I received a phone call from a Ms. Solomon from AIL claiming she had gotten my resume off of Monster.com and wanted me to come in for an interview. She set up a time for me to come in for an interview later in the week. I thought it was weird when she told me to dress professionally for the interview, so I did some research on the net and found complaints about them. Also, I realized this was probably sales at best and that is just not my type of job.
I decided I did not want anything to do with this type of job and wanted to cancel the interview. I realized I had not gotten a phone number from Ms. Solomon, so I looked up the American Income Life and could not find a number for them at the location Ms. Solomon had given me for the interview. I called the 1-800 number on their web site (only number listed) and explained I wanted to cancel my interview. The woman (or very inexperienced girl) took my name and phone number.
Then, the day before the scheduled interview, I get a voice mail from someone else at American Income (Gina) saying she had received my resume and wanted to schedule an interview. Right behind that voice mail was a reminder voice mail from Ms Solomon about the scheduled interview!
I tried to call Ms Solomon back using the phone number on my caller id and got a fax machine. I didn't bother to call the other person back.
I went back on the net and did even more research and found MANY complaints about this company and their hiring tactics. I feel really lucky I did not waste my time on even that first interview.
It is hard enough to be out of a job and trying to find a new one without companies like this trying to trick you into coming into an interview.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I was there today and and I left before I was interviewed by Ms. Solomon. First of all, I showed for my 2pm interview at 1:45 but there were already 2 other people there for a 2pm interview with Ms. Solomon. We were all told to complete application and then the receptionist took there the application in the back. Shortly before 2pm another person showed up for a 2pm interview with Ms. Solomon as well. After waiting for 25 minutes, someone else back to the reception area to inform us that Ms. Solomon had to take an “emergency conference call” and handed up a survey to complete. The girl that came in last looked at the paperwork that he had just handed to us and decided that she would withdraw her application. The guy that was handing out the survey became unprofessional and confrontation towards here. I decided that I did not even want to be considered for employment in a place where I would have to deal with someone like that.
Very vulgar to use curse words online, motogp3. And totally unnecessary. I worked for AIL for some time. My only complaint against them was their compensation scale was misrepresented (they lied). When you are told you will be making 40% of your contract sales, there are many exclusions (products the company gets 100% of and you get 0% of), as well as the fact your sales manager (or at least mine did) will take 20% off the top, and you get 40% of what REMAINS, minus the exclusions. Which amounts to, after busting your [censor] 60-70 hours a week, not much in today's economy where most people want something for nothing, and they prefer you to go through your whole presentation just so they can get the gimme and kick you to the curb. Nicely, most of them, but it amounts to the same thing. Part of my attitude is because after doing my research about insurance underwriting, I realized the company would figure out a way to wiggle out of their contract with these people based on some small technicality, if anybody bought one of those big policies and croaked for one reason or another. I don't believe in insurance, and I don't like it. So I'm not going to blow sunshine up people's butts and predict death in their near future, trying to sell something I don't believe in. But I did love the families I met along the way, and I remember them all. Y'all take care now.
You are selling insurance to people but you "don't believe in insurance..."?
Look up the words "honesty" and "integrity".
Now, stick with employment that requires neither.
