I have been using the same number for over 6 years now. All of a sudden, it gets "suspended". When I call up airtel @121 - answer given is that this number belongs to some other name, so no complaint can be entertained from me.

Later on persuading, I have been asked to visit local office.

I am in Bangalore Bannerghatta Road office for over 4 hours - but same situation. All that manager has to say is we have given request, it will take few days to correct it?

I had a important international call, working with international client and at present in very critical project phase. People are already questioning my accessibility. Thanks to Airtel, what a payback/gift for being a LOYAL customer for over six years.

Hi Guys, Did anyone of you managed to get the number back? I am in a similar situation. The Airtel prepaid number I was using for 10+ years whenever I go to India yearly 4 times atleast, it not given to someone else. I have this number attached to my home gas connection, back accounts, aadhar etc. Appreciate if anyone can reply. Thank you in advance.

Same thing happened with me but instead of 6 years make it 10 [censor]ing years. Was away for 4 months from India and they deactivated it.
I complained immediately when it was not making any calls made me wait for 1.5 months to retrieve the number but today just today they have given the number to some one else.
[censor] don't even know what loyalty means. I Hope I can make it a big issue some how [censor] deserve to be boy cotted they could have at least intimated me asked me to pay a fine any thing would have been good for retaining a customer but no they had to go and deactivate it and while request exist for activating the number they had to assign the number to some one else [censor]

I have been using the airtel connection for more than 6 years ; I came abroad for a few months, but kept recharging my number to keep it active, used to receive messages etc while still abroad. Suddenly one day it stopped registering on network, without knowing it got allocated to some one else, I recharged it as well. And later i called up them when i still didn't get the sim connected, only to know that its given to someone else; For a couple of months i wasnt even aware my number was gone and its being used by someone else, I tried to get my OTPs etc in this duration, which might have been received by the other person.

Lots of critical accounts and contacts are linked with that number and it has messed up everything; I don't know how to proceed with; I really wish there is a way out to recover my number . I strongly disagree with them recycling someone's number after deactivation, potential risk of information security is associated with this, which may lead to further serious issues; they should be liable to any issue happens further.

Hi, I am also in the same situation, my number has been given to someone else without my consent. I am in US and I kept number active and re-charged on Jan 30th 2018 and I still received messages until Feb 22nd but suddenly Sim was disconnected and number is activated to someone else on March 3rd 2018. This number is linked to many of may bank accounts and I am in bad situation and there is no positive response from customer care. Are you able to recover your number, any luck with your number ?

Similar thing happened to me...I am now in Australia & realized that it can't register to local network. While trying trouble shooting I called my Airtel number from my local phone, and someone picked up the phone...Can't believe!
