Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Closing the account of a deceased client of CIBC for whom I am sole executor.

The account holders name is [edited]; she has a chequing account with CIBC. I am 'sole executor' stipulated in her last and sole Will; and according to a clause in the Will, I have absolute control over all of [edited] assests. I have liquidated her RRIF with Invesco, and am dealing with another investment she had with Pimco. The manager of CIBC stated they need to know the amount of the PIMCO investment before they can proceed with closing the account. I cannot understand this as this investment has nothing to do with CIBC and they cannot demand information unrelated to [edited] CIBC account. I simply need to have the account closed. In her Will [edited] stipulated the funds were to be made available to me for my own use 'absolutely', and howsoever I deem necessary. The bank is blocking this.

Desired outcome: Release the funds of Thelma Demer's account to myself.

Re: Mortgage Registration No.: CA1963109 (the "Mortgage") over 2211 Evergreen Street, Terrace, British Columbia V8G 4S6 (the "Property")

Borrower: Evelyn Grace MacDonald (deceased)

Mortgage Reference: [protected]

I am writing to you as the Notary Public representing Colleen Pauline Froese, the surviving Joint Tenant who has sold the above-mentioned Property, scheduled to be completed tomorrow, June 21st. We have made numerous attempts to contact you via phone calls and faxes (see attached documentation), but we have not received a satisfactory response regarding the Form C Discharge for the Mortgage granted by Evelyn Grace MacDonald (Deceased) and registered in the Victoria Land Title Office under no. CA1963109 on April 5, 2011. Please note that there are no outstanding balances on this Mortgage.

Despite making over 30 phone calls and numerous faxes to both the Terrace Branch and the head office, we have not received a satisfactory response. The head office advised us to contact the Terrace Branch for the discharge, but they have not been responsive. When we contacted the head office again, they informed us that they would handle the Form C Discharge. However, no progress has been made in this regard. This has resulted in my client having to pay a large bill from my office in order to resolve this matter.

Our recent conversation with Bonny Williams from the head office revealed that although CIBC submitted a Form C Release under CB699857 today, June 20th, we have determined that the Form C Release is not in the registerable form for British Columbia. According to BC regulations, the Form C Release must be witnessed by a Notary Public or Lawyer using wet ink and then digitally signed for submission to the land title office. Unfortunately, Mr. Williams stated that there is nothing he can do, despite our explicit mention that the property sale is scheduled for tomorrow, June 21st, and we have been attempting to obtain a payout or release from CIBC since June 2nd.

To resolve this matter promptly, we require either of the following:

1. The attached Form C should be signed by an authorized signatory of CIBC in the presence of a Notary Public or Lawyer, and then returned to my office via email at [protected]@sherryanderson.ca; or

2. Alternatively, CIBC should withdraw the Form C Discharge submitted under CB699857 and sign a new Form C Discharge and resubmit for registration.

It is unreasonable for my office to spend excessive hours on the phone trying to resolve this matter or repeatedly fax documents to different branches, resulting in a circular process. I have included a condensed summary of our attempts to resolve this matter, which includes your Form C submitted under CB699857, as well as a new Form C that can be executed and forwarded to my office to expedite the resolution.

Furthermore, my office has sent requests for a Payout Statement on June 2nd and again and again and lastly on June 15th, with numerous attempted phone calls and June 20th being our last phone call attempt to resolve the matter. Unfortunately, we have not received any response from your office. Therefore, we urgently require written confirmation that there are no outstanding balances on the aforementioned Mortgage and that you will be resubmitting your Form C Discharge in registrable form or you provide a signed Form C Discharge to be provided to my office for registration.

Kindly forward your statement, registered registrable Form C Discharge or a signed registerable Form C Discharge to my office either via email at [protected]@sherryanderson.ca or via fax at [protected] as soon as possible. Your prompt assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Wire Transfer to my account in Ecuador

I have been banking with the CIBC for 30+ years, and recently retired to Ecuador. The winters in Canada were just too much for me. Trying to maintain my accounts at the CIBC have been close to impossible. I have a personal banking representative, that I've worked with for years, but she is either unable or unwilling to assist me. I'm leaning more towards unable, since the CIBC's policies lately have been geared towards restricting their customers rather than enabling them to continue using their institution. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was the inability to transfer funds from my account at the CIBC to my account in Ecuador. In order to apply for my Visa, I need to invest in a CD at a bank here. However, the CIBC will not transfer my needed funds.

Desired outcome: Transfer funds to my account.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Personal loan

Since October 2022 I have been trying to set up automatic withdrawal from my ATB account to pay the loan.

Yesterday I spoke to a Roxanne in Escalations department. She gave me [protected]@[protected]@cibc to send information I had sent the first week of April for an automatic withdrawal April 28. Which email address does NOT work.

Roxanne said they never got the information, which is a lie. Then she said if their was no funds in my account they couldn't set it up. Well April 27 regular like clock work my pension arrived.

So why they did not take it she keeps saying there was no money. Well I say BS.

The money was there. Now you want $120.00 before you will set up automatic payments. This is house tax season, my washing machine just broke, my car needs repairs, I need my teeth fixed and I am waiting for surgery. This is stressing me out!

My point is it is not my fault the payment was not taken because your company is so inept they cant set it up. Then this woman suggests I should sell my house to pay the loan. EXCUSE ME for $2000.00. Then expects me to get a CIBC account to pay the loan , what so you get more banking fees from me!

Why would I want to get an account at your bank after this issue! This was supposed to be simple, not ridiculously complicated. I understand your rules, why am I being punished for your banks inability to complete this task.

I am a Senior citizens struggling to keep afloat in my own home. Just take the payment like you are supposed to.

The nearest bank is over. 1 hour away. I cannot drive I have medical issues. I have to pay a driver $100.00 to take me. More expense to me for what?

Desired outcome: Sent up the automatic withdrawal, don't charge late fees. And leave me alone in peace please. My health is bad enough without this hassle.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Personal banking from CIBC

1. As of 28 September 2022, CIBC has rendered my two accounts unavailable till 26 October 2022 based on their internal review process.

2. I am a 74-year-old who lives on Government Pension money deposited in my checking account held by CIBC.

3. There was no written or verbal communications given by CIBC for rationalizing the unavailability of the accounts even after numerous (6) attempts to obtain such.

4. I have no visibility into the CIBC warning of Oct242022. There was no written communication from CIBC with the exception of October 18th when I was informed on the bounced checks. As of October 26th, I will

not access my accounts to answer the “warning of October 24, 2022.

5.CIBC banking system lacks transparency and ethics in business.

6. I cannot pay my rent for the place where I live nor pay for any ongoing expenses.

Desired outcome: I require that CIBC be summoned to provide access to my accounts so that I can proceed making the necessary payments for my rent, my internet and other obligations. More importantly, I require access to my government pension.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Online banking service

I am retired and reside in a Senior’s Residence and am 86 years of age and in good mental health. I have a B.Comm & an MBA.

Over the last few years I have used on-line banking successfully.

The recent change in CIBC policy in obtaining a verification code has caused a big problem.

1. I do not have a cell phone.

2. I do not have a car.

3. My telephone has an extension to it that will not allow a mechanical connection.

4. My personal e-mail addy cannot be used.

5.Up until recently I was able to use Protonmail to get a verification code - this has been discontinued.

I have been told that in order to set up my PC/Laptop/iPad I must go to my bank. However, there is no assurance that, if I get a code, it will last. I’ve been told it could be 2 days, 2 weeks, or maybe a year! And each time I need a code I have to go physically into to my branch.

6. I have 8 accounts which I monitor for myself and as a PoA for my cousin who resides with me.

Desired outcome: I would like to continue on-line banking as, without a car, it is very difficult for me to get to my branch.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Customer service

So i have been trying to contact someone about doing a charge back on my account with absolutely no success, it stars with me not knowing what my 3 digit telephone banking password is and i’ve been trying for weeks to either change it or find out what it is because i’ve never used telephone banking. I’ve tried booking an appointment and the person that called me was so unhelpful that i tried booking another appointment and that person told me to go to a cibc atm and change it there but this didn’t work, and it’s unbelievably frustrating that every avenue i try they always tell me to call the telephone banking number and i tell them i don’t know my 3 digit telephone banking password and all they say is is the process to retrieve my password that i’ve already tried and doesn’t work. For a bank Cibc has the worst customer support i have ever encountered to this day i have not been able to do the charge back and figure out my telephone banking password iam sick of wasting my time with something that should be straight forward.

Desired outcome: Talk with someone that can actually help me and not just brush me aside.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Phone App for two-step verification

I have been locked out of online banking. The reason given is that email is not secure and that verification must be done via cell phone communication. For some unspecified reason this form of verification is not available in my country of residence, Ecuador.

I was told I must download the CIBC App. This requires that I purchase a smart phone or an Apple iPad! Get outta my life!

As if this were not enough insult the CIBC App in question does the following. It collects my data to be shared: my Location, App activity, Device and Other IDs. In addition the App will collect from my personal phone: Email address, physical Address, Phone number, Photos and Videos (!), Contacts, Installed apps on my phone, and other data. Its a disgusting activity for a bank.

This is a serious violation of my privacy and IS NOT optional if I want to access my accounts via online banking.

This is a revolting practice that has nothing to do with banking nor "security,"

and everything to do with CIBC padding its profits by acting like Google.

Is CIBC on such feeble footing?

Desired outcome: Go back to email. It is far simpler and infinitely more secure.

Hi,

I want all of my service fees/other fees returned for lack of service and financial damages incurred. I do not have a cell phone or phone number so I got a secure email so I can access online banking and CIBC up and changed that. All my money refunded $5000.00 into my account would be about correct. Verify via my secure on file email! You are screwing me over and have been for 6 months for my security!?! Refund all my money $5000.00 Then I can go find a real bank that does not hurt its customers on purpose. Hello anyone there? Please email me when you fix it. I do NOT need an email about what you cannot do. I cannot stand this run around nonsense. Call you? No come see me with my $5000. Refund

Desired outcome: Remove verification from my account all it does is keep me out of my own account. Verify via secure email on file. Even though it makes me verify EVERYTIME! Full Refund of 25 years of fees time CIBC pays for its mistakes and poor policies.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Accessing online Banking thru VPN problem

I do virtually all my banking online and have for many years. I also have an Investor's Edge account trading a RRSP self-directed account.

If I try to access my normal account page through a VPN you don't allow it. I can access the Investor's Edge account.

This gives rise to less security if I have to do banking in a public access wifi area. I can see no issue with the bank allowing access through a VPN. It is more secure.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Hearing difficulty by severely hearing handicapped CIBC customer

For access to my file, my debit card number is [protected], Ema is [protected]@hotmail.com, phone [protected].

Please do not phone. I need this resolved in writing. I am a profoundly deaf Canadian who has immense difficulty when speaking to most Cibc staff when calling on the phone. Most of the time I end up with a non native English speaker and I cannot understand the speaker. Many times it takes many calls because when I seek help to get a native English speaker, i am often disconnected rather than being transferred to someone I can understand.Your service people do not know how to communicate with deaf folk especially if a non canada native accent of the speaker is present. This has gone on for a long time, today was no exception. Listen to the recording that you make for teaching purposes and you will get the picture clearly. Please respond in writing.don’t delay answering cause I am at wits end trying to deal with CIBC and please acknowledge receipt of this .. Thankyou.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] A bank that does not care about the customer

I have had an account with CIBC since the early '70's with all transactions and a usual minimum balance of 6 figures.

Today, I have the absolute minimal amount of dealings with this bank.

Why?

TERRIBLE and DISGUSTING outfit to deal with. Too large for your britches.

Today, I tried to set up a Costco Master Card via CIBC.

My credit rating is +, but YOU consider me to be a PARIAH and continue to give me a hard time.

After filling out all your information and having a solid rating with you, suddenly you claim I made an error. But, it doesn't list it nor allow me to find it to correct it.

HOW the HELL is there an error since I laid everything out to the best of my knowledge with my age being of sound mind and nearing 80 years of age.

In other words, stuff about me is CORRECT.

I have heard from friends the hassle trying to create this IDIOTIC account.

Anyhooooo, consider this another poke at the tiger and you can place your M/C credit card where the sun doesn't shine. Oh, and I will continue with my hassle free Bank Of Montreal Master Card...

Desired outcome: Big Shot without any care for the Customer. I cannot see a solution unless you fire all Management and get people on board that give a " &*^%&*^%$"

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Wire transfer to my bank in Costa Rica

I am complaining about the poor communications and lack of response by Rui Zheng of the White Rock branch of CIBC.

I am trying to send a US$ 50,000 to my account at Banco de Costa Rica. I have sent all the information to Ms Zheng and she promised follow up by May 31. I have called several times. Her out of office message [protected] ext 343) says she will return by May 10 (sic). So it is clearly out of date. Also she provides an alternative number which is unintelligible because she says it so quickly.

I have been a customer of CIBC for almost 60 years and have substantial investments with them. I want immediate action on my wire transfer.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Refund by Amazon $285.88 9 months still not received from bank

Amazon refunded a motherboard that they had sent the incorrect model of, on August 16th, 2021. First CIBC denied receiving it, as they had closed my account without notifying me, then after going in to the bank and twice being told it wasn't CIBC but Amazon at fault, Amazon gave me transaction numbers, which I took in person to cibc again. They could not make sense of the numbers, so I was told it was Amazon again, Amazon replied that the refund had been accepted by CIBC, so I made appointment with the bank manager, and she said she would put in an investigation. She did not contact me, and during this time I was illegally evicted, at 43 years of age having never been evicted or homeless - living in my car with my cat and dog 6 months before finally obtaining an apartment and had also gotten hired full time within this homeless time period about mid way through, I still contacted the bank manager, who told me they had found the money and would work out how to get it back to me and would call me back. She did not call me back, so after getting settled in my new place, I called her last Monday to find out what was happening, as it was way past ridiculous at this point. Not to mention my new computer which still sits with all the new pieces getting older, and no motherboard to power them, continues to become more obsolete by the day. She told me she had just returned from vacation and "was sure I would have been given the refund by now, but that she would put in another inquiry and call back." something she had never done before this point, and still had not done. I also left a message last Friday that has not been returned at end of day Tuesday today. I called customer service and after 17 minutes basically told me to go into a branch with ID, but didn't indicate how I was expecting to go about explaining to them my situation, being that I am no longer a customer.

Desired outcome: $785.88 for wasted time and inability to use any items that need the motherboard to function, that have lost value as a result.

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] Taking all money out of account

CIBC Account management in Vancouver took all $2000 from account towards what was owing on Credit card and line of credit. I wrote to CIBC Visa and explained the situation with my husband's health, the reason I (the only breadwinner) had to quit my job to look after him from August until last month. I know we are just a name and number to a corporation but I did state that I was going back to work, which indeed I started yesterday and now would be able to start making regular payments. The 2000 is his pension and it was to go to mortgage payments, some to line of credit and credit card and needed the rest for the light and heat bill, medications, and groceries. Now if I don't have 600 by Friday our power will be cut and we will have no heat and light. Also property and water taxes are due and a host of other normal expenses. However, now I have no money to pay anything until my first cheque in two weeks time. I have explained dozens of times to everyone that calls from CIBC that my husband is unable to talk due to his strokes and brain hemorrhage and still they call and ask for him. Compassion for our situation is needed after all the years my husband has been a loyal customer of CIBC.

Desired outcome: I would like CIBC management to credit at least 500 back in the account to cover the last mortgage payment and to buy some meds and groceries and take only half next month!

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce [CIBC] My account was closed.

Cibc closed my account after I forgot to call in and update them as to when I could bring my overdraft into good standing.

I did a deposit and brought it into good standing very soon after the forgotten phone call.(I am 62 and do forget things.)

I made a few transactions after that, and all of a sudden the overdraft is now a demand loan and the account is closed. No notice to me to let me know that it was closed.

I only found out when an e transfer from someone got sent back.

Now this has screwed up several of my bills and auto deposits.

I've talked to customer service, client care, and account resolution about it. They suggested calling my branch manager, they never returned my call.

Cibc is the worst bank in my opinion. I've been a customer for 20 plus years, they have no regard for customers and don't care that people are struggling after the pandemic, or that it affected our business and still is.

They still make the interest and service fees off the overdraft so it's not like they've lost money by my being late with the stupid 90 day policy.

I do not have the ability to pay the amount of overdraft in one full payment. Guess It will be sent to collections now.

Not a happy customer, won't recommend Cibc to anyone.

Desired outcome: Give me back my account and overdraft.

I've been trying for 4-months to close by Costco Credit card. I've been stuck on hold for 2 hours each time I call.

I've been trying to contact customer service from February 1, 2022 through May 13, 2022 about closing my CIBC Costco Credit Card account.

On 22 Apr I discovered what I thought were fraud charges on my CIBC Mastercard from Telus mobile. I called Telus to resolve.. transactions were from BC. I then called CIBC and the online rep said he would cancel my card and refund my money. Later that day my son came home from work and when I mentioned the fraud charges from Telus, he enlightened me that the charges on my card were in fact valid and were the occasional monthly pay as you go payment that he asked me to put on my card. I immediately called CIBC Mastercard to cancel the fraud charge but couldn’t get thru to an online rep. I waited online twice for 40 minutes without success, keep getting the message “due to high volumes of call unable to respond “. The very next day Apr 23 , I call CIBC Mastercard online and talked with a rep. After explaining the situation, she said no problem get me a few minutes and I will take care of this. She subsequently came back and told me that the computer was down and to call back tomorrow. I called back Sun Apr 24 and talked with a rep only to find out he couldn’t cancel the fraud charge because the entry was not in the system yet and told me to call back In 1 or 2 days. I called back on Mon Apr 25 and talked with a CIBC Mastercard rep, explained the situation and he then proceeded to cancel the fraud charge. Thinking finally I could put this behind me , I received a call from my son on Apr 28 informing me that his phone service had been cancelled. I immediately called CIBC Mastercard online to insure that the fraud charge had been canceled only to discover that the fraud charge was still active and was in fact not cancelled. I informed him that I called on Mon Apr 25 to cancel. He politely told me that the prev rep screwed up. Now my son is out of a phone until and Telus are giving him a hard time.. Why is it so difficult to get good online service and why the hell when an online service rep says he will call you back, it never happens.
