Cohen's Fashion Optical middletown ny location overcharging customers

My husband and I went for our annual exams yesterday, 1/27/19. We each have Davis Vision and EyeMed Insurances. After picking out our frames and lenses, our bill was over $250 just for his glasses. We picked the frames from the "free" frames for Davis Vision Customers. After he questioned this, they said that's what our plan provides and we can submit our invoice for review to our provider.

Today my husband called Davis. Upon reviewing our bill, Davis said it should have only been $105. My husband called the Middletown Store and "Ryan" told him he'd look into it. 4 hours later he calls back and tells my husband it is what it is and that they're not a direct provider for Davis. They advertise Davis Vision! When further questioned, Ryan told my husband he was a crazy person. What kind of way is this to speak to a customer?

My next step is to cancel our order entirely and go elsewhere. This is no way to treat a customer. The staff there is clearly not trained in customer service.

The desired resolution here is to have our bill adjusted according to our optical plan - not the plan they conveniently made up at the store so the clerks can get higher commission.

Please call me so I can get this resolved. Risa Himaras - [protected] or Bill Himaras, [protected]

So after a discussion with Chrissy in the Customer Complaint Department, she said she was going to reach out to this "Ryan" guy and call me back - oh, and also call my husband back. CRICKETS! Then, if you call the Corporate Number listed on the web, you get a "Robin" who says there's nobody to speak to. How does this Company run their business? No corporate office? What a bunch of idiots.

Cohen's Fashion Optical transition lenses and new frames

Good day, My name is Monique Coleman, I went in your store to purchase new frames and get new lenses, after spending over $500 on my purchase I went home with my new Marc Jacob frames. The frames were defective and my glasses fell off my face, they were missing gold slot that holds frames together. I went back to your store in Jersey City (Newport Mall) to show the girls what happened, she told me she was going to get a replacement and tightened my frames. The frames are loose again and I called to inquire when will my frames become available. They told me 3-5 days its been 7 and now they are telling me I will have to wait another week for my frames. This is not acceptable and inconsiderate to me as a customer. I spent a lot of money and I would like for better service, there are so many Cohen why couldn't they check another store. I believe they forgot to put my order in and now they are telling me they are having a problem at the manufacturer. VERY ANGRY CUSTOMER. I can be reached at [protected]

Cohen's Fashion Optical lenses that were put into my frames.

I purchased lenses to the amount of $439.00. I had no line bifocals and transition also put in which did contribute to the high price of the lenses. I had a three year old frame(Oakley) that I wanted the lenses put into. It is a 1/2 frame with the fishing line for the bottom.
Yes, I did purchase them 5/5/2017. Yes, I did JUST notice the pittedness in the corners where the fishing string was tied. I only where the glasses when I golf and I can only golf: May, June, July and August. I only golf once a week so that meant I wore these glasses 16 times last year and so far this year-8 times. They are my second pair just for outside. I did not notice the lenses had glass missing, my friend did. I took them back to the store, located at The Crystal Mall in Waterford, CT. They let me know that my warranty had expired and there was nothing they could do to replace them. I mentioned to them that 2 other doctors places lenses in that exact frame without any breakage. They did not care. I never got a copy of the warranty when I purchased the lenses and I could not locate their warranty on their website to their Waterford, CT store.

Cohen's Fashion Optical glasses/script

Cohen's Fashion Optical on Orchard Street NY NY.
Got script for glasses 2 'xs and it was bad at the reading bi-focal .
They agreed it was wrongly made the first time. I just went back to the Manager Yana who is useless! Before I came in I called, they told me to come it on Monday to speak with Yana. I wanted a full return, She refused to take off the $40.00 plus what they charged my insurance.
Yana said she WILL CHARGE my Insurance regardless for the my glasses I wanted to return !
Really?
Isn't this FRAUD?
They did not offer to screen these glasses to see if they were correct.
BAD Service as a Manager and just inept glass maker guy who works there too. He also had weird energy.
I will need to go to my regular Dr. to see if they made a mistake in Script- which I think is true since it is blurry .
Stay Away from this Down-Low business who do not treat you as a human being just a cash sign. I am reporting them to my Insurance Co. and Better Business Bureau.

Cohen's Fashion Optical cohens optical 18 park pl, new york, ny 10007

To whom it may concern, I am reaching out because there was an incident involving a staff member from your company named Tia located at 18 Park Pl, New York, NY 10007. She contacted our office on 3/15/18 at 2:23 pm to request a patients information, at our office to protect the privacy of our patients we request for a release form signed by the patient from any office to be faxed to our office authorizing us to release their personal information/records. After explaining that Ms. Tia was annoyed at what we were explaining to her. She then proceeds to say very aggressively and with an attitude " you guys are the only people that gives us a hard time, I called you 3 different times." At this point Tia was being very rude and unprofessional and told us that we have to call the patient and explain to the patient what we explained to her because she was not going to do it and it was "b[censor]t". At that point we asked Ms. Tia for her name the phone number and fax to the office which she provided. I then called back to try to talk to Ms. Tia to ask her why that conversation escalated the way it did, I also told her it was very unprofessional of her to call another place of business being rude and using profanity being that she is a representation of the company she works for. She was laughing at me as I was speaking at that point I decided to end the phone call. I hope that this matter is addressed due to the unprofessional-ism of that phone call. If you need to contact me you can do so at the contact information listed below.

Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,

Cohen's Fashion Optical cohen optical on church avenue brooklyn

I am very disappointed in the service or lack thereof that I received today. I phoned in to the office located on church Ave in Brooklyn, which is up the block from me. I have been a loyal customer for years. My family and I thought this was a wise choice since it's in the neighborhood. Well, last night I called in to see the optomologist and was informed that there were no openings available. The receptionist sugggest that I come in between 10am And 3pm today. I arrived at 12pm. I sat until 2pm to be told I could not be seen until all the scheduled patients are seen. If this is the policy, why didn't the young lady schedule me an appoint for today. I'm having a medical emergency and this is the treatment I received. Shame on Cohens Optical. I will no longer patronize your company. This is why neighborhood families choose to go else where. When you try to deal with your neighbors, you get the bad end of the deal. My time is just as valuable as yours and for that I choose to take my business elsewhere. I'm a very disappointed and upset patient who had to leave in the same condition I came in with no results two hours later.

Cohen's Fashion Optical eyeglasses

Hi,

Friday last week(12/1/2017) I had my eye exam at Cohen's Jersey City. I ordered "Danny Gooey" frame and fiber lens. Saturday I called them and informed there is no price match of what I was told and in online. This frame which I ordered is half one forth of the price online to the price I was told in store.

I demand for price comparison with the market and reduce in what I have been charged. I haven't collected the glasses yet.

Below is the link of Danny Gooey frames online. Please see the price range. I am serious about it and would like to see through this issue before I approach any consumer affairs person.

Thanks,

Cohen's Fashion Optical complaining about cohen optical freehold raceway mall.

My complaint is about your Freehold raceway mall store in Freehold NJ.
My issues with this store are many, my first visit was ok although the regular doctor was out, therefore I was seen by a visiting doctor who as it turned out gave me an incorrect prescription. I only found out after having my prescription filled at a different eyeglass store mainly because I didn't like anything they had in the store, this is when my experience with this store became horrible.
I returned to the Freehold store and right off the bat I was ignored by Steve the salesman after finally getting his attention I was told go sit down and wait to be called, after abou 20 minutes I finally got to see the doctor. As I tried to explain to Dr. Needleman what had happened I could immediately tell that he was not happy about having to redo my exam, It took about 45 minutes of trying to convince him that the prescription was incorrect, during this time I was talked down to and made to feel like an [censor]. He also constantly repeated that he didn't understand what I was talking about and what DO YOU WANT me to do. Very simply I was asking that he redo the exam. finally he agreed. Having had my eyes checked in the past by a doctor who does not participate in my new medical plan, I tried to explain what my previous doctor did at my last exam, at which time I was told, why are you here? Go back to your other doctor. As far as I can tell this is not the proper way to speak to a patient. After redoing the exam he agreed that my last exam was done in incorrectly and that the prescription was wrong, he also agreed that I would need to redo my glasses, again these glass were not purchased thru Cohen. My next question to Dr. Needlman was being that the prescription was wrong who is responsible for redoing my glasses. His response was that he would talk to Steve about replacing the lenses, I guess Steve refused to replace the lenses because the next step was for the doctor to ask me to put the glasses back on at which time he began physically moving my head around with his hands to try to adjust the angle of the glasses to find out if a change in the angle would make me see better. The change in angle did improve my vision a bit but still not good. Next Dr. Needlman told me that they did not need to change the lenses and that Steve would only have to adjust the angle, mind you I was already told the prescription was incorrect, "how bending the glasses to match my vision is the correct way to fix the problem is beyond me" at this point Steve took my glasses to readjust them at which time I was told that they were not responsible for any damage that might occur. Steve made the first adjustment and without asking if it helped he pulled the glasses off my face and made another change, this time putting the glasses back on me himself while they were still hot from the adjustment process, I made a comment that they were too hot and they were burning my ears at which time he rudely pulled the glasses of my face and threw them on the counter saying ok we'll wait here for them to cool off, while the glasses were on the counter I noticed that one of the arms were bent badly and commented that he had ruined them, with this comment Steve got extreamly nasty and began yelling loudly "now get out and don't come back, go back where you come from and where you belong". Being Egyptian and having and accent this comment upset me at which time I began to cry, I would like to think that this is not an acceptable way to speak to anybody let alone a customer, this to me is harasment! After all this and the new exam and prescription, I was given a new set of contact lenses which again where not correct. Long story short I went back to my original doctor and paid out of pocket to finally get my vision corrected!

Cohen's Fashion Optical eye exam & store help

Do not use them as them as they do not know what they are doing. Otherwise, they are intentionally trying to screw the Customer.

I went for an Eye exam and the Doctor did a fine job. The help (lets call him Rob) was giving me a runaround to try and sell me a pair of glasses. I questioned my prescription that I was about to walk out with only to be berated and told that's what the Doctor found. I forced him to double check the prescription he transposed from the Doctor to find he made a mistake and I was leaving with a bad prescription. He said it was a good thing that I had him check. I can tell you that I am an Engineer and that's the only reason I questioned and pushed the issue (quite aggressively as he was very pushy and non-helpful). My guess is 9 out of 10 would have walked out with a bad prescription after paying there fee.

Cohen's Fashion Optical cancelling my appointments

I obtained vision coverage through my employer and called this company in Shirley, New York because it's right in my Town. I made an appointment a month ago because I need reading glasses very much so. I explained to the employee over the phone the insurance that I have and that I don't plan going much over my allowance from my coverage. She told me I can finance the extra cost, etc. I said again, I only need reading glasses and I will not be going much over my allowance. I received a phone call minutes before my appointment telling me the Doctor is sick. My appointment was cancelled and I was told I couldn't be seen until New Years Eve. So I waited. I was getting ready for my second appointment this morning when I received a call stating that the Doctor had an emergency and my appointment needed to be rescheduled again. I declined the rescheduling. I do believe that this is due to my not planning on spending a lot of money there. I read other complaints about this business at this location and all I can say is, Shame On Them! Very unprofessional.

Cohen's Fashion Optical they gave me wrong lenses

I recently went to Cohens Fashion Optical. I wanted to leave my frame and change the lenses. The doctor prescribed me one. I spoke with this company’s manager and he said that I would get discount, because of the coupon, which I got. So, in result I got wrong lenses and the manager blamed me. I need new lenses and I would need to pay whole sum, but there was no my fault at all. The manager lied.

I went to the Cohen's in Staten Island. Worst customer service experience in my entire life. The first pair glasses were made wrong. the prescription was made incorrectly in the right eye. They checked in there and admitted that the tech made a mistake on my prescription. I was going to ask for a refund right there but they suggested I try progressives which I never had. I chose another frame because I really did not like the way the glasses looked. I went to get another prescription. when I came back I tried on the frames to get them fitted and they were not the ones I ordered. They looked different. The CS rep said the manager thought I would not like the display, and and sold my glasses to someone else! She ordered the wrong ones. One of the SC women looked through the book and treated me tersely. She gave me the prices and kept changing the prices as I asked questions, and stated the reason was because the book was not updated. On one of my "visits" I heard some of the girls mocking my age. I decided to have them put the lenses in the glasses I did not like because they said I had thirty days to return them if progressives did not work. I called corporate to get a "store credit" and the manager there denied my request stating I had made numerous changes and she would not grand me the store credit. After I sent a letter detailing these events, she sent another e-mail stating that she would call me that day because my request was being reviewed and she never called me back. She sent two subsequent e-mails stating that she would "definitely" get back to me "tomorrow" It has been three days and she never called me back. I will go back requesting a full refund of my money. if they deny my request the next move is small claims court. I spent hundreds of dollars there.

Cohen's Fashion Optical lack of service

I purchased glasses from these people back in feb of 2015, i thought nothing of i at the time as i needed glasses and was told they were reputable little did i know. Since feb i have been back frequently to get adjustments as these lenses are too heavy and doesnt seem like they were made right and they tend to give me a headache due to he weight on my nose. I contacted cohens to let them know i was displeased, they suggested i see someone else in the store for an adjustment. She was a headache by itself. She was rude, unprofessional and tightened my glasses so much i cant wear them. It took her 45 min to adjust them i dont think she knew what she was doing in the first place, even though she claimed she did. was doubtful! This is a horror of a company to deal with, i want an exchange at this point. I will never waste a single dime with them again.Taking to their customer service is also a challenge, they simply dont care.

Cohen's Fashion Optical overcharging, lying thieves!

Overcharging liars! I would give ZERO stars if that were an option. They charged me a "sitting fee" of $35 'in addition' to the standard exam fee. I was given a hard time about not wanting to order my contacts from them and was told that they would "match the price of 1-800-contacts" if I did. I was also told that I could return the contacts if changed my mind because they were a different contact than I had used in the past and was hesitant to try. When I went to pick up the contacts, I was overcharged by another $60.00 ($30.00 per box) and was told they WOULD NOT match the price of 1-800-contacts; because of this I requested a refund and it was flat out refused. I called the corporate office twice and they still will not give me refund; they offered me a "coupon". Why? So they can rip me off a third time?! Nope not happening! CROOKS!

Cohen's Fashion Optical disgrace of establishment

Cohen's Optical has to be the worst experience ever - Hylan Blvd - There are no words to ever describe the staff and their behavior.

The manager Steve appears to be professional and will patronize you to no end to make you think he is sincere but at the end of the day he is just as horrific as his staff. I made an appointment on 2/22/15 and they recommended me to go with progressive lenses so I did so. I went back the following week to pick up the glasses and the old man river said "I don't have the case and I'm not following off a ladder for you". I called the next day to advise them the prescription appears to be incorrect. I go in the following Saturday to find out that they gave me the wrong prescription and told me I needed a second pair of glasses, with a new prescription, just for reading. I was so upset at that point I just agreed and had to pay out of pocket. My expense was $500 for the first pair and I had to leave a $90 deposit for the second. This gets better: I went back the following Saturday 3/8/15 to speak with the manager, Steve. I explained that I didn't understand why I needed a 2nd pair of glasses, that just defeats the purpose of progressive lenses! He agreed and then had me re-take the eye exam which showed that my distance is actually a lot worse than the prescription! He then agreed to refund me the $90 for the second pair of glasses (WHICH HE NEVER DID) and said he will fix my progressive lenses. I called the following Saturday, 3/15/15 and asked if the glasses were ready and a "saleswoman" (the devil) states "No they are not ready, you where just here on Saturday and we didn't send them out until Monday". Out this point I am outraged, I asked to speak with Steve and yet again he wasn't available. I got off the phone and I was literally devastated. On Monday I called my insurance to tell them what happened, needless to say, they didn't have a claim on file. Now to add insult to injury, I found out they overcharged me for the Progressive lenses and I have been robbed without a gun. I then called the store with my insurance company on the line, and the old man river hung up me... I went in on Saturday 3/29/15 to go get my glasses to find out that the lenses still were wrong! I then again asked for Steve to find out that he again, wasn't available... Saleswoman (the devil) rudely stated "he's off and he's entitled to vacation".. I asked her multiple times to get him on the phone so she finally did, with an attitude. Steve didn't pick up (surprise there!) Since they overcharged me for the frames and lenses and I received no help, I called my credit card company and explained to them what happened and now they are handling the dispute between Cohen and myself. I am going to get my money back. DO NOT EVER USE THEM THEY ARE THIEVES THEY MAKE CRIMINALS LOOK LIKE SAINTS. Oh one more thing, the case that came with my $500 glasses was broken! STAY AWAY!

Cohen's Fashion Optical customer service

Although I provided proof that the Dr there gave me the wrong prescription to begin with, the store refused to replace my lenses for free. I explained to them that I was out on maternity leave and just got back to work. I didn't have to wear the glasses when I am at home so I didn't realize that I had the wrong prescription until 5 months later. And even though I explained I was in and out of the hospital and didn't get a chance to go back to the store until now they still refused, citing store policy of 30 days exchange. I've been a customer there for over 10 years and I just bought 2 complete pairs of glasses from them that cost over $700. Never again willI come back to this store. Horrible customer servce. I will not recommend this store to anyone!

Cohen's Fashion Optical horrible service

Unfriendly people who act like they don't give a damn. Was trying to get attention to look at a couple pair of glasses. But the babes behind the counter were busy chit-chatting away about their weekend plans. One "salesperson" was so scantilly clad that her cleavage was hanging out of her top! (This is a sales representative? She looked more like a fugitive from a bawdy house.) I walked out in disgust and went downstairs to Lenscrafters, where they seemed a bit more helpful. My advice: Stay away. Cohen's is obviously making so much money that they just don't care.

Went to Cohen's in Jensen Beach, FL in January for new glasses, was happy since they were going to order the frames I wanted and I was told that they could do the lense shape that I wanted. I've been there before and had gotten my last two Dolce & Gabbana frameless' there so I "trusted" them. I knew job would take about a month, but that was alright.
The first time my glasses came in it was mid February, they gave them to me to inspect and wanted to speak to a manager right away. Not only was the lense shape different than what was discussed, but one lense was 2mm narrower than the other horizontally and the other was 2mm wider vertically. So the said they would redo it.
The second time my glasses came in it was in mid March. this time the lenses were the perfect shape and thickness, but unfortunately one lense was smaller all the way around than the other. to make matters worse the psycho I had to deal with argued with me because I would take them with me while they reordered my lenses to wear since her arguement was even though the lenses are messed up the new frames look better than the broken ones I was wearing. Eventually she finally got the point that I wasn't taking them until they were done right through her thick skull after I said it for the 100th time.
So, once again, my glasses come in (for the 3rd time and is now mid-March) and although it was as bad as the others one lense was still noticably different that the other. I ended up having to take them since the glasses I had, had fallen apart and these were tolerable...but asked for the store managers card. Called the store manager and met with him, he said he had no idea any of this happpened and tried to fix them. Since my old glasses were laid to rest already, he said he'll order the lenses cut them, then call me in to swap them out. Three days later and 2.5 hours taken out of my life sitting there and they were still not right, possibly worse than before...so he says that he'll reorder the whole thing and make sure they get done right.
So, TODAY, the new frames come in and I speak to the manager and he says they're ready for me to look at. I ask him if he looked at the and if they're done right and he couldn't give me a straight answer, so I told him I'd be there shortly. I arrive 15 minutes later and ask for him, they tell me he left. I told the guy that I had just gotten off the phone with him 15 minutes ago, but they claim he had an emergency...figures. They bring me the new frames and it's worse... the top of one was wavy, and the guy that was "helping" me had an attitude because I said I was pissed. Like this ### didn't know what I have been going through for the last 4 months, honestly if I wasn't for the fact that I was wearing my company shirt and have an image to uphold, he would have definitely had a reason to say I had an attitude, or better yet call me a flaming ###.
So far, my mom is spreading the word around her office, church, and friend to take thier business elsewhere. I've turned my whole company away from using thier services and thier telling thier friends and family also. One co-worker who was following my ordeal said that she used to always go thier with her family, but after hearing all that I was going through she decided to go somewhere else for new specs for herself and husband, and they look pretty great...so I may go there next time.

Ive worked in a similar retail enironment and they most likely pinned you as the LensCrafters" type, and intentionally ignored you. It's a good thing you left though. You saved yourself the embarrassment of showing your "sticker shock" face when you find out the actual price of their boutique style eyewear.

So finally I spoke with Sharon at the Corporate center for Cohen's Fashion Optical and she was very helpful and we came to a positive agreement to help resolve the issue I was having at the Jensen Beach store. So I am willing to retract my negative review that I've originally posted since they were willing to meet my needs.

After the second set of unsatisfactory glasses, you should have asked for refund and shopped elsewhere.

Cohen's Fashion Optical discriminated against due to medicaid ins.

I was given (literally) a 2-minute exam by the doctor. It was the shortest/worst exam I've ever received. When I asked the woman who handles the insurance (office manager?) why it was so short she replied, "It's because you have Medicaid. The doctor can't be bothered with spending time with you because he gets paid so much more with private insurance."
This is DISCRIMINATION! My health insurance provider pays less, so I'm worth less? They were very rude and cold about the situation. I contacted my insurance company to let them know about the service I received.

DO NOT go to Cohen's Fashion Optical under ANY circumstances!

Cohen's Fashion Optical worst experience - wrong prescription, worst customer service

I went to Cohen's Fashion Optical on July 1st to get a new pair of glasses. I had a coupon that I was hoping to use and thought they had good service as they are a well known brand. I gave my glasses to someone to take the prescription of off and they assigned me a salesperson. From the beginning she was pushy and not very helpful. She was trying to deal with me and another customer at the same time and was going back and forth btwn us. After trying on some glasses I narrowed it down but couldn't decide. I tried telling her I would come back. She kept pushing. We negotiated a price for the glasses but I still was unsure. I took my credit card out but had not said yes and she took my card and charged it. Immediately I knew I did not want the glasses and asked her to reverse the charge (I had not signed the cc slip). Instead she kept taking out more and more pairs of glasses and getting everyone in the store to tell me which looked better on me. It was so overwhelming I had a panic attack. I finally signed the slip just to get out of there. I figured I would have glasses any way.

I was called on July 7th to pick up my glasses. I went in on the 8th at 6:30. When I walked in and said I was there to pick them up I was rudely asked if anyone called me. Yes, in fact, they had. I was handed the glasses, not asked if they fit or anything and basically expected to leave. I tried them on and could tell the prescription was off. I asked the woman who helped me originally about it and she said they would be fixed by the 11th. I asked her again if I could just have my money back. She told me that I would need to speak to the owner/manager. He seemingly did not believe that the prescription was wrong so he tookthem himself. When he came back he told me that both lenses were wrong and to sit down as he fixed them (originally I was told only the left lense was wrong). I waited and waited. At 7:20 I asked to speak to him (so I could tell him I would come back). The woman came back and said he'd told me I'd have to wait. When he gave me the glasses back finally I again said they did not seem right. I asked for my money back and said that I had never had anyone pressure and bully me like the people at that store. I told him I'd had a panic attack they were so aggressive. I was told I was "some kind of actress" and that the reason I couldn't see in the glasses must be "all the pills [I] was on." Shocked does not begin to describe how I felt. I took my glasses and walked out.

The next day I took my glasses to my usual place and had them check the prescription. I was told they were so far off it was unbelieveable. He had no idea what they had done to those glasses. I can't believe that this store (Cohen's) could send people out with the wrong prescription- and be so ugly and rude and aggressive on top of it.

I am in the process of reporting this store to corporate, the Better Business Bureau and my credit card company. I have told everyone I know to avoid them and their horrible business practices!

Cohen's Fashion Optical poor product/service

I have never been so outrageously overcharged in my life. I have optical insurance and yet I paid over $600 for a pair of glasses and sunglasses. I was told I had a "special prescription" that required thinner lenses which would cost extra. Even the optometrist was trying to sell me extras that I "should" have added to my lenses. It took twice as long as quoted to receive my glasses. Then the sunglasses I ordered were so barely tinted they were totally useless in the sun. The clerk admitted that the material used to make my "special" thin lenses didn't "absorb" color well. Apparently prior to buying glasses I was supposed to research production materials to request they not use inferior material to produce my glasses. After complaining they offered to remake the sunglass lenses out of the superior polycarbonate material without charge. If you must have their so called designer sunglasses make sure you ask what each individual charge will be. Perhaps it's coincidence, or evidence of the inferior quality of the glasses but these lenses smudge horribly. Never have I cleaned my glasses four or five times a day, until now. Stay clear of this company
