Dr. M Bowes Hamill is an absolute disrespectful, arrogant, rude doctor. He does not care about his patients time and if your appointment is at noon you will be lucky to be seen by this greedy evil punk by 3. To top that off you will get no apology from this entitled self-serving man. He only values his pocketbook, his time, and what he feels might affect him. You are the patient and believe me you may get this jerk to say two words to you as you listen to him talk to his computer about your eyes. Then he rushes out the door, and yes he even forgets he is supposed to be the expert and fails to look at your eyes for himself. He just thinks he is supposed to depend on the nurses findings. What kind of doctor with any sense of being a good and friendly doctor doesn't look at your eyes for himself before taking the word of a nurse that I am sure is lacking the actual insight you might just be paying for. He is a greedy man with no concern for you (the patient) so if you are wondering...Should I go see this Doctor and TRUST him the answer I give you with all my honesty and concern for your best in life regarding your precious vision...the ANSWER is NO! Save you the trouble...this was worth it. Thank You for listening and please do find a Doctor that does take time, concern, and is not a jerk. God Bless You...as you deserve God's Best, and this Man Dr. Hamill is far from that!

Dr. Hamill is outstanding: as an expert, caring, consummate and extraordinary opthamalogic surgeon. He has operated on both my eyes, and has been monitoring my 90+ year old mother’s eyes for years.

I can not imagine Dr. Hamill being anything less than superb.

I don’t know what happened to cause such vitriol, but I know it is not warranted.

I have to disagree. Dr. Hamill is simply amazing. He is a busy doctor because he is excellent. I’ve had two major and successful surgeries with him and think he’s just fabulous. Sorry you had a bad experience but he’s the best. I love his sense of humor — nice to have some humor when you’re dealing with a stressful situation. He displays a lot of self confidence and that is what I want — a surgeon confident in his abilities. I believe he truly shows care and compassion for his patients.

Dr. Hamill has been my ophthalmologist since 1993. He possess the traits that I seek in a physician; recognized skills, driven to succeed, addresses challenges head-on in problem solving, thoroughness, responsiveness, as well as the confidence of a scientist and teacher.
Eye problems are especially anxiety and fear producing. For me, Dr. Hamill has always addressed this appropriately. I don't recall any scheduling issues or long waits associated with my visits or those of my wife. In any case, better to wait if excellent care is sought.

Dr. Hamill has been my eye doctor for over 20 years now. He is one of the most kind and considerate and caring physicians that my family has had the pleasure to deal with. He has performed two cornea surgeries is on me and he has personally followed up and called me after both of them. This year there were some difficulties due to my age and he saw me without extra charge at least 16 more times.

He has worked me in on numerous occasions and in fact is working me in tomorrow because I texted him over the Christmas weekend and he is taking care of me. That makes him number one in my book and my family's book we not only use him we recommend him to others.

Have I ever had to wait? Occasionally, but not that often. Sometimes he gets backed up when he takes extra time with people like me and others that need his help.

As for the attempt by a prior complainer to attempt to belittle Dr. Hamill in regard to his time tenderness or thoughts about others they must be thinking of someone else. I have also called Dr. Hamill on numerous occasions for referrals to other types of physicians when I couldn't get my father in without his help.

We live 150 miles away from his clinic and would drive twice that to see him.

I have been with Dr. Hamill for several years. He performed two surgeries on my eyes. The surgeries were corneal transplants. I researched for several years and tried different doctors in Corpus Christi, San Antonio, and Houston before I decided to use him for my surgery. He is a great doctor and because of that sometimes you have to wait (not always). Would you rather go into an office where there are no patients waiting to see them...that would be a red flag to me...I would walk out ...that would tell me no one wants to see this doctor. You can wait on the best or trust you eyes to someone no one else trusts. Take it from someone who knows, Dr. Hamill is worth the wait. I drive 4 hours because I think he is worth it...my eyes are worth it. Also, I have only had one or two longer than usual waits in all the years I have seen him. He is also caring...after surgery he would call me at the hotel room to check on me. One time I was unhappy with an appointment scheduled and he gave me his cell number because of my long drive so that I could call him if it ever happened again...don't let anyone tell you he doesn't care as that is wrong. I hope this will be helpful to someone who is looking for the right doctor...I know how hard that is to do...been there ...done that myself.
Julie
