Coldwell Banker Real Estate I sold my house on my own and paid a commission

I hired Coldwell Banker to sell my house|. After a very minimum amount of showings I had a offer|. From that point on there was no contact from my realtor that got 16, 500 dollars for about maybe two hours work at the most?. Guess I'm in the wrong buisness but I believe in customer service!. I had to contact the buyer to get any info including closing date and time, even that is when they needed to back up and get their money|. If you ever think about Lewisburg WV watch out". No service from Coldwell Banker in this area". In my opion buy a sign that says For Sale By Owner and save that 6% of your hard earned money, because once you sign the contract you are own your own.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate stay away from this one

I received a call from a man named Ryan Nolan on 4-10-09, claiming to be a fireman at the Berkeley Fire Department. Selling an Ad that was to be distributed in all local towns for a magnetic card with all important local phone numbers. He said the Ad contract would be for two years at a cost of $650.00 which he wanted me to pay then by credit card. He said he obtained my name from Realtor.com and I was the only Realtor he was calling in the area. When I replied that I would confirm this Ad with the Fire Department Chief who happens to be my client he got defensive. I am notifying our local Board of Realtors of this apparent scam.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate new home

let me first start off by saying I will never deal with this company again. My wife and I were in the market to buy a new home and after calling coldwell banker we spoke with the loan officer and discussed our needs. He ran our credit and found a foreclosure on my wifes credit history, we informed him that it was due to her ex-husband forclosing on his home sevral years after divorcing and the courts awarding the home to him (in which he never took her off of the note) the loan officer said "as long as you have it in the decree where he is awarded the house you will be ok" well after going through the process, we found a house, signed a letter of intent, gave $500.00 (non-refundable) deposit. went through the whole 9 yards. Gave notice to vacate in our current home. ... well the day before closing we were told that we could not close and it was still in underwriting. well 2 days before we have to move out of our current home we are now told that we have been declined for a loan... and our current home has now been leased and new tenants are moving in two days after we move out... they have no concern as to where we will end up living. I can officially say my family and i are homeless due to this. HOW can this happen?

let me first start by saying i will never go to coldwell banker again... my wife and I are in the market to buy a new home, and after contacting coldwell they run our credit and find a forclosure on my wifes account in which we explain it is from her first marriage where in the divorce the house is awarded to him where he forcloses 3 years later. the loan officer says that is not a problem as long as you can prove it was awarded to her ex. so we provide the divorce decree and we go on with the loan, we give $500.00 deposit and provide a notice to vacate in our current home. all seems to be going well coldwell provides a "letter of intent" well a day before we close we are told that there are problems with our loan, we go on for days and back and forth waiting and more waiting. we have expressed the need to rush becasue we now have to be out of our home in a matter of days and cannot extend our lease because it has already been leased to a new couple. well now it is 2 days before we have to move out and are being told that we have been delclined our loan. ...HOW can this happen? I thought they had reviewed all of our information before approving our loan and sending the builder a letter of intent? I have told them that now my wife and family are now HOMELESS! They didnt even blink, again How can this happen?

Coldwell Banker Real Estate ruined carpet due to agent negligence

While on vacation, our agent, Cathy Thibeault, had an open house. No one showed. She closed the closet doors where there were 2 very obvious litter boxes. She claimed not to have seen them. For 8 days the cats was forced to urinate and defacate on one of the bedroom carpets. At no time did Cathy Thibeault, take responsibilty only denying culpability. She attemted to clean herself twice but after sitting untreated so long, the smell remains. She asked us to get a quote. $685. She originally said she would pay for 1/2 but when she received the quote, she terminated our contract and said she was not going to pay anything, it was not her fault. DO NOT USE COLDWELL BANKER. They are negligent and iresponsible. I will be contacting the regional VP. I have contacted BBB as well as Commissioner of Realty.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate lou wallace - stay away - rude - dishonest agent

**PLEASE READ**
Recently, our family inquired about a home for lease at 7042 Partridge Pl, Carlsbad, CA. We are currently relocating to the San Diego area and the stress of finding a home is great enough without having to deal with unprofessional, inconsiderate, and incompetent individuals that claim to be ethical real estate agents.

Although the lease amount - $3500 a month - was more than we wanted to spend, we like the Aviara area, and chose to pursue the listing anyway. We initially attempted to contact the listing agent - Lou Wallace - by leaving him several messages on his phone. We explained that we were interested in the home and that time was of the essence. We were in town for the weekend and really needed to get inside the VACANT property so we could make a decision. Our phone message went unanswered until the next day, at which point we had already left the area.

During the week, we again attempted to contact Lou Wallace so we could set up a firm appointment the following weekend to see the house. After several non-responsive phone calls, we finally managed to connect. We already felt as though this individual was somewhat "flaky, " but because of our desperate situation, we needed to see the house and potentially lock up the lease. We set up a definitive time of 3pm on Sat, Mar 27. We were to meet at the lease property. The agent clearly knew that we were traveling a long distance (2.5 hr drive) to see the home.

At 2.45pm on Sat, we called Lou to tell him that we were in route and that MAYBE we were going to be 10 minutes late due to traffic. As usual, his phone went to voice mail. Nevertheless, we arrived at the property at 3:05pm, basically on time. Lou Wallace was nowhere to be seen. We called 4 or 5 times, with each attempt going to voice mail and with no response. Frustrated and disappointed, we finally decided to leave. We were shocked that we drove all that way just to be stood up.

The next day Lou Wallace had the audacity to call us. He stated that he didn't get his voice mail until Sunday morning. All 5 of them. What a big fat liar. Regardless, he had our number the whole time, obviously, because he called us. Moreover, he had not anticipated the fact that we were NOT late since we arrived at 3:05pm, and proceeded to tell us that he waited until 3:10pm. The bottom line; he was not there. Even if he was, common courtesy in ANY professional field would have been to call us and at least, ask if we were OK. The fact that he knew we were traveling 2.5 hrs to meet him and didn't show up is incomprehensible. Additionally, after we informed him that we would file a formal complaint, he began yelling at us, and then claimed that there was nothing we could do about his rude behavior and that, basically, we deserved it.

To conclude, we spoke to other agents in the Carlsbad area who all said the same thing, "STAY AWAY FROM THAT GUY." with those exact words. Please do yourself a favor. This guy is a real jerk, and I cannot believe Coldwell Banker allows this to go on without any consequences for their agents' bad behavior. The sad thing is that we are leasing for a year and then we are in the market for a million dollar home. Too bad CB will not get the chance to represent us in this transaction.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate poor representation by agent

My husband and I put our house on the market in July. The commission charge is 6%. Since we are the ones paying her we are the ones she is supposed to represent. In a way she is our employee. She did great at first. Several showings, several open houses, etc. She was very poor at responding to calls and emails however. In December a couple new to the area contacted her to see the house. They loved it and made an offer. At that point EVERYTHING turned. Instead of representing us, the seller, who are the ones paying her, she began to bend to the whims and wishes of the buyers. In the offer there was mention of us paying $3, 000 of the closing costs...I wonder who suggested that to first time buyers...? Anyhow, my husband and I are moving to Florida and driving down. Because of that it was agreed that the closing would be on the 28th, and then he and I could be off. Last night at 5pm we got an email from the agent stating that the closing is now Thursday 27th. We still don't know what time it will be. The buyers repeatedly asked for the 27th in the afternoon as a closing date and we kept saying no, it was already set for the 28th. We have the movers in place to come on a certain date and then the following day the carpet cleaners were going to clean the carpets (as part of the contract) and I was going to scrub bathrooms, kitchen, floors, etc. Now we are going to be in breach of contract because we cannot get the carpets cleaned because they agent gave them their way and changed the closing date (but still hasn't told us what time). There is much more to this story, but there is no point in going on since we are stuck now anyway. Chances are, because of this, we are going to be driving to Florida in the middle of the night. Basically the agent stopped REPRESENTING US and began REPRESNTING THEM...even though they aren't paying her. Interstate moves involve a lot of planning and the change of a date, even by one day, can really mess things up. Thanks to our agent, that is what we are dealing with now. The 12 hour difference the buyer wants is so small in comparison to the trouble it is putting us through. Be warned, your agent can stop keeping your interests in mind and do WHATEVER the buyers want just to make a buck.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate lease provisions

Cheryl A. Johnson is unethical, cost us a great deal of lost time and effort. Showed us a house rental, had us go through extraordinary amount of paperwork and background checks(we paid for, all fine), upped the counteroffer we had made that had already been accepted and then stalled to the last moment to deliver a contract that had all sorts of terms and conditions that were NEVER mentioned to us. When our attorney experienced in Real Estate reviewed the lease and listed terms that were not applicable or were not to be included, and we questioned these Condo Association type of rules for a house, she simply decided to cancel the entire transaction- and we were to move in the next day! The "contract" her lawyers were to draw up resulted in some pre-existing contract that she said could not be changed in the least bit, not even in that which did not apply. Refused to include that which did apply. Most worrisome, clause of quarterly inspections(?)and right to enter at any time! Cheryl A. Johnson is sly, misleading, very vague when asked questions, demands a huge amount of personal information, all in vain. Beware!

Coldwell Banker Real Estate incompetent agent

In Aug. 2010, I was insulted by one of the agents at Coldwell Banker Wallace and Wallace. I was just trying to speak to her regarding a commercial listing. She used foul language and said "f...you... on the telephone! I was appalled. I was never so humiliated in my life; and especially be a person that claims to be a "professional". She had no business cursing me on the telephone and I am not going to tolerate her behavior. I have reported her to the TN Real Estate Commission for their review. The commission states "there is nothing they can do". Well, I think that this real estate agent should be reprimanded for using foul language and insulting people on the phone! I will never recommend anyone to use Coldwell Banker for their real estate needs! I spoke to the office manager but I suspect that he is sticking up for the agent with the foul mouth!

Don’t be fooled by the fancy name!

I have never had such a negative experience from start to finish as I did with these clowns. If you don’t mind being consistently treated in a demeaning, condescending manner, like a presumed criminal, then rent your property here. From the lease signing until the end when they keep your security deposits by itemizing normal wear and tear and preexisting damage, you will feel like you’re dealing with a group of slum lords with a fancy name.

When it comes to repairs and service, they are generally difficult and unpleasant, and poorly responsive. Even if you pay your rent on time and take great care of the property, you will always feel they are expecting you to behave like trash, and they treat you accordingly.

Ironically, given how strict and detailed the lease contract is, they failed to uphold their end of it when it came to the stated time frame for returning my deposits. It ultimately didn’t matter, since they found a way to keep most of it anyway.

Bottom line, if you have decent credit and other options, steer clear of this big rip off company (each office is reported as independently operated, so there may be variability with different locations; this was the Northshore branch I dealt with, but go look at all the complaints against CB nationally and it may be that they manage to maintain a consistently low level of customer satisfaction). There are plenty of honest realtors who will rent to professionals and treat you with respect and fairness, as well as provide good service and value you as a renter. If you don’t have other options, or are finding it hard to avoid them because of their size and share of the rental market, at least be prepared for what to expect and approach every step of the process carefully to protect yourself. Take pictures and report every tiniest blemish when you move in, because they will try to use your deposits to upgrade the owner's property when you move out.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate scamed me out of security deposit

I rented an apartment from Coldwell Banker Commercial Funkhouser Realtors in Harrisonburg, VA and paid them a hefty security deposit before moving into the apartment. I left the apt in great shape (they even said so) but because of their scam fees (like enourmous 'routine system maintaince fee' and 'key fee' that they charge even when you return your key and leave your place without any need for maintainence) I got practically nothing back from them, though I was led to believe that I would get my deposit back. Their accountant does some fancy footwork to make sure no tenants get their deposits back! DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!

Coldwell Banker Real Estate really poor service and communication

I am contacting concerning business that was recently done through one of your agents. I was referred to Jim Wolfe by the Dave Ramsey show in November 2009. My wife and I retained Jim in order to complete a short sale on our home. It is now September 2010. There was an offer and short negotiations up until February. There has been a poor and lack of communication and not much has been done to complete the short sale. The mortgage company told me that there was a lack of communication and the agent told me that they were lying. At this point I definitely believe the Mortgage company. I am pretty much in limbo and have been since February 2010. My wife and I were left wondering and guessing. This is not a good situation when it comes to my home. My over all concern is that this is my home and I did not receive the best service and I feel that my situation was made to be unimportant. I am not sure when and if my home will go into foreclosure. I have contacted the agent various times in order to get an update. At this point I do not know what else to do. All I asked for was communication. If the deal could not be done then it would have been nice to be told so. I am considering hiring and attorney but thought I would contact your offices in the mean time.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate desiree cornelio

On May 12th 2009 our mother died in her sleep. My older brother and I were named by our mother to be co-executor of her estate.
We opened the estate.

In August of 2009 we held an estate/yard sale to liquidate household items. During the sale we were approached by Desiree Cornelio. She told us she worked for Coldwell Banker (901 N. Congress Ave. Boynton Beach, FL. [protected].
After some discussion we signed a 6 month contract with her.

In November she came up with a buyer. After some negotiation we came up with a selling price. The house was set to close prior to December 24th. It was then moved to the end of December. Then it was changed to January 2010.

Since that time we have had at least 5 closing dates come and go. When I would ask our agent (D. Cornelio) the only answer she would give was “There was a problem with the paper work.” She finally offered to give me the underwriters name and number.
Since about the middle of February we have been dealing with at Fairway Mortgage Inc. (2499 Glades Rd. Suite 304 Boca Raton, FL. 33431). [protected].

Of all the people we have been dealing with they have been the most helpful and provided insight that should have given by our agent.

The lender is Freedom Mortgage Corp. in N.J. From what I keep being told they keep asking for more and or new documents to be filled out. They have ordered the house to be inspected at least twice and reappraised at least twice.

During this process we have not been able to look for other buyers and now the property value has dropped at least $40, 000.00.

On 9-4-2010 we finally closed. Even at the closing our agents office still did not go smooth. It was delayed over 2 hours. Instead of an apology the office staff implied we she be grateful they stayed open after closing time to complete the sale.

When we tried to get the manager involved months ago he gave us the run around. Although wour contract with Coldwell had expired [protected] we still had to pay over $3, 000.00 to our agent that did nothing more than list the house.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate dislike women or what???

In Johnstown, PA a Coldwell Banker Realtor and the Seller made my first homebuying experience a memorable one to say the least. Keep in mind that the Realtor was a "dual agent" (suppose to be working for the seller and buyer).

I had a Home Inspection done and had a concern regarding the electrical work. So a friend of mine made an appointment with his electrician to take a look at the electric work in the house to ease any concerns I might have. I contacted the Realtor (from work) and was instantly interrogated as to why would I want an electrician to look at the house. Then I was asked for the electrician's phone#. I replied that I didn't have the phone# and that my friend set up the appointment. The realtor got irate and said he wanted the # just in case he got a flat tire and needed to cancel the appointment. I again explained to the Realtor that my friend made the appt and if something happened and he (Realtor) could not make it he could call me and I would pass on the message to my friend. He then seemed like it made a difference that I was going to be there when the electrician came to look at the electrician.

That's not all...After I got home from work, the realtor called again and said that the seller " was tired of people walking through his house!" and the realtor agreed with him. Once again, the realtor questioned my reason to have an electrician look at the electrical work. The realtor and seller had a problem with me receiving peace of mind. I was paying for it, not them, right?

Bottom line, I DID exercise "MY RIGHT" to have an electrician look at the house before I bought it and was very pleased at the electrician's findings and advise. I would think twice (or more) before considering using Coldwell Banker as your realtor and I DEFINITELY WOULD NOT, again, WOULD NOT use a so called "dual agent". A dual agent looks out for him or herself and that's it.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate agent fraud

Recently we tried to shortsale our house with a Coldwell agent. He tried every sneaky move to make the most out of this deal & finally the bank denied the loan for the buyer, because our agent worked with a loan agent that was doing illegal stuff & the bank found out.
My problem is now that we are trying to change our agent, the coldwell agent wont release our files saying we had signed a one year contract with them to list the house (which is not TRUE, he never disclosed these policies with us) & the reason the deal didnt go thru was because him & the loan agent (he chose) worked to get extra rebate from the lending bank without letting us know, resulting in loan denial from the buyers lender.

You must lodge a complaint with the California Board of Realtors, and I would also alert the California Attorney General. If this realty agent is doing this to you, he is doing it to others and will continue to do so until his license is revoked.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate illegal eviction tactics

ING Direct committed a fraudulent foreclosure on my property. As I was in court litigating the fact that the bank committed multiple disclosure violations, and working to get the loan reinstated thru court action, they convinced Thomas Ogle from Coldwell Banker to commit a crime by having him break into our home and change the locks while we were away. This slimy "realtor", Thomas Ogle, know the property was in litigation, and he know the bank was barred from doing an eviction action thru court. He took it upon himself to skip any notice to vacate/unlawful detainer(eviction) process, and just lock us out of our home. He also illegal convinced our HOA company to not let us in our gated community! Yes the house was in the banks name, but due to pending litigation, the bank couldn't do an eviction to get possession. There needs to be writ of possession issued by the court in order to force us to leave. But this lying, cheating, ### of a realtor has managed to con everyone, cops included, into thinking he has the power to break in and change the locks while the homeowner is away! A criminal complaint will be filed, and this guy, along with whatever bank officer, is going to be behind bars.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate poor service

I had a very awkward and unusual experience with this agent. He was briefly nice at first when I requested information on a house that I thought he was the listing agent for. When he found out that we hadn't decided on a permanent agent for our family yet and that I wasn't going to automatically chose him, he became unhelpful, rude, and aggressive. It was very odd behavior and made us feel very uncomfortable. His actions appeared very self-serving and implied a strong sense of entitlement without the concept of earning someone's business. Very Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with his surprising and fluctuating mood swing. We decided to steer very clear of him.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate agent incompetence

Total incompetence on the part of this agency. If I help even one person steer clear of them, then it will help me sleep at night. They will do absolutely nothing to help you, then smile and tell you they are doing everything to help. Our agent couldn't even read a contract, I had to do it and explain what the contract meant. Do yourself a favor and find another realtor.

I completely agree! The selling realtor threatened that if we did not pay her a higher comission, that she would make the deal fall through---even though she messed up numberous times along the way. She cost us tens of thousands of dollars (causing us to lose a really low interest rate by dragging her feet), and the branch VP actually told me that they don't do title searches. Our own broker found a $130, 000 second mortgage on the house, thank God, before we signed the papers. They were terrible! Then, they placed bills in our name 3 months before we even purchased the house, so by the time we bought the house, we were being sent overdue bills, with late fees! The branch VP told me "this is protocol." Wow!

Coldwell Banker Real Estate 1300 dollar loss in repairs

Coldwell Banker: Florida Moves is completely non-responsive around customer service. In fact, they asked that I don't even contact them directly anymore. They have a realtor working for them that is sneaky and deceptive. The realtor who in this case was the rep for the seller hired a roofer to repair our home. She hired a non-qualified person that didn't repair the roof correctly and after we moved in there was a major leak into our garage. This was a "contracted" repair. After we gave them a chance to come out and fix the roof again, the roofer was a no show and nowhere to be found. This was a personal contact of the realtors. Once we were forced to repair the roof ourselves for 1300. Florida Moves in Longwood told us they will retain a "vigorous lawyer" to defend their position and not offer to pay any portion of our loss. Do not use them to sell your home or purchase a home they are listing.

Coldwell Banker Real Estate hasrassment

This agent (Terry McCorthey) has no respect for her neighbors or their right to peace and privacy. Ms. McCourtney is a lonely unbalanced individual who likes to incite people to get attention in her life. She claims that my dogs bark all the time. She came running out of her duplex to push in my face that she recored my dogs barking for 45mins. She is so crazy that she claps her hands and screams in the driveway and shouts shut up just to get them to bark. She claims to be a nice person and she screams at me and my kids and threatened to have them taken away by social services. The tenants in the duplex next to her all end up moving out because she would harass them relentlessly, and would tell them things like where to place thier TV so she would not be brothered by the noise. She would leave harassing letters and call the landlord (Mrs. Joseph Hammer) and claim the new teants are making to much noise. All of the female tenants were not allowed to wear highheels in their own duplex, and she would throw books and bang the walls because of the noise. She would call the police when the new tenants would have company and complain it was to loud. My family has owned the property next to her for 31 years, compared to her being here for 18 years, and she tells us that we need to move. She would often boast to us and her close friends how she uses her influence as a real estate to go on people's property to do what ever she wanted. She has been on a private, prestigious, gated community behind our homes, to harrass the owners and their servants to complain about their dogs. She would then tell the gate guard, that she has real estate business there and that he has no right to stop her, and to mind his own business, which is a clear misuse of her real estate agent priveleges. What kind of an agent would be so blatantly dishonest, abusive, and totally unprofessional to disturb the peace and quiet, as well as violate the property owner's rights. We also know of many times when Ms. McCourtney would have an open house for one of her client's homes, and would go ballistic during the open house, and scare away prospective buyers, because she did not like the people's ethnicity, and that she felt that they did not deserve to live in the area, which is clearly racial descrimination. We have been to arbitration with this person, and have followed the arbitrater's instructions to the letter, but Ms. McCourtney continues to behave any way she pleases, and ignores the arbitrater's instructions. We have gone out of our way to accomodate Ms. McCourtney as much as we could, and she still goes out of her way to cause us trouble, when the other neighbors have said that our family is one of the quietest, and nicest neighbors on the street. We have pleaded with Ms. MCCourtney's propert owner, and have gotten absolutely no help from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hammer when it comes to Ms. McCourtney's disruptive and abusive behavior toward the neighborhood. We are told that she has never given them any trouble, and that she is a very good tenant, and that we are the ones that are having the issues with Ms. McCourtney. We have documented files on her outrageous behavior, as well as verbal testimony from all of the previous tenants that were driven away by Ms. McCourtney. What more can we do to resolve this most stressful, frustating, and very unplesant matter?
