Performed Smart Liposuction on my stomach and lovehandle areas. I was given a guarantee that the areas that were done would turn out to be flat, which they didn't. I was given 1 "touchup" but only on my sides and was promised if both my sides and stomach did not turn out correctly that Dr Byrd would redo them. After numerous phone calls and emails Dr Byrd finally agreed to redo the areas but charged me $500 this time. Between the time I paid and scheduled my appointment to the time the surgery was suppose to of been performed I was mistreated by her staff and accused of being a wimp because the Doctor for no reason at all would not prescribe me with medicine for pain. Then the Doctor canceled my appointment several times. It was like she didn't want to do the surgery but just took my money and made an appointment to shut me up. The day of the surgery I was told that they overbooked and I had to go home. They refused to schedule another appointment with me and were very unprofessional. I would not recommend.

I had over 20k in surgery with Dr.Byrd, including smartlipo. I was very pleased with her as a person. Yet, after a few months, nothing seemed to turn out the way it was promised. At one appointment, I was witness to a crazy altercation between a lady in the office and the staff. I later found out the lady doing all the screaming and throwing of objects was the co-founder, Diane. I couldn't believe the things she said in front of patients! This woman was so out of control that I was in fear. The staff apologized and only offered the excuse that she was "always that way." I found out later, she is Dr. Byrd's girlfriend of many years. If you watch their media promotions on TV, you will find Diane is pretending to be a patient when in reality, she is co-owner and girlfriend. I don't know what is going on in that office, but after you take the time to take a closer look, nothing adds up! Professional people do not conduct themselves the way these people do.
I had a consult with Byrd which they took before pictures. To my surprise the camera seemed to make me look heavier. I thought it was a scam and never went back.
I went to Dr Byrd ,on may 2007 to have lipo under my chin and she did not do a good job then in my check up appt she offer to redo it.. but I have to wait 6 months... on dic 2007 she did lipo and...2 1/2 inc CUT in my lower chin ohhh my GOD! next day I almost die it look very scary and ugly there wore like 19 stitches ...went we talk she said she was going to do 2 stitches not 19, wen I went for my check up she offer to do 3 free fraxel treatments my last treatment is on feb 21 2008 after that I will never go back to her I dont think she is careful, delicate or nor have the experience she need to do any kind of surgery I`m not happy whith my results and I`m scar for life!not to mention $2500 poor
Were you able to get any financial restitution? I have the same problem - different Dr. I don't have the $$$ to get areas fixed.
A) Did you pay all the money? If not, I would not recommending paying it especially if services were not done that were promised.
B) Did you contact the Medical Association that Dr Byrd has her license through? I believe you can file a complaint with them.
C) Did you try to get references BEFORE she did anything? I would DEFINITELY get at least 10 references from people she treated especially since it has to do with plastic surgery & call them, too.
D) Do you have her promise in writing? If not, is she going to put it in writing? What were the terms of the agreement of the surgery?
E) Did Dr. Byrd violate the terms of the agreement? If so, have you considered legal action?
