09/15/2023 I made a payment of $500 to CHI St. Lukes for a procedure (heart catheterization) that was going to take place on 09/19/2023. The procedure was cancelled due to a scheduling issue on the doctor's (William Lam) end. 09/21/2023 I called CHI St. Luke's Billing department (832)355-3081 and spoke to Sherry. She told me that she sent the refund...

To whom this may concern, The purpose of this email is initiate a formal complaint about services received by Dr. William Stubb. On 9/19/23 I visited the ER (West Holcombe location) with severe itching that started on the right side of my back and extended to the beginning of my right armpit. The itching was accompanied by slightly red raised bumps that...

CHI St. Luke’s Health Emergency Room diagnosis

On June 9, 2023 I went to the Livingston ER and complained of left chest pain when lying down, dry cough and severe abdominal cramping with diarrhea and fainting. Dr. Paz did not mention the pneumonia in my left lung that was obviously causing the sharp pains and dry cough. He diagnosed me with Colitis which I believe is correct for the abdominal issues however when I expressed my concerns about the left side chest pain he remarked "flank pain is associated with Colitis". Not sure what a flank is but I am 100% sure Colitis does not produce this stabbing pain and dry cough when lying down. My follow up visit with Dr. Sandra Hutchinson the following week revealed that there was pneumonia in my left lung on the CT Scan that Dr. Paz did not discover, likely due to him only reading the offsite Radiologists Summary which as it turns out was also a mistake and it should have been included in the summary.

Desired outcome: I want to discuss this problem to seek a resolution. I will be getting numerous bills for the ER visit that left me still battling Pneumonia which I believe to be Medical Negligence.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Food served

My husband was a patient at St. Luke’s the woodlands the last 4 days.
First, the staff on the 5th floor was wonderful, kind, and professional at all times. He got excellent care from nurses and doctors.
BUT — During this time, the food he has been served has been horrible. The meals were mostly some type of something that was not edible. During our last few visit to several different hospitals there have been no complaints about anything, but I’m not sure who St. Luke’s food company is, but are horrible.
During these days I have gone down to eat in the cafe and it was fair. I do not understand how a soda machine can stay out of order for three days, and no unsweetened tea is available at all. I was told the person running it decided on sweet tea only.

Desired outcome: Someone needs to address the food and drink offered to patients and family. It can only get better!

The lady at the front desk was very polite but the lady in the triage her name is Brooke. She was very rude. My mom was brought in by ambulance and I was just wanting to be with her. She came in from not being able to breathe. well my mom is 78 years old and she’s all I have, no compassion at all. Told me to just go over there and have a seat very rude.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Billed as outpatient when I was admitted to hospital.

I had hiatal hernia surgery on July 19th.

At preop visit, Dr. Lloyd told me she may have to admit me.

I continue to receive a bill for the first 23 hours ( as an outpatient), when I was admitted from surgery to a room. ( 7/19-7/22)!

The hospital also filed Medicare part B instead of part A( I have A only).

I have called for times to explain that the claim needed to be refilled correctly. I should not owe anything! ( I have United Healthcare as well as Medicare part A!

I need someone that can contact me and straighten this out. It’s obviously a mistake made by billing department.

Thank you. Dolores Hussey [protected])

Desired outcome: Help in correcting this matter. UHC has already paid their part, the rest should be filled with Medicare Part A, so that I do not continue to receive a $1,900. bill!

CHI St. Luke’s Health ER visit

8/1/2021 - evening visit - WORST HOSPITAL EVER! Gave them our insurance and ID. was ushered to a room and then expensive tests were ordered. The lady then brought our ID and insurance to us but NEVER said anything. Then we find out the insurance was canceled the day before and we had no idea. They NEVER checked it. Then sent a $6000+ bill and was unwilling to work with us. AFTER 6 months they sent us to financial help and come to find out you have to contact them before 6 months or they are unwilling to help you. we tried to negotiate with them and they could not have cared less about us. So had they done their due diligence and checked the insurance instead of just holding it for the few minutes they had it we would not be in this positing and would have paid our $250 co pay and been done. they sent it to collections instead and they want a $1600 lump sum payment and be done or make payments and pay the whole $6000 Plus. nobody there would even help and they didn't care.

Desired outcome: They need to STOP collections and charge us the $250 ER visit that we should have been charged. Not doing their due diligence and checking insurance took away our right to make decisions about our health.

The E.R. and 24th floor, IF admitted in are the 2 worst portions of Chi St. Luke's Hospital in the med center. I wish to GOD I could've been admitted to Methodist, and because of OBUMMERCARE, that's the only reason I haven't been able to go there since 2015. I was told by someone in their E.R., "unless you've been stabbed, have a gunshot wound, or are about to die, we can't help you" I was told HOURS AFTER showing up to get someone to help me. Only a few months later from that time frame, I did end up there and was almost dead. Once you get to the point of BEGINNING to heal, they want to boot you out SO badly. Anything to give up that bed you're in! Literally, just think about assembly lines and then you know what kind of care and writing exiting dates down on the board before anything has even been figured out, shows one everything they could need to know. I almost died in January. I have been told my heart and lungs were on life support. When I woke up, I had been so drugged up but had wonderful doctors, UNTIL taken to the "regular" rooms. The care I was given by the CCU unit was phenomenal. The care I got from DOCTORS on the 24th floor WAS HORRIBLE. They don't give a rat's arse about anything as long as they can boot you out. If anything were to go and revert back to serious illness, I would fight to be taken to Memorial Hermann SW or Methodist. Great care at both places, especially Methodist. I can't wait for OBUMMERCARE to be overturned so I can choose where I would rather go to get help, if I must go to a hospital.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Mychart access

I have been attempting since September 30th, 2022, to access mychart. slsh.com online unsuccessfully.

On October 4th, 2022, after unsuccessful attempting to access mycharh. sleh.com again, I called the scheduling phone number to see if the problem was with my server and was told the system was down and they had been for a "few" days and should be backup soon.

On October 6th, 2022, I again was unable to access mychart.com.

Today, October 10th, 2022, after failing to access the mychart. sleh.com again, I called scheduling to be told that the system was still down.

I am a retired health care worker and these circumstances would have been absolutely unacceptable. CHI ST. LUKE'S is a world/international renown institute and I find it unbelievable that in this day of technology that a client care issue CANNOT be addressed and corrected in a timely manner the resources of this corporation.

This is a matter that should be of one of the foremost/highest issues for the IT Department. I know that if the billing department was having this type of issues the problem would be taken care of within 24 hours or a new company would be taking over ST LUKE'S IT/Computer contract.

I believe that ST LUKE'S should have to compense it's clients for everyday they are without their mychart. sleh.com access that has been promoting as part of the services they provide. I am sure if the food service area or pharmancy department or matericals management of housekeeping or staffing of their system was down related to physical or environmental events, clients are compensated.

Desired outcome: Compensation, be it calls from users within their system to clients or direct contact from ST LUKE'S in regards to this issue

CHI St. Luke’s Health Customer service

I called the medical records number a total of 3 times on 9/26/22 and there was no answer or return call. I was able to reach someone and requested that the representative email a medical release form. I had to call back a total of 4 times and I have still not received it. This is a simple request. This is delaying my critical illness for my cancer treatment. This is unacceptable. How many times does a patient have to provide an email in anticipation of receiving a medical authorization form? It seems like a simple request. This warrants that someone overlook this department. It is crucial that a patient receive records in a timely manner so that I receive my cancer benefits. There is a lack of competency. I would not recommend this hospital. If I have a choice, I will go elsewhere. I am still waiting for an email and it's day 2...

Desired outcome: I would like my authorization form emailed, as I have requested it 4 times already.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Rude staff

I had gone to this established at 12:00-12:30am to be seen, as I’m being triaged the Nurse Practitioner introduces her self and start asking the basic questions as I’m trying to explain what is going on and she’s cutting me off being rude, saying that I might have a pinched nerve somewhere. I had stated previous times that I was not in any pain, but my hands are starting to go numb she asked me “ what exactly I was there for.” I proceeded to answer with I am trying to make sure that I’m not having stroke with my hands starting to going numb. She then tells the Registered Nurse to give me anxiety medication so I could relax because she thinks I could’ve been having an anxiety attack.

Desired outcome: I’d appreciate a response and an apology for not listening to what the patient has told them to better assist them

CHI St. Luke’s Health ER visit by Dr.Stubbs

I received poor service at Chi St. lukes baylor 1/09/2021. I felt that Dr. Stubbs profiled me based off previous information in my medical records. I explained I was having stomach pains and that I was sexually assaulted. He was so unprofessional until I was so upset I told him I was not happy and didn't want him to treat me. Then months later I received a bill for a co pay from the ER. Gloria Cotton-Smith told me that the doctor visit and services provided by STLuke's is to two different bills. I feel that it's not fair to bill someone from the ER that wasn't satisfied with the doctor visit I disputed and still had to pay co pay because I had blood pressure taken etc. I feel the ER need to change they policy I feel that it's consider fraud to still bill a person that walked out and was a victim to being sexually assaulted. I do not recommend visiting this ER.

Desired outcome: I feel that I’ve should have never been billed and I feel it was the doctor responsible to let ER facility know about my concern and waiver the visit completely

I was scheduled for Cataract surgery in April of 2022 and a payment of $120.00 was charged for the doctor, which was cancelled and rescheduled for August 9, 2022. On August 8 in the evenng, the billing department called that the payment of $120.00 was refunded by mail on August 3, 2022 and another payment of $120.00 needed to be paid before the surgery for August 9, 2022. Why refund the money on August 3, 2022 when the surgery is on August 9, 2022? Needlesss to say the surgery was cancelled for incompetent of the billing department.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Emergency room staff

On 11/19/2021 I was brought in by medics for a psychiatric review. When I arrived I was asked to change into hospital clothing. At the time of my arrival I was extremely dehydrated and asked for water. The nurse who was assigned to me was extremely rude. She did tell me I needed to be seen by a dr. I did drink some water from the sink. The water was room temperature. The nurse came up to take my temperature. First she stuck the thermometer under my tongue and got a false reading. Then she stuck it under my arm and also got a false reading. She claimed that because I drank water from the sink she was unable to get a good reading. Honestly it wasn't because I drank water from the sink that she was unable to get a good reading. The third time she used the thermometer that scans your head and got a good reading. Chances are her thermometer was broken or she wasn't taking it correctly. Also that same nurse yelled at several patients while I was there. She seemed extremely unhappy with her position. If this is how she treats all patients then maybe she needs to look for another job. It's not the first encounter with this nurse.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Surgery 2nd floor the woodland chi st luke's hospital

Good evening, I had foot surgery and was discharged within 1hr after procedure was over after having been under general anesthesia. The hospital did NOT confirm that Encompass Rehab was ready to receive me. So when I was transported to rehab they wouldn't accept me and the hospital wouldn't take me back. I'm a 76 yes old, heart and stroke patient discharged within no where to go but home AND without home health. I've since discovered Encompass made a mistake and failed to properly submit my paperwork for Aetna Medicare to approve and it's Director called an apologized to my Doctor's Office. It is now 8pm nearly 12hrs after release from St Luke's and still no resolution.

Desired outcome: I want a written formal apology mailed to me.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Emergency room staff on 9/6/2021 from 8-9pm

I am frustrated with the doctor on duty last night and her nursing staff. She couldn't interpret my son's X-ray report nor provide any additional information. She first told me that he broke one bone in his hand, after she returned for the second time, I asked if the break would need to be set and is she going to do that for us and she told me it was two bones in his hand that were broken and that she doesn't do anything for that. I asked her to see the images and she said she couldn't do that, The nurses came in to splint him and the older male nurse came in at 8:45 to discharge us and couldn't read the radiologist report correctly to specifically tell me what bones were broken, but that he thought there were THREE fractures, he wouldn't give me the images to take to the orthopedic because he said the disc burner was broken, I asked for the images to be emailed, after not receiving the images, I called the radiology department this morning (while sitting at the orthopedic office) and the gal on duty shared she could only burn them to a CD, and she would do that momentarily for me to pick up, I asked if the machine was broken and she said no. As the orthopedic read the radiologist description of the break, the radiologist referred to the break in the metatarsal instead of metacarpal…the nurse and doctor in the ER said images weren't really needed, just the radiologist report…that clearly cannot be used. The orthopedic took new x-rays and showed the images to us immediately and identified where the TWO breaks were in his hand. Sara and Rich Keene (Howard Keene) 43 Woodmoor PL, The Woodlands, TX 77354. [protected]

Desired outcome: I would like to have all fees waived for my waisted time in that ER last night.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Locked in the clinic after everyone left except one person.

Today right before lunch I saw Dr Ho and he was explaining to me why he made a comment on my record I disagreed with. He walked out of the exam room and shut the door.
I waited and waited for about 20 minutes or so before I decided to open the door and find out why I'm still in the exam room waiting. The nurse never came back in to say you are done. You can leave now.
I opened the door same time a woman, not a nurse, opened the door from the employees only room. I asked her why am I still waiting.
She had no idea. She said. "I can let you out"
The door to the waiting room and the clinic door were both locked. She used her key to open the doors for me.
No one else was in the clinic offices or anywhere.
I had been forgotten.
I'm just glad she was there to unlock the doors.

Desired outcome: An apology from clinic would be nice.

CHI St. Luke’s Health Hannah the emergency room nurse she’s there tonight

Hannah is really rude and nasty. I asked her about my mom, she's been sitting in the lobby for 8 hours. Why? That's not a charity hospital and Covid is still live. My mom is 72 years old, she doesn't need to be sitting in the lobby for 8 hours. If they not going to help her let her go home. She's been really sick allllll day there's no need to keep her waiting. Hanna kept hanging up the phone in my face when I called, but little do she know I was sitting outside the whole time when she did it. If she treat me and my mom like that I can't even imagine how she treat her other patients. She's probably racist.

Desired outcome: Somebody needs to let her know if she doesn’t like her job she needs too quit with he4 nasty and racist attitude

CHI St. Luke’s Health Colonoscopy extortion

I was promised that that colonoscopy procedure would be at NO COST to me. I expressed multiple times that I DID NOT WANT the procedure, if it would cost me any amount and that I would wait until I was fully insured on Medicare (a 9-month wait). I was told three times by employees of CHI St. Luke's Health that there would be NO CHARGE to me!
Months later, I received a bill for $1508.24! My insurance had paid $7, 105.09 already, for a procedure that cost on average $2853 in the USA. The highest cost for this procedure in the USA is $5412 according to Google, and CHI St. Luke's Health charged $8, 613.33! This is extortion and it is OUTRAGEOUS!
My Covid-19 screening was May 7, 2020, and the procedure was on May 8, 2020. There were eight people in the operating room; many more that the procedure required.
So far, CHI St. Luke's Health is ignoring me and continuing to send bills to me, although I've asked twice for someone to call me about removing the charge. The lying by CHI St. Luke's Health employees continues…

Desired outcome: Zero out my balance
