Cabot Spf Cocoa Shell — peeling
applied as per the tin instructions, in September 2011, after the winter and the snow melted [march2012] there was a lot peeling off of the product, contacted Valspar in Mass and eventually after sending photographs, [they said that there was saw dust where the power wash prep was too harsh, ] It was in fact the product peeling looked like someone had spread straw on our deck, several e-mails and phone calls from, eventually Valspar sent a technical rep to look at our [a new redwood cedar deck] who stated that there had been a "catastrophic failure of the product" he would send in his report in the next day recommending replacement product, two and a half weeks later, no word from Valspar/cabot we have sent sent several e-mails again trying to find our exactly what was happening. The customer service does not exist! they try to blame the customer for poor prep, when clearly the know there is a problem with their product! IN MY OPINION STAY AWAY FROM VALSPAR/CABOT SPF alot of time and energy with poor result, But as the tech rep says the bad news is a catastrophic failure, and the good news is there is not much left to remove! our deck is 26 feet by 12. and Valspar don't care and don't accept responsabily for their awful product.
