I have been in the above station frequently. While the employees do not know me by name, my face is surely familiar. On Friday, March 14th at approximately 6:10 I stopped to fill my car up with gas. Unfortunately and unbeknownst to me when I tried to pay by debit card I had insufficient funds. When I tried to work the situation out with the persons who were working in the station, they rejected all of my attempts and said they would call the police if I did not pay and left the premises. As I have frequently stopped at this station I was shocked by the treatment that I was given. I could have given them all of the information from my driver's license and I had called my wife so that she could give her credit card number. In stead, my wife had to drive 40 miles to swipe her credit card.
While I must take responsibility for not having sufficient funds in my account, I still feel that the treatment that I was given was hostile and inappropriate. I have been a member of the business community for 20 some odd years. Surely I am not the first person who has had this or a similar experience. While what the employees did was legal I feel that it was totally inappropriate in terms of how another human being should have been treated. Subsequently, my wife had stopped at some gas stations to ask how they would have treated the same situation. Uniformly, she was told that they would take down the information on the person's driver's license and give them 24-48 hours to pay the bill. It is disturbing, humiliating, and enraging how this situation was handled.
This same gas station repeatedly allow my alcoholic husband to charge my debit card for alcohol and we don't even have the same last name. Moreover, the bank allows the charges to go through when my funds are insufficient. They should refund the charges along with the bank fees.
I completely agree with Ira, I mean, to forget to pay your bill, and for the cashier not to do something that was against the law, I would never show my face there again if some cashier whom I didn't know was not willing to bend the law! Wouldn't you? HaHa
skimped
steven raped you haha
So you don't have money to pay your bill and it's their fault? You call them rude because they need to protect themselves?
Does your business allow people to leave questionable information with no ability to collect on it after? If so I want to shop there and spend alot of someone else's money.
I agree with the gas station attendants. I work retail and we do not ever take a credit card over the phone. How would those clerks know the card was not stolen? You say that it's not, but don't you think that would be the same things the crooks would say? Basically, all the employees can do is deal with what is there. I have had times where a customer's card would not swipe and they ask you to type it in. And it will be a guy with a card with a girl's name on it. So, I tell them, I'm sorry I can't take this, it is not your card. They get all mad, but what do they expect.
Point being, it is unfortunate that your wife had to go so far, but don't blame the gas station because you couldn't pay.
