no furniture, no money
American Freight is a big rip off. Paid in full over $2500 worth of furniture. Never received the recliner we bought...over $400.00 for that alone. Supposedly refunded the money back to our Bank Account Debit/Visa card. Still no money. Went by there to talk to the manager, he was rude, all the guys on the dock went to cat calling and using sexual harrassment toward me as I'm walking to my car. I'm a business woman with a BA degree dressed in skirt and heels and I'm alone in a warehouse full of sweaty men. This company SUCKS!

I bought an $800 couch 3 months ago and I still haven't seen my couches. Everytime I call them they say "it will be in in about 7-14 days" Iv'e called about 5 times so far and I've benn up there about 5 times also. I'm really getting mad. Also I have another account with them for bedroom furniture but I told them I wanted to cancel it because they obviously can't do their job right. And they told me they don't give refunds. However when I first asked about that a long time ago they said they did. I'm really getting mad about this.
I brought 4 chairs on March 21, 2011, they were not in stock and was told they had to be ordered and would take 2 - 3 weeks, then as the order was being processed was told that it would take 3 - 4 weeks. I called during the 3rd week and was told they were not in, I went to the store a few days later to inquire; the salesperson looked up something on the computer then went to the back then he went to the assistance manager. The assistance manager looked up something then went to the back, the employee said the delay was due to the bad weather in the south? The assistance manager said he was new and he will look into this and to give him until the next day 12:00 noon and he will call; guest what I never got the call. I went back to the store and he did not even remember, he finally called the Warren store and asked them to hold 4 chairs and he informed me that he needs to have the chairs delivered to them hopely by the end of the week friday they should be here? This is terrible customer service. I will not advice anyone to shop or even look at furniture in this store.

Typical bait and switch sales tactics with lots of grief and aggravation thrown in for good measure. Also, our experience echoes that of many others I've read here. We were sent a flyer with nice looking, seemingly cheap furniture--every poor person's dream. The bedroom sets looked great and the prices quite reasonable, so we made the 45 minute drive to the store. Once there, I saw that these bedroom sets were made of cheap press board with a fake laminate. I should have known better. We were immediately directed toward more expensive, more presentable stuff. Even the most of the more expensive sets had substandard, press board backings and fake wood laminate. I thought to myself that I'd just as soon go to Walmart if I wanted furniture of that caliber. The sales clerk also pointed us toward a set that had a cracked headboard and was scratched up, for over $600. However, I did find one set for more than I intended on paying because it was one of the few I could afford that was made of solid wood. The 'free mattress' advertised in the flyer they use to get people's ### in the store with that came with the set was about 3 inches thick--not enough for my cat to sleep comfortably--so I decided to hold on to my old one and they could keep it. Most of the bedroom sets I saw in the flyer and on the web site weren't even available at the store, either, and there was a limited selection of what was available in our price range.
To make a long story short, I paid for the more expensive set and was told they'd have to order it and it would be available in 4 weeks time. Fine. They'd call when everything came in to set up a delivery date. 4 weeks came and went and I got no call, so I inquired and they told me that that set was 'discontinued' after being put on hold so long I had to call back (how nice of them to let me know in a timely manner) and we could come in to pick another set out that was in stock. He said we could get a set for $100 more, which I acknowledged and appreciated. I found a set that was more expensive, but made with the same cheap materials as the others I looked at. A refund, they said, was out of the question. So I took that set, which was not really what I wanted, but better than a blank. I also want to add that this stuff is highly overpriced for the quality of materials that go into making it. I couldn't afford the other night stand, since they wanted $200 for it.
The day they delivered the set they told us that the chest was all 'scratched' up and a new one would be ordered once again. So that took another week of waiting. I was told it would be delivered on that Thursday and we waited until 11 p.m. They never showed. The next day it was delivered, with no explanation or apology as to why they didn't bring it when they said they would. Reading some of the stories here, I feel fortunate to have even gotten all the furniture at all. I can't see how this place manages to stay in business, so aggravating was the shopping experience. I would never buy furniture from them again.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I called to file my recliner that broke with the company extended warranty company assurant.
Madison Indiana store, Linda is great but the extended warranty is a joke.
They cannot come until Jan 30 and said if he cannot fix it, he will not be in area for another month! Wow

August 8 2023, I purchased an open box GE stove after delivery and setup I ran the appropriate tests and discovered the oven broiler did not work when I opened the oven door I saw grease and stains all over the broiler
Please help us.I bought 2 recliner set from American fright Austin In August 2022.from very next day loveseat has some problems.now I called American fright they are misbehaving and rude with us.Insurance said they are not responsible for 1st year of purchase.no one is listening.please help us to replace love seat.
I bought the couch June 2022. There are 3 to 4 years. I purchased the warranty so how do I get it fixed or replaced. I haven’t even had the set 6 months. Please help quickly
I bought a new stackable washer and dryer for $1600 at the Nashville location and the washer doesn’t work. They will not let me return it for a refund or replace it.
My husband and I just purchased a living room suit, end tables and 2 lamps from american freight. They saleswoman told us that our furniture would be delivered the same day.It is 8:57P.M. haven't seen any furniture. We had been waiting since 2:00 P.M. I had called the store twice and asked about my furniture. All I was told was the drivers are on the truck and they hung up immediately. I feel like they could have called and let us know that they couldn't deliver it today or whatever the reason. I ads are false. People like this shouldn't be allowed to do business like this and treat people like this. We threw away our old furniture because we believed them when they said it would be delivered the same day. I will never buy anything else from them again and I will not advise anyone else to buy from them. I should had went with my gut feeling when I first there. Something just didn't seem right about the customer service. No one was really friendly.
On April 22nd, 2011, I complete all of my payments (totaling 213.00) that were required to obtain my furniture (American Freight stock item: Collin Futon item# 5290COCM)from their lay-a-way. On that day, the sales representative informed me there was an item in stock and I could come and pick it up the same day. When I returned, later that evening to pick up the item, one of the deliverers rolled out the furniture and prepared to load it into the vehicle. Before he could finish loading, the sales representative informed that I would not be able to take the item home because someone else paid for that exact item and there were "technically" none in stock. One of the previous employees who finalized the sale with another customer did not update the system correctly, resulting in a false expectation of their business obligation towards the consumer. Upon the information she relayed to me. I left without my purchased item. I called that same day to see if there was any alternative we could seek in order to retrieve the item from an alternate store or when an order would be placed to get the item in stock at their location. She then advised I had 30 days to wait in order to see if they would get the item on a truck delivery. I have waited 4 weeks and they have not made an attempt to call to keep me updated. I, then, visited the facility on May 4th only to find out the item was still not in stock and they had no idea when a truck would deliver. As of May 17th, I called to receive a reimbursement. The representative who answered the phone advised me that the manager will call me later. The manager never called. I called back May 18th and spoke with an assistant manager and he only advised that someone else will call me. I have not received my item nor a refund. I've been more than patience and inconvenienced due to their unethical business practices.
So... I've been inconvenienced. I'm a college student who worked hard to come up with the money to purchase the item and in the long run was stiffed. I did report to BBB though.
The comments stated above, for the majority, are poorly written. I can't be convinced of actions by American Freight due to not being able to understand the comments left by illierate individuals. Does the mattress have a Manufacture's warranty? Yes. When you buy a poorly built toy from Wal-Mart, is it Wal-Marts fault? No. Strange.

This is long, but you'll be the JUDGE - I've dealt with them before some years ago, brought some living room furniture and all went okay, so when I needed a recliner, decided to check with them again, on the floor was a Simmons recliner I decided on, the salesperson was nice guy, he stated it would probably take about week or 2 for shipment. I went ahead and paid in full, part cash & used credit card for reminder.
The manager decided to put the purchase on a lay-away statement as to not confuse the computer system category or some sort he stated. I had no problem, I was paying for my recliner and I had all my receipts and the chair would be here at the most 2 weeks. Week 2 – I call about the recliner shipment, they then tell me it would probably be an additional 2 -3 weeks. At that point I decided to start looking elsewhere for a recliner, because I felt like these guys are full of it, I mean things are shipped all the time different places, it shouldn’t take a month or more to get a recliner you say you have at another location/warehouse.
I decide to e-mail the company stating my problem with the wait time and just what all have gone down so far. I get a call from someone that works out there and he tell me that particular chair isn’t sold in Tallahassee, how did I order it, anyways I tell him it was on the store floor and a salesperson did assist me with the purchase, he stated he saw in the computer the order, and it will be a bit longer and they will call me as soon as it gets in, in fairness I will say the guy on the phone did offer me to pick something else or an upgrade, but at that point I’d had enough, I decided then to just cancel the order and get my refund back. Right, sounds easy enough, I’ve paid in full and haven’t received the recliner; it shouldn’t be a problem, WRONG.
Within a few days, I went by to cancel order with receipts and the guy at counter said it would take 30 days from the date of purchase, because it was a lay-away, I said no this was all purchased paid in full the day I came in, no layaway was done, he continued to state that the receipt statement was printed on a layaway form for part of the purchase. I stated to him the guy only did it that way as to keep your computer system straight was what he said. Anyways, I said okay I’ll be back in a week since then it would be 4 weeks/month since purchase and still no chair.
I return February 13, 2012, for my refund. The guy informed me that he can refund the credit card portion back to my card, but the cash would be sent from the company (check), takes about 5 -7 days, they’ll call me when it comes to pick up, I asked can’t you’ll just have the company send it out to my home address to save me another trip out here. He then said when the check comes in the store they will call me and I can then tell them the address to forward to me.
So now today February 24, 2012, I just called asking where my refund check is, he said the check was not there and it should be in the next batch within the next week or so. I think I’ve been very patient with their unprofessional business practices. Today, I’m going to call the better business bureau and file a complaint with the FL Attorney General’s office which regulates consumer protection. Thanks for allowing me to vent! Please excuse any misspelling or grammar, I’m upset and just wanted to get my story out there.
To Amy, I have worked in retail and have taught business for 15 years, when you made the statement, "i know exactly what type of customer you are. ive dealt with thousands of you throughout my career and know that you will search for any possible way to badmouth a company to try and get something for free, " it tell's me what type of sales person you are. I have had problems with the managers and company executives as well. I tried calling to resolve my problem and they were very rude.

american freight is horrible they say they can not refund you ... My item purchased would not fit into my home yet they wont refund .. the personal are all rude and i hate that i went here to purchase a product they have my $2000 and the couch!

I shopped at the same store in tallahassee and i saved a fortune. i bought complete bedroom, living room, and dining sets for the price I was going to pay for just a bedroom set from a different retailer. treat people how you would want to be treated and they will do the same is my only advice to you. the man who helped me out was polite and very helpful. he led me straight to the best deals in the store and entertained me as we walked around. he didnt pressure me into anything, instead he asked me to go home and think it over before i gave him the full amount (he held 3700 worth of furniture for me with a twenty dollar deposit.) not to mention, the manager went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly with my order. he called me before and after the delivery just to make sure i was happy with it all. you need to be careful what you say, i am sure there is an other side to this story. ive worked in retail for over 25 years and i know exactly what type of customer you are. ive dealt with thousands of you throughout my career and know that you will search for any possible way to badmouth a company to try and get something for free. I HAVE RECOMMENDED AMERICAN FREIGHT TO SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS AND ALL OF THEM LEFT HAPPY!
