opening a new Account
I called before going online with the paperwork for a new account.
1. I was told that I could open a bank account with a hard inquiry on my credit report.
2. I was also told that once I put in my legal address in, I could enter a mailing address - outside the USA.
3. I setup the micro deposits to access my bank to transfer money to the new Schwab account as I had email confirmation the account was fully complete,
after 4 days.
Upon calling Schwab Bank the next day, I was told the account was frozen until I get Equifax to release my credit file to them. They told me there is a document from Equifax being sent to my legal address in the USA. I asked them to send it to my mailing address overseas, I was refused and they would not enter my mailing address into their records. I would NOT authorize a hard pull inquiry on my credit file, Citing I was lied to by the previous call on account inquiry, I closed the account. I'm Glad I didn't fund it.
I am a TD Ameritrade customer who will soon be forced into Schwab due to the merger. I have been living overseas for 15 years and a long time happy TD customer.
Desired outcome: Truth in customer queries on opening accounts., accept my mailing address as TD has, No hard pull inquiry on the credit file. (Soft pull is OK).
Account closure disbursements of funds
Ive had my charles schwab account open at least 2 months now after depositing my unemployment checks to the account my account has been blocked I called in and verified myself by phone the lock was removed and after attempting to place a transaction that very next day the lock was back in place I again contacted charles schwab about the removal of the lock and was told I would have to send in my id even tho ive had already been verified this process was a ongoing 3 week thing and at the end I was informed my accounts were closed and. To contact charles schwab about setting ups transfer of my available funds upon contacting charles schwab they inform me thiers another lock and the department that takes the lock off only can recieve email are very behind this is the same department who im still awaiting verification from I truly believe they are non existent and with my account closed thier should be no lock charles schwab werote me the letter stateing to contact regarding my money and im left with the department thats too busy and has no contact phone line with the bank or any charles schwab customers sound like a whole bunch of bull to me give me my money you have been witholding for months
Desired outcome: Disburment of my available balance at close
Lack of Integrity
I recently spent nearly five months working on a home equity line of credit request with Charles Schwab Bank. I worked with James O'Neal. There never really was an application process; questions came one at a time spread out over countless weeks. There were a few return calls but mostly I had to call and ask what was going on and what the next step was. There always was one additional request before approval. In five months I never received an approval. My impression is that they simply didn't want my business and were too dishonest to say so. I finally gave up and got three acceptances from other banks in about a weeks time. All the others, Bank of the West, US Bank, and Doubletree had clear-cut application and approval procedures.
Don't waste your time with Charles Schwab Bank and their mortgage department. (I should add this department is separate from the securities department which continues to provide excellent service, in my experience).
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
