I bought a used Class C from camping world a week ago for $60k cash. I am not complaining about the price. I agreed to it. My issue was the response I got when I reported the problems I had driving the RV home from the dealership. All was good until I decided I wanted to make adjustments to the mirrors. The mirrors would not adjust. So, I found a place to pull over to see if I could figure out what was up with the mirrors and why the tow/haul light was on. It was dark out and I turned on the cab light so I could see. The LED cab light starts flashing like a strobe light and is unusable. So, I drive the rest of the way home and called the dealership the next morning. I explained what happened on the way home and thought I had been hung up on. Not a sorry that happened. Nothing. It was like it did not matter to him in the slightest. I had to recommend I could send him pictures of the defective parts. The mirror switch and the cabin dome light. This was the sales manager for the dealership I was talking to. Not just an operator or sales associate. The Sales Manager. He acted like I was bothering him. I had a feeling he did not want to help or even hear about it.
I missed a call later that day and called the number back to find out it was a missed call from camping world. No Message. Just a missed call. I explain I missed a call but don't know from whom. Eventually I get connected to the service department. I am told by the service department man the these are Ford parts and a Ford problem. After I explained to him that I did not buy the RV from Ford. I bought it from Camping World. He said my sales rep was there working today and he was on his way that very minute to talk to him and find out what they can do.
Still, I hear nothing back. I am angry at this point.
I wrote an email the next day to the corporate email for camping world.
About 30 minutes later the General manager from the dealership I bought the RV from calls me and I again I explain the problem with the mirrors and dome light.
Now if I can find the correct switch and buy one. I can send the receipt to the general manager and get reimbursed for the two parts.
I have worked as a field service engineer my entire career and understand customer service and the importance of a good customer experience.
All they had to do was express even the slightest concern over the problems I had on my drive home. Then after receiving my email with the pictures of the defective parts. Respond to it and say if they plan to do anything or not. Telling me no would have been way better than ignoring me.
I came away feeling as if I was being unreasonable to expect the power mirrors to work and the cabin light to work.
To this date the general manager was the only one that even came close to saying sorry; by saying he hopes that's the last of the problems.
I read many of the bad reviews on camping world before I bought the RV and have had some experience with them in the past. So, it is on me this time for doing business with them. I won't make the mistake again.
There are many RV dealerships that treat customers like they are spending real earned money, and they appreciate the business you give them.
Camping World in my opinion does not deserve our business.
Recommendation: Camping World is a great place to buy a folding chair or toilet paper for a camper.
