Dishonest businessman
I run a photo/video production company. Ali hired one of my photographers for an east indian wedding shoot. He refused to pay the agreed upon amount for their services, and when my photographer objected, he publicly humiliated her and tore up the cheque for the amount he had written.
When she agreed to give him the photos at his store (Japan Camera in West Edmonton Mall), he wasn't there but left instructions for his employee to take the photos without payment, stating that he would pay her later. Refusing to leave the master CDs without payment, my photographer called him. He proceeded to issue threats to her.
Our experience with Ali and Alicats Photography were that they practice business unethically - refusing to sign contracts, publicly humiliating and debasing fellow photographers (which is unprofessional) and not honoring his promises.
Avoid doing business with Ali or Alicats Photography. He primarily shoots East Indian weddings in the Edmonton and Alberta region.
This complaint is not about the quality of photographs, it is about honest and ethical business practices.
When you hire other video and photography professionals, it is your job to ensure that their style matches the needs of the client, and that you communicate the desired style to those who you hire. If their work doesn't appeal to you - don't hire them!
It is a free market and nobody is forced to hire someone who they don't like. But it is unethical and immoral to make verbal contracts which you then deny making, and to publicly humiliate and threaten someone whose work you don't like. Ali's standards of practice are well known in the East Indian community (though his work is not known anywhere else) but he gets many wedding jobs there because he comes cheap. Most people would avoid hiring him if they were aware how he treats his employees, regardless of what they might think of his work.
When Ali Patel abused and threatened my photographer, she offered to give all of the photos directly to the client for free - but Ali forbid it. She shoots in a wide variety of styles - and is happy to prove this to anyone interested in seeing her portfolio. If you are in fact his client and not Ali or one of his associates in disguise, I invite you to deal with my photographer directly.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

I wish I had checked reviews about this man earlier. I hired him for my wedding and needless to say he ruined all my photos. He also kept bad mouthing other photographers and made unpleasent comments about them. I found it very immature and if I had more budget I would never hire MR ALi. when i requested him to fix my photos, he backed out and stopped answering my calls. This man hanged up on me if i tried to call him from different numbers. I paid him the full amount and expected decent product back but i was given crap on the name of photos. I dread the day I hired this man to capture our life. Poor customer service and very unethical person.
The less said about ali, the better it is. Ali is absolutely an UNPROFESSIONAL. He does not really care about what the clients wants, it's only about what he believes is correct. If for some reason the client has some issues with the quality of his work then instead of fixing it, he is just going to insult the client and do nothing about the complaint. I had horrible experience hiring this person as a photographer for an event. I will definitely never recommend him to anyone.
Alicat is the worst photographer or videographer to be hired for any event. The person who is praising about him is probably Ali Patel himself. He is one dishonest, arrogant and rude human being. Please don't make him a part of your beautiful memories. He will ruin them and wont even be try and fix them.
I also had ali as my photographer and videographer.Not only is this man lazy but completely unprofessional and unorganized.
Iv'e had the worst experience with him. I would never hire him for anything ever again nor will i ever refer him. I don't know why he has a company when he's an amateur photographer and videographer. its ridicules that he's still in business. BEWARE he's HONESTLY HORRIBLE!

My wedding was one of the eat indian weddings that Ali hired YOUR photgrapher. After reviewing my pictures I was very ANGRY! Out of the 356 pictures that she shot I only have 12 good ones! I DO NOT call this photograpy at all! Most pictures were blurred, unclear, heas chopped off, feet chopped off, and over exposed!
I am so glad that she only shot the first bit of my wedding. I feel sorry for those people who had her shoot all the pictures for the whole wedding as thier pictures didnt turn out at all! I saw some of them..is that what you like to call photos? Can you tell me how you would feel, not having all of your memories from your wedding in good detail...this is why we hire photograpers!
I am glad that Ali ripper up that cheque. I would not have paid her anything as well...and I know some of the other families personaly that got pictures done by her and they do NOt want to pay Ali for those ### pictures!
As for your comment that Ali is an unfair buisnessman, you should get your facts before you post comments like that to be viewed publicly. Ali is one of the most honest and dependable buisnessman I know! I have been a Ali Cats customer for over 15 years, and not one and mean NEVER has I been unhappy with his work or his companys work for that matter!
And warning people that they should avoid business with the Ali Cats...personaly I would tell people to avoid your company as you have unprofessional/un expierenced photgrapers! All they will do is make you upset by ruining what should be your most memorable pictures.
I just want to say thank you for the unprofessional pictures that YOUR photographer took on my wedding day. These are pictures and memories that I will never be able to recover! I am SO VERY happy that ALI took the rest of my wedding and reception pictures!
