I would like to share this with you as I am tired of getting RIPPED-OFF! These people have not only ripped ME off, but I am sure they have done it to others too! When I went into Alex Optical the first time, there was a woman arguing with a clerk about her lousy glasses. I thought this has got to be her problem... only until I experienced their service for myself, did I see what she had been talking about. Please read on...

I have been to Alex Optical in the Metro Center Mall once before about 3 years ago. At that time, I got ripped off and given frames that I did not select. They told me they would do nothing about it. So I had to wear those glasses I was not happy with for 3 years!

NOW...

Three years later... they are still around. I figured maybe they changed their ways of treating their customers, so I gave them another try. The biggest reason I did so... was because I wanted round frames and the big fashion thing today is square frames. Pretty much everywhere I went, the stores all had nothing but square frames.

So I went back to Alex Optical (4528 East Thomas Road [protected]). I had already gone to an eye doctor for my prescription... so when I went in, I started looking at frames and found a couple that I liked. I sat down with the guy there named JIM, (after waiting a long time as he was the only one there helping people...) and he went thru the process of measuring my eyes for progressive lenses. He then started telling me how he would get me their top of the line lenses' and they were called something like, Ahoya (Brand name). He said they were the thinnest and broadest range lance. Most progressive lens get blurry when you look to the sides.

So I said great! That's what I want. He was going to charge me close to $500 for one pair of glasses! I told him I would never pay that much for one pair when every other store is selling two pair for $350. But he said all the other stores are selling garbage.

They are also a one-hour store though he said he could not get my prescription done until the following late afternoon. But I wanted them, so I paid him $200 down. So when I went back the next afternoon, he just threw my glasses up on the counter and said I need the rest of the monies. Surprised at his actions... I went ahead anyway and gave him my Visa. He charged me the remaining $200.

Now he was thinking I was just going to take these glasses and leave... but I asked don't you fit these for me? He then said Oh... You need that done? I said, Oh my god! Yes... (in confusion)!

So he said ok, come over to the table. He seemed like he was in some hurry, bending the frames with his bare hands and no tools. He bent them a few times and pulls the plastic ear covering half way off the frames so they would fit better. GEEZ! This guy is an idiot! Then he says there ya go! I asked for a case and he acted like "do I have to"... But he gave me one anyway.

Now, I told him that these glasses were making me feel weird and giving me a headache right away and he said oh... just take them home and wear them for a few days... you'll get use to them. So I said ok and left.

I wore these for a few days and Never could I get used to them! I decided to take them into my eye doctor to get his opinion and he told me they were NOT Ahoya lens, that they are an unfamiliar lance and most likely inexpensively made! He found the inscribe on the lens.He said it has a diamond and a number"55" under the diamond. He also said that the prescription is bad and the progressive area in the lens is too low. I know I have to always raise my head to see small type.

HERE IS THE FINAL PUNCH:

So I took these back to Alex Optical and said I want my money back and they told me they couldn't do anything about it and that I would have to talk to the owner. They couldn't get a hold of him, so they said to call tomorrow. I called and the owner was not there. The employee there, told me they had decided NOT to refund my monies!

Now, mind you... They state they have a 30 day money back satisfaction guarantee! But they will not honor it? I told them that the lenses are NOT what I was promised and that the prescription is wrong.

They told me too bad, were not refunding you!

I am going through a process right now with Pearl Vision in Washington State-Seattle area. I have been back twice complaining of severe eye strain and the inability to see from five feet to almost forty feet in front of me. I have my first pair of bifocals but the the distance correction is off. I was told after a sort of re-examination today to give it another two weeks and then come back. (Mind you, I have $1,400 invested in three new pairs of glasses as I type this). I left Pearl Vision after the the optometrist examine my new glasses and handed them back to me smudged with her finger prints all over the lenses - little did I know that included in those smudges were long diagonal scratches insides my brand new lenses - I did not find this out until later tonight when I went to clean the lenses. Not only that, I found small numbers imprinted all over the sides of ALL of the lenses of ALL three glasses that I paid $1400 for! - these are the numbers that are used in the grinding process. How did the doctor not see this when she went to check the lenses for accuracy (and when she went to damage the surface of both lenses on the pair I was wearing!). In other words, the lenses on all three glasses are not completed and is it any wonder I am complaining of eye strain, headaches, blurred vision... etc. I will post back to this saga after I call them again tomorrow.
