Capital Meats Seafood and steak

I was scammed by captial meats. The salesperson lied and said three of my neighbors ordered. Well that was a lie. The steaks are gray. Look bad. The fish was not frozen when I opened to put in my freezer. I am a single mom and got swindled and lied too. I paid $200 for this disgusting food. I was better off going to the local farmers market. The sales person talked to fast. I feel I was taken advantage of by the salesman.

Desired outcome: A refund of my $200

Capital Meats I am complaining about the capital meats products

Yes I have a complaint against this company, there were two people a amn and a woman in a whit pickup truck came up in our driveway selling this capital meats, they showed us their products which at the time looked good to us and we bought the products at a discounted price so they said we purchased this meat on june the 30th of 2020 well the first time we tried it was the 4th of july weekend we fixed about 4 steaks from it and they were really tough we couldn't eat them and so I gave about 4 0r 5 to my son to take home and try them and he reported back to me that his steaks were tuff also, so I tried baking some of the fish, and it had no taster either, and then I tried frying some of the fish and it was the same way (no taste) so I am asking you to come and pick up the remander of you meat products and I want a full refund of my money I know now that I got taken my husband and I are 70 years old and we need our money back, the meat is still in our freezer and needs to be picked back up, I want it gone from my freezer and if I have to I will report you to the food and drug administration on just what has occured I am requesting a full refund sent to gurney bartley 2030 bowling fork rd. Yes, the meat was tuff and not at all what I expected. It also looked like nice size portions but after thawing it out and opening the packages I found that there was a lot of water infused into the meats. If they come back here they are going to hear from me. I live in a mobile home park and told many of the neighbors and I'm sure they aren't going to answer their door. The one thing good was that I didn't buy their WHOLE 'DEAL'!

Capital Meats unethical behavior

First of all, 2 guys showed up at my house on 6/4/19 in NC, one of them knocking on the front door, after driving right past a No Trespassing sign. I went out the back door to see who it was and what they wanted. As I go around the corner to the driveway which is right at the end of my house, one guy is standing in front of my son's car pissing in our driveway, and the other guy is in the van. When the guy in the van sees me coming, he toots the horn apparently to warn the guy pissing in my driveway, then gets out really quick and comes toward me. He tells me he is from Capital Meats, and asked if I want to buy some steaks, chicken, or pork. I told him no I was not interested, and he said not even if I give you something for free. I told him no. He then stated they were on their way back to Bristol, and thought they would stop to see if we wanted to buy something. He then asked if I knew anyone else down the road. I told him no, and they left after the other guy got done pissing in my driveway and got his pants zipped back up. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! As a company, you should try to have more decent employees! They better never show up at my house again.

Capital Meats pushing elderly family member into purchasing foods

my father, an elderly, was "strongly" persuaded into buying more chicken tenders that he will eat in 2 months.! let alone the different flavors he did not understand. He recently lost our mother, tried to be an honest person, and felt sorry for this salesman, although he couldnt recount the story he got from the salesman, he's 81 and has early dimension.. He sometimes doesnt think clearly or thoughtfully and I honestly believe he was taken advantage of. 180$ for this chicken was devastating to his bank account, he doesnt spent but that on a whole month.
your sales people should be more sympathetic and empathetic to the elderly population.. this is a horrible practice. He lives in falling waters wv, please stay away from him-norman baker

Capital Meats meat products

So about a week ago around dinner time we had someone knocking on our door, thinking it was our land Lord I simply said come in not knowing it would be sales people, especially not meat product sales people. Worst decision ever, the sales person and trainee were both very pushy with the sale and also told us the story that it was his last case of beef and chicken. We told them we weren't too interested because we were short on making our ends meet to which he kept lowering the prices and bringing the cases of meat to show us. To be honest the steaks being frozen seemed like a great deal when he dropped the price, convincing us to finally run our CC to pay for it. So we ended up with a whole lot of beef steaks in our freezer to which at the moment seemed like the best deal for that kind of steaks etc.. until we decided to cook some up. The burgers that were supposedly not gonna shrink ended up shrinking very much, the NY strip steak that looked so yummy in that vacuum sealed bag also cooked up to nothing and tasted funny and it was too tender for it to be NY steak. All in all that was the very 1st and also the very last time we are ever buying from them or salesperson that come to our door, if I could give them a -4 star on the review I would

Capital Meats sexual harassment

On at least three occasions in the past few years I have been approached by people in Capital Meats vans. Each time I have been minding my own business, hanging out in the yard of my home. On every occasion I have found them to be very pushy. I always tell them immediately after being approached that I am not interested in what they are selling, and each time they start right into a hard sell anyway, continuing to address me, asking me questions like "where do you get your meat?", telling me that they're meat is really good, telling me that they have great deals. In every instance they don't stop talking to me even after I've told them that I am not interested.

Yesterday, this annoying treatment was further accompanied by sexual harassment from someone inside of a Capital Meats van. I think CM's method of trying to find customers is very poor. Further, I don't eat much meat, but when I do I only eat organic from highly trusted sources. I would never buy meat from a company who presents itself this way.

Capital Meats quality of meat

I recently purchased the Premium Steak and Premium Chicken options from a driver who came to my door. The meat looked great in the packages
and we were so looking forward to some fine eating however the meat is so tough that my husband has wound up throwing it away because it too tough to even cut with a steak knife! I have tried marinating it, grilling, frying and baking to no avail. We now have hundreds of dollars worth of meat that is inedible. Even the chicken is tough! I will never have anything to do with Capital Meat again

Capital Meats prepackaged meat cuts, zero customer support, false information

A Capital Meats, Inc. van arrived at my home at dinner time with such "A great offer" and a sob story about "his last 3 boxes, he just wanted to get home." I'm handicapped, I had my 5 yr old granddaughter and I fell for the scam. The rep said his name was Ronnie. He wrote his number on my receipt and assured me (and my husband via a video call) that IF we had any problem or were dissatisfied he would replace, refund, and schedule a time to pick up the steaks if for some reason we were not happy. But he knew that wouldn't happen because the number he gave me the people answering it say there's never been a Ronnie at the number. Calling the 866 "Customer Number" is useless. No matter the time of day, the call goes to voice mail and they WILL NOT return the call.

Buyer Beware. This is a total rip off. The steaks are so tough, grisselly and have a peculiar odor. It's not fit for human consumption. IF you are approached or see these people in your neighborhood do not buy anything.

Capital Meats the van

Why is my house out of my entire neighborhood singled out for the shady looking people to come up to my house? I have registered no soliciting with my township. Yet, they continue to come to my house to sell meat. Which means they are selling illegally as they have not registered with the township to solicit in the township. Ii see them drive up pass every other house and stop in front of mine. This happens every two weeks. I have never and would never purchase meat from a truck. This happened prior to christmas last and I had a package on the porch. I work from home and saw the truck come. I felt that the guy was caught trying to steal my package. It just so happens, I have another package due today. This makes me think they are stopping at houses that are getting deliveries in order to commit theft.

Capital Meats poor quality meat, poor salesmanship

The truck smelled like Marijuana. I informed the salesman I was only interested in healthy meats...he offered a combination of seafood, steak, and chicken. For over $700, I did not want chicken tenders or eggrolls included in my order and did not realize these items were tucked inside my cases. The chicken was so salty I couldn't eat it, so that's another 3-4 boxes of meat thrown away. What a complete garbage business.

Capital Meats salesman

They are scammers. They prey on older people and women. Poor quality of meat. Bought meat one time it was awful. I have had 2 encounters with them. Years ago they knocked on my mothers door (elderly and almost completely blind). They could see her sitting inside thru the window on the door. When she didn't respond to the door they opened the door and invited themselves in. She repeatedly told them she wasn't Interested. Feeling uneasy and nervous about them being inside her home she eventually agreeed to purchase some meat from them so they would leave. She agreed to purchase a box of chicken. The total was $70 some dollars. When she got out her checkbook they asked if she could pay cash. She had been saving cash to purchase heating fuel with so she had some cash on hand in the cookie jar. They helped her to count out the money because remember I said she's nearly blind. He put her chicken in the deep freezer for her and left. 10 minutes later when I arrive they are gone she tells me what has happened. I checked her money in the cookie jar they had gotten $70 some dollars off of her and when I get the chicken out of the freezer it is a box with 12 individually wrapped boneless skinless chicken breast for $70. Fast forward two months when they pull into my driveway. I met the man (same man) on the porch. I tell him I'm not interested and I remind him of my mother that he sold chicken to and how he should be ashamed of himself and that he is not welcome on our property along with the property that my mother lives on and not to come back. The conversation continues to escalate as he refuses to leave and I threatened to call the cops. The man acts very agitated red-faced and approaching me closer and closer while his voice is continuing to get louder and more angry. At this point my dog begins to growl and bark at the man. I am having to hold my dog back. He is telling me that the dog better not bite him. The dog is getting more protective the closer he gets to me. At that moment my husband pulls into the driveway. He gets out of the vehicle, he can tell that something is going on, he asked the man if there's a problem. I proceeded to tell my husband that I had asked him to leave and that he was refusing to leave. The man began to walk towards his truck and under his breath mumbling and cussing as he leaves. A month later our dog ends up Poisoned With antifreeze in our yard. The dog was confined to our yard with a wireless fence so he could not leave the yard and did not have access to antifreeze. Draw your conclusion! The vet confirmed it was antifreeze and a substantial amount. Now let's fast-forward two years later a different man approaches my sister-in-law next door she is home alone with her children. When she answers the door and tell him she's not interested and doesn't have time to talk with him he stand on her porch and continues to get louder and more aggressive. She stepped outside onto the porch and closes the door because her children are on the inside she tells the man to leave she's not interested in buying any meat. He's trying to convince her to go to his van to look at what he has. When she refuses and tells him no he proceeded to call her ugly names and begin to cuss loudly enough for her children to hear it inside. She returns inside and locks the door. He stands on the porch and doesnt go so she calls my husband and explains what is going on. My husband tells his sister that he will be right down. My husband goes outside and sees the man pulling out of her driveway and watches him come up the road and pull into our driveway. My husband meets the man at the driveway and tells him that he's not interested in purchasing anything and begans to walk away. The man begins to yell at my husband and say, "wait man you don't even know what I'm selling." My husband turns and tells the man that he knows exactly what he's selling and that he's not welcome at our home and he's not buying anything and he doesn't appreciate the way that he treated his sister by calling her ugly names and that he did not appreciate him being aggressive and cussing in front of his nephews. My husband tells him to get his van out of our driveway and leave. My husband began to walk away from the driveway and the man gets out of his van and walked towards my husband. My husband asked him what he is doing. He told him to get back in the van and leave that he is trespassing. My husband again begins to walk away from the man across the yard and the man follows him continuing to get louder and more aggressive toward my husband pleading for him to buy meat. As the conversation escalated the man refuses to get out of our yard or driveway. My husband ends up assaulting the man before he will get into his truck and leave. Now that's harassment! This company should be shut down. We have discussed this with people in out community and apparently this is their normal attitude.

Capital Meats steaks

A capital meat truck came to my business this week, after 45 minutes of telling the salesman I was not interested... Simply did not need any meat... I bought a box of fillets... Just to get rid of him! Last night we had the steak... Worst steak ever... Tough... No taste... Just awful! I hope he comes back just one more time... I won't even feed this to my dog!

Capital Meats awful food... worse customer service

The filet mignon I bought was atrocious. It was so tough I couldn't even get my steak knife through it. The crab legs were about the size of my pinky and smelled so fishy...even frozen...that I had to throw them away. The lobster was broken all up into pieces...and was brown. When I wrote to complain...I was ignored. When I started leaving comments on their Facebook page...they blocked me. I called multiple times and not only could I not get to a real person...but I was on hold for 15 minutes just trying to leave a message. This company is a total joke.

Capital Meats deceitful salesman, poor quality meats

Two Salesmen arrived at our home April 28, 2015 the same time my husband was coming home at end of workday and I was preparing dinner. This is an obvious training tactic I have noticed from reading other complaints about Capital Meats, Inc. The sales “pitch” was a neighbor had ordered this delivery but could not receive the order which consisted of: Lobster, Shrimp, Cod Filets, Crab Legs, Boneless Beef Filets, Boneless Chicken Breasts. This original order was valued at $700 but for us if we agreed to purchase could be had for $538.94. We were caught at an unguarded hectic time and were being further pressured by Salesman James Gandy to hurry up so he would not be late picking up his daughter. So without asking more questions or even looking at the meats and seafood because they were all sealed within larger boxes we agreed to purchase the order. Gandy quickly asked where our freezer was and within minutes had unloaded the boxes into our freezer with the help of his assistant. Unknown to us many other items were put in our freezer which we never would have purchased: Chicken Fritters, Delmonico steaks, Hamburgers.

When Gandy gave me the receipt I noticed it was not itemized by what we purchased. He also said we could not pay by credit card even though the Capital Meats receipt indicated credit cards were offered as a form of payment. We relented, gave him a check and Gandy was out the door.
I had buyer’s remorse that very evening but did not look into my freezer until a few days later.
I did however call my bank the day after delivery and discovered Gandy’s hurry was to cash my check before the bank closed. This was his hurry up pushy scheme, not picking up a daughter!

The quality of the meats and seafood are atrocious with the one exception of the Boneless Chicken Breasts. The Cod Filets are scraps of triangle shaped breaded fish of some type, NOT COD. The Delmonico steaks are all gristle. The hamburgers have a strange white filler that is not beef, they are greasy, our pet dog will not eat them. The Lobster order had 3 worthless Lobster bodies, 1 claw, no tails. The Crab Legs are the size of grasshoppers! Beef Filets are very tough, have a strange smell and color. Could possible by dairy cow beef?

I have called Capital Meats numerous times only talking to Dawn Funkhouser. She did eventually give me her boss Jeremy Foren’s telephone number who has never returned any of my voicemails. I was then referred to Jerry Schiffer who is the head of a subsidiary of Capital Meats who I now know to be the real provider of the order we received. I was assured by Dawn Funkhouser that we would not have to deal with James Gandy again. Yet now we find that Capital Meats will not deal with this complaint. Yesterday when I tried to reach Capital Meats my call went directly to a music (call/wait) loop which never ended or gave me an option to leave voicemail.

I do not think I would feel more assaulted if I had been robbed at gunpoint. Buyers Beware, this is a bait & switch scheme, if you see Capital Meats, Inc. trucks in your neighborhood be sure to let your neighbors to be aware of this scheme. If you have neighborhood watch call your contacts to have these theives removed from you neighborhood.

Capital Meats dissatisfied with sales, product and customer service

I purchased some meat from a salesman who came to my door just before I was leaving to go out on 12-18-14. He made his pitch stating that he only had a few steaks left and that I would get a special price and some free chicken if I were to purchase. He told me the meat was fresher and cheaper than I could buy in the supermarket but could not tell me the total weight of beef I was buying. He emptied the individual boxes of steak into a large box. I hurriedly put them in the freezer. When I asked about the free chicken, it was gone. He also said that my satisfaction was guaranteed and that I could replace any items I was not happy with. It wasn't until after the holidays that I first tried one of the steaks. None of them were individually marked so I did not really know what cut we were grilling but it was awful. I then realized that each piece was only about 6 ounces and my total purchase was costing me more than I could buy fresh from the Amish market and know what I was eating. I contacted Capital meats about my complaints the first week in January to arrange for a return or replacement and was told that they would not in the offices until the second week of January. When I didn't hear from them I called again and was told that I was still on the list to be contacted and that I would receive a call no later than Feb. 1. Again I did not hear from them. I called again and was told that they had to replace all of the corporate officers in that branch but they would certainly be in touch. Finally the end of February I contacted my credit card company to dispute the charges because they had not contacted me to offer any type of resolution. When Capital Meats was contacted by my credit card company they declined rescinding the order as I did not follow their return policy which was impossible as the salesman took all of the original packaging. The product was misrepresented, and I was never contacted to resolve my complaints. To make matters worse, after receiving the letter from Capital Meats stating that they would not consider my request for a refund, I tried to call the Call Center Manager responsible for the letter and the number was not in service!

Capital Meats unresponseful

This critique was intended for a company named 'Capital Meats, Inc.' (www.capitalmeats.com)
I would have given them less than a full star rating if it were possible!
These people barged into our driveway in their company van and talked their way into our house (our fault). They temporarily talked us into a purchase of frozen meats and said it would be less than $500 for a year supply. The price turned out to be $50 higher than that. After sleeping on this overnight, I changed my mind and contacted their main office by email to invoke my right to cancel within three days. But to make sure it was cancelled, I put a 'Stop Payment' on the check and asked them to come and gather their meats ASAP. The sales person was allegedly on vacation and unresponsive. Fifteen days later the meats were still in my freezer and no indication from these people when the meats would be picked up. I asked them on six different occasions by email and phone to remove them. Three weeks later I warned them that if they didn't pick them up immediately I would remove them myself. I did so, because they didn't respond, and put them in one of my large coolers with some dry ice. It has now been a month since I cancelled and the meats are still in my cooler. I tried to keep them from thawing with more dry ice, still nothing from them. So I warned them that I had done enough in an effort to keep them viable and would not spend another penny to preserve them. They have now thawed completely and unfit for human consumption and they have still not responded. I asked what they want done with them and still no response.
Now I am afraid they pulled a scam on me, but hope the “Stop Payment’ has bailed me out. But I still don’t know what to do with the thawed meats.
Be forewarned! Do not deal with these people!

Capital Meats overpricing poor quality

The cases of steak, chicken, and seafood brought to your home by door to door sales people are given to the dealers at $122 per case. The dealer will tell you your getting a free case but you're paying for it. There are 30 steaks and 12 steak burgers in a case. Count the steaks! Any price given over $122 a case is all dealer profit from marking the price up. The steaks are tough and hard to chew. They lie and say its private reserve. Read the labels on the individual boxes. The t-bones and New York strips say choice but the remaining meats are select. Meaning, you only actually get 10peices of choice steak when the entire case is promoted as private reserve. If you question them, be sure to use this info and you will see what a scam this is. The owners live in another country impervious to accountability, instead, they givie the salespeople dealer id's, thus placing the burden of legal action on the dealer and not the company. Don't be fooled.
