Canadian Health Recovery CentreAddiction treatment / unethical behaviour

E Review updated:

7 weeks to recovery just follow this diet and take these supplements. This is the worst addiction treatment center ever. The owners have no clue What they are doing and are only in this for the money. The Staff are over worked and under paid. The program only focuses on emotional regulation and diet. The diet they push is not easily followed after treatment. The supplements they ask all clients to take run up words of $600 dollars a month, clients are expected to continue the supplements after treatment. If a client can not continue these expensive supplements they are told they are a failure and any relapse is due to not taking supplements wile speaking to a so called counselor Jodi I was informed that this was only for well off clients and if the money was an issue I should try a publicly funded program and see where I end up. This statement was fallowed by a chuckle. I am a pretty understanding person I am aware that one person will not make up a whole company. I was so wrong. After doing some research I found out that the old program director left due to refusing to do unethical practices continually asked by the owners Jane and Geoff Dean and Kathy. These four are only in it for themselves dealing with addiction is a very hard on family and the people with addiction. Protect your loved ones from those people at CHRC the are only out to take advantage. Protect your loved ones from the scam. My loved one was also offered $100 to write a testimonial for the Internet after his true testimonial was not well revived by the owners

I would like to speak on behalf of the owners and current staff of CHRC so that people referring to Complaintsboard.com can get context and perspective as they consider CHRC for residential treatment for addiction and mental health.

It is hard to know if Emerald Dragon was a client or if they had a loved one who attended or considered attending CHRC in 2015. The most important thing for readers to be mindful of is that a significant portion of complaints for residential treatment tend to come from clients who were less than engaged in our program or who had to be discharged early because they had violated the behaviour contract. Another portion of complaints arise from loved ones who are disappointed that their loved one was not “cured” by our program.
The smallest portion of complaints come from people who had legitimate experiences with CHRC that did not live up to their expectations.

A few of Emerald Dragon’s complaints do reflect areas of growth we recognized in the first few years of our programs development. We have made significant improvements to our nutrition philosophy in the last 5 years so that clients consistently feel the benefits of our specially designed menu and individually crafted supplements with zero pressure to continue either upon graduation.

Readers can rest assured that the owners of CHRC can be trusted to not cut corners or make ethical sacrifices because of a profit preoccupation. If anything, the owners are guilty of too often making accommodations for our clients with heart-breaking circumstances. Residential treatment is a big investment and unfortunately there have been a few bad actors in the rehab world that make it hard for people to trust. Readers may appreciate knowing that as of 2020/2021 CHRC is in the process of being accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation with hopes to be certified by spring 2021.

CHRC is not perfect – yet! We are committed to excellence and have seen a steady improvement in the caliber of our staff and if you look at our Google reviews you will see that an overwhelming majority of our alumni refer to their time at CHRC as lifechanging.
As far as I am aware – we have never formally or informally tried to “sell” our program as “7 weeks to recovery – just follow the diet and take our supplements!” Our program is based on a 6 week curriculum that is designed to help our clients become experts in their own recovery. We know that relapse is a part of recovery for most people so we work hard to prepare them with the tools they need so that setbacks don’t become failures.

If you do your homework you will discover that no one else in Canada has assembled a residential treatment program that is as comprehensive, customized and holistically integrated as ours staffed by passionate people who love the opportunity to make a difference every day.
