Choice Home Warranty No reimbursement

The last two times I used choice home warranty they were not able to get a tech for my problem. They advised me to contact one on my own and they would reimburse me. The last tech they issued me canceled 2 days later because they said they were too far out of their area (they were to fix my water heater) I got my own tech and they could not fix the water heater because they could not get parts. I ended up buying a new water heater from them because I had gone close to a week without hot water. I know I was to get the ok from choice home warranty but I needed hot water. I am not expecting total reimbursement from them {$1300) but I think it's only fair I receive some compensation policy # [protected] 1/20/21 james willard work done by mw robinson wooster, ohio

i have the same issue they want me wait to mar 1 2021 jest to have some one to check the water heater and i know it needs replaced they dnt let me get some one to replace now i callefd a lot of company they said they can do now.can atty sue then i have a healt ploodem afther this i got high blood pressure afther thisi called on feb 23-2021 they want me to wait to mar 1 2021

Choice Home Warranty Warranty coverage

If I had to give Choice Home warranty (CHW) a rating it would be zero. My first claim with the the company was for a dryer. My Dryer was drying but not completely. The maintenance guy came out and said needs service. Then they came out to do the repair a week later. The repair was made and I was at work and not able to check the work. However later that day discovered my dryer was not drying at all after the repair. I called the warranty company and it took another 2 to 3 days to get a technician out to determine the cause. He thought it was the element and went to order it. Time went by and no information was provided on when the part would be available. I reach out time after time to CHW to get an update to no avail. Finally after another two weeks without a dryer. I decided to speak with management of CHW I was able to get another technician from a different company to dispatch. This technician was much more familiar with the dryer had the correct part to repair which was not the element by the way. My thought is the first company that CHW dispatched was a cheaper and less known service repair than the first. Anyway after almost two months of calling the dryer was finally repaired. I am sure if I hadn't called my dryer still would not be repaired.

Now two months later I find that my water heater is leaking. After calling about the claim. The fine print of the contract states that the warranty does not include the main tank. Since this is the item that normally the issue in a water heater my question is what is the point.

So needless to say I probably will not renew this home warranty and be very leery about getting another one. Another example of insurance companies finding loopholes and providing substandard service.

I also noticed that most of the customer service for this company is outsourced overseas. So this company is more interested in profit than providing American jobs and quality service.

I DO NOT recommend this company for your warranty choice.

Choice Home Warranty Not honoring home warranty per policy!

I have had Choice Home Warranty for my home since April of 2019. I made my first claim on January 19th, 2020. A week later an appointment was scheduled, a man came to my door, visually looked at my dishwasher took a payment for $85 and was never seen from again. When I called Choice Home Warranty over a week later because my dishwasher was still broken, their response was we have had a lot of complaints about that company we will find someone else. Another week passed no one was found, when I called they promised they would go out of their vendors and find someone for me as soon as possible (this was Thursday, February 4th).

As of 8 pm this evening (February 8th) I received a robo call form Choice Home Warranty that someone else, Jorge Construction, is coming tomorrow between 3 pm - 8 pm and they leave a phone number for Jorge Construction. I call the phone number for Jorge Construction and in reality Jorge owns an auto repair shop and there is no business to be found in the state of Connecticut titled Jorge Construction with this phone number. There is a Jorge Construction under another phone number with a 1/5 star rating!

Choice Warranty's response time is unacceptable and who they are sending into my home is questionable and actually frightening. The first person was obviously shady and a thief and I have no confidence that Jorge that owns a auto repair shop and also owns a business called Jorge Construction is going to come to fix my dishwasher.

As a single woman living alone I do not want random people that they don't even know and they do not have a business relationship with being sent to my home. They low ball a bid for a repair and just accept whomever is willing to make the repair for the least amount of money. This is unacceptable!

Thus far they only offered to give me my $85 dollars back and I told them that I have paid $475 in premiums plus the $85 co-pay. My policy states I pay $85 dollars to have it those items in my warranty repaired or replaced. Choice Warranty can't seem to arrange for either scenario. I need to pay someone else to repair my dishwasher (if it even can be repaired) or buy a new one.

Desired outcome: I want reimbursement for my premiums paid and the $85 so that I can have my dishwasher repaired or replaced (as their warranty promises).

Choice Home Warranty Taking over a month to finish simple exhaust fan in bath room

We have called 36 times to resolve this and cant get a single phone call back paid a year in advance for nothing told them I wanted a refund they don't give one they are untrustworthy they have taken advantage of us senior citizens and disabled vets and were fed up with the wait its caused a lot of worry and stress from waiting on them to call us and the time they waisted of ours has been 20 plus hours all for nothing

Choice Home Warranty Unethical / unfair practice

In november 2020 my subzero refrigerator water dispensor stopped working. I filed a claim #[protected]. The technician who came to repair had no clue about the problem. He said he repairs common refrigerators and not sub zero. He came back few days later with some parts and replaced those however it did not work. He said he will come back later to look at it. He was v sick both times when he came with severe shortness of breath, coughing and wheezing. I was concerned about him having covid-19 infection and advised him that he should not be here to do the repair when he is sick. I also asked him before returning back to get checked out for covid-19 infection which he tested positive 2 days later. I called the company back. They said that they have send out claim to new technicians in the area to pick that up and they will let me know. No body from company called or any technician came for next 7-10 days. I called the company again and they said that they do not have any other technician available in the local area and they want me to contact any local technician available to repair that. I called the only local sub zero authorised technician who gave total estimate of $636. I submitted all that information electronically. Choice home warranty is now deciding to pay only $287 saying that I picked up my own repair person and they will pay what they pay to their technician. I did not pick or chose my own technician. I called him because company advised me to contact local technician as they had no body available in the local area. I tried to take it to their manager but they simply refused to listen. Please help me in this regard for this unfair practice. I have spend countless number of hours for last 2 weeks almost on a daily basis without any resolution.

Desired outcome: Reimburse for the total amount of $636 as oppose to partial amount of $287

In June 8 called to get my AC working.Here it is October 17 and still not fixed. After 2 servicemen one I paid my 80.00 service fee.He called Company and they said they wanted a leak test.Said he didn't have equipment to test and he would be back in a week or so. Forward to following calls to Choice calling office .Secretary said he was in Pittsburgh and would call me tommorow.Another week or so still no repair guy. So finally they send another guy same thing they want a leak test.But they will not pay for it.He says he us not doing it for free.So they say they will send out another guy.Never happened. So today I call again ask for supervisor again same garbage they will return my call in 24 hrs which I was told before would happened. Told them I wanted to cancel my service and expected to be given a refund for all the months of service I paid for like 74 every month. He said the best he could do was give me 2 months free service. I said no I want my money back

Why would I want 2 free months more of no service. Than another option is you pay out of pocket and they will reimburse. If you read or have other folks you know with this service let's say you pay 500.00 they might reimburse you 209.00 if you are lucky.

So my husband and I are both over 70 years old,there were days it was like 90,They are lucky one of us did not have stroke not that it would of mattered to this company. So today I canceled service because still no air ,no repair man ,filed complaint with BBB requesting refund. Will go to company my sister is using.Should of canceled last summer they sent a plumber out and he dud not even have a snake,knowing it was clogged. Kept coming back one excuse after the other.Said he didn't have tool and would leave to get it and not come back.Finally after basement leaking and leaking my son fixed finally with no tools.WORST HOME WARRANTY EVER DO NOT SIGN UP WITH CHOICE

Choice Home Warranty Customer service and the repair techs

I filed a claim back in November when my nest thermostat had quit working, the tech they sent out said he would have to get with them and never showed back up again. They sent another tech out in December and he said he had to order a new nest controller and it would not be in till first week of January. He did put a generic thermostat in but pretty sure he wired it wrong as the heat runs all the time and the outside unit never comes on.. Well i called the tech back the second week of January and he said the new nest had just come in and scheduled a time for his to come and install. well he never showed up or called. He finally called the next day and rescheduled for the following week. well he never showed or called and hasn't returned my call since. I called choice to let them know and now i have to file a new claim and pay the new service fee. So now my electric bill has been over 100 dollars more than average and i have to pay a second service fee. i think this is crap and the customer service people don't care even though I've been a loyal customer for the past 5 years.

Desired outcome: I want them to make good on the original claim and get my heat back working proper.

Choice Home Warranty Repair of 2 ceiling fans and repair of double convection wall oven

Signed on with choice home warranty and had ceiling fans quit from electrical failure 3 months 3 different electricians and still not fixed so I bought the 2 fans hire my own electrician to replace them and asked for compensation since in 3 months choice home warranty failed to repair fans then I quit their service they refuse to send me $1500 check to replace double wall oven they could not repair and we settled on that amount while I was still under contract with them and that took 4 months to settle with no work or replacement ever done they stalled and had excuse after excuse plus to replace would cost #3000 not $1500 their excuse they had buying power and when I asked where to buy oven like mine for $1500 no answer. I would tell everyone they are a fraud and big scam company want the monthly payment provide no service and use bad repair people

Desired outcome: Would like to get reimbursed for buying fans and paying labor to a quality electrician plus get my $1500 for double wall oven even though its half what an oven like mine costs

Choice Home Warranty Service no shows

We filed a service request for a clogged kitchen sink. Had to wait 4 days for someone to get scheduled. That technician was a no show/no call. Waited another 3 days for the next appointment, which again the technician was a no show/no call. Receive an email from Choice telling us to find someone local which we did. Repair made the next morning. Now Choice does not want to reimburse me anything for having a local technician complete a repair which they could not find a technician to do. Beyond frustrated.

Choice Home Warranty Water heater

On 1/23/21 my water heater was leaking. I called Choice Home Warranty. They issued me a claim number ([protected]) and informed me that they would have a technician contact me. On 1/24/21 I was informed that they could not find a technician to come and look at it. Choice Home Warranty informed me to find my own technician. I did that. He gave me an estimate for $1850. I submitted it and was told that the water heater was not covered. I paid to have a new water heater put in.
On 11/1/19 I renewed my policy for $2100.00 to expire 1/16/26.
I want to cancel my policy and be reimbursed for the remainder paid.
I have received no response from Choice Home Warranty.

Desired outcome: I request a refund of $1586.00; The unused premium paid

Choice Home Warranty Dishwasher

I had submitted my dishwasher to be fixed. Well, the parts needed to come in and when they did, the repairer came out on yesterday, 1/28/21, to repair dishwasher. I washed my first load of dishes last night and this morning took them out of dishwasher. I was disappointed to see that the dishes on the bottom had cleaned but not the ones on the top. It was as if the water and dishwasher detergent had never touched them. I'm right back from where I started, that was my original complaint. The dishwasher not cleaning dishes. I have photos but do not know how to send them. The repairer was from the AAR Appliance company

Choice Home Warranty Repair and replacement

Two front-load clothes washers (whirlpool and LG) and dryer (LG) at my properties need to be repaired this year, last year and the year before last year, respectively. For all three service requests, Choice decided not to repair due to cost and offered replacement. In all three cases, Choice only offered part of replacement cost. For example, for my LG 7.4 cu ft front load dryer DLE0442W, Choice offered $458 cash only for replacement which is less than 50% of the cost for my replacement by taking the service fee I paid into account. That means even though I have a home warranty, I have to contribute significantly towards any big item failure each time. This is not a replacement at all.

Choice Home Warranty Representative

I was contacted by a representative from Choice Home Warranty of 1/20/21. As usual they wanted to save me money on the home that I was purchasing and closing on. I informed the representative that the closing was postponed for 60 days and would be "shopping" home warranties later near the new closing date. The Choice representative realizing a no sale abruptly hung up on me. Reconsider this company for your home warranty.

Choice Home Warranty Furnace secondary heat exchanger failure

Two companies servicing my furnace agreed the 24 year old furnace heat exchanger was experiencing imminent failure. I contacted Choice Home Warranty to pay for the failure, which would be about $1, 800. They denied the claim based on their limitation of liability " The following are not included during the contract term; (i) malfunction or improper operation due to rust or corrosion of all systems and appliances". There was minimal corrosion in the exchanger, but more caused by the Condensate drain, particularly the one coming from the draft inducer assembly leaking into the furnace cabinet. My position with Choice Home Warranty is that a little corrosion in the heat exchanger is normal wear and tear after 24 years, which whey cover. After considerable discussion with Choice Home Warranty, they continued to deny the claim and pay NOTHING. It appears they will NEVER cover heat exchanger failures because there will always be some corrosion present, especially after 20 years. In my opinion they are a very irresponsible company.

Desired outcome: Choice Home Warranty sould cover this furnace claim and pay for its repair.

One of the Worst Companies to deal with.

No accountability, I have wasted 3 years of time and money dealing with them and every single time my Item to be repaired is EXCLUDED.

Horrible customer care and Appeal Process.

I have been trying to communicate with Choice Home Warranty to solve this.

Never reached a resolution or agreement, all previous claims have been decided to be excluded ot not covered under the Contract.

Choice Home Warranty Major appliances

I spent money that I don't have trying to keep my head above water. I submitted invoices amount to more than $5000.00 and choice locked my account and told me that I have to wait for 18 months to get paid. It is a hard lesson for me to learn that robbers come in all forms. Being out work due to this pandemic, I had hope that this company was honest.

Choice Home Warranty Air conditioning

I contacted Choice Home Warranty on September 1, 2020 with a claim that my air was not working. I received information that a technician with Walker Heating and Air would not be able to come out for two days. I was originally given a time for them to be there that was later changed. I was also told I would be contacted when they were on their way. Due to this I was on an errand when my son called me and said they were at the house earlier than was told and without notice. I talked to them briefly on the phone. They asked me when my AC had been serviced (it was on the A/C, but I told them last year). It appeared they were looking for an excuse. Then they told me that my problem would not be covered under the warranty as this was for maintenance. I told them no that was not the problem but that I was on the way and would be there shortly. When I arrived, the technician immediately said the problem was not covered and was I going to pay for it. I said ‘let's talk about this…'. They then got in their truck and left with no discussion at all. I was not able to tell them that the problem started when the power went off due to a storm. When the power was cut off the drain stopped and water filled in the pan. They claimed it was something that was not covered and refused to listen to the fact that the problem was not due to poor maintenance but due to the power being lost due to bad weather. My house had been in 97 degree heat for three days during a pandemic and neither Walker or Choice were doing anything to help me. I had to contact a reliable air conditioning company, Ramco, who showed up within 4 hours of contact and was able to fix the problem within 20 minutes. I subsequently contacted Choice Warranty with my extreme unhappiness in how this was handled and submitted the receipt from Ramco asking for reimbursement. The representative said she would research it, but didn't contact me back for over a week (after I had to call multiple times). When she finally called all she would say is that she stood behind her technician and refused any reimbursement for the charge, nor would refund any money for the remainder of the yearly contract I had prepaid.
According to the Choice warranty contract, they are to fix the problem per the agreement that states:
A home warranty provides repair or replacement of all covered systems and appliances that were in the home and in proper operating condition on the agreement effective date, and that have been properly installed and maintained, no matter their age, make or model.
They did not do this.
Choice Home Warranty maintains the following:
All CHW Service Vendors are pre-screened, licensed, and independently insured. Performance is constantly monitored to ensure quality work and professionalism. Your satisfaction is our biggest priority.
The behavior of Walker Heating and Air was anything but professional
I did not have my air conditioning fixed at all and the time it took for anyone to respond to me was extensive. I have also contacted multiple people at Choice Home Warranty over the last four months and received nothing but a standard 'this was not covered and nothing we can do'. I will never use this company again and hope that nobody else does either. They are not a reputable company in my opinion.

on 12/8/2020 I contacted chw about a roof leak since I paid extra for roof coverage. they sent someone from a small appliance place and said they were licensed for roofing, a man and woman rolls up in a white escalade with no latters. they come in and take 4 pictures in the bathroom and go out in the backyard about 50 feet from the house and take 2 more pictures and all the pictures were taken from a cell phone. needless to say that they had no intentions on getting on the roof to check things out. a few days later I get a email from chw saying that it was not covered so I called and complained and they assigned my case to crystal green and when she contacted me she tried to call the technician and they would not answer, so she said she would try some more.. well I never heard back from her so I called back and got a hold of lakishma, crystal's associate. she reassigned the case to a roofing company that does not even want anything to do with chw, so I called chw back again and finially they assigned the case to another roofing company and he came out and looked and said it was flashing and would submit it but he said that they won't pay for it. he has tried so many times. so my recommendation is to stay away from choice home warranty I have a friend that does home inspections and I will tell him to steer the people away from them.. they are not very reputable!

Choice Home Warranty Sent a mechanic to fix my heat and it never got done the worst everything is never covered

Sent hvac guy to fix my heat he came 5 days after I called them check the system and said I needed a part check with the company said it was covered. Took my money 4 weeks later no heat and company said they were trying to get him he calls a said he would come and never shows up using electric space heaters to sleep at night. My 82 year old mother in law lives with us neither the warranty company or the hvac guy have any morals. I hired a local guy to fix it done in 1 day. Thanks for nothing never would use either again. By the way i'm a realtor would never recommend this company it's a rip off

Choice Home Warranty Repair

I am asking everyone to stay away from this company. This company is a fraud i dont even know how they are business. I will do everything in my power to prevent anyone else get in their trap. I ve been with them for 3 years, never call for any service. Today is December 30th and i have been trying to get my diswasher and fridge repair since May. Finally last week i made a last attempt they finally said they will have some come over to look at them and will be a service charge of $ 65. I clearly asked the agent if it will be a service fee for each one he said oh no just one service. When the technician pull and started to work on diswasher and eife was emptying the fridge, he replied he doesn't fix Fridge end up paying him the service charge. I call choice back they oh no it should be one service and that's what we have in the work order. Few day later another technician showed up for the fridge and requested another service charge. I proceeded to call choice again the agent told me he canse that they say it was gping te one service but since the last person didn't do it i would have to pay the service fee when asked hom to speak to a supervisor he hung up the phone on me even the technician that was standing there couldn't believe it. It had such a nightmare with this company. Plesse stay away from them. They charge but when something broke they sre not available. Prior to that i had a gas leak after waiting for 2 month i had to pay another company over $300 to fix
