American Dental Concepts SCAM ARTISTS

Buyer Beware...don't ever step foot in American Dental Concepts! Their only concept is how to get money from you. Unable to get a routine cleaning without a FULL set of x-rays. Unable to have the x-rays and the cleaning done in one visit, that would just be too convenient for the patient. Not allowed to make the appointment for the x-rays and the cleaning at the same time. Can you imagine? Unable to do a routine cleaning unless you agree to have a full scaling of all of your teeth...supposedly an $1100.00 procedure! Had a really bad feeling when I made the initial call and was not treated with dignity and respect from their rude & unprofessional telephone operator. Had a very extensive set of xrays taken and then they give you a never ending list of dental work that needs to be done...they call it their treatment "plan"...an astronomical list of things that need to be done for a total of $15, 560 before the insurance is applied! Set the appointment up for a regular cleaning and SURPRISE...can't do a regular cleaning unless I agree to have a full scaling done for $1100.00 to the insurance company and $220.00 out of my pocket. I left the appointment and had no cleaning done as it is so blatantly obvious they are not in business for the health and well being of your teeth; they are in business to scam you out of as much money as they can. Sorry American Dental Concepts...find another sucker! I will be sure to spread the word about your shady business practices.

American Dental Concepts Orthodontist

Horrible, horrible experience with both the dental and orthodontist side of this practice. We left the dental side over a year ago after being told in January that they could not find us ANY appointment after regular school hours (they are open late multiple days a week) until July. Found a lovely local dentist who got us in the next week.

This summer, our daughter (18 months into her braces) couldn't schedule an appointment because their calendar didn't go out far enough. They gave us a card and told us to call after such-and-such a date in July. Called once at the end of July. Three times in August. Twice in September, Once in October that finally (FINALLY) yielded an appointment for mid-Oct. Each time, we left an increasingly irritated message with their answering service. Went there and were told it was made a dentist appointment instead (nevermind that we don't go there, spoke with the ortho staff/etc.). They squeezed us in after an hour, and we were told by the orthodontist that he "took issue with that" when we told him we had been calling so long and that his staff would never not call us back (nevermind that his office manager apologized and said we had been mis-scheduled). He (Dr. Koff) basically called us liars to our face and couldn't figure out when our daughter's braces were finishing. He couldn't calculate that this January would be 2 years (literally).

We have never been talked to this way by a doctor of any sort and will NOT be sending our second daughter there who begins braces next month. Their loss. Please do NOT use these people.

American Dental Concepts Service

American Dental Concepts is the worst. If you can help it avoid them. I have two children who have braces. My children are school aged and we can never get a weekend or evening appointment. They constantly miss school and I miss work. They over book their appointments so you end up sitting most of the day. They are dragging out my childrens care and I can not switch to another ortho clinic because my insurance has already paid ADC for the braces and maintenance. Their Center City and City Line Avenue offices are the horrible. They are slow and the time spent waiting is 3 times as long as the time they spend in the chair. They sent my child to a "specialist" in east giblip for a referral and the "specialist" they referred could not see what the orthodontist was talking about and sent us on our way. That was a day of school and work wasted. Steer clear of this chain, and do your research when looking for a good Dentist/Orthodontist. I wish I had. They are horrible.

I am also having a number of problems with American Dental Concepts! I have invisalign through them and it has been a nightmare almost the entire time. My original doctor, who was only a dentist by the way, had to leave and move to California for some sort of family emergency halfway through my trays. Then I had to transfer to another office nowhere near where I live to a place with no parking! I made my first appointment with the new office to pick up my next set of trays only to discover that my trays had been sent to the location in NE Philadelphia to which I had been told that I would have to go pick them up there. When I visited there, they ushered me to the back right away, but I didn't see the orthodontist for about 45 minutes and only then because he noticed me sitting in the waiting area waiting for him! No one told him that I was a patient for him to see that day! Finally I got my trays that day and they sent the rest of them to the right office.

Now the problem was that there is only one orthodontist team for the whole greater Philadelphia area and they have to travel to all the different offices, so they are only in certain offices on certain days. So there is no flexibility with appointments. Not only that, but when I schedule an appointment, no matter what time of day it is, I show up on time and wait in the waiting area for at least 45 minutes (sometimes over an hour). Then they take me back to a chair only to wait to see the orthodontist for at least another 15 minutes. Then you only see the orthodontist for about 30 seconds and have no opportunities to ask questions. He only asks what number tray you are on and dispenses the next three and says make an appointment and come back in another 6 weeks.

Well now I am having other problems. I think because my original doctor was only a dentist and not an orthodontist (which I did not know at the time) there are problems with my invisalign. I was supposed to be finished almost 3 months ago, but my teeth aren't actually straight. So there was some sort of problem with the initial ordering of the trays I believe. So now I am trying to order a revision to correct the teeth that are still crooked. I went in almost 2 months ago for new impressions and everything (it is quite a process) and was told to wait for them to call me. So 2 months go by and I haven't heard anything so I try to call to see if my revisions are in. It was a Friday, which is the day they are usually in my office, so I called and they weren't there. So they transferred me to the location where they were that day and the lady has to call me back. She did call me back quickly the first time, but only to say that now they can't even find me in the invisalign system! So I'm supposed to wait for her to call back again. More than an hour goes by and I hear nothing, so I call back and she says she has to talk to her boss who isn't in until Monday plus I think she has the facts wrong because said that I am with the female orthodontist when I am not really with either of them. I don't know what is going to happen now. The lady was supposed to call me back today. It is 1:30 and she hasn't yet. I called and they are conveniently at lunch until 2 so hopefully they will call back and I can find out what is going on!

This place is terrible! Never go here for anything. The other comment is 100% correct. The staff is rude and they barely pay attention to you when they are there. They are only concerned with making the almighty dollar by cramming as many appointments into a day as possible.

American Dental Concepts Rude, uninformed and unprofessional front desk staff

It was necessary for me to change dentists/periodontists because I retired and my regular dentist did not accept Aetna Dental through Medicare. I hit the American Dental Concepts website and was satisfied with what I read and found their financial arrangements easy to handle. No downpayment and convenient financing.

On my first visit, I was told I needed fillings and a crown replaced. We proceeded with the fillings and another appointment was made for the crown. At that time I was told they required $100 upfront to make the appt, which I thought was odd but I paid it. The total bill for the crown would be $744. On 4/20 the work was started, impressions made and a temporary crown was put in place. I was told the permanent crown would be ready in 3 weeks. At the close of that appointment, I was told by the receptionist that payment in full was required now so that the crown could be ordered. I told them I was not advised of this but I would give them another $250 and fully expected to make another appointment to come back in 3 weeks to have the crown put in place. No, she responded, we need the whole amount. I refused since I was not advised of this policy beforehand and as the receptionist said, "I did not sign a treatment plan." I explained that I was not accustomed to paying in full for a service that was not completed. I stood at the front desk while the office manager who was sitting next to the receptionist totally ignored the problem and just left me standing there, in silence. I gave them the $250 check and left, figuring I paid them for half the procedure.

I returned the following week for a periodontal treatment and left my name at the front desk to confirm my arrival. I was left sitting in the waiting room for almost 25 minutes when the hygenist came out, introduced herself and when we got back to the treatment room, she told me I was not on the schedule and she had no idea I was waiting for her. The receptionist was obviously performing her vendetta nonsense.

On my way out, I gave a different receptionist my co-pay for the day's visit and asked her if the office manager was in. She said he was out to lunch. I asked her for his name and she refused to give me his last name. (I wanted to asked if he was on the 10 Most Wanted List) The conversation turned to the crown which was still in limbo, and her snotty mouth told me I had to apply for a charge through their financial institution before they would order the crown. I asked her if the firm was in bad financial condition since they needed more than $350 to order the crown. I was also shocked to learn that their website advertises one thing and their policies are quite different. I was never told at the end of the 4/20 visit about their financial services, only that I had to pay for the procedure upfront before it was completed.

My dog's vet treats my dog better than these toxic children at the front desk treat their patients. I have never been spoken to in the tone I was on that day or on any visit I have had there. Their attitude apparently is "we're here for your convenience, if you don't like it, go someplace else."

I will do just that, thank you.

American Dental Concepts Scamming for unnecessary services

I went to American Dental Concepts because one of my teeth wasn't feeling right. I wasn't in any sort of pain but I wanted to have it looked into.

When called the office, they asked when I would like to come in so I told them I'd like to come in whenever they had an opening. They gave me a fast appointment (next day) and I learned when I showed up that they were billing the appontment as an emergency (which this clearly was not).

They performed a full exam and also took a complete set of x-rays, however, the Dentist could not find anything wrong in the area of my mouth I was mentioning. They pointed out that it had been a while since my last cleaning so they were recommending that I have a full-mouth, below the gumline scaling and that insurance didn't cover the majority of the work. They gave me the cost-breakdown on my way out and told me to go home and give some thought about the proceedure.

48 hours later, I called the office and mentioned to them that the tooth was still feeling odd and I was starting to get a dull ache. The person who answered the phone told me that I would continue to experience pain until I made arrangements to have the full scaling done by them. Not wanting to take the opinion of a front-desk person, I asked them to consult the Dentist. The receptionist came back on the line and told me the Dentist wanted me to make an appointment with an Endodontist so I could have re-treatment of a root canal. (Note: The Endo is not part of their office.) When I questioned how a diagnosis just changed from a cleaning to a root canal re-treatment, I was told nothing other than to call the endodontist.

I was able to get an appointment at the Endo the next day and he took an x-ray of the tooth and showed me where I had a significant infection which would require a root canal re-treatment and couldn't believe the Dentist did not see it. I asked if this was attributed to any need of a scaling and he told me if I had gone through with starting a scaling (which in his opinion I didn't really need, anyway) I would have been in big trouble.

After the root canal was finished by the Endo, I had to make an appointment for American Dental Concepts to finish the process. They informed me I would need to have a new core, post and crown on the tooth the Endo just worked on, however, they would not begin the work until I completed the full scaling, first!

Through my insurer, I changed to a different primary care Dentist and had another set of x-rays performed. I was advised I had a perfectly good core and post in the tooth already and the only thing I should have done is get a new crown on the tooth (because the Endo had to drill through it). They also confirmed there was no real need for a scaling to be perfomed any time soon.

I'm glad to be done with American Dental Concepts. Their business practices are suspect and their front-desk receptionists are rude. Not to mention it can take several calls to the office before someone will answer the phone DURING business hours.

I recently went to American Dental Concepts because I was having sensitive teeth. They told me I have several cavities that needed filling. After they did the work I have had nothing but problems.I am in severe pain and went back for an emergency visit. The Dentist checked and said I had an impacted wisdom tooth however it hurts is a chance that they filled not my wisdom tooth. I will not go back there I will try to find another dentist. I have never had any problems until I went to Modern Dental Concepts. The receptionist are very rude on the phone.

I recently went to American Dental Concepts for a check-up and cleaning. The dentist took x-rays saying that he thought I may need a re-do root canal under my temporary crown, but he wasn't sure so he referred me to an endodontist as well as an ENT doctor. I went to both, they took x-rays and both said I didn't need root canal. When I returned to American Dental Concepts, funny thing, I had to explain everything that the 2 previous doctors told me. Instead of him calling these doctors and touching base with them about his patient, referring to me, he asked me how my visits went and proceeded to put the crown on. Well, I have been having big time problems ever since he placed this crown on. He keeps on telling me that it needs to be adjusted and come back to the office to get it filed down. Well how many more times do I have to go back to get it filed down before there isn't a crown left at all. Another thing is I had a crown placed on several years ago, I never, never, never had this experience before. None of this adjustment ### that I am experiencing now. I think he is a poor qualified Asian dentist who doesn't ### from a hole in the wall. He better get this right because if not, I'm reporting him to the Better Business Bureau and I'm not paying any more money. [censored] are greedy anyway so he is out to get more and more and more money. NOT HAPPENING!

I am also having problem with American Dental Concepts in Voorhees, NJ. They have been reimbursed by my secondary insurance over 6 months ago and still have not reimbursed me. I suspect that they hold the money for 6 months to gain interest. I am filing a suit against them in small claims court and am inquiring about a class action suit because I know for a fact that others have had the exact same issue with them

I have had regular dental checkups every six months my entire life. When I moved to Philadelphia I found a new dentist right away, and I unfortunately chose American Dental Concepts. After my cleaning the dentist came in to check and asked how old I was. He acted concerned when I told him my age, telling me my teeth looked much older. I have always received compliments from dentists regarding my healthy teeth, so I was a little surprised. They also recommended I get the "deep cleaning" which was not covered by my insurance. After speaking with friends and neighbors who also used ADC, they were all told they needed a deep cleaning! Thankfully I declined.

I also used "The Orthodontists" which is another company but operates out of their office. In trying to make a very important appointment with the Orthos, I left a message with the Dentists, only to find out the message never got relayed. It is a wonder this place stays in business with so many incompetent scam artists running it!

I also have had numerous problems with American Dental in Deptford, NJ. The front desk is very unprofessional and just plain ignorant. I can't count the number of times that I have been hung up on. I have made a complaint to corporate but still am treated terrible when trying to ask a question or make an appointment.
