Channel View Hotel be carefull of this employer

please read my farewell letter which is self explanatory and be carefull if you come a cross with this employer:

Calabar, 28th July 2010

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Business associated,

I am writing to all of you this open letter to explain the reason of my forced swift departure from Calabar which was without notice and it did not left chance for me to say bye to all of you.

Last week my Visa consultant, appointed by Channel View Hotel, delivered the “expatriated quota” as a GM to CVH to be endorsed in my passport. The said action, according to the Immigration Law of Nigeria, must be done at the Embassy of Nigeria in the country of residence of the recipient. I am from Italy.

On the 24th ultimo the PA of Chairman Chief Ekpenyong ( Ekondo Bank)requested for my passport on behalf of Chairman to arrange the said endorsement at the Embassy of Nigeria in Douala, Cameroon.

I told him that this is contrary to the Law and I cant accept to be part of an illegal action being not a resident of Cameroon and in any case this exercise I was able to do it comfortably while in Italy for my leave.

On the 25th Sunday the PA came again with the same request but I refused to give my passport.

Monday the 26th at 07.15 am arrived in my room the PA with the company’s Executive Director Mr. Junior Ekpenyong plus the hotel’s administrative officer Mr. Udofia, the IT officer Mr. Ola and a security guard and I was told to quickly pack all my belonging and to go back in Italy since Chairman does want me anymore in the State of Cross River.

My office computer, my personal net book and my mobile were cleaned by all kind of files and pictures related with the hotel as I was working in a strictly sensitive department of I do not know which kind of secret establishment.

I was quite surprised for the action taken since in 20 years employments in Africa I never heard about something like this.

I was supplied with the air ticket to get in Lagos and I was told the return ticket with Alitalia for the same Monday 26th, which the employer must provide me according to the Letter of Appointment, I was to found it in my email box while in Lagos due to the travel agency arrangement. Moreover while I requested for my monthly salary to be paid none replied to me.

Being very much aware of the fact that Alitalia is not available on Monday I was escorted by hotel’s security to Calabar airport and I left.

Of course I did not found any email with the return ticket to Italy and no reply to my email sent to the Executive Director and PA requesting for money to buy the ticket was received and also my phone calls were not answered from the Executive Director Mr. Junior Ekpenyong.

I did not discourage myself and with the assistance of a Nigerian friend I was accommodated for the night and I paid 176, 000 NGN for the Alitalia ticket and on the 27th evening I flew to Italy.

Such kind of action were typical of the barbaric society which was some centuries a go and of the Slavery era which in any case ended some 130 years a go and maybe having been Calabar one of the centre of slave’s departure and being the Chairman Chief Ekpenyong from Calabar he took this action as a revenge for what the white peoples did to its ancestors. In any case he knows better the reason why he act like this.

I have no much words to comment such episode from which I am still to be fully recover due to the high stress in which I fell and which, just for your information, it happened with some other hotel’s officers during my short stay at CVH and before that.

In any case it has been a pleasure and great honor working with you in Calabar for the past four months.
I would like also to take this opportunity to say few words as my thanks are addressed to all the head of departments, staff, business associates and Guests that supported me from the beginning until now.
A special thanks to the IT Manager who with his little competence allowed me to retrieve all of my email addresses in my email box at CVH in spite the closure of the same
I wish to all of you the best for a personal and professional future.
