SureTouch Unauthorized charges

They are taking money out of checking account for services I didn't agree to. I never even gave them my debit card information for them to get my money out of my account.

SureTouch Who are they?

Two charges of $39.95 (One in April, one in may) plus a debit of $4.95. My bank said they'd take care of it since i contacted them within 90 days of the incidence. Different banks, credit cards, or whatever may vary their policy.

After a summer away from the school where I teach, I got my mail last week to find some weird "14-day trial" for unlimited long distance, complete with fine print about their plans to "automatically renew my monthly unlimited service," blah blah blah. HUH? I have LD through our teacher's union phone company, and I never give out my work address when I'm doing personal transactions. I didn't know who this company is, why they were sending me junk mail at work, why my HOME PHONE NUMBER was listed on it, or what "automatic renewal" meant.

When I got home I called [protected], which was listed as their customer service number. DON'T CALL THIS NUMBER! DON'T! Here's why...

Nobody answered, so I left a message with my phone number (DON'T!) saying, "I don't know who you are, I don't want to do business with you, and if you've somehow gotten my credit card number, don't you dare charge anything to it."

I only have one credit card; it's a debit card, tied to my bank account, and guess what? THE VERY NEXT DAY, it was charged $39.95 by "SURETOUCH-[protected]-V866-3807148 GA". Apparently, their "customer service" line is an AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION NUMBER, so if you call it, somehow you're "authorizing" these thieves to charge your credit card!

So now I've got to fill out a police report and have it notarized before I can get my 40 dollars back. My bank also gave me a form to fill out for the Federal Trade Commission. Thanks to everyone for posting their SureTouch horror stories, because I was beginning to think I'd lost my mind. THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES, very capable of finding out where you live, where you work, and what your credit card number is. All they didn't do was break into my house or steal my car, and if anyone does so in the near future, I'm blaming SureTouch!

Nobody answered!
