I have just been notified by michael yellin law office stating that the afs loan modification business has now closed their doors and mr. Yellin cannot get in contact with them. I have paid afs money to help with my mortgages that fell behind due to the economy. They helped me with the 1st mortgage (Now i wonder if they did a good job) but now with the second mortgage mr. Yellin said he does not know what will happen cause he cannot get ahold of afs. I am now in the situation of be taken to court with my 2nd mortgage cause nothing has been done about it. Please help me cause i cannot afford to give any more money. Thanks

I also was scammed by this company they had led us to believe that our modification had went through and all was well that was 5/2009 I have been making payments and mailing to an address that was given to me in my loan modification. 3 weeks ago I walk outside and there is a man taking pictures of my house of course I asked why he taking pictures for the Mortgage holder. I went straight to BOA and was informed that they have no record of a modification. I told them it was with CountryWide and since they had taken it over maybe it had got overlooked. But according to them so now they say I owe 42 payments have no record of any of the payments I sent in. SO I am out the initial fee plus 18 months of payments that I have made. Is their anything that can be done?

Funny AFS told me he(Micheal Yellin) pulled the rug out from them I agree they are all scam artists they took my money also but go to your local HUD office they are helping me hopefully they can help all of you! Lets all pray for each other to come out of this on top and never trust loan mod companies again!

It seems to be a popular practice in Cali to be a lawyer and scam people on loan mods. You need to go to the card company asap and file for a reversal. I think visa gives 120 days from the day he wrote the letter to say he wasnt going to do anything for you.

Look here where there is info on who to make a formal complaint to. Dont just take it and or be slow to act. He is a thief not some poor abandoned child as he tries to come across.

These stories are exactly what I have experienced. Yellin sent us an e-mail, detailing the drama with AFS closing its doors, and in the following days, the full voicemails of AFS became disconnected numbers. I had spoken with several people who had actually had contact with my lender twice since we started the process in November. After March, they heard nothing further and I kept getting the run around from the time they told me that Andy had left and that some Rivera guy was now handling my file. My lender is now considering doing a modification for me and I need to find out who, how or where I to go to in order to initiate action agains Yellin AND AFS since they both were responsible for taking our moneys and were supposed to be acting on our behlf to save our home. ANY HELP OUT THERE?

Hi,

I totally agree. It does appear that Yellin had several of these fronts. He is located in LosAngeles and a good number of these offices have shut down. He refuses to return money to anyone. For sure contact the state bar. I filed a complaint and it has gone to stage two. Make a complaint the the Cal Attorney General. They won't handle individual cases, however if they received enough complaints they will sue on behalf of the people. Federal Trade Commison is another avenue, particularly if it is accross state lines.

If nothing else, keep up the pressure. At least have some fun with it.

Finally sue him in civil court. You can get help from legal aid or have a lawyer take the case on a contincency basis.

We have also received notification from Michael Yellin informing us that AFS has closed their doors and he cannot contact them. The money we paid went to the law offices of Michael Yellin - not AFS. Which makes me wonder who the real scam artist is here - AFS or Michael Yellin? We also received a message on our voicemail from AFS since the notice from Michael Yellin. They were requesting our income and banking info again. I don't think I would trust them to take anyting further regardless of what the notice from Michael Yellin suggests - unless they refunded us all the money we have paid them - since Michael Yellin claims he already paid for our services. Even then I don't think I would trust them to handle anything for us. Also, AFS advised us not to speak to our lender if contacted and not to make any payments until the modification has been closed. Because of this we are now further behind then we have ever been before! We are currently working with our lender - for free - on a loan modification. Our lender has informed us that they have not been contacted by anyone from AFS or the law offices of Michael Yellin. I also called Michael Yellin after receiving his notice and his voice mail asks not to leave any messages concerning AFS and that he will give us more info when he gets more info, however I do not wish to receive any more info on AFS - I just want my money back!
