are nothing but "BOT" programs designed to pull your inof from Monster or Hot Jobs. well this one was a little different as I also received a phone call. I was informed that the company was very interested in interviewing me. What was a little wierd was, that the person calling me said his name and than said "My boss told me to call you and set up an interview. "Dress Professional and bring a crips new resume" He set up an interview with Sasha Rogers the Human Resource Director. I was a little skeptical why an HR guy would have an associate call, but I can understand a busy person does indeed do what they must. Besidess I need a job and I was excited. 3 days went by and I kept receiving emails for recruiting from Sasha which also thought was wierd. Now these emails came directly from Sasha and I noticed that the address for where this HR Director is at is not the same address as where my interview is. Ok so they have multiple locations. The final wierd thing was when I received a reminder for my interview the day before. The email was poorly drafted and it was not from Sasha. I decided to go on line and look for some info and I found this complaint board. WOW... I found out that the company is rather sketchy. After reading many complaints of the EXACT SAME THING, I decided to call as well as got the same treatment that other got. I found out that I am not interviewing with Sasha. They refused to give me any information for the position I was to be interviewed for. I was told LOOK WE ARE A 50 Year company and dont need you. Beware.. In order to be a life insurance salesperson you must take a state exam. Who pays for the training? Not them. Who pays for the exam? not them... Oh watch out for Desk Charging similar to what the real estate business does. they charge you for your desk space. LOOK AT THE BBB Better Business Bureau webstie

Just received a call from Glenn, I am here in Utah, as is he. Oddly his phone number is registered in Orange County CA. Not a deal breaker if examined alone. However when you take it all together, and I from what I heard, and this is not intended as slander that Glenn isn't his real name. I also heard that four members of AIL Canada just received indictments for grand larceny and conspiracy to commit fraud (Ponzi Scheme); this is just hear say and I cannot verify it. I just wish everyone luck while trying to gain employment, which can sometimes be hard, and can be even harder with illegitimate offers like this. Based on what I have heard from sources indictments should roll on over to Altig international for the same charges, as well as Forger, Wire Fraud, and Theft of Intellectual Properties.

American Income Life Insurance loanonlifeinsurancepolicy

this is my fourth contact with this companyregarding a loan from my life insurance policy.two by phone, i signed the form requesting a loan & mailed it. Then, someone reprted to me that it was never received. So, I hand wrote a letter and sent it via certified mail. It was received on 2/08/10, and signed by Liz White.

I would like to know where that loan is! And why have I not received it after ten days! If i do not receive it within twi days. My next contact with you will from a laywer. My request should not have taken this long. As it has been at least four weeks since my initial request by phone and sending your form requesting the loan, and I made two - three telephone inquiries, before sending the certified letter requesting that same loan. This very poor customer relations and very poor business practice. I really need that money. It is mine, and it is what it is worth at this time, as I requested the full amount of worth at 1, 500 + dollars.

Sincererly,

Donna Knight

American Income Life Insurance job interview

On Tuesday, January 12, 2010 around 9:30, I received a call from a representive working in the Human Resource Department of a company called American Income Life located at 15575 SW Sequoia Parkway, Suite 150, Portland Oregon, 97224.

The HR Rep told me she received my resume from a business associate and wanted to know if I had time for a telephone interview. I responded yes, being excited I was getting a call for a possible job. She then asked me to tell her a little about myself. I explained to her I had been employed in a Human Resource department for a major manufacturing company and the HR position I held was eliminated and that I had been unemployed for 7 months. I then heard someone else in the room it sounded like they were speaking to her. So I paused my conversation.

The HR Rep then said okay, and explained that they are an insurance company and had Sales Manager, Customer Service Rep and other management positions open that needed to be filled. She asked me if I would consider a change career to come in and look at them. I said yes. She then scheduled me for an interview for the following day and gave me the address where the company was located. I asked for her phone number in case I had further questions or needed directions [protected]) Our conversation ended.

I wanted to be prepared for my interview so I logged onto the company website entering (job openings at American Income Life) then clicked on the link American Income Life company job and careers. The following items were red flags for me:

A very poor and short telephone interview.

I found 13 job openings for a Sales Management position and 7 job openings for a Customer Service Representative. None of which were located locally which I thought was odd.

I reviewed the job descriptions for the Sales Management and Customer Service Representative positions and found both job descriptions were exactly the same word for word. The only difference between them were the job titles noted at the top of each document.

I then clicked on a link called American Income Life Insurance Company - AIL Complaints and found complaints from former employees. The former employees stated they paid several hundred dollars for their training and had to pay for some sort of license. There was a phone room fee of $100 dollars per week employees had to pay that they were not told of at the time of hire.

American Income Life did not deduct taxes or unemployment from their pay checks. It was the employees responsibility to do this.

I then logged on to the Better Business Bureau’s website and found American Income Life Company rated an F, which is the worst rating a company could have. American Income Life had a problem following up with customer complaints.

When I called to talk to the HR Rep using the phone number that was given me, an answering machine picked up. I called several times getting the answering machine each time. So I left the following message:

I identified myself stating: An HR Rep called me this morning for a job interview for 10:00 tomorrow morning to take a look at Sale Management, Customer Service Representative and other management job openings. I explained that I found their company rated an F through the Better Business Bureau and that I was responsible to pay for my own training and a license and that the company does not deduct taxed from employee paychecks. I said this information does not make me feel good about this company and the job does not sound right for me. I wanted to call and cancel my job interview with you, which is the professional thing to do. That is important to me. Thank you for calling but no thank you and good luck. I have not heard from American Income Life as of yet and I still cannot get anyone to pick up the phone.

I really wanted to talk directly to the HR Rep that called me. In my professional opinion this is not good business.

Wait...do people spend there time posting there opinions on a company and a product that they know nothing about? Pretty much every post I read, except a few came from people with no factual information on the company and it's credibility. I however, feel as though I have wasted 30 minutes of my time reading and responding to something that will not better my life. Does that make me as lame as everyone else who does this? I guess for the last 30 minutes it does. Oh and yes, I work for the company that you know nothing about. I have seen people fail and seen others do very well. Those who fail blame the company and those who do well should credit themselves for there effort to succeed. Everyone who takes the job starts with the same opportunity as everyone else. All the managers making all the money also start with the same opportunity. The CEO started as an agent! So why do they succeed when others do not. Work ethic? No people skills? Mental toughness? No passion? Who knows? AIL agents are trained to serve those who need coverage and not to sell them. They are trained to provide a product that could potentially be all a family has to lean on in the event the breadwinner dies. AIL employs ex doctors, lawyers, high school drop outs, financial advisors, teachers, construction workers and everything in between. Why? Because its takes a truly unique individual to perform at the level successful agents perform at and these people can be hard to spot from an interview or two. While a lot of companies downsize, cut jobs, lay people off and develop technology to replace employees, AIL continues to hire and grow in an economy that is at struggle. Now if this were a bad company to work for and didn't have good benefits could this even be possible? Not likely. Oh and if you would like to disagree because you are entitled to your opinion you might as well just type...I am one of the people who would not do well with a career like this (Notice I said career as most people said job, hmmm) so I'm going to save my negative thinking for something else I can fail at!

Whoops I accidentally sent that, Sorry. Going on though.
JLSS - Your husband made the choice to work 80 hours a week. No one made him, that was not something he HAD to do at time of hire where they say you will work 80 hours a week or you're fired. He made a decision to work that much on his own accord. It's very unfortunate that he has not made any money, It may be partly due to his manager or training but some also has to do with him as well.

There will always be some members that are mad at you calling them, whether you've called them once or 20 times. They may be having a bad day, or they may just be jerks in general. They may also be mad at the last representative who may have stood them up or didn't leave them a note or whatever. There are a lot of scenarios that neither you nor I can specifically say is the factor. But I am pretty sure it's safe to say that the benefits AIL has are not the problem. You said it yourself you know it's so important to have, him not making an income for 2.5 months and STILL have an AIL policy. Most people cancel all their insurances before they even think about cancelling their Cable and Internet, yet you still have it and openly admitted the importance of it.

And about the divorce, I am very sorry to hear that. That is not something anyone ever wants to hear, but I can only say on that is that IF the reason why he chose this path for a career and etc.. is the reason that you both are getting a divorce I am quite sure that AIL was not the ONLY reason. I don't mean to assume but I can only say that if you want a divorce after that choice then there were other problems that were more pressing and may have been underlying issues in your relationship that never got worked out or that never even got acknowledged that is the REAL reason why you may be getting a divorce. So to say that AIL is the REASON why you are getting divorced, i believe is false, but him not making money in a career that he still openly (from what you said about him being okay with working for free) wants to be in and stay in and not made much or any money in 2.5 months may have just been the catalyst to the actually end. But again, I do regret to hear about a divorce. I hope now he has started making money though.

Lastly, on your last comment about "To the poster who sang the praises of this company, it's real..." Of course her opinion is going to be biased. Just as your opinion is biased. Just as my opinion is biased. EVERY PERSON ON THIS WEBSITE OR ANY WEBSITE'S OPINION WILL BE BIASED. Unless it's the guiness Book of world records, Because that stuff is just facts. Bad [censor] facts at that.

American income - Thank you for that post, I like to read all posts especially the good ones :)

Thepenciler - on both posts. I understand what you're saying about "losing it" and "busting a nut" (which made me laugh) but i've seen posts where agents have "lost it" where every ones immediate response "what kind of 'professional' would lose it or use such language, type that way, bad grammer, etc..." So It's a catch 22 either people act very civilized and get critisized for using a script (which you can read all my stuff, it's all off the top of this head, but i do try to keep some continuity with all my posts, when people do follow my responses) or they lose it and get flak for not being a professional or because they are losing it they must just be a stupid agent who knows nothing about anything and blah blah blah.

Volfirefighter220 - You are correct, every company has bad eggs. Just as I am sure everyone has seen in whatever profession or job they are in. There will ALWAYS be someone who takes advantage of the situation or is shady or even just doesn't care about the people / members /clients / whatever else. And in most cases you will have a good interaction with the agent or company. But not always. They are human too, they have bad days, they have things on their mind, they have problems in their own families as well. Thanks for the positive feedback it is always appreciated

JLSS - I just wanted to say I actually pointed at the screen and laughed loudly when I read the following: "Let me ask you, when is the last time YOU paid a future employer?" first post, Second paragraph, first sentence.
To answer your question all of the following needs YOU to pay to be employed (in the future obviously) Lawyer, Doctor, Dentist, Teacher, Professor, Computer Tech, Psychiatrist, Psychologist, Bartender, Cosmetologist (hair and nails), Fire Fighter, Police Officer, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Car Salesman, Real estate broker, Broker Including Stocks, Paramedic, EMT, I could seriously go on all day long. What's worse is that with all these professions where one has to PAY out of their own pocket or families pocket or student loans that need to be paid back over the years and to top it off, you still have to GET the job. With all those paying all that money just gets you 2 steps closer to getting a job (or career) at which point you now need to intern or apply to many places to MAYBE get a call back and MAYBE get a job.

American Income you do invest that $312.00 but once you do you HAVE a job. As far as licensing that has nothing to do with AIL, you have to have a License to sell insurance for ANY company, and that is mandated by the state AND countrywide. Cosmetologists is a good example all the people who are cosmetologist WANTED to do that, but still had to pay out of pocket and get licensed and then also has to renew license every several years (i believe 3 years)

Betty N - I have nothing else to say on your subject it was very informative but one question to you is why did you want to talk to the HR rep specifically? You already declined a job interview, why would you need to talk to her again? If you didn't leave a message and just kept calling you may have got her to call you back, but If someone calls me and tells me that they are not interested in this or that, I typically would not call them back, because there is no need to. In fact, most people would be very angry if someone called them back after declining a service. For instance if someone asks you to buy something and you say no thank you, they call you back and say "hey you said you didn't want to buy, but I am calling again just to make sure you didn't have any questions, about still not buying the product".

We aren't discussing this company's products here. Oh wait...we just bought life insurance policies through them. A must buy for us. So not only are we not being paid for the 2.5 months of 80 hour weeks, we are also being our own best customer. Absurd! We are severely upside for knowing this company at all.

am in Beaverton, OR - the same area as two of the posters here. This company requires a $312. administrative fee just to be employed as an independent contractor with their company! They have you write out a check to them and they mark the receipt non-refundable. Past that you are required to write them a check for training and insurance license. That is another $800. All with no reimbursement even though it's training.

Let me ask you, when is the last time YOU paid a future employer? Now for the worst of it. All of your leads are old and been passed around through all the other contractors. You work 80 hour weeks at least in their office and in the field making calls until 9 p.m. to people who have already been contacted several times and are angry. DID I MENTION THIS IS ALL FOR FREE? THAT'S RIGHT, THEY DON'T PAY YOU FOR ANY OF THIS-all 80 hours are FREE.

My husband has now done this for 2.5 months for free and still he isn't getting it. They have completely sold him that free is okay because later he will make so much money. Both of us lost our jobs last fall and he thinks this is his only hope. We have supplied American Income Life with 2.5 months worth of gas used on 6 days a week FREE employment. He's on the road so much looking for leads he's gotten into a car accident! Again, WHO WORKS FOR 2.5 MONTHS FOR ABSOLUTELY NO PAY? We are about to lose our house and are facing a divorce over this. My bank manager told me this is a known multi level marketing scheme not unlike a ponzi scheme.

A friend of my husband's got his this job and later we found out he was paid a bounty for doing so. Nice friend.

My god. A search though this website on American Income Life shows a counter-awareness campaign that is very active. I notice that not one AILer refers to the previous "naysayers" by name or quotes them. The AIL people seem very detached from what's going on in the complaint threads (almost as if it was copy/paste from a script... hmmm...). If this was a legit business then my advice to AIL is that you don't go around doing this shady crap in the first place. Let your rep speak for itself. But you do go around copy/pasting pre-written "responses", so you do seem shady, which speaks volumes. Can you at least just once lose it and bust a nut over one of us naysayers so then we'd know at the very least you're human beings. Is that type of response in one of your scripts? Who does one go to to expose this and bust this wide open? EFF? BBB?

I personally am a union member local 331, I have had my life coverage and my families with American Income Life for 10 + yrs. I have never had a problem with them so far. I guess with any business there will be bad experiences and good ones. Fortunately I have only experienced good especially when my Father had passed, he to had policies with them for over 20yrs and when he passed we used the freedom of choice to pay his funeral and made everything so easy so I never had a bad experience even the agents were very helpful when they came to review my policies. I dont know about their employment process but I know the insurance is good.

After receiving a phone call from a "Leslie" on their behalf at 9:26am on 1/28/2010 telling me that they received my resumé I decided to do a little detective work on them. I found this forum along with many others filled with OP complaints and tons of spam responses like the one from user "American income". I saw the post that began with "what do you mean by scam?" over an over on DIFFERENT WEB SITE FORUMS. They're very active in the counter-awareness campaign. This should be enough of a CLUE to anybody that this "company" is NOT LEGIT.

Please, to anybody that finds this message, defend yourself against scams with a little street sense. Connect the dots and become aware of the clues.
