Hello I am a graduate of the University of the Rockies in 2011 with a Masters in Psychology and Counseling. I am now looking at trying to get my LPC in the state of Colorado and am scared that the school did not set up enough credit hours for me to fulfill the academic portion of the LPC. In the state of Colorado it is stated that you need 48 semester hour...

University of the Rockies Unsubstantiated Complaints

I would advise those who choose to spew hatred and misinformation towards an institution of higher learning to please substantiate your opinion. I can completely understand if one did not like their experience while attending the school – but that is the part that should be explained. Coming off as some sort of “hot-head” does nothing to sway serious interest of those who wish to pursue a particular on-line course of study.

In addition, for those who would post their opinions against any institution of higher learning, please ensure that you have proper sentence structure and spelling at the very least! Can you please bother to use a word processor, then cut and paste? You should have been taught this while you were an undergraduate; making these mistakes in your rebuke of an accredited doctoral-level program have caused my eye browse to raised quite considerably. Please be a better student of intelligent rebuke.

Unsubstantiated... Ok, how about this to substantiate the complaints... U of R was forced to refund entire students tuitions as well as pay an 8 million fine for tuition fraud as of Jan, 2017. APA refused to consider application based on poor academic standing and faculty requirements as of Sept, 2014. State attorneys general in 6 different states filed grievance for predatory enrollment practices as of 2014.
Should I list more? The school turned its chancellor over three times since 2002because of criminal actions and involvement... They are trying as of Feb 15 to lock and hide these records from Bridgeport (the mother ship).

Lamont29 writes about poor grammar in the rebukes, which few bother to check with a fine-toothed comb, and then writes this:

"You should have been taught this while you were an undergraduate; making these mistakes in your rebuke of an accredited doctoral-level program have caused my eye browse to raised quite considerably. Please be a better student of intelligent rebuke."

It is "eyebrows". It is "has caused" not "have caused." It is "to be raised" not "to raised." Please try and avoid making a fool of yourself. If you read my rebuke you wouldn't peddle such tripe. I clearly list the issues as I experienced them.

This school is not accredited in terms of APA accreditation, which means if you are seeking clinical psychology, you will not be admitted into the APA membership. I was told this week that they are working on accreditation though, but ETA is still distant in future. They are accredited for non-clinical Psy-D programs just as all other schools are, but they only have three disciplines total... barely meeting criteria for being termed University. They consist of a few classrooms in Colorado Springs (most pictures you see on their web page are of Carnival Cruiselines offices actually. They are legitimate, but utilize hired guns for professors instead of truly single owned ones. If you are studying corrections or business psych, you are OK. Clinical.. well you are wasting your time basically: Maybe this is good practice for one that APA accredits later..

University of the Rockies Financial aid

I attended University of the Rockies since May 2010. I was accepted into the Master's in Psychology (Health and Wellness) program. My first three classes were great and I received my financial refund. The next three scheduled classes were diferent because I was diagnosed with a sinus condition and I could not take the classes. My cultural diversity class was awful because the teacher accused me of plegerism which was not true. The statistics class was difficult because you would have to be a electronic engineer to understand the Microsoft statistics program. I was ill for the next two classes and if you do not withdrawal within the first week, they charge you $1, 050.00. All together, I had to pay for the cultural diversity class which was $2, 000.00 and half of the statistics class that was $1, 000.00 because I dropped it the second week. The financial advisor said that it's school policy. I read the school policy and I did not read anything about that. I do notknow what kind of game they are playing with the Federalgovt and students but they should be investigated by the feds.

drugdoc121,

Do you not see how and why URoC is a scandal? The taxpayers are on the hook for "churn n' burn" schools like this, schools that have few if any admission standards. Is it really any wonder why there are so many PhDs in this country and why the student loan debt just topped $1 trillion? All of these 'for profits' are going to go bust for their underhanded tactics to "get 'em in the door quick". They mislead nearly everyone they recruit.

Summary There are a number of issues with this university that I detail in this narrative, but the most disturbing was the following. I observed that the University of the Rockies took advantage of a minority student who appeared to have learning disabilities and was incoherent throughout the Residency experience as well as in online discussions (i.e., in...
