Clear Rate Communications phone service (landline)

They called my brother over the phone promising a cheaper deal
than Century Link if he agreed to switch the service. The phone bill
turned out not cheaper, so he called to cancel the service. And they wanted him to pay around $170 which included more than $ 100 penalty for breaking 1 year agreement. This was not told when they called him to ask him switch
the service. Is there a way for him not to pay the penalty.

Clear Rate Communications service at residential home

My mothers phone has been out for a week. Called on the 21st of february, to report my phone out. My mother takes care of my grandmother who is 94 years old. She has a cell phone that gets no service in her area. So, if she had a emergency, she would not be able to call 911. Clear rate stated that it was guaranteed to be fixed by march 2nd. Two weeks! I stated that the phone did not receive, incoming, outgoing calls, & static. The young lady that took my complaint on the 21st stated that she would be escalating the work order. On saturday, february 24th, the phone has not been repair, so I called clear rate again, to report the problem again, devon who is a representative, answered my call the 1st time, I stated that it was an emergency that mothers phone be fixed asap. He stated that it was guaranteed for the 2nd of march. He stated that he couldn't get anybody out there. Everyone was on other jobs. I stated that someone needed to get out there and take care of this ongoing problem. He stated that he couldn't do that. I stated that I wanted to speak with a manager above him. He stated that he was the highest manager there. I told him that I wanted to speak to someone above him. I asked him for a badge number, or employee id#. He said, no. I was upset, very upset. I told him that it was ridiculous on how long customers had to wait for a problem to be fixed. Like I said, I was upset. The worse thing to do is to hang up on a customer. Soooo, I called back, guess who I got? Devon! Well again, we went through everything again, tried to keep calm, but it didn't work. Soooo, he hung up on me again. Soooo, I called back and received another representative by the name of jannel,, I stated that I wanted to speak with a manager above her, she stated that she was the highest manager there. How can there be two managers there in the same department and nobody there above them? I tried to stay calm, I explained the problem again. Of course it didn't go well. Same thing, of course she stated that it was only static reported. I told her that the young lady who took my complaint on the 21st didn't put all the information in her computer I guess. Same thing, I told jannel, that just because i'm not in front of her that doesn't mean its not urgent. I explained everything. Again, she stated nothing can be done. I stated that if something happened to my mother or grandmother while they had no phone service, I would sue everyone involved. It was explained that, if it was her parents or devon's parents, it would have been taken care that day. Jannel, stated that was not correct. They don't get any service like that for themselves or relatives. No special treatment. I don't believe that at all. Every business offers discounts for employee's. Or some kind of special treatment. I explained that my mother was in an area that gets flooded, then jannel stated that could a reason why it hasn't been fixed yet. Tried to explain to her that my mother was in a area that gets flooded or when the water gets high because of all the rain we have been receiving and she has no phone service and something happened to them, I would sue the entire company. She stated that, the water could be the reason for the delay. I stated to her that the water was up on thursday, but been's this is saturday the water is down. She wasn't understanding the urgency. All she could do is laugh, I asked her if she thinks its funny to her. That is the worst thing ever, laughing at a terrifying situation. Not that it would happen, its the idea that anything can happen at any moment. When its someone else voicing their concerns, other people are laughing thinking it couldn't happen to them or their family. Well, again I was hung up on, by jannel. I am going to tell you that I wasn't not pleasant at all. I did not call them names, I was trying to tell them the urgency of the problem.

Clear Rate Communications hijacking phone service

My elderly father took a phone call from someone who asked if he wanted to save money on his Verizon bill. The person continued to talk and switched him to multiple "agents". My father told the callers that he doesn't pay the phone bill. The caller asked if the phone was in his home. He said it was and he didn't pay for the phone service. Next thing we know we get a bill from Clear Rate. Both of my parents are unable to handle their affairs. Clear Rate was billing monthly, which my brother was paying since they advertised a charge of $39.99 a month. Then, they were sending threatening letters to my parents' address claiming thely owe all this money and it will go to collections/court. In December, I took control of all my parents' affairs. I got their phone service back with Verizon. Clear Rate had put a block on their phone. Verizon was able to get it switched back and informed that what they did is called slamming. I called it hijacking. On Jan. 27, 2018 my father said he had received another threatening letter saying he owes $83.17. This company is bad news. I intend to end their abuse.

This is their company way of life. They prey on the elderly. I recommend you file a complaint with the Michigan Public Service Commission at:
http://www.michigan.gov/mpsc/0, 4639, [protected]_16415---, 00.html

They can help you in this matter and see that justice is done.

Clear Rate Communications landline phone service

There is loads of scamming going on by Clear Rate's 3rd party sales force. A year ago, a family member not even on our Verizon acct, receive a call from a person claiming to be a Verizon employee with a better deal. Without my permission (Verizon acct was in my name only) my landline number was ported over without my knowledge from Verizon to Clear Rate. It took me many calls to get it back to Verizon and I ended up with a higher rate since Verizon had already closed my acct. Now a year later, we are receiving scam calls from the Clear Rate number again. One I answered and a crying person claimed to be my grand daughter in jail asking if she can give my number to her public defender. They would record my 'yes' response and have my number ported over. I immediately found out it was Clear Rate so I called Fronteir (formerly Verizon) and had them lock my acct. Today we received another one of Clear Rates scams pretending to be a grandson of my father. I am so fed up since I am a caregiver of several who live with me and the landline can be answered by any of these disabled people. I just got off the phone with Clear Rate which they denied any wrong doing but did confirm that they have a 3rd part sales force.

Clear Rate Communications internet service

We are a municipal government who transferred all of our AT&T service to clear rate a year ago. We have had very few interruptions of service, but now we are having trouble with email attachments and are told that they are working on it. Meanwhile we have over 400 email service water bills that have to go out asap. This is unacceptable, there has to be someone at clear rate responsible for timely service, this has been going on for more than a week. I am beginning to think we made a huge error in moving to Clear Rate

As a former customer of Clear Rate, I am not surprised. A few months ago they knocked everyone out of service for a full day. The MPSC should really investigate this fraudulent company.

Clear Rate Communications house phone

Have a friend with a medical condition and has been without a house phone for over a week. Trys to call and get someone out to the house to fix the phone but just want to give her some [censor] excuse as to why they cant come out to fix it. Poor service, this company isn't worth a [censor]. Don't expect anymore money until phone is fixed and working. She and her family need the landline, due to her being home during the day by herself until after lunch time.

Clear Rate Communications unethical behaviour

My mother who is 82 years old was taken advantage of by this company! When she was getting ready to move they talked her into getting a cell phone because it would be cheaper! (a cell phone for an 82 year old who has problems with the tv remote) but they neglected to tell her there would be a $99 fee if she returned phone. So she receives the cell phone, I explain how it wont work in her apartment when people ring to come up and how small and complicated it is to use. She never activates phone! We return phone with prof! We do have them hook up a land line for her. Oh did I mention she was using this company for 8 years prior to the move... So she gets her first bill. Wow! $93.95 for activating a phone she never activated! Then $34.99 for using the cell phone for the month! Now how can she possibly use the cell phone that she never activated and mailed back to them? But when I call to go over the bill with a "mark" do you think they will do anything about these charges? Nooo! This company takes advantage of the elderly! They turn her phone off before due date! Then charge reconnection fee! Over and over! Plus add more fees which is funny because how can a phone that is turned off price continue to go up? Besides the reconnection fee? Do not use this company! They are horrible! They have no care of their customers! And they prey on the elderly!

Clear Rate Communications I am complaining about getting tricked into a plan I didn't want!

I got a phone call asking if I wanted to make my bill cheaper and I said yes because I had just lost my job and I thought it would make it easier they told me it would not affect my internet service with centurylink at all. But my internet got disconnected anyway I called both companies and both told me that it was clear rates fault they had misused my information and disconnected my internet service anyway. I was on the phone for two hours with both companies trying to get my internet put back up and I kept getting the same runaround from clear rate saying that it was century links fault when century link said that they did not disconnect my services at all and I spoke with the representative for clear rates and he said that the order got processed wrong and when I called back to speak with a supervisor he was looking at the order said it was not wrong and i'm guessing that they fixed it before I can put in a complaint, I freaking will not be recommending this company for anything I get screwed over i'm going to fall behind in school because it's going to take five days to get the internet back up so thank you very much clear rate you screwed someone over thank you. I no way! Gave permission for clear rate to take over my internet services and they did anyway so thank you. I have canceled my services with clear rate I went back to century link I will not be recommending this company to anybody

I have my service with Frontier but I got a call from clear rate telling me that switching my service WiFi and Phone that I would pay only $45.
So I did cancel my frontier but the same day I found out I was scammed and that $45 was just my phone service. I called frontier stating I want to remain with them and they said ok. One week later my Internet was disconnected. I must of talked to several service people they told me at frontier they don't have any record of my service.
Omg I said just recconect me. After they told me it wasn't that easy that I might have to sign up again in the mean time clear rate has my phone service.
Frontier told me I'll try to connect u back up in 2 weeks. This is so not right. I need my Wifi. I'm completely bewildered how this got so messed up. Help what can I do. Frontier will have to charge all the upfront costs all over again. Clear rate is already billing us $45 that we don't want there service.
This is fraudulent and I'm going to complain with the BBB and sue if they don't fix this.
David

I had the same thing happen. Clear Rate was contracted by Frontier but something happened that they started stealing Frontier’s customers. Because it’s Frontier screwup they should be handling this not me and I’m having to pay the disconnect fee with Clear Rate. Clear Rate knew all of my account information and told me billing and everything would continue coming from Frontier. I specifically asked them if I would get a bill from Clear Rate and they said no it would show on my bill from Frontier that my service was coming from Clear Rate. Frontier tech came here and changed my router per request of Clear Rate (Frontier’s contracted company). When I received two bills one from Frontier and one from Clear Rate I was not happy! It’s been three weeks since I went back to frontier and now my Internet will not work at all. The blue globe is on, everything looks fine but I get absolutely no Internet. I can’t hook up with my phone or my iPad. Now it’s a cluster f**k trying to get to Frontier to fix internet issues. 😡GRRRRRR

Clear Rate Communications phone service

This company is the biggest joke in town! I have an elder mother that lives alone. I tried calling her all day and kept getting a busy signal on the phone, so I drove over 50 miles on 6-13-16 to get to her house. Once I got there I found out she had no phone connection. I called your (Not) so friendly customer service to see if they could help... Wrong! The young girl on the phone was so rude and unprofessional. I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and was told they only work 9-5. I have never heard of such a thing. She didn't want to give me names of anyone. Ok, so I ended the call with her. First thing the next morning I run into the same thing, but with a guy this time. I told them if my mother had an medical emergency and needed to call 911 and cound not use her phone to contact someone, that their company would be held responsible. I was still told the same thing... That there had been a ticket put in for a service repair with the date of 6-15-16. I pray nothing happens to my mother... Shame on you clear rate com. You are the worst company I have ran across in a long time! I hope no one ever ask me about your company, you would not get a good word from me.

Clear Rate Communications scam company

My brother is disabled and lives in West Virginia.
Clear Rate called him and offered a better deal on his telephone rate. He accepted the deal.
He never received a bill and disconnected the phone.
We paid the bill plus a large reconnect fee.
A couple of months pass and they disconnect the phone again. (Again no bill.)
We paid the 2 months and a large reconnect fee.
We waited a few days and the telephone was still disconnected.
The account now has a large overpayment because my brother and I both paid the bill.
We want to transfer back to Frontier but Clear Rate will not have the phone reconnected for another 2 days (total 9days).
So my brother who is disabled is/has been without a phone for 9 days while this ### company is sitting on a large overpayment?

I received a phone call one day back in December out of the blue from a company called “Clear Rate Communications.” A very pleasant young man said that he could lower my phone bill with Verizon. I told him that I was happy with my Verizon service and was not looking to change anything. He went on to tell me that caller ID, voicemail and long distance call...

Clear Rate Communications telephone

Last week, I switched over from CenturyLink to Clear Rate because I wanted to pay less for my telephone service( $29.99 per month for a year) while keeping my CenturyLink high-speed internet access. However, when Clear Rate took over my phone line last Thursday, my CenturyLink internet access---in which I'm still a customer---was bumped out and I have not had internet access at home since. I feel like an absolute dolt. If I switch back to CenturyLink, I may have to pay a penalty for breaking my Clear Rate contract.

This is the exact same thing that happened to us in June 2016. We were guaranteed that our CenturyLink Internet connection would not be touched. We have now been without Internet for almost 8 months. Our data plan on our phones is high now. To make things even better, our phone shut off this morning (Sunday) 2 days after our payment to them was processed. I will be calling them tomorrow to find out what the heck. I'm so done with this company and will be returning to CenturyLink asap.

Clear Rate Communications telephone service

This is the complaint I sent directly to clear rate communications: I recently received a telephone call from your company, clear rate communications, regarding a wonderful rate on telephone service. I asked the second representative who took over the call if it would affect the bundle with my current carrier; he stated that it would not affect my bundle. He said phone companies don't bundle the phone with other services and everything else would remain the same. His responses to my questions were complete lies. I was also told that I would be billed after a month of service, not pre-billed. Well, I received a bill shortly after this service took over and to my surprise, the bill was as much as my previous carrier. I cannot believe I am being charged $57.16 and have only had the service for a short period of time. Not only did my bundle get messed up, but i'm not saving any money. I'm paying for poor customer service and representatives that are misleading and untruthful.

When calling the company with my issues on august 14th, the phone conversation regarding the bundling service was apparently not recorded. The third party verification was recorded, but it was completely automated and I was agreeing to the conditions based on the information received by the representative calling my home. When I received a callback, I didn't have any problems to report because I had not yet received a bill and didn't know that my bundle was affected. Unfortunately, I wasn't successful in getting my situation resolved, and discovered that the customer service is terrible. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, there wasn't one available, but I could receive a call back "tomorrow".

Unfortunately, I did some research on the company after realizing the offer they coaxed me into was not going to save me any money after writing checks to 3 different companies. I only wish I had known other customers were as dissatisfied as I am. Some of the complaints I found included terms like "tricked", "very poor management", and they only want their money even though and to keep you as a customer even though you're dissatisfied with their service.

Because of the misinformation I received, I want this contract voided without cost. I am very disappointed with this company and their processes. I took the representative's word regarding my bundled services and he apparently had no clue when responding; I feel he gave me the best answer to try and convince me to switch services. Well, he was successful and now I have a higher bill to pay, a messed up bundle with my previous provider and horrible customer service.

Clear Rate Communications no service

My step-mother who is hearing impaired and uses a walker had lightning hit her home on Feb. 29th 2012. The outside phone box wihich is attached to the house was blown to bits. She has had no phone service since the 29th this is the 5th of March. She lives alone and has no phone. Clear rate wants 100.00 to run a new lines in her home. I can run a new line but they refuse to replace the blown apart box. These people have no conscious at all. DO NOT USE THEM OR SWITCH TO THEM. You will regret it!

Clear Rate Communications no service, but wants $282.98 for services. provided

This company called my wife and told her they had a lot better phone service package than our present carrier (verizon), she said she would talk it over with her husband (Me) and get back to them. We talked it over and we decided to just stay with verizon. A couple days later people were calling us on our cell phone cause they could not reach us on our home phone, I called verizon and asked if there was a problem in our area cause we have no phone service, they informed me that they are no longer the carrier for our service and that they cannot help me, you need to call your new carrier, clear rate. I proceeded to call clear rate and they informed me that my wife gave them permission to change our service, (which she did not do). Come to find out, they dis-connected my phone service to verizon on the same day they talked to my wife, without her permission, and when I told them I have no phone service now at all, their reply was that they have a lot of customers changing carriers to clear rate, and my service should be back on within 72 hours! And, at this point it had already been off for 3 days.
From the time they turned off my service and I switched back to verizon, we had no service for 9 days! Now, I am getting a bill for $282.98 for services they provided to us. Lets see here where those charges came from... If you have no phone service.
A) cannot make or receive calls. (which means no charges there for calls made or received).
B) no internet (so cannot use that, so no charge for internet).
C) no products ordered or delivered, no charge there).

How can you have a bill for services, when they did not supply you any?

This company is a "joke" and you need to avoid them completely!

I have sent them several letters explaining that I do not owe this bill, to date I have had no reply except for this new bill, in which I am not gonna pay, and I am forewarding this matter to my attorney for further action.

Sindy, I agree, we could file class action suit to get this company bankrupt (hopefully) and have them pay fines to the government for scamming consumers.

The same exact thing happened to me. I got a bill from them, in some other name. I complained to the BBB only to recieve a revised bill with my name. Do you think we could file a class action suit? Just wondering, because of ALL the complaints I have seen online.

Clear Rate Communications rip off's

This company calls up customer, tells them that ‘they are’ your local phone company and bamboozles you into their service, with a one yr contract too boot. Good service or not, they rip people off every day! I called them once and the lady on the other end of the line was very sweet when she answered the phone, I simply asked (inquired) do you guys have contracts? She got very stern and asked “who is this”? No joke! That right there told me all I needed to know about this so called company. They should be taken down! They are classic crooks in the 21st century and shouldn't be supported in any way.

Clear Rate Communications fraud/no service provided

My 80 year old mother-in-law was contacted by Clear Rate and convinced her to switch to their service in December 2009. She was without phone service for a 2 week period. When family tried to contact Clear Rate, they were told that we could not be talked to since we were not on the account. They suggested that this 80 year old woman (who doesn't drive) walk to a pay phone to contact them. We found another provider. Unfortunately, Clear Rate is threatening to report my mother-in-law to a collection agency for phone service she never had. This company has no customer service and is a complete fraud.

Steer clear of Clear! They entered the Houston market this year with a huge advertising campaign. After being assured that I would have 4G coverage in-home service, I signed up with home and voice service. 30 days later they still couldn't provide an adequate signal for internet connection (one light on modem, occasionally 2 lights). With the poor internet connection, the voice service was terrible. After 10 calls to Customer (not) Service, I pulled the plug and went back to my old internet provider.
.
Clear makes lots of promises but they are weak on execution. I would never recommend Clear wireless to anyone!
