5/3 Bank / horrible service

I have had a horrible experience with Fifth Third and would only recommend them as a last option. My experience began with them 3 years ago. A year into our relationship their business advisors informed me of business option they could offer me to help facilitate my international business. Six months later I had two German clients ready to utilize this option using two different well known and respected German banks. Fifth Third's incompetent employees lied to me and a VP called me telling me that they could not provide the service. What!? It cost my firm $20, 000 and two large clients. This was the biggest shortcoming and most important. On an everyday basis that any user can and probably will experience:

1) An ATM that reported paying out $400 when nothing was paid out. The camera and money count can confirm it. I immediately tried calling but there is no one that can help you until Monday. What!? Monday I was informed it was a common problem with that ATM. It took 1 week for them to correct it. Not next day. Top notch service.

2) Two ATMs at one bank and both not working. Top not service again.

3) Teller is not fluent in English. Asked to have a certified check made out to Diana xxxxxxx. Was asked to write it down. I sad it is five letters. And slowly sad each clearly with proper enunciation. She still did not understand. I am first generation so I understand the difficulties for immigrants and make a point of being open minded and helpful. This to me is unacceptable for someone in her position. This is America and such inability is unacceptable unless we want this country to degrade.

4) $3500 check deposit from a company whose check is deposited twice a month. Three days later took out $500 and was informed $3000 was available by ATM receipt. Fourth day went in to office to withdraw $2000. Was first informed manager's computer was not working properly so had to call other office. Other office computer was not working properly so they could not read the check. Then manager tells me that I had to wait another week for check to clear. What!?

It is sadly becoming common knowledge that checks can bounce a year out.

I have never seen worse service from a bank.

These are personal experiences over several years.

If you want to deal with such problems, incompetence, and inconveniences then risk your money with this bank. Otherwise I recommend you avoid this firm at all costs.

I have been banking at the same institution for the past 30 years and was making a deposit when the teller asked me for identification. What is wrong with this picture? However in the winter I bank at the Palm Habror Fl. branch and the people are great.

Requested $200.00 from 5/3 ATM located in Chesterton, Indiana and a fee of $20.00 was requested, I believe this "highway robbery". Would you please explain what is going on, or his this normal operating practice. I, am geting very discussed with 5/3, having over six figures with your bank, I would think that I would be treated better. In this little town of 11, 000 people and a total of 14 banks you would expect better service from 5/3.
Being with this bank since 1978 and going throught all the changes over the years I would expect better.

I have been banking with 5/3Th bank for 5 years and haven't had any problems. Until July 2008 when there were strange charges on my account. I notified the bank right away. I want through everything on my account one by one which charges were mine and which were not. Than I was told that I couldn't dispute the electric checks, because they had the routing number and account number so I must have given it to them. After fighting with them I decided it would be best to close this account. So on Sept 11, 2008 I closed this account and opened a new one. I hadn't hared anything until Nov. 2008 .When I received a letter from 5/3 Th bank. They said that my account was over drawn $1, 400. I was very angry since this account was closed. 5/3Th also took money out of my other accounts to put into this account. I went to the bank to discuss . I had to file everything again since the person I was dealing with no longer work there.I explained that how can be charge for an account which was close 2 months ago. They side that the account can be open again if there is active. I told them I close the account because of identity theft . I have not hared anything until I want to open a new account at an other bank. 5/3Th put me on ChexSystems for an account which had 1, 00 in when I closed it. My new account is overdrawn due to overdraft fee. This bank has bad customer service .I want to change banks. Patricia A Luster Chicago Il

Your all correct they are stealing from hard working Americans. If you don't do something now you will be getting a rate hike of around another dollar or two per overdraft. 35-37.00 will be put through as the new charge. Join the others who gave almost 40 billion dollars last year to the banks. Who is in the right!
