Alldrive Canada, located in Calgary and Vancouver, has rented us an RV for 15 days, during the summer.

We had a number of complaints about the RV, and told them the most urgent one by phone right away when we discovered it. They did NOT react. After returning the RV, we told them again about our complaints, and said we wanted compensation for it. They said they needed to consult the headoffice, and would react be email within 2 days. They did not react. We sent them an email again, with all our complaints, and their promise to contact us about it. No reaction. After a reminder, they sent us an email just stating : “We cannot reply until we have the facts from our staff.” After this, everything remained silent, also after several reminders from us.

These were the complaints:

1. The most annoying one was the fact that the heater did NOT function. Later, we saw a disconnected wire on the thermostat and thought this might solve the problem. So, we connected the wire again (with a piece of tape); the thermostat reacted again, and started blowing, but it did NOT give any warm air through it. The conclusion must be, that the heating construction failed altogether. For that reason, we adjusted our trip, so that we avoided the very cold areas of the Rocky Mountains.

2. Furthermore, the sewer hose did not seal completely, which made it a very embarrassing experience to empty the black and grey water, especially when close to other campers.

3. Also the water hose made no proper connection, so connecting to a water tap was out of the question.

4. The van was not clean when we received it

5. The oven didn't heat sufficiently.

6. The window on the rear passengers side would not open, nor would the roof opening.

7. The TV-set didn't work as it should, the remote control didn't even have batteries in it, but on the lid of the box it said that it didn't function anyway, so we didn't bother to check further.

8. The fluid for cleaning the windshield was not refilled.

9. The electricity cable was very short, and we missed an extension cable. Also, something to balance the vehicle in rougher areas would have been appropriate.

10. The storage compartment was leaking, which lead to a wet suitcase, and also wet chairs.

We stated, that as a conclusion, we think that Alldrive has NOT met its legal obligation to meet their part of the rental agreement.

Apparently, Alldrive has paid far less attention to the detailed level of the service to be rendered. The excuse we heard from your contact in Vancouver, that it is high season, is not valid in any way, because we feel that we are entitled to the same service as in any other season. We have paid a high-season price, which should also lead to the same level of service from Alldrive.

We wrote that as a result of everything we mentioned above, we feel that a compensation of $ 500 (five hundred CAN dollars) would be very reasonable.

They never responded to our complaint properly. Also, they refused to pay back our insurance deposit. After that, we filed a complaint at Amvic org. See also our complaint on this site about that.

e are a group of 5 young people from Austria, who wanted to discover some parts of Canada (mostly the area between Vancouver and Calgary) by renting an RV. We finally chose an RV (Deluxe Class C 29’-30’) at Alldrive. The agreed rent was CAD$ 4649,25 for the RV, an additional kilometer package and a loss damage waiver including also a one way fee for the time of 21st of July to 1st of August.

During this trip some problems with the RV occurred which we told Alldrive by phone. One of the main complaints was that the generator was not working correct. Another thing was that the fridge always froze our food because it seemed not to work properly.

When we finally returned the RV We were told to enter the building to talk with Heinz, the apparently responsible person at Calgary. When we told him about our complaints he merely said that we had never booked a generator, that only certain RV's had them in addition and that we were lucky to enjoy a generator for free for a couple of days! But, even if the generator was “for free” we would have to pay the costs for the repair in case we caused a damage.

As far as our problems with the fridge were concerned he told us we should have switched it off. Interestingly he never told us that when phoning him at the Alldrive office. Thus he dismissed us, disappeared in his office and closed the door behind him leaving us with the secretary. At this point it should be mentioned that so far most of our communication with Alldrive had been in German, this being our mother tongue and Alldrive being the company especially advertising their German service. Heinz actually was German and had spoken in German with us.

Since we felt we've been treated in a very unfair and demeaning manner we refused to accept the dismissal and decided to wait and not to sign any final rental agreements until the situation was clarified.
After a couple of minutes he came out again and started to speak in English! We were barely able to follow him, but it turned out he wouldn't have the slightest insight or understanding for our situation and all the bothers we had to go through. He in fact insisted that we now had to leave the building and threatened to call the police. He even threatened us to not offer a transfer to our hotel because this is also “only an additional free service”. So we tried to calm down the situation and left the building, not disregarding to mention that we would go public and not hesitate to get help from third parties as this kind of treatment of tourists and clients is not acceptable.

Interestingly after this day when we tried to reach Heinz in his office he always was in a meeting or not available. After lots of telephone calls and excuses from Alldrive we finally had to leave Canada. Home again we received a fax which told us that there was no reduction of our security deposit and no damages were charged. So we decided to wait for a chargeback of the money. Suddenly after a few weeks a new fax came which tolt us that about the half (!) of our security deposit would be taken away for repairings, not telling us exactly which.

To be informed about the whole story, all our complaints and especially the bad treatment at Alldrive i will attach a document with all the details. Please do not publish the original agreements on the internet. The text can be freely copied.

We at least expected a compensation for our spoiled holiday and the non working RV which we paid a lot of money for. Instead we got a reduction of our security deposit and a very unfriendly treatment at the Alldrive office.

Alldrive / All West RV: DON’T EVER GO WITH THIS COMPANY!

We rented a van at Alldrive in August 2010 (at Langley, where that monstrous Edith works). It was a beautiful RV, but several things were wrong with it (tanks flooded while not even half full, aircondition attached on the roof inside the vehicle was leaking badly (Luckily we didn’t get any electric shocks), the tap was leaking, the table collapsed several times, and the list goes on, and on, and on…

We made a list with all these inconveniences, so that it could be fixed for other people. We also wanted to ask some money back, because we paid alot for that van while many things weren’t functioning properly. We gave Edith the list and asked her to make a deal.. That woman went totally mad. She called us liars, denied that there was anything wrong with the van, said we made it all up, etc. I mean, what kind of person are you? How can she co-run a company? (Now I hear that Alldrive is bankrupt, doesn’t surprise me at all..)

Then the deposit of $1000… Together with another Dutch couple (we are also Dutch), we informed our banks about the situation (ING, also known in Canada) and they would organise an inspection at Alldrive, if we wouldn’t get our deposits back. The four of us called and emailed with Alldrive, claiming to receive our deposits. Alldrive (Doreen this time) went mad, said that they always hold back the money of the deposits for at least a week, so they can pay repairs on the vehicles (does that make any sense?) But finally, after 10 days, we received our deposits! So it’s not impossible, just inform your bank/creditcard company and threat them with inspection. No wonder Alldrive is bankrupt! I heard that they operate under a different name: All West RV. Those scammers have to be stopped!

Same problem, tried to get security deposit back, lots of very friendly excuses, but still no deposit returned. I have lodged a dispute with the credit card company to get the money back. Lets hope I do.
What I don't understand is how this company seems to be getting away with it, why have the credit card companies not withdrawn their merchant status?

We had a 14-day holiday in Canada with a RV from Alldrive Canada. The RV we ordered was unavailable so they could only give us a much smaller type of RV which had a broken tail light, deep scratches down one side, broken bumper, patched up holes on the body and numerous other small faults. Hans? gave us the guided tour, attempting to miss many of the problems. We had to point out scratches and windscreen chips otherwise they wouldn't have been recorded and we would have been charged.
We didn't get as much as an apology before we set out.
On returning the RV, in a much cleaner condition than when we picked it up, we were accused of not emptying the dirty water tanks.
After finally getting the forms signed off we were promised out deposit would be refunded within two to three days. It has now been 20 days and we still await our $1000. We have had every excuse from contacting the wrong department to them only able to refund a maximum amount in any one day and they are busy.
Our next port of call will be Alberta Tourist Board and then the Police.
Avoid Alldrive Canada.

Alldrive Canada – complaints
We are a franco-german couple who rented a camperhome from Alldrive Canada. It seams that there are many complaints about these very unserious company.
We only can say to anyone: Keep away from Alldrive Canada– Evitez la société Alldrive Canada !
Our experience:
We reserved a camperhome from Alldrive Canada in may 2008 on the homepage of this firm. The total amount of the rental price of 3407, 25 $ was immediately charged off from my credit card, however it should have been only a deposit, the rest should have been charged off only four weeks before picking up the car.
We picked up the car at Calgary the 21.07.2008, being surprised that the security deposit of 1000, - $ was immediately charged off from my credit card. The bikes we had reserved for 250, - $ were not on board. Heinz from Alldrive (German speaking) promised us that these amounts would be credited to my card at the end of the journey.
The 31.07.2008 we dropped off the car in Vancouver in perfect state. The final bill and “drop-off” document listed correctly the balance being due to us: 1262, 50 $ for restitution of the security deposit, the missing bikes, including taxes. Nevertheless and in despite of several phone calls (also with Heinz in German) and promises, in despite of e-mails and a registered letter we didn’t see the least cent!
We were tranquilized by the deceiving friendly people of this firm, the German speaking too (Heinz at Calgary, Edith at Vancouver). But we won’t stay quiet. We’ll get our money back! - jreif@free.fr

I rented MotorHome and was charged a deposit of $1, 000. Upon my return of RV I was told that there is a Km charge and Cleaning Charge and Drain charge. I was told that they will refund back the reminder of $810.89 back to my credit card. I have not seen the refund yet. I have emailed them with no reply and I called them and left messages with no reply. I have documents from AllDrive Canada showing the refund of my deposit but they don't care. Please beware of the company they are very tricky people and only nice till you have already rented from them.
