Abbotts Frozen Custard claims its a family place. But read this and decide if it is safe for your family/children/grandchildren. When my girlfriend and I went for Ice Cream there were a number of characters chatting with the female staff, but not buying anything. Once they noticed my girlfriend they decided to attack us, because she wouldn't give them the time of day. After the episode, I demanded the staff call 911, they refused- I assume trying to protect their friends. I called myself from a different location.
I called corporate to complain. They informed me that they were once in a gang, and that this should be tolerated. I told them no it should not. After some back and forth, she said they weren't going to do anything, and that her boss the marketing manager was really busy. What could be more important than ensuring the safety of customers and preserving your brand.
I called back again and they tried to deny the whole event happened. FYI: The police investigated and one 18 year old was convicted in a court of law for his role. It is a fact. But I think it is also clear that Abbotts Frozen Custard is more concerned with taking people's money than their safety. I also think it is not a family place, and it is dangerous for families and small children. Apparently, they also promote the thug life, believing its ok to hire questionable people, and have their customers attacked.
As for me, I won't miss their fake ice-cream.
