Eclipse software ($4, 000) is court reporting software. I have been on this software for over 20 years. Eclipse, at first, used to have these stupid little "keys" because eclipse is trying to keep court reporters from copying their software. Court reporters are the most honest people i know and 99% are very illiterate when it comes to computers, but greg seely, owner of the company, is scared he is going to lose his company, i guess, and a court reporter is going to copy his software. After 25 years of operation, they decided to go keyless. In the meantime, every reporter who is on their software has to pay over $600 a year for software support to maintain updates; however, if you leave your desktop computer up and running at the same time you are on a job with a laptop, they lock you out with "your license is not authorized for this version of software. " i'm telling reporters out there, do not buy eclipse software! No matter what. I have paid advantage software over $10, 000 in software support over the years and could have bought the software over and over again several times. So, go to other software, i. E, stenograph or digital cat, of which i'm going to also. The software is the same. But advantage has been rude by calling me when i am sitting in a deposition or court to tell me my license is revoked because of overriding, after i have paid $600 for software support, and it is july of the year! Greg seely, i hope you get this complaint, because this has really gotten out of hand! And i am sick of your company! I guess you don't really care because you are sitting on your private island with a cigar and wine in your hand with a "don't care" attitude!

I lost my software keys in the process of moving to a new home and they are not willing to sell me another key. They are making me pay $4,000 for brand new software even though I have the disk and the original receipt. Since having kids, I only take a little bit of work here and there so I'm not making full-time money by any means. So I've been working from a 10-year-old laptop that's falling apart to the point that you can see the computer guts inside and several keys are missing because, by some glitch, this laptop allows me to use it ongoing without a software key. But when this thing finally gives out, most likely in the middle of a job, I'm gonna be screwed.

I have truly happy I found this review. Do not know if things have changed with them in the five years since this review, but I will do a very thorough search on it before I change my software. After 30 years, I am moving to captioning and I was very seriously looking at Eclipse.

I'm a reporter who has just wasted money on Turbo, their "latest thing." Just finished four hours of uninstalling the old system and putting on the new system. Now, at 2:30 a.m., with court starting at 8:30 a.m., because of their terror and anal control of their "keys" and not letting go of some of their Nazi-like control over who can help with said "keys", I am now uninstalling Turbo, and having to put the old system back on, because the $600 a year for support I pay still does not entitle me to after-hours care for "key" issues. This is going to backfire in this case. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau tomorrow afternoon, and Facebook already has been made extremely aware if the massive "key" crap.
