Abella Mayfair unethical behaviour, unauthorized credit card charges

At the beginning of Oct 2016, I saw and ad for a free trial sample of Abella Mayfair's skin care products. I went on the site and ordered, for a shipping charge of $3.95, a sample of the wrinkle control product. Nowhere did I see or tick a box relating to a subscription to this product. During the checkout process, the site kept taking me to different products, with the same offer, which I believe I just passed over. The next day, I got a phone call, telling me that my products were shipped and I would receive them shortly, and they would be charging my credit card the 2 shipping charges. i informed the girl that I did not order the moisture cream and would not expect to see a shipping charge. She said that was fine. A couple weeks later, I received the wrinkle control sample, as well as a moisture cream, and was charged shipping for both. There was no receipt or information in the box to indicate the shipping charges or explanation of any terms or conditions, or how to return or order more product. On Nov 22, I received another shipment and charges to my credit card have been $112.94 on Oct 30, $101.64 on Nov 1, $112.94 on Nov 17 and $89.95 on Nov 19. I called them and they insisted that I signed up for a subscription, which I did not. After a long discussion, they agreed to a $100 customer good will credit, and would credit the remaining charges once I returned the second shipment and provided them with the tracking #, which I also did on Nov 22. They say they have cancelled my account. They have credited my card a total of $202.89 and should be giving me another $214.61 credit. I called them on Nov 29 to discuss, and they told me I was mistaken, and that the original charge of $214.61 could not be refunded. I argued that this was not what I was told, asked for a supervisor, and was told that there was nothing she could do, and wouldn't discuss it any further and hung up on me. This company is reprehensible, and I would like total refunds for all charges. (the remaining $214.61). I will absorb the shipping charges, although I did not agree to the face cream. I would have thought a company owned by a celebrity such as Angelina Jolie would be more ethical, and honourable.

BEWARE! Hidden auto re-order!...so as soon as you ask for you 'free' sample (which is not free!)...you OPT IN for full charges for the products...including your free sample! ~unless you call their customer service to cancel within 14 or 15 days! These companies should be fined and shut down for their disgusting business practices! If the product stood on it own to do what they say it does...this ### sneaky backloading billing would not have to thappen. Shame on all that endorse this scam...Dr OZ?...Dragon's Den?...the product is not what they claim it to be!
Your credit card company will know all about these companies but if you have ordered and not called to cancel you will be stuck with the cost for your first FREE sample costs ($100-$200)...their customer service may give you part back but AbellaMayFair didn't for me...and hung up on me when I asked for a supervisor. STAY AWAY!

Call your credit card company and tell them that this company charged your account fraudulently and request a charge back and lay a complaint.

The credit card company will deal with these scammers quickly.

You credit card company is limited in what they can do...I had a long talk with a wonderful rep at mine and she was unable to do anything about the initial hidden charges because it is listed in their 'Terms'..but once you call and cancel... get the company to send you an email confirmng cancellation (not all will)...or a cancellation number. If get charged after that you can get your credit card company to remove charges! :)

Abella Mayfair abella mayfair maximum moisture and wrinkle control

I have the same complaint as everyone else. There is definitely a trend with this company to mislead and overcharge people for an inferior product. How is that so many peopie missed reading the terms and conditions? I purchased this 'free' trial for $5.33 and $6.68 which turned out to be shipping cost only. Exactly 14 days later from the date of ordering, my credit card was charged $154.96 for the first 'trial' product and $124.75 for the second 'trial' product. I didn't even receive my trial product until 2 days before the 14 day period was up! When I received my credit card statement, there were even more charges ...another $155.77 and $124.75! This was for the next shipment that automatically was sent to me because I had not cancelled within the 14 day trial period! When I called to cancel my membership and ask for an RMA# so that I could return this unopened package, they told me everything 30 days after the initial date of ordering was non-returnable! All they would offer me was a $100 credit on $587.00! The product itself is a 1 ounce container of moisturizer cream and a .5 ounce tube of rapid wrinkle control...what a joke! This company is under different names on my credit card: skinwell london and gorgeous skin. Who knows what other aliases they go by? Underhanded and a total scam. Shame on anyone who is in any way affilliated with Abella Mayfair!

Abella Mayfair wrinkle cream

I paid shipping only of a free product from this company on 06Nov16. On 21Nov16, and 23Nov16 2 charges showed up on my Mastercard. Same as all of the other complaints so far. They will not refund me, although they did say they would refund me $60.00. I have been arguing with them back and forth via email so there is a nice paper trail. Speaking with my bank I am incredibly disappointed. They don't care at all, they did say that because I have in writing that the company has 'cancelled my subscription' (something I NEVER agreed to in the first place) that they can start a dispute process if I am ever charged again. Today I had enough, on phone with bank and demanding they start a dispute process immediately. I feel violated and the fact that my bank will not help me is even more disappointing. They have now started a dispute process, but the girl I speaking with is literally talking to me like I am some halfwit. She is implying by her tone and the way she is speaking to me, that I deserved this because I gave my card info out online.

Abella Mayfair Sales and marketing practices

Regarding my recent experiences with the “Sales and Marketing Practices” of these companies I feel justified in telling as many people as will listen that these companies have one goal! To steal as much money, from as many people as possible, before everyone gets wise and they shutdown. Only they don’t shutdown. . . they just change the name of the company and run the same scam, again and again.

Somewhere in my first days of shock and disbelief at what these companies were able to do to me in less than 30 days.

READ THE REPORTS: One excellent site I found related to this companies business practices is: http://www.complaintsboard.com/abella-mayfair-b125314

The disrespect that I am experiencing as a result of my dealings with these companies is debilitating. How can these companies justify their business practices!

I wrote to the companies and told them that my experience is nothing short of being mugged, electronically. I really do feel like I have been assaulted.

More of the letter . . . an example of the types of people their advertising preys upon with their deceptive advertising and sales practices.

“I’m 63 years old. As I grow older, I look for small ways in which to help me feel good about myself. Sometimes, like all people, I have moments when I would like to give myself a treat . . . I tell myself that I deserve just a small indulgence. I see an advertisement and in a moment of weakness click on the ad. Surely, I can afford this small indulgence. It’s only small samples and it only cost $10 US. I can afford this small indulgence.”

Here I am. A 63 year old women who wants to spend less that $10 US to get a small sample of a seemingly fabulous new product . . . just a little treat to ourselves, a proverbial ‘pat on the back’ for doing a goods days work . . . only to have hundreds of dollars stolen from me.

In their ‘path to success and wealth’ these companies don’t care who they damage. Running the software to automatically distribute product and charge credit cards.

And when you confront them and call them thieves, they curtly explain that they don’t break the law . . .

I see no integrity in how these companies function in the world and personally, I'm sick of it.

Abella Mayfair false advertising

After seeing an ad for free sample for the cost of shipping and handling I ordered their product. I did say while ordering that I did not want further products. I failed to read the fine print of terms and conditions. A couple of weeks later I was charged close to $300 for two tiny samples. After calling several times I got through. I only got a total rend of $100. After arguing.
This company is a scam and uses false advertising.

Abella Mayfair sample abella mayfair

I asked for a sample of Abella Instant Wrinkle. I paid CD $ 11.00 for shippind. Looking at the bill, it had 1 more product (Abella Moisturized). In a week later Abella Mayfair pulled out from my bank account a CD $ 299.20.

Abella Mayfair wrinkle cream

It seems I have the same complaint as everyone else. Is there a trend here with this company to rip people off. How is that so many peopie missed reading the terms and conditions. I purchased this free trial for 5.95 shipping only. When I received my credit card statement, there were charges of 152.00 and 2 weeks later another charge for 155.00. I did receive a second box in the mail but thought it must be an error and was planning on dropping it back in the mail to return. I called the company demanding a refund for both because I never signed up for anything beyond the free trial. I was told that by accepting the free trial, I agreed to pay for it and to continue to receive the product on a monthly basis for 99.00 us funds. I did no such thing. I just went to their website and ordered another free trial and no where in the process did I see this fine print. Of course, I didn't complete the process but I did get to the payment screen without seeing it so it could have been explained after I paid for it. And the outrageous charge for a very tiny tube of cream.. .05 oz. Shame. Somebody needs to do something with this company!

Abella Mayfair false advertising

My complaint mirrors another complaint I just read about this company. When contacted, there was no mention that I would be charged for my free trial once delivered. I was only to be charged for delivery. I received two separate products hence two full charges. One month lather (nov 2106) two more boxes containing face products arrive. Charged again. I have contacted company but terms state no refund.
I believe this is false advertising. Refunds should be allowed if product not opened.

Abella Mayfair still haven't received my order., ordered on august 30 2016

I have been fighting with this company since Aug 30, 2016. I" tried to tell, them that I never heard of this company and whatever I was suppose to have ordered I never got. I realize a charge on my account for 152.14. Didn't know what this was about. So I started investigating on my own as well as with the bank. We came up with Abella Mayfair. I found the phone number for this company and gave them a call. I explained the situation to the and all the lady said was she could only refund me here employee discount which was 63.90 on Oct 4 2016.I informed this person then that I never received any order or product from anyone. I wanted my money back. Today is Oct 29, 2016 and I still have nothing from them. On Monday Oct 31, 2016 I will call them again, I want my money back. The next step will be a lawyer. I have an apt on Monday to speak to my lawyer about this company.

Sincerely
Julie

Abella Mayfair "free sample"

I too have been scammed by this company. I saw the add and it clearly stated that they would send me a free sample for just shipping and handling. I got the sample and saw the shipping and handling charge on my credit statement. A few weeks later I noticed a $142.00 charge from the same company. I called them and they insisted that I checked off a box agreeing to be charged monthly if I didn't return the product within 14 days. There is no way I saw any such thing when I ordered the free sample. This is a total scam, the product is a scam! When I called they immediately offered me a partial refund if I agreed not to dispute the charges, which we all know they are depending on people not hiring a lawyer over $100.00 . Well they are getting very rich by deceiving people! I believe I should be totally refunded as they can not prove I checked some box agreeing to these ridiculous terms and conditions.

Just got off the phone with this company over the same issue. They claim under terms and conditions it states after 14 days if you don't cancel you are the charged full price. What kind of ### is that. They offer a $100 refund which still leaves me out $160. This company needs a visit from a lawyer absaloutly furious. I hope this company gets caught up and eventually fixes their serious issues

I am also one of those people who never fell into this "trial version for shipping fee only" scams until this came... I swear I didn't check off any thing that says about 14 days trial period that I have to cancel as it is an automatic enrollment to their product. I only heard about this when I called them to complain and inquired on the charges. What kind of product offering is would start its 'trial cycle' counter as soon as you 'placed' your order and NOT when you received it? The trials came in 5 days after it was placed, as if the package was express delivered. I then went to check the inserted paper in the package which also didn't even mention anything about the trial period but only savings you will get if you 'call us for another product'.. Too bad my MasterCard cannot do anything about it - seems this scenario didn't fall under 'Fraud'.
This is just one expensive lesson learned on how scam artist can find a way to milk hard-earned money from people.

I just wanted to add here that I was offered a refund of $100.00 that would be taken right away off the approx. $220.00 they charged my credit card if I'd agree on a settlement by sending an email that said 3 words only, "Yes, I agree." I wonder If then that would be a legal binding statement. I said No, but I also said I wanted all my money back. They haven't sent a reply back and I'm sure they won't. The last email was from a Wesley Aragon. When I'd called my credit card company they told me there's nothing they can do. They sent me a dispute letter to fill out.
My bank Mastercard is issued from the National Bank. I asked if I could cancel my card and they told me if I did it doesn't matter because they are legally bound to let this company charge to my account. So, there's nothing we can do to stop it unless we dispute it with out bank and send copies of emails etc. If anyone is wanting to go further into this I would love to be part of this. Maybe we should try to get this on a news show or Dr. Oz ..any other ideas? Better business bureau. There is a facebook page Abella Mayfair Scam...might be worth corresponding with each other.

The US Federal Trade Commission wants to hear complaints like these from you. Contact FTC at www.ftc.gov and they will investigate these fraudsters, guaranteed.

I was also misled with the idea I am going to be receiving a FREE TRIAL for only $3.95. So far they have charged my card CAN$5.41 after I already cancelled my order!. I contacted my card bank and must go in and fill out forms to stop additional charges. I cancelled my order same day after reading these reviews online.

Same complaint as everyone here but I did get them to cancel my account after they charged my Mastercard over $200.00. I wrote a few emails saying I wanted my money back and finally got a response from a Wesley Aragon at almost midnight right after I sent another email. He said they'd give me $100.00US if I sent them an email saying only these words, "Yes, I agree, " Agree to stop bothering them. I couldn't believe his arrogance but what choice did I have. I was so angry I said no. Now I'm out all my money but I'm not going to agree to that which he said was a "settlement." Someone should try to have these products tested because I suspect they are seriously dangerous. I had a severe reaction and their site said no side affects. My eyes swelled so I could hardly see within minutes.reaction. It is obvious this company if a scam, fake and the guy Wesley Aragon is a scam artist. I believe they're doing these trials in many names. If anyone wants to contact me I'm at angeldreams2011@hotmail.ca

Abella Mayfair monthly charges

On August 14th, I ordered what I believed to be a sample of their rapid wrinkle control. It was a tiny .5 oz tube for which I had to pay $5 for shipping. I went out of town and when I returned there was a charge for $114.92 on August 29th. I called the company and was told that I was supposed to cancel within 14 days or would receive product every month for that amount.

I never saw the 14 day cancellation on the website, and certainly not on the shipping confirmations sent to me by the company. I also never received anything aside from that small sample. I was informed by them that I would see the same charge on my September statement.
I asked how they could charge me if I don't get anything. They told me that small sample is the product that goes for $99 plus tax.

Exceptionally misleading! I said I will return the tiny one I was sent. They said no it was final sale. Are you kidding me?

I have only agreed with the shipping cost of &4.99 for the "free trial product", never agreed with over 100 Canadian Dollar for "free trial". When I called them and cancelled whatever account they have with me, they promised to send a copy of so called terms and conditions attached to case, never received it. Never even get the callation confirmation. I wonder if we can all united and nail this company down. It's nasty, unethical and disgusting to do business in such a way. How many people is going to lose money? Where the government can step in? When the credit company will support us?

We saw BELL as a survey online. The screen immediately went to the sample offering which we agreed to pay only the shipping and handling. We also then got charged that excessive $100 amount approximately on our credit card. We received a box and immediately put "return to sender" and dropped it at the post office. We cancelled with the company and of course were told we ordered it so it is not possible. (### and more ###) We have reported this to the credit card company. They received back from the company proof that we ordered it online to which we say NO and it is misleading...all the places they say we odered from online or checked off.

We have been credited from the credit card company. We have reported it the bank who faxed in our filled out explanation of this scam. DO NOT PAY THIS: REFUSE TO PAY THE CREDIT CARD CHARGE.

What a scam! I asked the representative on the phone when I was ordering several times that if I cancel my order within 14 days will I be charged anything and do I need to return any of the bottles to be refunded. The representative assured me on 4 seperate occasions that I would not be charged anything and I would not need to return any of the bottles. Now they are telling me I need to return the products or pay two fees of $19.95 US. Considering I am not in the country it is impossible for me to return the products. The representative on the phone clearly lied to me. I bet they earn commission for each sale which gives them the incentive to lie for this bull#### company.

Hi,

I am writing this information for a friend that only speaks French. He has ordered a cream as advertised a sample of 10$ and after 14 days of reception of the cream he was charged 2 * 150$ CAN. He called them up and they still charged him another 2 * 150$ again.

After about 600$ of charges he called them up again but since he is French, he had a hard time to talk with them but they finally said they will refund him 80$ USD which comes up to about 110$ CAD. And they stated they will close his account but problem is...he is till 490$ for 4 little .5 oz tube that he is allergic with.

This is just so bad. I though we were protected with this type of marketing campain ? Canada is a country where people are protected...well that is what I though. Will the US accept this type of issue ?

Ok well my friend is serious and is going to see a lawyer for advise but will certainly take action in small claim court.

Abella Mayfair...don't do business with them even if the product is good. Biotherm or Lancome is much better and never does some marketing like this where it is misleading, they do not need to as they have excellent products.

Abella Mayfair abella mayfair trial

At the beginning of the month, Sept. 2016, I saw an online ad for a anti wrinkling cream that seemed to be endorsed by Chrstie Brinkly. For only the price of shipping, they promised a trial size of the lotion. It sounded good, so I signed up. When ordering, they presented me with the option to subscribe for a regular size monthly shipment at $100, which I made sure I unchecked before submitting the order. Also agreed to ordering one of the upsells for another trial size for the price of shipping only, another lotion, which again I made sure to uncheck the option of subcribing to their monthly shipments.

The trail sizes arrived in the mail in about a week. Atiny package that fit in my mail box actually. And for it, I was charged abotu $10 US. That's fine, no biggie

However, a few days ago, I checked out my online Walmart MasterCard statement and I noticed a couple of strange charges that added up to $200 US. The names ofthe merchant was similar to the one that charged me for the trial shipment for the lotion. I called up MasterCard and they told me to contact the merchant directly, giving me the number, with an area code in Nevada.

I called them up, the girl sounded like she was expecting what I had to say, and right away, started giving me a line about being my responsability to cancel before the 14 days run out, and didn't acknoledge at all the fact that I had indicated off teh very start I did agree to a subscription. After a while, she finally agreed to cancel the subscription, however no mention of the $200 charge already on my card. So I said "well, it's great that you cancelled the subsciption, but I expect a full refund on the $200 already charged since I haven't received any product either in return. All I have received is the tiny trial sizes." At this point, she countered right away, which shows that this is how they operate and it is part of their script, that she will do me a favor and use her employee discount for me and give me a 50% off discount. At this point, I laughed and said no, i expect a full refund, so she pretty much hanged up on me

I called up MasterCard, and the guy that picked up the phone was actually uncooperative at first, and tried to tell me I should call the merchant. Only after I insisted, and said that I want to initiate a chargeback, did he agree to escalate it and file a dispute. Then he told me I wil be called back by their dispute department, a clal which I still am waiting for 2 days later

Any advice?

There is nothing in thier so called lame terms of agreement that states non receipt of goods will not be refunded.
They are crooks ...
How can so many consumers be so wrong ? We are not all gullible or stupid . (We are totally pissed off).
Simply put, the business is a fraud. With misleading advertising, theft and embezzlement of my funds

THIS IS A SCAM, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. You have to be consistent and bug them everyday with an email for a reply. State that you have a 30 day return period as stated in their website. Show them the URL as well. http://abellamayfair.com/terms/ I had the same problem with 2 products in one order. I emailed them immediately when I saw $151.xx CAD (approx. $112USD) posted on my credit card online website. The rep quickly replied that they had cancelled my monthly subscriptions (2 products, each about $99 USD) - which would start 30 day after the $112USD was billed to my credit card. The rep stayed silent about my request to return and full refund the 2 unopened products. I thanked them for cancellation my monthly subscriptions and re-stressed that I wanted to return and full refund of $112USD. The rep next replied that they would refund me $40USD as I agreed with them on their support line. I replied that I never talked to anyone and told them explicitly it was a FASLE statement and asked them to show proof e.g. time, day, duration and content of my call. Next a manager offered me $50 USD refund for each product therefore $50USD x 2 in total asking me to agree. Before I agreed the $100USD refund, I asked them to confirm $112USD they charged on my credit card was for 2 products. Another rep replied that they forgot to charge me the second product. Thus they would only refund me $50USD and allowed me to keep the second product free. I was so annoyed that they had played a trick on me. Image the scenario that had I accepted $100USD refund and subsequently they would charge me whatever sum they forgot to charge me on the second product. What a dirty trick. I pointed this out to them straightway - they lied about I agreeing a $40USD refund, then tricked me with $100USD with subsequent unknown charge for the second product, and then re-offered $50USD refund and even dared to say offering me a free product to keep. I restated my position that I wam sticking to their 30 day return rule. I would not allow the deadline to pass me so they could keep all the money. I said I would raise a dispute with my credit card company with this series of emails with them if they did not reply within a day. At the end, the gave up on me, agreed to refund $112USD. Gave me a RMA and return P.O.Box address in North York, Toronto. I sent them 2 images of the products with shrink wrap intact to prove unopened products, and my return parcel with Canada Post Xpresspost Tracking number and their RMA# on the box. They then sent me an email that $112USD has been processed and would appear in my credit card in 2 to 4 business days. The $112USD finally refunded to my credit card 3 days later. What a farce and lots of hassle to get my money back on a free trial which is not free at all. Stay clear from Aballa Mayfair.

These people are bad. Order their samples on prepaid $10 credit cards and they will not be able to scam you further. I went through the same bullcrap where they offered me $80 refund of the 200 they charged for their useless products. They were rude and uncooperative. Their money back guarantee is a piece of crap. Do not order their samples unless you do it with a prepaid credit card!

Hi there,

I just went through a similar situation with Abella Mayfair. Like the experience you had, the person I contacted was really fast to answer about terms and conditions policy. I settled the situation for a 50$ refund, but I'm trying right now to see if any kind of other action can be taken toward this company. While speaking with my credit card agent, she informed me that there were a lot of people that got scammed by this company. That would help a lot to inform the population about this fraudulent behavior.
