Choice Home Warranty Did not cover full amount for washer

Our washing machine broke, technician came out and said it cost too mi h to repair. Choice only gave us $550 for a new washer and our washer cost $949 to replace. We want our washer and they are supposed to replace it not give us a fraction of the cost for what it’s worth.

Go to American Homeshield. They will actually replace your stuff with equal appliances and such. Choice is a horrible and led me to believe they were a better company than AHS because of their cost per month being cheaper. Such a dumb decision to go with Choice! Going back to AHS NEXT MONTH!

Desired outcome: For Choice to pay the full amount to replace our washing machine $949+ tax

Choice Home Warranty Heat pump

I filed a claim on 4/26/22 for my heat pump not working with Choice Home Warranty Services. They assigned a Technician to come out and check my system on 4/29/22. He said the heat pump had to be replaced and got approval from choice home warranty on 4/30/22 to replace it. I have been getting emails two to three a day from 4/30/22 to 5/20/22 that the part was ordered. I have called so many times to them and get a different person each time to get different information each time. They tell me the part was ordered, the part was delivered, they don't know there the part is and so on with excuses. I just talked with a resolution person in Florida to day and he thinks the part was shipped on 5/23/22 from Delaware, if that is the case it should be here because we are only one hour from Delaware. It has been one month since the claim was turned in and they tell me to call back to morrow if the part doesn't show up, it does not take a month to get a heat pump. Please help if you can.

Choice Home Warranty Choice Home Warranty refusal to pay for new dishwasher

I am of the opinion Choice Home Warranty make fraud and fake advertising claims, they state via advertising Choice Home Warranty will fix or replace your covered items, and lead you to believe they will replace them with newer items, this of course is NOT the case. I recently had a dishwasher fail, I called CHW the repair tech came out then sent a report to CHW, upon review CHW only paid about $200.00 toward a new dishwasher when of course a new dishwasher costs around $600.00 to $700.00. I took about 3 weeks for the claims department to return my calls or answer my emails, and they informed me that all they will pay. I paid for the extended warranty and they DID NOT COVER my appliance, they NEVER REPAIR IT OR REPLACE IT. THIS IS FALSE AND FRAUD ADVERTISING.

Choice Home Warranty Dishwasher claim not resolved

I made my 1st ever claim on 4/14. A one man company came over on 4/19 and said he had to order parts. He did not order part until 4/25/22. Choice set up an appointment for 5/5/22 from 3-8. At 8, I called repair man. He had no idea why appointment was made because he had no idea when parts would be available. I called Choice almost everyday and they tried to call repair man and he would not answer. Finally he told them the parts would come on 6/24/22. However the repairman told me he wasn't sure they would even be available at that time but had to tell company some date. I heave talked to resolution manager at least 3 times. Everytime they said they would call back within 24 hours to address the issue, and they have not. Now they are saying because the technician said parts would come in on 6/24/22 I would have to wait. That is a 2 month wait. Totally unacceptable. So they said if I did not want to wait then they would give me 150.00 towards a new dishwasher. Is this a joke? We are both seniors in our home and I do believe this would fall under elderly fraud. I'm very stressed and am looking for help. Thank you

Desired outcome: Repair or new dishwasher, and not have to wait until 6/24/22 to even see when the part may come. I would appreciate a response.

Choice Home Warranty Waiting for my air conditioning to be replaced

I placed the claim over two months ago when my air conditioning went out. At this point I don’t know what to do.I live in Florida and lately the weather’s been in the 90s which makes the house unbearable to stay in. Choice Home Warranty Water heater claim

First claim for the water heater was filed May 11th. Now it is May 23rd and still CHW will not take responsibility to have this problem resolved. The first tech, Alpha Home Services, sent their diagnosis and CHW did nothing but decided to reassign the problem to Meritt Plumbing. Now Meritt Plumbing sent CHW their diagnosis earlier today and still has not received a reply. It is very hard to get CHW on the phone and when I finally get thru they have the same prefabricated response."There is nothing I can do but wait." Well I've been waiting ,for 12 days now. And now another day has gone by due to CHW unwillingness to live up to their responsibility there is no resoiution.

Desired outcome: I would like CHW to do as they say and take responsibility and fix my water heater ASAP.

Choice Home Warranty Poor/no service

I was a new homeowner and recently hospitalized. I got a call from a very polite young gentleman talking about Home Owners Insurance. I listened to him, questioned him on coverage and even took out additional coverage to cover pool and spa.

I had 6 claims on my Air conditioning. After the first AC call it was determined by CHOICE they were not able to cover the expense because it needed a new coil and I had to go to the manufacturer and work with my own AC people. I was given several runarounds by Choice and ended up having to buy a complete Heating and Air conditioning unit.

I had a claim on my refrigerator freezing on the out side. again they don't cover the Ice making unit.

On 3 separate times I've have had leaks in my pool and some of the pipes. They either couldn't find someone to fix it or failed to have someone come. The most recent case is over a month old and I kept contacting the repair guy and he told me that he was sorry he couldn't help me because CHOICE owed him for several repairs he had done.

Lastly I had a plumbing issue and a very nice man came to help me. He said CHOICE would not cover the repair because I have a roof vent.

I made sure to answer and ask all the questions when I took this policy out. The policy was over $3000.00 and I was assured that the ONLY out of pocket I would have for ANY issues was my $65.00 for each service call.

Either the guy who sold me the policy was out right lying or the company trains people to sell this was, get their monies up front, then deny claims.

Yes I have appealed and always got turned down.

Desired outcome: I want to warn other consumers to stay away from this company.I don't want an apology(they are VERY good at that)I want a refund of the policy cost,

Choice Home Warranty Water Heater

Water Heater has always been in working order since installation in 2008.

It entered the policy in proper condition, after the 30-day period.

There was NO leak when Choice Home Warranty service began.

It's normal wear and tear.

Issue started May 13, 2022.

Claim for repair or replacement was rejected.

Desired outcome: Replace Water Heater.

Choice Home Warranty Refusal to do any repairs

Bought a 5-year CHW in 2019 - moved to newly built house in next county in 2020 - advised Choice of my new address and phone number. A/C unit stopped working 5/16/2022 - called CHW - their recording found my account by my new phone number - but still had the old address, it had not been updated, despite my having advised them when I moved.

After 4 attempts to call them, I used their e-mail system. This is the response I received:

Thank you for your email. Please note, that we will be more than happy to assist you by transferring the policy to the new address. However, once transferred, *we will need to wait 30 days for the policy to be effective in the new address.* Please reply and confirm if you want us to complete the transfer. However, we will not be able to place a new claim for the new address until get effective. Thank you for being a valued customer of Choice Home Warranty.

Being unable to reach them by phone, I used 'return e-mail" back that I refused to accept their response and demanded they honor their warranty. They refused. I pointed out that the lack of a correct address was their fault, not mine, as someone had failed to fully update my account with the new address - BUT HAD CHANGED THE PHONE NUMBER TO MY NEW NUMBER, WITH AREA CODE, IN A DIFFERENT COUNTY.

They continue to refuse to grant me any service - so I have to pay for the repair or replacement of A/C unit, here in Central Florida in May.

Apparently, I'm just one of thousands nationwide who have been cheated by CHW - Why haven't they been attacked by the federal government? Did they pay off some officials with their ill-gotten millions? How high does the corruption go?

Desired outcome: I want them to pay for whatever the A/C company charges when they come out today, and I expect them to live up to their claims and promises for the rest of my contract -- WHICH I WILL NOT BE FOOL ENOUGH TO RENEW!

Choice Home Warranty Water heater

Worst warranty company ever. Run away from them. Won’t honor high dollar item repairs. This the second time they are trying to get out of repairs. And in each case there was issues with the tech they sent out, when it’s in your favor. Supposedly the tech didn’t submit claim correctly, yet I called the tech back and I’m given a different story how Choice drag their feet to prolong agony in hopes the client gives in to fixing it themselves. Watch out this is a dishonest company. I been without hot water for nearly 7 days because they needed tech to resubmit pictures, which he clearly said he sent showing a pan full of water indicating a broken unit. How petty sad part is I’m a retired military vet. Sad but true. Evertime I call and ask for manager, I’m placed on hold and mysteriously the phone hangs up, also I’m always conversing with a person with foreign accent and other agents in the background. What a scam. Place call on 10 May 2022 and today May 16th. Wow! Can’t shower, wash dishes, or clothes.

Choice Home Warranty A/C Repair

On Monday, May 9, 2022, we submitted a service request to have A/C repaired. The A/C technician was available the next day. He explained the problem and that it was fixable and reported this to the company. They denied the claim because they said there was dirt in the fan and motor because 1) we didn't have a filter or 2) the filter was dirty, causing the fan to break. They also said the motor was seized, but it wasn't. Our claim was denied via email late in the evening. All of this happened on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, I initiated the appeal process described in the email to get someone to look at the claim again. We were assigned a Case Manager, provided a phone number and a link to a webpage to schedule an appointment with the Case Manager. I could also call the Case Manager (which I did) and leave a message. No one returned my call. I called Customer Service to find out if there was an update to my service request. No update. I repeated all of these steps again on Thursday. Still no change.

When I indicated I wanted to cancel the contract, I was transferred to a mitigation specialist. His tone and approach felt like he was bullying me into retaining the contract. After 45 minutes of listening to him tell me I was making an emotional decision, he finally cancelled my contract and hurriedly told me the reimbursement details in 20 seconds. I had him repeat the details slower for my benefit. Why was he angry that I was canceling the contract?!?!

We paid for the repair and chose a different Home Warranty Company. We will never recommend or use Choice Home Warranty again.

Desired outcome: At this point, we would like to be refunded the prorated amount of the remainder of our 6-year contract.

In March 2022, I filed a claim for a leaking water heater with Choice Home Warranty. Within hours, ON THEIR WEBSITE, the name of one contractor to

do the repair showed up. Only One! I explained the leaking issue and sent pictures to the replying contractor. The contractor gave me a quote and that they could be at my residence the next day. However, they told me that Choice was a very slow payer for contractors and they requested that I pay upfront. I called Choice and the agent that I spoke to told me that I had to go with them or no one since they were the only contractors that replied in a timely manner for my water issue. I paid the fee and the water heater was installed. Now Choice is telling me that they will reimburse me a partial amount (their Good Will) as I wasn't supposed to pay. On my call, I asked what alternative did I have? A wet and moldy laundry room if the heater burst? Why list a contractor on your site that a customer would think you stand behind? I am now out $850.

Desired outcome: The remainder of my fee. $1580 - $700 (Choice's Good Will fee back to me) =$850.

Choice Home Warranty Service

I have had contracted with multiple home warranty companies over the last 35 years and choice home warranty is by far the absolute worst one we have contracted with. They rarely have somebody available and when they do the issue is either not covered, nor fixed properly. We own rental property and need to have a home warranty company that we can count on. That company is not choice home warranty. If they don't have anybody available, they say you can hire somebody else to fix it as long as they are licensed and submit an estimate of the repairs, but the multiple times we have been forced to take this route, chw has found some excuse to deny the claim because not all of the i's were dotted or t's crossed. I can count on less than one hand the times that chw has actually resolved an issue for us in over a year or more.

This latest issue was the final straw. We had an issue with a leaky toilet that we submitted a claim and service request for. I was pleasantly surprised that I received notice that chw schedule a repair company, only to find out after sitting around for 6 hours and calling the repair company chw dispatched, that the company d0es not do any business with chw. After talking to multiple persons at chw, I ws finally able to cancel my service and get a partial refund of services we had paid for and never received. Stay as far away from chw as you can.

Desired outcome: REFUND FOR ENTIRE AMOUNT OF CONTRACT SINCE NO SERVICES WERE EVER PROVIDED, NOR REIMBURSED SINCE WE CONTRACTED THE MOST RECENT 3 YEAR CONTRACT.

Choice Home Warranty A/C repair

I filed my first claim for a/c service during the summer of 2020 - the technician stated the unit need to be replaced and sent photos to the company. I received a notification that the necessary repairs would be made but I would be required to pay at least $1400 out of pocket and possibly more. I was on a fixed income and could not afford this sudden expense. I complained to the resolutions department to no avail, so I let the contract lapse. I was contacted repeatedly to renew my contract. I finally spoke with a representative in January of 2021 who assured me that there were new policies in place and that my claim would be covered 100%, so I agreed to a new contract. I was advised to wait until the weather was warmer to re-file the claim and did so in May 2021. While the previous year's approved claim stated the unit was to be replaced, the new technician stated the problem was electrical so I filed a claim for that and the circuit breaker was changed by another technician. When the problem was not corrected, another technician was sent to re-evaluate the unit. After dismantling the unit, he also stated to me that it needed to be replaced and submitted his report for approval. The claim was was then declined for "pre-existing conditions" and also because the photos sent this time showed vegetation growth on the unit, which the company deemed was the cause of the breakdown of the unit. After expediting my complaint this time, I was told I had no recourse. I let the contract lapse again.

Desired outcome: I would like the company to replace the unit as they agreed to do so when I paid for the new contract.

Choice Home Warranty I put in a claim in april 2022

Put a claim om an applanice april 2022 contactor came out order parts then canceled the next appt because the parts cant not be found its been 6 weeks and the claim has not been taken care of! 6 week need refridertor! Can not get anywhere with calling the office. Want it taken car of right now!

What it is that you people dont understand about needing a refridgetor! You need to repect your customers and take care of the problem

Choice Home Warranty dishwasher

submitted a claim concerning my dishwasher not working 4/5/22. A technician came and said he had to order parts. Your company scheduled an appointment for technician to come back. By the end of the day, I called and he said parts haven't come in yet. Now, technician will not answer calls. His mailbox is full. You have said for 3 weeks now that a supervisor would call back. And no one will call back or resolve this matter. I will go to small claims court as it only costs 60.00 to file. Also we are senior citizens and this is fraud against a senior which is a very serious claim. Please have someone with authority call me back ASAP.

Choice Home Warranty choice home warranty rarely approves relatively big repairs

I paid up front for a 6 year "total" plan, thought I got a good deal back in April 2019. I couldn't be more wrong after 3 years. The exclusion list is long and wide, few issues are due to normal wear and tear and are covered. If you're considering home warranty, definitely do NOT use Choice Home Warranty.

Before I switched to Choice Home Warranty, I had no issues to have compressor replaced by another home warranty company (the price kept going up fast so I switched company) or had my water heater replaced.

Also, if you decide to cancel after the 1st 30 days, you need to pay ALL repair cost you incurred, plus premium and transaction fee for cancellation.

Desired outcome: already cancelled my policy and decided not to use Choice Home Warranty again

Choice Home Warranty Home warranty

Placed a claim for my Home Warranty to Choice for an inoperative A/C unit. Technician came out four days later an informed me it was a thermostat wire that needed to be replaced. The wire would need to be run from the condenser to the unit in the attic. Choice immediately denied my claim stating that the cause was not normal wear and tear. I have been in my home since 2008 and have had Choice at $40 and ultimately $53 a month since 2017. How would they know? I had another technician (non Choice affiliated) look at the issue and he stated I needed to replace the system at a cost of $7200.00. This has to stop. It has to be pretty close to white collar crime and it time Congress does something. I will draft a letter to my Congressman and the Attorney General in my State and have my peers in the Federal Government do the same. This company should be placed on a barment list for military and government personnel. I will also place an article on consumer affairs and any other platform that will let folks know that this is a scam. Claim #[protected]. I learned the company is run out of a hotel room and really is not interested in resolving complaints. I have had success with another Home Warranty Service my using the Consumer Affairs complaint process. I will seek redress with them as well. I have checked with BBB and they have thousands of complaints with them as well.

Choice Home Warranty Toilet

My contract ends 7/9/23.

I put in a service call on 4/15/22 to repair my broken toilet and leaking toilet. A technician came on 4/25/22 around 2:45pm. I had not received an approval so I called 4/27/22 to find out why and they say he no longer works here. Nevertheless; someone should have call me and explained they were assigning another technician.

A technician comes out on Monday, 5/2/22; now I get approval but I have to pay almost $700.00 because I only have $500.00 left on my plan. I don't understand this. I paid the first technician the agreed contract amount for coming out. I shouldn't have to pay anything more. This is the purpose of having the maintenance agreement.

I purchased a 5year plan; I have only had a few minor repairs over this span. My repairs surely did not add up to the cost I paid for this plan.

I would like someone to call me and explain this and why it's taken almost 2 weeks to get the toilets on a list for repair.
